IfJay Shetty was going to level up his podcast, he figured he needed to upgrade the studio in which he records it. So before his seven-year-old show, On Purpose, relaunched this month on Netflix, the 38-year-old self-help guru says he spent around $500,000 to renovate the ****** e with specific colors and custom artwork (such asincluding a piece of glass covered in bubble wrap) to evoke the kind of vulnerability and fragility he hopes to encourage from his guests.
Sitting inside his sprawling Hollywood Hills home, worth an estimated $8 million, Shetty's digs are a far cry from the Hindu monk principles of humble detachment he once practiced and has encouraged to display. But for a star in media's hottest category—who recently signed a new podcast deal with Spotify and Netflix that will pay him a combined $100 million over the next three years—the studio and residence are fitting.
"I mean, I'm not a monk anymore," Shetty tells Forbes. "Today I consider myself an entrepreneur and a leader in this ****** e, and that allows me to have the ability to use money as a resource to do good in the world and create impact in the way that we've chosen to do that."
For top podcasters like Shetty, the money has also never been better. The entry of video platforms such as Netflix, Hulu and Tubi into a still-frothy marketplace of audio distributors (including Spotify, SiriusXM and Amazon) have pushed paydays into territory once reserved for movie stars. Shetty earned an estimated $21 million over the past 12 months from his previous podcast distribution and ad sales agreement with iHeart Media (before paying taxes and fees to agents and managers) and he i's in line to make far more from his new deal.
He is pouring those earnings into an expanding business portfolio, investing in the Austin-based blood testing company Function Health and founding his own sparkling tea brand, Juni. He also has a production company, Perfect Strangers, which produces the podcast Friends Keep Secrets and has a handful of TV projects in development. The goal, Shetty says, is to build a "conscious empire" of content and products promoting physical and mental health.

NEW DELHI: Former Pakistan captain Zaheer Abbas has thrown his weight behind Indian batting icons Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, insisting that both veterans still have plenty left in the tank and should be part of India's squad for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

But this fighter doesn't do easy.
Having left the GB set up in March, Eccles is determined to complete her Commonwealth Games "trilogy" in Glasgow on a high as she targets a third medal.
The Caldicot light-middleweight, who turned 30 on the day she carried the Welsh flag at the opening ceremony in Glasgow, says she has "more fire than ever" as she aims to repeat her gold medal in Birmingham.

Like most investors, I stepped into the stock market rather cautiously, doing my best to follow Warren Buffett's primary rule: "Don't lose money."
Three decades later, I now realize I didn't fully appreciate the nuances of this tip. Namely, I conflated temporary setbacks with locking in losses. Oh, I knew the difference between realized and unrealized. It's just that, mentally, I convinced myself that some pullbacks never stop. Big mistake. Most do. This mindset kept me out of some stocks that would have ended up being very big winners.

Former women's basketball coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton says she has reached a settlement with the University of Virginia after her sudden firing on April 5, a week after leading the Cavaliers to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2000.
Details of the settlement were not made public. Agugua-Hamilton shared a statement about it on her Instagram account after the ****** ociated Press published a story about the settlement.
Agugua-Hamilton and her representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A spokesperson for Virginia declined to comment.
USA TODAY Sports previously reported that Agugua-Hamilton — widely known in and outside the program as "Coach Mox" — had been the subject of an internal investigation and there were allegations of staff mistreatment within the program, according to four people with knowledge of the situation.
According to a copy of Agugua-Hamilton's contract obtained by USA TODAY Sports, Virginia owed her a sizable buyout if she was terminated without cause. The contract stipulates that Virginia would have to pay her the remaining amount of her base salary, 80% of supplemental compensation, 80% of royalties and any bonuses earned, but not yet received. According to the figures outlined in her contract — which ran through the 2027-28 season — Agugua-Hamilton would have been owed about $1.3 million.

New Jersey Devils defenseman Brett Pesce will compete alongside a number of other NHL stars in the Shoulder Check Showcase charity game on July 30 at Martire Family Arena on the campus of Sacred Heart University.
The event benefits the HT40 Foundation, an organization dedicated to mental health awareness and social connection.

The HT40 Foundation was established in memory of Hayden Thorsen, a 16-year-old hockey player who died by suicide in May 2022. Following the tragedy, Hayden's father, Rob Thorsen, made it his mission to spread the message of checking in on friends, family members and teammates who may be struggling.
"It started out in my gym actually," Pesce said. "A young hockey player passed away unexpectedly due to mental health issues, and it really took a toll on the whole gym. Ben Prentiss, who's my trainer, and his wife, Ashley, teamed up with Hayden's parents and a group of individuals to start a charity game in his honor to support mental health and mental awareness.

Barclays believes the next phase for equity markets will be determined by upcoming Big Tech earnings and a series of central bank meetings, as investors balance resilient corporate performance against mounting macroeconomic risks.
The bank said strong earnings have helped equities withstand higher bond yields, rising oil prices and renewed concerns over artificial intelligence spending, but warned that the investment backdrop is becoming more challenging.
According to Barclays, early second-quarter earnings have exceeded expectations on both sides of the Atlantic, reinforcing confidence in corporate fundamentals.
Despite higher interest rates and elevated energy prices, markets have remained resilient so far this reporting season. However, strategists led by Emmanuel Cau said oil prices and bond yields have now reached levels where downside risks are becoming more ****** ounced.
With no breakthrough in the conflict between the United States and Iran, Brent crude has climbed back to around $100 per barrel.
