Nvidia (NVDA) CFO Colette Kress told investors last week that the company is seeing "extreme pricing conditions in memory," that the increases have "exceeded our prior expectations," and that they are "headed even higher into next year." Colette Kress said this in prepared remarks on Nvidia's fiscal second-quarter earnings call on Aug. 26, and then delivered the line companies almost never say plainly: "As a result, we are resetting expectations today."
Memory is not an exotic part. It is the DRAM in a phone, the RAM in a laptop, the storage in a game console, and one of the most expensive ingredients in a graphics card… and three companies make nearly all of it. Kress was describing the market for AI server memory, not the shelf price of a laptop, and Nvidia said nothing at all about consumer devices. But those products draw on the same suppliers and the same fabs, which is why a chip company's margin guidance is worth reading even if you never buy a chip.

COUNTY CLARE, Ireland (AP) — British Amateur champion Stuart Grehan didn't flinch when he was 3 down after three holes against the No. 1 amateur in golf. The Irishman rallied to beat Preston Stout on the 18th hole Saturday as Great Britain and Ireland took a one-point lead over the Americans in the Walker Cup.
Luke Poulter of England held off 17-year-old Miles Russell in the last singles match on the course, giving GB&I a 6 1/2-5 1/2 lead going into the final day at Lahinch as it tries to beat the Americans for the first time since 2015.
GB&I had a three-point lead after the opening day its last time on home soil, in 2023 at St. Andrews, only for the Americans to win 10 of the 14 matches on Sunday. The Americans had a one-point lead last year at Cypress Point and lost only one of the 10 singles matches in a 17-9 win.
"We're ahead, but we need to reset for tomorrow," said Poulter, the son of Ryder Cup stalwart Ian Poulter and a senior at Florida. He turned the match in his favor with a 15-foot birdie putt on the 15th hole and a stellar up-and-down on the par-3 16th.
The crowd created a big atmosphere as it walked the fairways behind matches and surrounded the greens on the fabled links along the Atlantic coast in the west of Ireland.

The plan is one of the most common in American retirement: sell the longtime house, move near an adult child and grandkids, and buy something smaller in the same school district. Then a job offer arrives in another state, or a spouse's career pulls the family elsewhere, and the retiree holds a house bought at retirement-age prices in a town chosen for a reason that no longer exists. Almost **** ody plans for this. Here is what it actually costs and what would have to be true for the move to still make sense.

A premium multi-material surfaces platform becoming structurally lighter and more flexible. CSTE designs, develops, sources and markets premium quartz, ICON, porcelain, natural stone and complementary surface products, generating $397.2 million of revenue in 2025, with direct sales contributing 89% of revenue across its largest markets. The company has transitioned quartz production to external partners while retaining product development, quality, brand and customer control, with Lioli providing owned porcelain capacity. This broadens CSTE beyond legacy quartz while reducing fixed manufacturing exposure and increasing sourcing flexibility.
A differentiated model built on reinforcing sourcing, design, brand and direct-market capabilities supports commercial relevance across materials. CSTE combines partner-led quartz production with proprietary formulations, quality ***** urance, design know-how, premium brand recognition and local sales infrastructure. ICON provides the clearest proof point, with Australia delivering four consecutive quarters of y/y growth following the full rollout of CSTE's crystalline-silica-free collection. Porcelain extends the same commercial platform into additional applications, broadening the competitive advantage beyond any single product or manufacturing ***** et.
Growth strategy pairs a structural cost reset with targeted commercial and category expansion. CSTE is completing the partner-led production transition, rebuilding North American customer and channel engagement, sustaining Australia's ICON-led momentum, expanding porcelain and extending brand-led geographic reach. The restructuring targets more than $100 million of annualized savings by 2027 versus 2023, including approximately $22 million from the Bar-Lev closure. Execution is now focused on stabilizing core volumes, improving Lioli's commercial alignment, expanding channel productivity and mitigating the new U.S. quartz tariffs.
Material substitution and selective regional recovery broaden CSTE's addressable opportunity beyond legacy quartz. CSTE's existing and adjacent categories span approximately 53% of global countertop volume, while engineered quartz is forecast to recover and porcelain offers materially faster growth from a smaller base. Natural stone adds further U.S. optionality, while Australia demonstrates how regulatory change can redirect rather than eliminate premium-surface demand. North America remains the largest earnings opportunity, with renovation, ageing housing stock and material substitution providing recovery potential even before a full housing upcycle.

Anthropic, the developer of the Claude AI models, could be the biggest IPO of the year. Based on recent reports, that IPO might happen within weeks.
The AI start-up is planning to release its IPO prospectus after Labor Day and will be targeting a public listing in late September or early October, according to a report from The Information. It's exciting news for those who have been waiting for an opportunity to invest in Anthropic, but what's most interesting is how the deal is reportedly structured.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
There are a few unique wrinkles in Anthropic's rumored IPO plans. Details leaked to The Information indicate it might allow existing shareholders to sell shares as part of the IPO, and it's also weighing the idea of lockup periods longer than the standard 180 days. In addition, it may require rank-and-file employees to sell shares through preset 10b5-1 plans instead of during post-earnings windows.
All these moves would be a departure from other IPOs this year, including **** e Exploration Technologies, also known as **** eX, and Cerebras. Neither allowed existing shareholders to sell as part of the IPO, and both have tiered lockup periods in which tranches of shares hit the market periodically.

Andrea Locatelli's 2026 has slid far enough that Yamaha is reshuffling his garage midseason. Starting from the French Round at Magny-Cours, the Pata Maxus Yamaha rider will work with a new crew chief, Emanuele Martinelli, replacing Giulio Nava for the final four rounds of the year, WorldSBK.com confirmed.
Niccolo Canepa, Yamaha Motor Europe's road racing sporting manager, spoke to the WorldSBK world feed during FP1 at Magny-Cours and did not dress up the situation. "On Locatelli's side, the results have been lower than the expectation, we can't hide from that," Canepa said. "We needed a bit of a reset to help him regain his confidence. To reshuffle the people in the garage could be a positive thing."
Andrea Locatelli walks the Magny-Cours track with his new Crew Chief Emanuele Martinelli.
The move comes after a campaign that has fallen well short of what the #55 delivered a year ago. This season he has yet to reach the podium at all. His best result is a fifth in Race 2 at Phillip Island, with his only other top-six coming in Race 1 at ****** en. Porter, who was drafted by the Steelers with the 32nd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, is looking to potentially reset the $30-plus million cornerback market after three outstanding seasons with Pittsburgh.
The Steelers have shown a hesitancy so far to pay Porter premium cornerback money. Khan admitted that the Steelers wouldn't engage in contract negotiations during the regular season, so the two sides would likely need to come to an agreement over the next 10 days.

For the first time since last year's regional semifinal, Satellite and Merritt Island volleyball squared off with the two teams now in different classes.
The Mustangs, coming off two defeats in Clearwater, bounced back against red-hot Satellite with a four-set win on Sept. 1 winning 25-19, 9-25, 25-17, 25-19.
"Definitely happy with the way we came out, especially not having one of our outsides. That was difficult, but I knew the team would step up and not be rattled by it," Merritt Island head coach Angie Patrick said. "The second set, I just don't know. I knew we just needed to get out of the set and we would recover and be OK. I'm proud of the way we finished. Satellite played amazing so it was a really good match."
After controlling the first set, the second set completely fell apart for Merritt Island scoring a season-low 9 points. The Mustangs were able to regroup and find another gear to bring home the victory.
"Reece (Loggins) is so consistent. She's like our safety blanket. Amazing passer and just had a couple bad passes and the rest of the team just really didn't respond to help her out," Patrick said. "It was one error after the next. We were like that's totally not us. We're going to press the reset ***** on and we're going to turn the switch on. That's what we did."

With the AMA Pro Motocross Championship decided, the focus now shifts to the 2026 SuperMotocross World Championship. Now in its fourth running, the SMX puts the combined best of the Monster Energy Supercross and Pro Motocross season in a three-round playoff for the ultimate bragging rights.
Supermotocross incorporates the results from 17 rounds of Supercross racing, 11 rounds of Pro Motocross, to seed the three-round playoffs. Here's what you need to know heading into the first playoff round, September 12 at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
Qualifying runs on a combined points tally accrued through both the Supercross and Pro Motocross seasons. The top 20 in combined points in each of the 450 and 250 divisions automatically qualify and are seeded into the SMX field. An additional two spots are decided by a Wild Card race featuring riders that placed 21st through 30th. Any racer outside the top 30 who won a Supercross Main Event or a Pro Motocross moto is also eligible to contest the Wild Card race.
Once the seeding is decided, the riders' season-long points are reset going into the playoffs. The top seed restarts with 25 points, the second seed with 22, third with 20, fourth with 18, then single-point steps down through the 20th seed who starts with 2 points. Anyone outside the top 20 begins the playoffs at zero.
Playoff 1 uses the same structure as a regular Supercross or Pro Motocross race, with 25 points for first, down to 1 point for 21st. Playoff 2 pays double points and the SMX World Championship Final pays triple. As a result, the format keeps the ***** le live until the last round.

Global liquidity may matter more than the Fed's next rate decision for crypto markets in September, according to Utkarsh Ahuja, founder and managing partner at Moon Pursuit Capital.
In a note shared with Cryptoprowl, Ahuja said crypto could enter another period of volatility or consolidation next month, but said a pullback would not necessarily mark the beginning of a broader downturn. Instead, weaker prices could help reset positioning, which could leave markets in better shape for the fourth quarter.
"Monetary policy, inflation, global money supply, credit creation and financial conditions are becoming increasingly important to the direction of risk ****** ets," Ahuja wrote. "Crypto sits particularly close to that intersection because it trades globally, around the clock, and tends to respond quickly to changes in liquidity and risk appetite," he added.

Cocrystal Pharma (NASDAQ: COCP) may look like another undercapitalized, clinical-stage biotech searching for its niche, and in need of a rescue, but there is more to this story than what meets the eye. Investors glancing at the stock chart may miss the signs of a strategic reset orchestrated by biotech legends, and miss this unique opportunity.
COCP is not a company that lacks science or researchers. It has a drug discovery platform technology capable of delivering broad spectrum antivirals on demand for high value diseases that include norovirus, influenza, coronaviruses, and hepatitis C. If you had to point to something they were lacking then the missing "it factor" was a clear strategic vision. They needed an operator and a commercialization guru capable of aligning the board to his vision and raising the capital they needed on favorable terms to turn a platform technology into an enterprise.
The appointment of James Sapirstein was a transformative moment for the company.
Sapirstein is a high powered biotech exec with an impeccable pedigree. He's not an eager early-career operator looking to make a name for himself. Investors need to realize he joined after decades of experience in commercial pharmaceutical leadership, antiviral development, product launches, and business development. From his bio we learned that he has participated in or led 23 product launches and has driven numerous business-development transactions. His résumé includes founding CEO of Tobira Therapeutics, CEO of Contravir Pharmaceuticals (Hepion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. NASDAQ: HEPA), executive leadership at Serono Laboratories, senior commercial roles at Gilead Sciences (NASDAQ: GILD), and international marketing leadership in Bristol Myers Squibb's (NYSE:BMY) infectious-disease division.

Denny Hamlin is entering the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series Chase with one of the best opportunities of his career to finally capture his first championship.
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver will lead the 16 driver postseason field as the No. 1 seed after putting together a dominant regular season. Hamlin officially clinched the top seed following his seventh place finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He enters the Chase with a 25 point advantage over Ryan Blaney.
Hamlin's regular season was highlighted by an impressive three-race winning streak. He picked up victories at Nashville Superspeedway, Michigan International Speedway and Pocono Raceway, establishing himself as one of the strongest drivers in the series heading into the postseason.
Consistency has also been a major reason for Hamlin's success. After 26 regular-season races, he finished with 1,027 points before the championship reset. That reset puts him at 2,100 points to begin the Chase, giving him the largest starting advantage in the 16 driver field.
Now, Hamlin will try to turn that regular-season success into a championship.

NASCAR's championship format changed for 2026, so before the final 10 races begin, let's make The Chase make sense.
Following the 26-race regular season, the top 16 drivers in the Cup Series standings advance to The Chase. Unlike the previous playoff format, winning a race does not automatically secure a spot. Drivers must earn their way into the championship battle through points.
Once the field is set, the standings reset based on each driver's regular-season position. The regular-season champion begins The Chase with 2,100 points, followed by the second seed at 2,075 and the third at 2,065. From there, the total decreases by five points per position until the 16th seed starts at 2,000.
That creates a 100-point gap between first and 16th before the postseason even begins, rewarding drivers for an entire season of consistency rather than treating every qualifier equally.
Then, it becomes a 10-race sprint to the championship.

INDIANAPOLIS — Spencer Shrader put the final flourish on a remarkable comeback Saturday.
A reversal of fortune that was almost impossible to see coming before the start of the preseason.
But Shrader has looked a lot more like himself for three weeks now, and when the Colts' third-string offense faltered at midfield in the second half of Saturday's 25-16 preseason loss to the Lions, it almost felt inevitable when Shrader lined up for a 60-yard field goal in the third quarter.
He looked like he knew exactly what he needed to get ready. When an injury forced the on-field action to pause, Shrader trotted back over to the team's kicking net on the sideline and took one more practice swing with his right leg.
"I kind of read the situation, felt like I had enough time to go over and get a practice kick in, kind of reset mentally and then go out there and do my routine," Shrader said.

X Financial (NYSE:XYF) reported a dramatically smaller lending platform on August 24. Second-quarter net revenue fell 56.3% year over year and 15.5% sequentially to RMB 993.6 million. The active-borrower count declined 74.8% from a year earlier to approximately 720,258, while the total loan amount facilitated and originated dropped 70.2% to RMB11.63 billion. Shares closed at $5.35 on August 24 following the results.
The question is whether the contraction represents a successful reset toward better borrowers or continuing erosion that improved credit metrics cannot offset. The latest quarter suggests credit performance is stabilizing faster than the business itself.
The strongest argument for X Financial (NYSE:XYF) is that tighter underwriting appears to be improving recent loan performance. The company-reported 31- to 60-day delinquency rate declined to 1.73% from 2.61% at the end of the first quarter. Its 91- to 180-day rate eased to 9.09% from 9.95%. Management attributed the first sequential improvement in several quarters to stricter underwriting for newer loan vintages and additional collection resources.
The average loan amount per transaction increased 21.3% year over year to RMB12,712. Management linked the increase to a transaction mix weighted toward higher-quality borrowers and said newer vintages were performing better. That strategy sacrifices scale but could produce a healthier remaining portfolio if the improvement continues.
Cost reductions also supported sequential profitability. Total operating costs and expenses fell 22.9% from the first quarter, while operating income increased 38.6% to RMB194.9 million. Operating margin improved to 19.6% from 12.0%, although it remained below 29.7% a year earlier.

The NHL has its first $20 million man. Friday, the Avalanche announced an eight-year, $163.2 million contract extension with Cale Makar. The average annual value comes in at $20.4 million, handing the 27-year-old star defenseman the highest AAV in league history. It's just below the league maximum at $20.8M, and the total contract is the largest in NHL history.
Makar's landmark contract comes just a month after Sharks center Macklin Celebrini set a new high-water mark at $18.8 million AAV as part of a five-year, $94 million deal. Though bigger, Makar's deal similarly contains eye-popping signing bonuses: In the final year, at age 36, Makar will be guaranteed a whopping $18.8 million.
The highest NHL AAV has now been smashed four times throughout the past year—and three times this summer alone.
In September 2025, Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov signed a then-record $136 million, eight-year extension at $17 million AAV—resetting the market for the league's stars. In June, offer-sheet drama surrounding Leo Carlsson pushed the Ducks to sign the center to an $18 million AAV deal. But in July, Celebrini agreed to his deal, and Makar knocked him off less than a month later.
Makar is the only defenseman of the four. Along with setting a new high bar in the sport, his deal also ratchets up the market for the NHL's other top defensemen, whose new contracts are imminent: particularly Quinn Hughes, who was moved to Minnesota in a blockbuster trade last season; and Matthew Schaefer of the Islanders, who is coming off of a Calder Trophy–winning season during which he banked rookie records.
