With a player meeting expected to unveil more information to LIV Golf members who are uncertain what lies ahead, Cameron Smith said he's preparing for the season-ending LIV Golf Team Championship as if it's still happening, even though fellow league member Martin Kaymer was quoted as saying he thought there was a 5 percent chance the event would go in Michigan as planned.
"We've been told to prepare as though it's going ahead. So we're expecting it to happen," Smith said during a press conference on Tuesday. "I'm really unsure, but we had a great year there last year in Detroit, and we're hoping we get back there. It's a great golf course, a great venue, and the crowds really turned up as well. Yeah, would be disappointed if it wasn't."
The circuit's turbulent 2026 season appeared poised to take another significant hit last week, when reports leaked that the league was expected to announce the cancellation of its team championship at The Cardinal in Plymouth, marking the second event scrubbed from this year's schedule.
The social media account "Flushing It" first reported the development, while LIV officials had not responded to Golfweek's request for comment.
The news followed April's decision to postpone LIV Golf New Orleans, an event that was originally slated for July and has yet to receive a replacement date. Simone Biles is recovering from another medical procedure just weeks after revealing she suffered what she described as a life-threatening health emergency.
The Olympic gymnastics star shared a photo on Instagram July 23 showing herself in medical scrubs alongside husband Jonathan Owens, revealing that the Indianapolis Colts safety spent part of his 31st birthday taking her to an appointment.
"His birthday but he takes me to get my procedure," Biles wrote, adding several heart emojis.
Biles, 29, did not disclose what procedure she underwent and has yet to explain the health scare she revealed last month.
The seven-time Olympic gold medalist shocked fans in June when she shared a photo from a hospital bed and said she had experienced one of the scariest moments of her life.

Justin and his wife, actress Nicole Brydon Bloom, tied the knot in March 2025 and welcomed their son - whose name has not yet been announced - in April.

On June 2, Serve Robotics Inc (NASDAQ:SERV) announced a deal to expand its AI-powered robot delivery service beyond the food industry. The company said that NoScrubs will use its sidewalk autonomous robots to deliver laundry orders. NoScrubs offers laundry services across seven major metros. It picks up clothes from customers, then washes, dries, folds, and sends them back.
Serve Robotics operates a fleet of roughly 2,000 robots across the US, and it primarily delivers restaurant meals. It will fulfill NoScrubs laundry orders along with food deliveries in shared markets. This will involve picking up clothes and returning them after the laundry service. According to Serve Robotics, laundry pickup and returns usually happen outside food delivery peak hours.

On Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints came together again not on the field but off the field to show some love to their community by providing some much-needed improvements to a local community center. The local event also served a good off-season team building and bonding activity.
Saints players and coaches partnered with The 18th Ward to help refurbish the playground and garden areas at Trinity Community Center in the New Orleans. Several trees and scrubs were planted as well as mulched on the grounds as well as fresh dirt and mulch was placed around the playground area.
Saints Head Coach Kellen Moore said of the event, “I think any time you get a chance to connect and do something for the common good of the group or an organization, I think it’s a great opportunity. These are awesome. We get to spend time together, not always in the same football environment but take us out of that environment and do something different.”
This is the 2nd year in a row that the team participated in a project at the center. Last year, they helped paint the interior of the community center’s building.
