Jul. 23—MENNO, S.D. — Parkston Post 194 punched its ticket to the Class B American Legion state tournament for the third consecutive season after defeating Platte/Geddes Post 115 by a score of 6-2 in the Region 4B championship game on Thursday.
With the victory, Parkston went a perfect 3-0 in the regional tournament and advanced to the state tournament scheduled for July 31 through Aug. 4 in Madison.
Parkston wasted little time taking the lead, scoring in the top of the first inning when Grady Bowar delivered an RBI single that plated Mason Jervik for a 1-0 advantage. Platte/Geddes answered in the bottom of the second, pushing across a run to even the game at 1-1.
Post 194 regained the lead with a run in the third inning before breaking the game open in the fifth. Parkston scored three times in the frame to build a comfortable 5-1 cushion and put the WhiteCaps on their heels. P/G scratched across its final run in the bottom of the sixth to trim the deficit, but Parkston responded in the seventh with a sacrifice fly to right field for an insurance run and a 6-2 lead.
Kash Neugebauer turned in a strong outing on the mound, pitching six innings while allowing just three hits and two runs. Johnny Weber took over in relief and retired the side in the seventh to secure the regional championship and send Parkston back to the state tournament.

Energy stocks have regained momentum in 2026. Oil prices remain well above their long-term averages, global demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) continues to grow, and electricity consumption is accelerating as artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and electrification place new demands on the power grid.
Not every energy company will benefit equally. But if you're looking for stocks with clear catalysts over the next 12 months, these three stand out.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) has built one of the oil industry's lowest-cost, highest-return businesses. And its biggest advantage is Guyana, where the company has now discovered more than 11 billion barrels of recoverable oil equivalent, making it one of the largest oil discoveries in decades. Production recently surpassed 700,000 barrels per day, and management expects Guyana to produce about 1.7 million barrels per day by 2030.
That country is also one of the world's lowest-cost oil sources, with break-even prices estimated at less than $35 per barrel. That allows Exxon to remain highly profitable even if crude prices sink.

Fred Alger Management, an investment management company, released its "Alger Weatherbie Specialized Growth Fund" second-quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. U.S. equities experienced a strong recovery in Q2 2026, with the S&P 500 Index gaining 15.2%, marking its best quarter since 2020. A ceasefire between the United States and Iran and accelerated investment in artificial intelligence (AI) regained market optimism in the quarter, leading the Information Technology and Industrials sectors upward, and Energy and Utilities lagged because of falling oil and gas prices. In June, the Federal Reserve maintained steady interest rates, but the meeting had a hawkish tone. As AI transitions into its agentic phase, opportunities are identified within sectors adopting the technology. The Weatherbie Specialized Growth Fund's Class A shares outperformed the Russell 2500 Growth Index in the quarter. The Industrials and Information Technology sectors contributed to the relative performance, whereas Financials and Consumer Discretionary sectors detracted. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.

During the quarter, shares contributed positively to performance after the company reported strong first-quarter results that were consistent with management's recent positive commentary. Investor sentiment was further supported by robust organic growth, continued momentum in its mature Raleigh market, and the view that full-year guidance may prove conservative given the company's current operating trajectory."

Lille OSC have struck an agreement to sign Sevilla's Tanguy Nianzou (24), according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Having come through the ranks at Paris Saint-Germain, Nianzou decided to join Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020, following the expiry of his contract. However, things did not go as planned in Germany, where he suffered numerous injuries and made just 28 appearances (one goal, one ***** ist), before joining Sevilla two years later.
His spell in Spain was also marked by several setbacks, due to a lack of full fitness that he never fully regained, resulting in the French defender making just 62 appearances over four seasons.
He is now set for a return to France. An agreement between Lille and Sevilla has been struck. In financial difficulty, the latter were keen to facilitate a deal in order to decrease their wage bill. The value of the deal has not been revealed.
Nianzou is now all set to undergo a medical with Les Dogues. Should he pass the medical, the defender would sign his contract next week.

Matt Payne streaked clear in his Grove Racing Ford Mustang to dominate the second Supercars race at Townsville in an otherwise exciting contest on Saturday.
Payne started the 68-lap race from second and, after the first pit cycle played out, found himself 11 seconds clear of any of the challengers.
His lead was beyond 10 seconds for all of the second half of the race, so large that at one stage, he discussed with his engineer their tyre strategy for Sunday's 200km outing.
Payne's cause was ******* isted significantly when Brodie Kostecki's crew had a problem getting his left-rear wheel changed at his first pit stop and by the time he regained the track, he had lost four places.
The ******* Johnson Racing Mustang was quick but did not quite have the race pace of Payne and 2023 champion Kostecki was rewarded with a podium finish in third place.

India and England shared the honours on an engrossing opening day of the historic first-ever women's Test at Lord's, with the visitors posting 285 before reducing England to 21/1 at stumps on Friday.
After England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt won the toss and chose to field, India appeared well placed for a much bigger total thanks to impressive half-centuries from Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma. However, a late collapse ensured England regained control before the close of play.
The hosts then negotiated 11 overs in fading light but lost opener Tammy Beaumont cheaply, leaving the match finely balanced heading into Day 2.
India endured a shaky start after losing Shafali Verma and Yastika Bhatia early, but Smriti Mandhana once again showcased her class with a fluent innings of 83 off 108 **** . The left-hander was positive from the outset, driving elegantly through the covers and punishing anything overpitched. She struck 11 fours and a six while stitching together crucial partnerships that helped India recover from the early setbacks.
Jemimah Rodrigues looked comfortable during her brief stay, adding a valuable stand with Mandhana before throwing away a promising start.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur then joined Mandhana to steady the innings with an important 89-run partnership. While Mandhana played the aggressor, Harmanpreet anchored the innings with a patient 58 off 121 deliveries, ensuring India remained in a commanding position through the afternoon session.
At 190/3, India looked set to cross the 350-run mark. But Mandhana's dismissal shifted the momentum dramatically.
England's spinners, led by Sophie Ecclestone, exploited the ageing ball brilliantly. Ecclestone extracted sharp turn and bounce to finish with 3/68, while debutant Mady Villiers made an immediate impact as India slipped from a position of strength.
With wickets falling regularly around her, Deepti Sharma produced a composed knock under pressure. The experienced all-rounder compiled a valuable 57 from 87 **** , striking seven boundaries and guiding India to a competitive 285 before becoming the last batter to fall in the 75th over.
England had only 11 overs to negotiate before stumps and suffered an early setback when Kranti Gaud dismissed Tammy Beaumont for just two. Maia Bouchier looked **** ured during her unbeaten 17, while captain Heather Knight remained unbeaten on one as England closed the day on 21/1, trailing India by 264 runs.
India: 285 all out in 74.5 overs (Smriti Mandhana 83, Harmanpreet Kaur 58, Deepti Sharma 57; Sophie Ecclestone 3/68, Issy Wong 2/41)
England: 21/1 in 11 overs (Maia Bouchier 17*, Heather Knight 1*; Kranti Gaud 1/8)

Two-division Rajadamnern Stadium World Champion Petsiam T2A Waterubon continued his rise with an emphatic victory over promotional newcomer Nihad "Shiekh" Taghizade in the co-main event of ONE Friday Fights 161.
Their strawweight kickboxing battle aired live in Asia primetime from Bangkok's iconic Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, July 10, and the action delivered fireworks for as long as it lasted.
After a frantic opening exchange where both men traded heavy leather, Petsiam quickly took control.
The 20-year-old Thai dropped Taghizade with a left middle kick for the first knockdown of the contest. The Azerbaijani striker beat the count and returned to his feet, but he was sent back to the canvas almost immediately, this time from another punishing body kick.
Taghizade once again regained his footing, but Petsiam did not give him any room to recover.

When Portugal’s Bernardo Silva glanced his stoppage-time header inches over the crossbar against Spain on Monday, Rodri could not contain his emotion. The Spanish captain screamed in the face of his former Manchester City teammate, prompting an angry reaction from Silva. Rodri, composure regained in the mixed zone afterwards, apologised to Silva.
“I made a mistake,” said Rodri. “I celebrated when he had missed – I apologised to him immediately.”
The miss secured Spain’s passage to a World Cup quarter-final in Los Angeles, where they thumped Austria in the last-32 and where they will take on Belgium after their thrashing of hosts USA. Yet the miss also preserved Spain’s impeachable defensive record which, more so than any attacking statistics, is the absolute cornerstone for Spain’s record-breaking international era.
Head coach Luis de la Fuente acknowledged as much after the win over Portugal: “This (win) is the result and fruits of collective work - great defensive solidity, of course.
"There is solidarity, effort, sacrifice and everybody runs for one another. Every football idea is present very clearly, but what is beautiful is the attitude these footballers show, they are committed to the cause."

Lille OSC are reportedly interested in signing Sevilla FC's Tanguy Nianzou (24), according to Foot Mercato. Talks between the two clubs are said to have already begun and are progressing rapidly.
Facing significant financial difficulties, the Andalusian club would welcome the opportunity to reduce its wage bill by parting ways with the centre-back, whose contract runs until 2027. As such, Sevilla's management are reportedly not being overly demanding regarding the transfer fee for the Paris-born player.
Having come through the ranks at Paris Saint-Germain, Nianzou decided to join Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020, following the expiry of his contract. However, things did not go as planned in Germany, where he suffered numerous injuries and made just 28 appearances (one goal, one ****** ist), before joining Sevilla two years later.
His spell in Spain was also marked by several setbacks, due to a lack of full fitness that he never fully regained, resulting in the French defender making just 62 appearances over four seasons.

How epic was the Telemundo call of Argentina’s equalizing goal by Lionel Messi?
So good that it left iconic announcer Andrés Cantor ******* se like Harry Kane — by Cantor’s own admission.
Messi’s 83rd-minute goal Tuesday, July 7 against Egypt in the World Cup round of 16 equalized the match at two goals apiece and stunned Egypt, which had led for most of the match. The goal followed a frenzy of Argentine activity as the Albiceleste had looked to extend their World Cup dreams.
And once Messi blasted the ball past the hands of Egypt keeper Mostafa Shobeir and into the back of goal, Cantor’s call was one for the ages.
Moments later, after Cantor, who is Argentinian, had regained his voice, he acknowledged that the moment was reminiscent of when Kane lost his voice.

A terrible gaffe just reminded a number of New York fans of a blunder by one of their own last year.
The US Men's National Team is out of the World Cup, and it happened in embarassing fashion. After a strong run in the tournament saw Mauricio Pochettino's squad reach the Round of 16, Belgium sent the Stars and Stripes home with an emphatic and decisive 4-1 win on Monday night in Seattle.
And the disappointing and mistake-filled performance by the homestanding Americans was wrapped up in one single gaffe that ultimately put the US out of the game early in the second half.
Goalkeeper Matt Freese left the box to try to cut off a deep ball and Belgium run. He played the ball and got just past the Belgium player. However, he kicked the ground while trying to reach the ball, coming well short of it.
Predictably, Belgium regained control and sent a long shot past Freese and defender Tim Ream into the goal for an embarrassing and avoidable score and a backbreaking 3-1 lead.

Under contract with Ajax until 2027, Branco van den Boomen (30) is reported to have terminated his contract with the Amsterdam club, according to information from Mohamed Toubache-Ter.
Now a free agent, the Dutchman is expected to sign for Angers SCO – where he was on loan last winter – on a three-year deal, running until 2029.
A former Toulouse FC player (23 goals and 45 ***** ists in 121 matches), the midfielder left France in the summer of 2023 to return to the Netherlands, where his spell with the Ajaccides ultimately did not go as he had hoped.
Plagued by several injuries that kept him sidelined, at times for many weeks, van den Boomen ultimately never managed to establish himself as an undisputed first-team regular at a club where he had previously played in the youth ranks.
And it was at Angers that the Veldhoven-born player finally regained regular playing time, starting 14 of the 15 matches (one ***** ist) he featured in under Alexandre Dujeux during the 2025-26 season.

The Baltimore Ravens did not add Trey Hendrickson simply to win the offseason. They added him to change the math, and most importantly, close ballgames out when he's needed most.
Things changed after Baltimore reached an agreement with Hendrickson on a four-year, $112 million contract, keeping one of the NFL’s most productive pass rushers in the AFC North and giving the Ravens the edge closer they had been searching for. The move came after Baltimore backed out of a Maxx Crosby trade and regained the two first-round picks it had sent to the Raiders, creating a different version of the same plan: add a proven pass rusher while maintaining enough draft capital to keep reshaping the roster.
The Ravens will take criticism for the way the process unfolded, but the football logic is clear. Hendrickson gives Anthony Weaver’s defense a player who can create pressure without requiring extra rushers. That matters in today’s NFL, and it matters even more in a division that still runs through difficult quarterback matchups, including Joe Burrow and the Bengals twice each season.
Hendrickson, 31, was coming off back-to-back 17.5-sack seasons and four straight Pro Bowls before contract frustration and core muscle surgery in December limited him to four sacks in seven games in 2025. Even with that quieter season, his résumé gives Baltimore something it lacked: a proven finisher who can close games from the edge.
That is where the math changes.

WASHINGTON, June 23 (Reuters) - A U.S. legal technology company on Tuesday sued the federal government, challenging a directive by President Donald Trump's administration that resulted in the artificial intelligence firm Anthropic halting access to two of its most advanced models for users worldwide.
Legion LegalTech Corp filed its lawsuit in Washington, D.C., federal court, saying a June 12 order by the U.S. Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security unlawfully required Anthropic to disable its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models for "any foreign national." Anthropic turned off access for all customers the same day to ensure compliance.
San Jose, California-based Legion says it depends on Anthropic's tools for its software platform and that the U.S. government's action immediately cut off access for members of its Canada-based software development team and disrupted its business. The company builds drafting and case-management tools for attorneys.
"The harm to Legion is immediate, irreparable, and existential," the lawsuit said. "The pace of frontier AI advancement is blistering, and competitive ground lost during a suspension cannot be regained after the fact."

Although he is currently away from Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe continues to awe everyone with his amazing skills, especially the ease with which he scores goals. Currently playing in the World Cup 2026, with France, the forward is behind only Lionel Messi as the player with most goals, 4.
As was the case in the first game against Senegal, the Frenchman again scored a brace in his side's second game against Iraq. With these goals, he is right behind the Argentine superstar to become the player with the highest number of goals in the tournament's history.
As MARCA has reported, the Merengue star also spoke to the media after this game against Iraq, and while commenting mainly on the French national team, also spoke on his last season with Real Madrid.
When asked about his form coming in to the competition, the Frenchman pointed to his last season with the white club, in which he was once again the team's top goalscorer:
"I did everything I could at Real Madrid, but everyone knows I had a serious injury. Then I recovered, gradually regained my fitness, and returned in the same physical and mental condition, trying to arrive in good shape. But this is just the beginning, and we know we still have many things to improve."

Manel Kape got revenge on Kyoji Horiguchi in comeback fashion.
A rematch nearly a decade in the making served as the main event of UFC Fight Night 279 at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, and like their first meeting, ended in the third round. Kape (23-7 MMA, 8-3 UFC) and Horiguchi (36-6 MMA, 9-2 UFC) showed why they are both among the top fighters in the division with a potential shot at the flyweight ***** le on the line. Although he had to navigate a tough path, Kape found a way to finish Horiguchi at 2:42 of Round 3 with strikes to pull off a great come-from-behind win.
The speed from Horiguchi was on display early with quick kicks to the body as he darted in and out in the first round. Kape patiently controlled the center of the cage and landed sharp counters when he saw openings. Horiguchi secured a late takedown, but couldn't do much with it. The opening frame largely felt like a feel-out round, as both were calculated with each moment.
Horiguchi kept things in his favor early in Round 2 by stinging Kape with a big shot and then securing a takedown. Kape regained full guard and landed a few elbows from bottom, but took his share of ground and pound in return, and couldn't get off his back for the majority of Round 2.
Kape tried to swing the momentum early in Round 3 by creating chaotic striking exchanges, but Horiguchi was able to connect with the cleaner strikes. After resetting, Kape took a breather and then sniped Horiguchi with a clean right counter, putting him on wobbly legs. Horiguchi stumbled forward, and Kape pushed him to the mat while unloading punches from the back until referee Herb Dean saw enough. Horiguchi protested the stoppage, but the decision was already made.

Bud Cauley's victory at the Canadian Open caps a long difficult road back from a life-threatening car accident that cost him more than three years of his career.
Cauley, who moved to Palm Beach Gardens more than a decade ago, won for the first time on the PGA Tour in his 239th start. The victory comes eight years after a car crash that left him with five broken ribs, a broken left leg and a collapsed lung.
A series of complications forced him to miss more than three years, much of it dealing with pain. He regained his PGA Tour card at The Players Championship in 2025 by finishing in a tie for sixth place.

Despite being pegged back after Felix Nmecha’s early opener, Julian Nagelsmann’s side quickly regained control and eventually overwhelmed their opponents. Goals from Nico Schlotterbeck, Kai Havertz (2), Jamal Musiala, Nathaniel Brown and Deniz Undav completed a dominant display as Germany flexed their attacking quality.
As expected, Germany started on the front foot, monopolising possession and pinning Curaçao deep inside their own half. Their early pressure paid off after just six minutes when Nmecha exchanged a neat one-two with Florian Wirtz on the edge of the box before curling a superb effort beyond the unsighted Eloy Room to give Die Nationalelf a deserved lead.
After 15 minutes of one-way traffic, however, Curaçao began to grow into the contest. With Germany showing signs of complacency, **** Advocaat’s side started to threaten on the counter-attack and stunned their illustrious opponents with a historic equaliser in the 21st minute.
An attempted through ball was only partially cleared by Schlotterbeck, allowing Jurgen Locadia to keep the move alive before the ball broke kindly for Livano Comenencia. The midfielder unleashed a strike from the edge of the area that took a deflection off Joshua Kimmich and wrong-footed Manuel Neuer on its way into the net, handing Curaçao their first-ever World Cup goal and levelling the scores at 1-1.
The subsequent hydration break arrived at an unfortunate moment for the Blue Wave, disrupting their momentum and allowing Germany to regroup. Nagelsmann’s men soon reasserted their authority and eventually restored their lead in the 38th minute.
