Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) stock is down roughly 20% from its all-time highs in June, a pullback driven by a mix of lofty AI expectations, a high valuation multiple, broader market pressures, the Mediatek-driven narrative, and more recently, Marvell Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL). Despite the drop, TD Cowen ***** yst Joshua Buchalter recently reiterated a Buy rating on the stock with a $500.00 price target.
TD Cowen remains confident in Broadcom's trajectory ahead of the print, and the numbers justify the optimism. Q2 2026 saw semiconductor revenue from AI of $10.8 billion growing 143% year-over-year, above the company's forecast, backed by increasing demand for custom AI accelerators and AI networking.
The company forecasts semiconductor revenue from AI to grow over 200 percent year-over-year to $16.0 billion. Its massive $30 billion in AI semiconductor bookings is also a reflection of the intense demand for their AI solutions.
Management has reiterated its line of sight to more than $100 billion of fiscal 2027 AI semiconductor revenue, a figure that could see material upside if the roughly 10GW opportunity is deployed. This implies that even the $100b could prove conservative.
The firm is also particularly confident about the trajectory of TPU, backed by Google's capital expenditure commentary. Back in April, the company signed a long-term agreement with Google to develop and supply future generations of custom artificial intelligence chips and components for its next-generation AI racks through 2031.

NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) is heading into its August 26 earnings report with expectations already elevated. Wall Street firm Stifel believes it can clear this high bar, with its bull case built around independent checkpoints scattered across the supply chain.
On August 19, Stifel ******* yst Ruben Roy reiterated a Buy rating on the stock with a $282.00 price target, implying roughly 30% upside from current levels. Stifel anticipates Nvidia to beat estimates and raise guidance, noting how its broader coverage preview reinforces the demand case for the stock.
One company behind Stifel's bullish call is Foxconn, legally known as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. Foxconn is the world's largest electronics contract manufacturer and a key Nvidia partner in its artificial intelligence buildout. The company reported second-quarter revenue of NT $2.53 trillion, jumping 41% year-over-year. Operating profit increased 68%, while net profit increased 35% backed by continued strong demand for AI.
Roy cited how Foxconn had its cloud and networking segment cross 50% of revenue for the first time with full-year AI rack shipments guided to more than double. CEO Michael Chiang reinforced this by noting that AI-related business performance will continue to grow in the third quarter and that the company expects significant quarter-on-quarter growth and strong year-on-year growth.
Another company supporting Stifel's bullish case is Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:SMCI). Super Micro is a global technology leader that designs and builds servers, storage systems, and complete rack-scale hardware for data centers. These AI servers and hardware sit at the core of data centers running Nvidia accelerators.

As the debate between grass and artificial turf continues, the NFL continues to have one club in its bag.
On a Thursday conference call with reporters, NFL executive V.P. Jeff Miller reiterated the league's default position regarding the two primary playing surfaces.
"We've made public injury data on grass and synthetic for many years," Miller said. "Last three years, there's no difference between the two in any injury category or overall."
But that's only part of the story, obviously. The players strongly prefer grass, given the overall impact on the body. They feel better the next day, because the forces go into the ground on grass. On artificial turf, the forces ricochet back into the player's bodies.
Beyond that, the occurrence of an injury during a game doesn't always mean the injury happened at that time. Plenty of injuries occur when an accumulation of wear and tear results in something breaking, tearing, straining, etc.

On August 10, Plug Power (NASDAQ:PLUG) held its second-quarter earnings call, and the numbers pointed toward a company closing the gap between its long-promised turnaround and reality. Revenue climbed to $178 million, gross margin crept to nearly break-even, and management raised its full-year growth guidance for the second time this year. CEO Jose Luis Crespo framed the quarter as proof the business is executing, and the underlying figures back that up.
Revenue rose about 9% sequentially to $178 million, pushing first-half sales to $342 million, up 11% year-over-year. Management raised full-year revenue growth guidance to 15% to 16%, up from the 13% to 15% range given last quarter, citing visibility into a historically second-half-weighted business. Material handling was the standout. Plug deployed 1,670 GenDrive units in the quarter, more than doubling the 39 units deployed in the second quarter of last year. Service revenue grew 82% year-over-year to $29.8 million with a 27% margin, and two of the company's largest material handling customers are planning to refresh more than 20,000 GenDrive units over the next three years, a multi-year revenue base already locked in.
The electrolyzer segment added fresh wins too, including a 50 MW order tied to a final investment decision at the Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub in Australia, a 30 MW UK project reaching FID, and selection for a 275 MW feed study in Quebec. Management also pointed to European regulation, including Spain's draft renewable fuels framework, as a potential driver of roughly 10 GW of electrolyzer demand by 2030.
Despite the progress, the business remains unprofitable across every segment. Gross margin was still negative at roughly -0.9%, and the fuel segment, while improved to -48.8% from -91% a year ago, remains deeply unprofitable. GAAP EPS was a loss of $0.14, weighed down by about $104 million in non-cash mark-to-market charges tied to convertible debt and warrants. The reported 50% year-over-year drop in operating expenses to $62 million leaned heavily on a $39.7 million recovery of previously impaired ****** ets, including a $37 million gain from a customer contract dispute settled in June, meaning the underlying cost base improved less than the headline number implies. Cash usage of $61 million for the quarter, while down 58% sequentially, still represents ongoing burn.
The company's liquidity plan depends in part on non-dilutive financing, including a July transaction expected to generate about $80 million from ****** et sales, of which only $47 million had been received as of the call. Positive EBITDA in the fourth quarter remains a target management reiterated rather than a result already delivered.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Five of the six children of former Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss still intend to sell their remaining minority ownership of the NBA team despite the opposition of their sister, Jeanie.
Johnny, Jimmy, Janie, Joey and Jesse Buss reiterated their stance Tuesday in a statement issued to ESPN, saying they "remain united in that decision. ... We intend to move forward thoughtfully, respectfully and through the appropriate process."
The five Buss siblings said Monday they had voted to sell the family trust's remaining 17.8% stake to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger, who are acquiring majority ownership from Mark Walter.
Jeanie Buss announced her intention to fight back against the plan later Monday through a letter from her attorney, Adam Streisand. Jeanie Buss claims the siblings can't sell the trust's ownership shares without her approval.
If the five siblings are able to sell their remaining ownership, Jeanie Buss would no longer be able to serve as the Lakers' governor, a position she is scheduled to hold until at least 2030 under the deal struck with Walter last year when he purchased majority control of the team at a valuation of $10 billion.

The Denver Broncos had a fight break out on Day 13 of training camp practice.
The dust-up happened a few players after quarterback Bo Nix was taken to the ground. Defenders aren't supposed to touch quarterbacks during practice, which defensive coordinator Vance Joseph reiterated after practice.
"Bo's our quarterback, and we don't want anyone near Bo," Joseph said.
Nix was fiery on the field, but he brushed off the fight after practice.
"I love it," the QB said. "It's football. It's getting me ready for the games coming up. It's a physical practice out there, played by physical people. It got intense and we were just really enjoying it. Sometimes in the dog days of summer, practice gets long, and the intensity runs high."

Nick Reiner has reiterated his demand for access to his family's trust fund in a Friday declaration, obtained and reviewed by TheWrap. The document argues that a portion of the fund became "due and payable" to Reiner upon turning 30 years old and that he hadn't been informed by a prior trustee that the sum was owed to him.
Reiner is charged with the murder of his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and producer Michele Reiner, who were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood, Calif. residence Dec. 14. Reiner has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In his new filing, Reiner argues that he did not give "consent to any Trustee of my Trust to withhold, defer or retain" his distribution that unlocked at the age of 30, estimated at the value of $558,000.
In a response objecting to Reiner's petition, also obtained and reviewed by TheWrap, the defense argues that Paul Kanin, a former successor trustee, cannot act against the new trustee, Jodie Pais Montgomery, because he no longer controls the trust's ***** ets. The document also argues that Reiner's allegations of misconduct mischaracterize "ordinary, necessary features of trust administration and succession."
"Nick's sense of urgency is real, but it did not arise in a vacuum," argues the objection. "It arises from the deaths of his parents, the very settlors of the Trust at issue, and Nick is presently accused of causing those deaths. While Nick is presumed innocent of that accusation (and nothing in this Response and Objection should be read to suggest otherwise), no one, not this Court, nor the parties, knows how the criminal proceedings against Nick will ultimately resolve. A trustee administering a trust under that uncertainty is bound by the same fiduciary obligations as any trustee."

Louis Foster chances for his first IndyCar Series win came to an abrupt end near the halfway point of the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham.
After starting on pole, the 23-year-old Briton was out front and in control of the 90-lap race. An untimely caution during the pit cycle caught Foster before he had stopped, while several rivals had already pitted, dropping him down the order after he came in from the lead on lap 33.
Two further cautions over the next seven laps set up a charge from Foster on the lap-40 restart. He propelled by the likes of reigning and four-time IndyCar champion Alex Palou, Will Power, and Graham Rahal, among others, to move from eighth to fourth.
Summing up his run at the front of the field for IndyCar's first race in Markham, Foster spoke to the fine margins at this track and reiterated Mick Schumacher's concern about the concrete walls themselves.
"I'll survive," Foster said. "I'll be all right. Yeah, just frustrating. It was so fast. But yeah, I went for a move on Marcus and thought I left enough room to the wall. I mean, I got halfway around it almost, but because we don't have these radius walls here, we just catch the edges.

Christian Gonzalez still isn't ready to return to practice, according to New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel on Saturday.
It was reiterated by Vrabel that Gonzalez's absence is not contract-related. The star cornerback is currently dealing with an injury that is believed to have happened late in Monday's practice.
There have been concerns that Gonzalez was taking his contract-negotiating tactics to another level. The sides have been discussing an extension that could make Gonzalez the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL. However, they have yet to come to an agreement at the midway point in August.
Vrabel remains confident that Gonzalez will be available for the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks if healthy.
Gonzalez has missed 17 games over three seasons due to previous injuries.

Tottenham's pursuit of Savinho has moved back into focus after Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed the winger missed training through illness, with Spurs still working on a deal for one of their leading attacking targets. According to Standard, the Brazil international remains firmly on Tottenham's radar as they try to sharpen Roberto De Zerbi's frontline before the window closes on September 1.
Maresca addressed Savinho's absence before the Community Shield meeting with ***** nal and said, "Yesterday he was not part of the session," before adding, "He was a bit ill." The City boss then made clear a final call was still to come, saying, "We'll see today, the session is in the afternoon, we'll see how it is and we'll decide."
Those comments arrive at a time when Tottenham are understood to be advancing their thinking around a possible move. Savinho has been described as a priority option for much of the summer, and the wider context makes the situation especially notable. The 22-year-old is reported to want more regular first-team football after starting only seven Premier League matches last season and scoring once.
There has also been fresh reporting that Savinho has reiterated his wish to leave the Etihad and join Spurs. Any deal would still be expensive, with City said to want around £65 million for a player they signed from Troyes for £30m in 2024. That valuation is significant, though Tottenham have already shown major ambition in this market.

The bulls point towards Q2 annual revenue growth of 53% and EBITDA margins ranging between 80% to 85%. Additionally, the bulls also believe that the post earnings share price movement has led to a healthier valuation. With AppLovin Corporation (NASDAQ:APP) now trading at a forward P/E ratio of 21.23, the bulls believe that the modest multiple does not reflect the firm's AI potential.
However, the bears argue that the AXON model growth appears to be slowing as AppLovin Corporation (NASDAQ:APP) posted a modest 4% quarter-over-quarter revenue growth in Q2. They outline that if the slowdown persists, then the firm might lose out on gains made in its AI-driven market. Additionally, the bears are also wary about AppLovin Corporation (NASDAQ:APP) replicating its growth in the gaming market in other areas such as eCommerce.

Retail investors were steadfast for nearly eight weeks after ******* e Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX) went public. Despite a 67% post-IPO rise, a sharp return to earth, and a stock that spent weeks trading below its debut price, mom-and-pop traders continued to buy. On August 7, that streak was finally broken.
According to data quoted by Reuters, individual investors sold a net $4.5 million in ******* e Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX) shares on August 7, marking the first day of net negative retail flows since the company's stock market debut on June 12. The timing is what makes the transition interesting. Just two days earlier, on August 5, ******* eX shares fell 13.6% following the company's first quarterly financial report as a publicly traded company, and retail investors responded by buying heavily, marking the fourth-largest single day of net retail purchases since the IPO. That earnings announcement was a mixed bag: ******* eX highlighted faster-than-expected returns from its AI infrastructure spending, though investors were concerned about how long the company's thriving Starlink satellite-internet operation would be able to fund those costly AI ambitions.
While Wall Street expressed concern about Starlink's financial flows supporting long-term AI objectives, Morgan Stanley ******* yst Adam Jonas reiterated an Overweight rating and a $300 price target on ******* e Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX). Jonas claimed that public markets undervalue ******* eX's broader AI ecosystem, citing early synergies between Grok and the Cursor as evidence of a combined real-time data, compute, and intelligence platform.
So the trend went as follows: stock plummets on earnings-day AI expenditure fears, retail buys the dip heavily, and then sells when the stock recovers to its IPO price. Sam North, an eToro market ******* yst, described the sequencing as telling. He observed that a shift from persistent buying to selling is rarely due to a single event, but rather to a combination of profit-taking, position fatigue, and investors reevaluating risk-reward. He said that the sale on August 7 appeared to be retail taking advantage of a share price rebound to take some money off the table, instead of a panicked withdrawal.
None of this indicates that retailers have abandoned ******* e Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX). The stock was still up around 2.4% in premarket trading on August 10 following the selling milestone, and one day of moderately negative flows after nearly two months of feverish buying is hardly a disaster. That said, for a company whose short public life has been defined almost completely by retail conviction outlasting institutional skepticism, the first break in that conviction, no matter how little, is worth monitoring.

Derry City interim manager Mark Connolly has reiterated that James McClean remains employed by the club despite speculation over his future.
Former Republic of Ireland international McClean attended an open training session on Tuesday amid reports that the club are attempting to find a settlement that will end his time at the Brandywell Stadium.
"It was interesting to see the speculation on him turning up for training [on Tuesday]," said Connolly, the Candystripes' director of football who took on responsibility for the first team following Tiernan Lynch's departure last week.
"Ultimately he's trained sometimes and he hasn't trained sometimes due to his age.
"James is a Derry City player and we keep moving forward. He's one of 20-odd players. They're all Derry City players."

It was reported on July 27 that AstraZeneca PLC (NASDAQ:AZN) shares outperformed in European trading after the company reported second-quarter earnings that beat Wall Street expectations and reiterated its full-year 2026 guidance. Core earnings per share (EPS) jumped 18% on a constant exchange rate (FXN) basis year-over-year to $2.63, comfortably ahead of the $2.48 ***** yst consensus. Total revenue reached $15.38 billion, up 5% at constant exchange rates, driven primarily by sustained momentum in its Oncology and Rare Disease units. Management reconfirmed its full-year 2026 outlook of mid-to-high single-digit revenue growth and low double-digit Core EPS growth, expressing confidence in reaching its $80 billion total revenue target by 2030 despite near-term headwind shocks.
The quarter demonstrated strong commercial execution in core growth engines. Oncology revenue rose 16% to $7.33 billion, supported by strong demand for Tagrisso ($1.94 billion), Imfinzi ($1.85 billion), and Enhertu (+31%). Rare Disease contributed $4.9 billion, led by Ultomiris. These gains successfully offset severe pressures in the Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism (CVRM) segment, which declined 15% due to the loss of exclusivity (LOE) for Farxiga in the U.S. and ongoing Volume-Based Procurement (VBP) price cuts in China.
Meanwhile, pipeline updates presented a mixed picture. On July 27, AZN disclosed that a Phase 3 study evaluating Ultomiris in hematopoietic stem cell transplant-associated thrombotic microangiopathy (HSCT-TMA) failed to hit its primary endpoint of event-free survival at week 26 versus placebo. Following the readout, H.C. Wainwright noted that the trial miss represents a "clear positive" for competitor Omeros (OMER), removing a major near-term competitive overhang on its drug Yartemlea and driving Omeros shares up 11% in morning trading.
AstraZeneca PLC (NASDAQ:AZN)'s core profitability remains elite, with core operating margins expanding to 34% in Q2 despite top-line headwinds from generic entry. High gross and net margins signal durable pricing power across its branded specialty portfolio. This strong profitability generates predictable cash flow to fund heavy R&D investments, commercial rollouts, and growing shareholder returns, including a 3-cent increase in the interim dividend to $1.06 per share, while buffering the company against pricing pressure.
The company's expansive late-stage pipeline and high volume of regulatory approvals underpin a multi-year growth trajectory. With 30 major regional approvals since late 2025 and more than 20 high-value trial readouts scheduled over the next 18 months, AZN possesses broad commercial optionality. Continued expansions in oncology (e.g., Enhertu and Imfinzi) and respiratory therapies (such as Breztri and Tezspire) provide direct revenue replacement for legacy products facing patent expiration.

There is a plausible scenario in which Elon Musk's ******* eX (SPCX) reaches its ambitious goal of $100 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR) by year-end.
SpaceX reiterated its goal of reaching $100 billion in ARR by year-end, a target that may not be as insane as it appeared on the company's earnings call transcript last week.
"As a baseline, 2Q's [ARR] run-rate was just $31 billion, meaning management is aiming to more than triple that in just six months. We see this target as likely very achievable, driven mainly by neocloud and Cursor contribution," Deutsche Bank ******* yst and ******* eX bull Edison Yu said in a note on Monday.
"Neocloud carrying the largest load In 2Q, neocloud revenue was $1.6b billion, all coming from Anthropic (ANTH.PVT); this deal alone should ramp up to $3.75 billion in 3Q in quarterly revenue," Yu explained. "In addition, the Google (GOOG, GOOGL) agreement is set to ramp up next month and hit full $920m/month rate beginning in Oct. Then most recently, ******* eX signed a $6.7bn over six month deal which we suspect could possibly be with the US government. And lastly, we expect one more large neocloud deal to get potentially signed before year-end considering industry compute supply/demand dynamics. Putting it all together, this could generate $45- 50bn of ARR exiting December."
Here's how Yu estimates this number will be reached:

Ex-Real Madrid star David Alaba has taken to social media this week, to send a message of encouragement the way of Blancos starlet Dean Huijsen. This comes after the latter made the call to take over ownership of Alaba's squad number for the seasons ahead.
Huijsen is fresh off seeing his prominence in Spain's capital reiterated on Monday. After a somewhat hit-and-miss debut campaign in the colours of Real Madrid, the 21-year-old was nevertheless handed an iconic jersey number.
As confirmed by the player himself, Huijsen is Los Merengues' new no.4.
Drawn on his selection by the media on Monday evening, the former Juventus talent admitted that his inspiration was none other than Sergio Ramos.
As alluded to above, though, a day on, Huijsen has received a personal message from the player to have donned the no.4 even more recently than Ramos.

Lane Kiffin's time at Ole Miss was often marred by the troubles he faced while he was leaving the program. But when it came to choosing his destination, there can be few to argue that LSU was the right place for him. As Kiffin puts it himself, the LSU move was simply too hard to resist.
Speaking on the SEC Network, Kiffin made it clear that it was the right decision to leave Ole Miss for LSU, and highlighted conversations with Nick Saban and Pete Carroll that only reiterated that fact.
"To speed up their (Nick Saban and Pete Carroll) lengthy conversations on it, it was to take the (LSU) job. One of them had the perspective of being the LSU head coach, the other one had the perspective of what would your dad say to do," Kiffin said.
"It was the right decision to take the job, there's never a minute, second in the day that I'm in LSU and I don't feel the power of LSU…We've talked about the handling of it, could have definitely been better but those calls (with Saban and Carroll) were "go for it"."
While this was a snapshot of what Pete Carroll advised Lane Kiffin about moving to LSU, the former Ole Miss coach did talk a bit in detail earlier about Carroll's advice to him while deciding about the move.

Aug 10 (Reuters) - A look at the day ahead in European and global markets from Wayne Cole.
Asian stocks are mostly firmer, following Friday's Wall Street rally, though European share futures are off as oil rises amid much confusion over the Strait of Hormuz.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent over the weekend claimed the strait would become "irrelevant" as oil would eventually be redirected through pipelines, giving **** ysts the impression the White House was trying to wash its hands of the whole affair.
Iran said on Sunday that a deal with Oman defining new shipping lanes in the Strait was in its final stages but reiterated that the waterway would only reopen once the United States met other conditions, which seems unlikely.
Meanwhile the Houthis say they have resumed attacks on the Red Sea port city of Mocha, which will be making shippers through the Bab el-Mandeb strait nervous.

The move, outlined in a meeting held last week between Hirdaramani Group director Sid Hirdaramani and General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) CEO Dr. Mohamed Awad, is part of Egypt's continued push to attract foreign direct investment, particularly in export-oriented manufacturing.
According to GAFI, Hirdaramani Group intends to establish Egypt as a regional centre for manufacturing and exports to global markets, leveraging what the company described as Egypt's "competitive advantages".
The group, which operates more than 30 factories across several countries and employs over 55,000 staff, reported annual revenues of approximately $1.2bn with monthly garment production ranging from 12 million to 18.4 million units exported internationally.
During the meeting, Dr. Awad reiterated GAFI's support for facilitating Hirdaramani's expansion, highlighting the importance of attracting international manufacturers as part of Egypt's strategy to grow its export base and deepen local industrial capabilities.
He stated that such investments help integrate Egypt further into global supply chains and support the development of local supplier industries capable of meeting high international standards.

Over the weekend, Cena shared a photo of the current Complex cover star to Instagram, albeit without a caption or additional context.

Micron Technology (MU) shares dropped in late July when a Chinese rival's stock market debut instantly minted one of the country's most valuable companies.
Investors read it as a warning sign for the world's AI memory leaders. Bank of America read the same headlines and reached the opposite conclusion.
On August 3, BofA ***** yst Vivek Arya reiterated his Buy rating on Micron and held his price objective at $1,550, implying steep upside from current levels, according to a BofA Research note. Shares climbed as much as 8.3% that day.
That anxiety is understandable on the surface. CXMT, formally ChangXin Memory Technologies, held just 8% of the global DRAM market as of the second quarter, compared with Micron's 22%, according to Counterpoint Research data cited by CNBC. But the company is scaling capacity at a pace few Western chipmakers have managed.

CXMT, formally ChangXin Memory Technologies, held just 8% of the global DRAM market as of the second quarter, compared with Micron's 22%, according to Counterpoint Research data cited by CNBC. But the company is scaling capacity at a pace few Western chipmakers have managed.

Between the trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, the draft, and free agency negotiations starting on June 30, the Miami Heat are keeping themselves busy building a new contender in the East. So what has Miami done so far, and what is next for them?
On June 22, the Miami Heat traded Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, the No. 13 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, two future first-round picks, a future pick swap, and a future second-round pick for Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis.
This trade marks the beginning of a new Miami Heat, finally pairing a superstar with franchise player Bam Adebayo. Bobby Portis also comes in as a strong backup for the frontcourt duo. A few Heat players have expressed their excitement to play alongside Antetokounmpo. Davion Mitchell, for example, has already been to Greece to work out with Giannis.
Antetokounmpo and Portis sat down for their intro pressers on July 16. Bobby Portis began at 12:30 p.m. and described his excitement in playing for a team he rooted for growing up, "I was born to be a Heatle…my favorite team growing up."
Giannis Antetokounmpo's presser followed at 3:00 p.m. Throughout the presser, he reiterated his work ethic and established his desire to bring championships to the 305, "One of my goals is to win a lot of championships…I think this is the best route for me to do that."

DHAKA, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Windows were smashed and petrol bombs hurled at former Bangladesh cricket captain Shakib Al Hasan's residence after he joined ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's first public media interaction since her 2024 removal from power, in which she vowed to return in December.
Police said a group of people attacked Shakib's ancestral home in Magura town, about 170 km (105 miles) southwest of the capital Dhaka on Wednesday, causing a fire on the upper floor of the residence. The property was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported.
Reuters was unable to reach Shakib for comment on the attack.
The attack came hours after Shakib, a former Awami League lawmaker, joined a virtual event organised by the Foreign Correspondents' Club of South Asia in New Delhi. During the audio address, Hasina reiterated that she would return to Bangladesh, where she has been sentenced to death.
Shakib, who was elected to parliament as an Awami League candidate in January 2024, has remained outside Bangladesh since the student-led uprising that toppled Hasina's government. He faces multiple investigations, including over allegations of murder, embezzlement, fraud and money laundering.
