Cerebras Systems (NASDAQ:CBRS) has been cut in half. Shares of the artificial intelligence (AI) computing specialist peaked at $386.34 on their first day of trading in May, a day after the company priced its initial public offering (IPO) at $185 and raised $6.4 billion. As of this writing, the stock trades around $184 -- about 52% below the high, and just under that IPO price.
A decline like that usually follows a stumble: a guidance cut, a lost customer, a bad quarter. Cerebras hasn't had one. Shares dropped double digits anyway the day after its mid-August update, arguably the company's strongest yet and one in which management raised its outlook for the year.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Yet even at half price, the stock costs about 145 times the earnings **** ysts expect the company to generate next year.
What did the fall reprice -- the business, or just the price tag?

As the artificial intelligence revolution shifts from experimentation to industrial scale, choosing between Cerebras Systems (NASDAQ:CBRS) and CoreWeave (NASDAQ:CRWV) presents a unique choice for investors seeking infrastructure growth in 2026.
Cerebras builds massive chips designed to accelerate intensive workloads, while CoreWeave offers specialized cloud services for those same tasks. Both companies have seen rapid growth as businesses scramble for computing power, making them key names to watch among semiconductor stocks and infrastructure providers.
Cerebras Systems focuses on a single, bold hardware proposition: the Wafer-Scale Engine. This processor is the size of an entire silicon wafer, designed to train complex models much faster than traditional clusters. The company serves enterprise, government, and high-performance computing customers across North America, Europe, and the Middle East. While its latest annual report does not disclose specific major customers, its global reach continues to expand as it targets large-scale research and national security projects.
Financial performance has trended upward significantly in recent years. In its 2025 fiscal year (FY), revenue reached $510.0 million, representing growth of 75.7% compared to the prior year. The company also achieved profitability during this period, reporting net income of $237.8 million. This results in a net margin of 46.6%, which measures the percentage of revenue that remains as profit after all expenses are paid.
As of its December 2025 balance sheet, the company maintains a current ratio of 2.1x, indicating its ability to cover short-term obligations with short-term ***** ets while the debt-to-equity ratio is -0.5x. During FY 2025, free cash flow was negative at $392.8 million. Free cash flow is the cash a business generates after paying for its operations and capital expenditures to maintain the business.

Anthropic, the developer of the Claude AI models, could be the biggest IPO of the year. Based on recent reports, that IPO might happen within weeks.
The AI start-up is planning to release its IPO prospectus after Labor Day and will be targeting a public listing in late September or early October, according to a report from The Information. It's exciting news for those who have been waiting for an opportunity to invest in Anthropic, but what's most interesting is how the deal is reportedly structured.
Continue »
There are a few unique wrinkles in Anthropic's rumored IPO plans. Details leaked to The Information indicate it might allow existing shareholders to sell shares as part of the IPO, and it's also weighing the idea of lockup periods longer than the standard 180 days. In addition, it may require rank-and-file employees to sell shares through preset 10b5-1 plans instead of during post-earnings windows.
All these moves would be a departure from other IPOs this year, including **** e Exploration Technologies, also known as **** eX, and Cerebras. Neither allowed existing shareholders to sell as part of the IPO, and both have tiered lockup periods in which tranches of shares hit the market periodically.

The order book that makes Cerebras look de-risked came from a single deal, and the hyperscaler partnerships meant to broaden it are not yet producing revenue.
Cerebras Systems (CBRS) shares sit at about 58% of their 52-week high after a three-month decline, and the reflex is to weigh that against a $25.4 billion order book and call the selling overdone. The order book is real. It is also the clearest statement of this stock's largest risk, and that risk does not resolve inside calendar 2026.
One Contract Built The Order Book
By the company's own account, Cerebras entered 2026 having won one of the largest technology deals ever, a contract that created more than $25 billion of remaining performance obligations. The balance stood at $25.4 billion at June 30, 2026, and management said in August that it carries no backlog from AWS or any other hyperscaler. Against raised 2026 core revenue guidance of $880 million to $890 million, that balance is a multi-year total rather than anything calendar 2026 collects; management expects to more than triple annual core revenue in 2027. So the number that reads as safety is also the number that measures the concentration. A backlog resting on one contract is a different proposition from the Trefis High Quality Portfolio, which does not depend on the handful of largest technology names to produce its returns.

That follows additional buying earlier in August.
The timing is notable. Shares of Cerebras have fallen sharply from their May peak and remain extremely volatile. CBRS stock is down 7% over the past month and 26% over the past three months. The stock has swung between a 52-week high of $386.34 and a low of $160.81.

NVDA's $82B quarter dwarfs CBRS's $210M, but Cerebras's 103% growth and $25.4B backlog signal a credible inference speed challenger.

This year has already delivered one of the most extraordinary IPO periods in recent years. ****** eX (SPCX), Cerebras (CBRS), and Jersey Mike's (JMKE) have been some of the buzzier names to debut in public markets.
But this could be just the tip of the IPO iceberg as we look into the fall — and along with it, some very bold promises on future performance.
Anthropic (ANTH.PVT) has filed confidentially for a potential IPO as soon as October. The Claude creator may pitch to investors that its potential revenue opportunities are above $30 trillion, per a new report from the Wall Street Journal.
OpenAI (OPAI.PVT) is not far behind, judging by all the execs it has sent packing this summer. It too could follow Anthropic with a seemingly outlandish future revenue estimate.
"I actually like it [the revenue estimate] because it talks about sort of what the opportunity is. If it's enterprise, if it's consumer, it's coding, it's actually changing not only how we do work, but also how we develop products. I think it is viable," Connor Group managing partner Jim Neesen said on Yahoo Finance's Opening Bid. "I mean, if you look at their revenue growth, $65 billion is their run rate. They were $9 billion last year. That's a sevenfold increase. I do think that market opportunity is out there."

Cerebras Systems (CBRS) is giving investors another reason to pay attention to its ambitions in the rapidly expanding artificial intelligence (AI) accelerator market. On Aug. 18, the company unveiled its new CS-4 rack-scale platform, which it says can deliver up to 30 times faster AI inference than comparable GPU-based systems. Built around three new WSE-3 Turbo processors, CS-4 delivers 750 petaflops of AI compute, 7.2 terabits per second of I/O bandwidth, and 129.6 petabytes per second of memory bandwidth.
The launch comes at a critical time for Cerebras. The company is seeking to establish itself as a credible alternative to Nvidia (NVDA) in AI inference, where demand is rising as businesses deploy increasingly sophisticated generative AI and agentic applications. Cerebras says CS-4 can support models exceeding 50 trillion parameters and reduce wafer-to-wafer latency to as little as two microseconds, potentially giving customers a significant speed advantage for latency-sensitive workloads.

Now that the **** e dust, er, the dust from the **** eX (SPCX) initial public offering (IPO) has settled, I decided to take another look at the IPO **** e at large. What did I find? Even in a strong period for stocks, like the past 52 weeks, IPOs are a **** shoot. That's based on the current holdings of the Renaissance IPO ETF (IPO), which have been public for at least 12 months.
With OpenAI and Anthropic thought of as the "next big thing" in IPO land, given their expected offerings, it should be noted that the last two headline-grabbing launches are not exactly posting stellar numbers out of the gate. Cerebras (CBRS) debuted in May of this year, and after hitting an intraday high of $386 just hours after its debut, it closed Wednesday at around $216.

Cerebras Systems (CBRS) stock has witnessed some volatility since listing in May 2026. After an initial rally to 52-week highs of $386, CBRS stock touched lows of $160.8. However, in what seems like profit booking after the IPO, the stock has crawled higher to current levels of $252.
With Cerebras recently reporting Q2 numbers, there appears to be an increase in investor interest in this AI infrastructure company. Cerebras Systems (CBRS) stock took a brutal hit after the company's Q2 earnings report, but investors may be missing the bigger picture. Shares plunged roughly 12% in Thursday trading after the AI chipmaker reported a revenue miss and a massive net loss. Yet underneath those headline numbers, the business is growing at an extraordinary pace.
Core revenue more than doubled, cloud revenue nearly quadrupled, and management raised its full-year outlook. Then came an even bigger catalyst. Cerebras said it is powering a new ultrafast tier for OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol. However, this news failed to lift the stock, and shares plunged more than 5% on Friday. The bulls brought CBRS stock back up 15% Monday just for the price to tank over 12% again during morning trading today.

US stocks climbed on Thursday, with the S&P 500 (^GSPC) posting a record high after another inflation reading that eased September rate-hike bets and a slew of earnings reports.
The broad-based index rose roughly 0.6%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) moved up 0.8% after a calm day on Wall Street. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI), meanwhile, gained 0.1%.
Cisco (CSCO) and Cerebras (CBRS) stocks tanked on Thursday morning after the two AI-related companies reported earnings. Applied Materials (AMAT), which makes chipmaking equipment, reports results after the market close following a whopping 190% gain for its stock over the past year.
Data from the Producer Price Index, which tracks inflation from the sellers' perspective, showed prices rising by less than expected, another positive sign for investors after Wednesday's Consumer Price Index report showed inflation easing in July. So-called core readings showed slowdowns of both monthly and annual price appreciation.
Though cooling CPI and PPI data prompted traders to fade bets of a September rate hike, it likely wasn't enough to settle the divide among policymakers, and Fed watchers still expect at least one rate hike by the end of the year.

Nvidia's (NVDA) fiscal first quarter results on Wedneday offered investors the marquee earnings event of the week, while Walmart's (WMT) report on Thursday morning provided insight into the state of the consumer.
Nvidia said it anticipates revenue between $89.1 billion and $92.8 billion in the second quarter, serving as a barometer of artificial intelligence trade. Nvidia's report comes as the AI chipmaker faces increasing competition from rivals such as Cerebras (CBRS) and AMD (AMD), as well as its customers Amazon (AMZN) and Google (GOOG).

Cerebras Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:CBRS) was among the stocks Jim Cramer commented on as he advised investors on how to take advantage of Wednesday's market rotation. Cramer highlighted that he warned against the stock when it was hot, as he said:
We've had plenty of cautionary tales from the IPO market. Take Cerebras Systems, please, which makes enormous semiconductors that are used to handle AI workloads. Now, this was the second largest deal of the year. It was priced at $185. Listen to this: stock opened for trading at $350. It surged to $386. And at its intraday high, well, let me just say it had doubled the price of… [from] where it came. Now, that was bad… I warned you to stay away from this one. It seemed too hot when it got all the way up there. Now, since then, well, it's pretty historic.
The stock's pulled back to $221. In fact, last week, it briefly sank to the $160 level… after Cerebras reported just an okay quarter, disappointing gross margins. Now, it's been able to rebound from those lows, but the point stands. See, if you tried to get into Cerebras on the first day, it blew up in your face. Buying hot stocks right after they come public tends to be a recipe for disaster.

Cerebras doesn't produce small GPUs like Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA). Instead, it builds massive AI processors on a single silicon wafer without cutting them into individual chips. Cerebras chips are as big as dinner plates, while Nvidia's GPUs are the size of postage stamps.

Things are going from bad to worse for Supermicro (SMCI). In June, SMCI stock fell badly after Supermicro announced that it was seeking $7 billion in funding to pay for a backlog of $39 billion in orders. SMCI stock fell 8% on June 29 and is now down 46% in the last month. Investors are understandably cautious. Cerebras Systems (NASDAQ:CBRS) is an AI chipmaker that sells Wafer-Scale Engine (WSE-3) processors. Its customers are OpenAI and Amazon Web Services, with potential for enterprise customers down the line.
Wall Street turned bullish on the company because it makes the industry's only commercially deployed wafer-scale AI chip. Bulls point to the company's massive $24.6 billion backlog, which is 48 times Cerebras Systems (NASDAQ:CBRS) FY25 revenue of $510 million. The backlog is supported by a $20 billion three-year deal with OpenAI announced in January 2026. In that deal, OpenAI will deploy approximately 750 megawatts of Cerebras compute capacity through 2028, with an option for an additional 1.25 gigawatts. The company also has a collaboration with AWS for disaggregated inference announced in March 2026.
Cerebras Systems (NASDAQ:CBRS) expects revenue growth with a 120% forward topline CAGR through fiscal 2028 from fiscal 2025. This is based entirely on the OpenAI and AWS commitments. Morgan Stanley recently started coverage of the stock with a $250 price target and called it one of the most differentiated AI infrastructure companies with a first-mover advantage against Nvidia. UBS came out with a $300 price target and a Buy rating. Needham also came out with $300 and a Buy rating.

Vicor Corporation (NASDAQ:VICR) is one of the best electrical equipment stocks to buy according to **** ysts.
On June 22, Needham maintained a Buy rating on the stock and raised its price target to $400 from $350 after Vicor's 2026 annual meeting. The note pointed to a larger long-term financial model, with management lifting its revenue target to $2.5 billion from a prior $1.0 billion, alongside 70% gross margin and 40% operating income targets. The rating is relevant to the electrical equipment theme because Vicor's growth case is tied to high-density power conversion, a bottleneck area as AI systems and advanced computing platforms draw more power at the rack and board level.
Needham also highlighted an improved second-generation VPD solution expected to sample to Cerebras in the first quarter of 2027, as well as possible second-generation VPD design wins with existing licensees that could ramp in late 2027, upside to licensing and royalty revenue, and progress toward a second ChiP fab.
Vicor Corporation (NASDAQ:VICR) designs and manufactures modular power components and power systems used in computing, communications, industrial, automotive, aerospace, and defense electronics.
While we acknowledge the potential of VICR as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. If you're looking for an extremely undervalued AI stock that also stands to benefit significantly from Trump-era tariffs and the onshoring trend, see our free report on the best short-term AI stock.

OpenAI is considering delaying its initial public offering until next year, amid concerns about AI stocks as well as ******* eX's retreat after its initial post-IPO surge.
The Microsoft-backed artificial intelligence startup announced on June 8 that it had confidentially filed its IPO plan with the SEC. That came a week after fellow AI startup giant Anthropic disclosed its own confidential IPO filing, and just days before the ******* eX (SPCX) IPO priced on June 11.
However, the ChatGPT creator is now leaning against going public this year, the New York Times reported late Thursday, citing three sources. IPO advisors reportedly are encouraging OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to wait, citing multiple reasons.
SpaceX raised more than $85 billion in its IPO, with an initial valuation of $1.77 trillion. SPCX surged initially, hitting 225.64 intraday on June 16. But shares have tumbled since then, closing Thursday at 153. That's still above the ******* eX IPO price of 135.
On a related note, AI chip startup Cerebras (CBRS) came public in May at $185 a share, surging to 386.34 in its May 14 debut but closing well off highs. CBRS stock then fell sharply over the next few weeks. On Wednesday, CBRS stock dived nearly 20% after the company forecast a big drop in gross margins. Shares fell another 7.5% on Thursday to 168.52, well below the IPO price.

Interested in Cerebras Systems Inc.? Here are five stocks we like better.
Cerebras Systems targets the $125 billion AI inference market with chips that deliver double to triple the token-generation throughput of traditional GPU setups.
Key growth catalysts include revenue-generating deals with OpenAI and AWS, supply chain insulation from HBM shortages, and the ability to ramp production ahead of competitors.
Ten of 11 ******* yst ratings are Buys, with the consensus price target approximately 60% above late-June levels, as ******* ysts view company guidance as conservative.
In a world where bigger is better, Cerebras Systems (NASDAQ: CBRS) seems to be well positioned. Instead of linking numerous AI cores together, creating data transfer bottlenecks along the way, Cerebras Systems chips are massive, comparable to dinner plates, housing thousands of cores in each.
