Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Parma's breakout ***** an international goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, threatening to hijack Leeds United's long-standing pursuit. Eddie Howe and Daniel Farke are at St James' Park and Elland Road, respectively. The Magpies' interest in Suzuki has intensified in recent days as manager Eddie Howe seeks to further reshape his goalkeeping department following the arrival of Ewen Jaouen from Ligue 2 side Reims.
Following the free-transfer departures of Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow, with the former joining ***** nal, Leeds United had pinpointed Suzuki as their absolute priority target between the sticks and reportedly already agreed a contract running until 2031 to outmanoeuvre parallel European interest from Juventus and Aston Villa.
However, Newcastle's interest has shifted the landscape. Senior recruitment figures on Tyneside have been monitoring the 'world-class' keeper closely since March, when senior scout Mick Tait watched Suzuki keep a clean sheet in ***** an's 1-0 win over England at Wembley. Suzuki's profile has only risen since, having started all four matches for ***** an at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America before their narrow last-32 elimination against Brazil.
Newcastle's urgency is fuelled by growing uncertainty over Nick Pope. The 34-year-old veteran has entered the final year of his contract at St James' Park and has been linked with a move to Ipswich Town.
With Suzuki cleared to leave Parma this summer, Newcastle's recruitment team must act swiftly if they are to win the race for his signature. While Leeds remain in contention and are desperate to secure a long-term successor to Meslier, the prospect of European football under Eddie Howe could give the Magpies a crucial edge.

Leeds United need to sign at least one defender this summer after losing Pascal Struijk, and the Yorkshire team is eyeing a move for Mariano Troilo.
Signing a centre-half is one of the priorities for Leeds in the transfer window alongside a new goalkeeper, and Troilo has emerged as an option on their transfer shortlist.
The Leeds target impressed in Serie A, where he helped Parma keep five clean sheets in 21 appearances (18 starts).
Troilo won 63 percent of his aerial and 56% of his ground duels across those fixtures. He is a player with ‘great potential‘.
The 23-year-old is a fantastic defensive prospect and fits the profile Leeds want. He is young, complete and has resale value.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Juventus have 'booked' Parma's Mateo Pellegrino as talks with PSG for Randal Kolo Muani are stalling, with the Ligue 1 giants demanding €55m.
Juventus risk missing out on PSG forward Kolo Muani, as the French club's asking price appears unaffordable for the Bianconeri.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Ligue 1 giants have further increased their demands for the French striker to €55m, while Juventus' latest offer was only worth €35m.
Therefore, Juventus have reportedly asked Parma to block any potential transfer for Argentine striker Pellegrino, who is valued at €30m and can leave the Stadio Tardini on loan with an obligation to buy.
According to the report, Juventus want to continue talks with PSG over the next 10 days, until Pellegrino's agents arrive in Italy to discuss the striker's future.

Liverpool have begun to shake up their centre-back department.
Giovanni Leoni arrived last summer on a £26m deal from Parma. And over the course of the last few transfer windows Richard Hughes has been busy adding to his stockpile.
Mor Talla Ndiaye was acquired in January and deals were also put in place for Jeremy Jacquet and Ifeanyi Ndukwe. Hopes are high for Jacquet in particular following his £60m signing from Rennes in Ligue 1.
Like Leoni, 19, the Frenchman has been injured but looks set to feature in preseason following his arrival on Merseyside.
Those two are among the top candidates to replace Ibrahima Konate alongside Virgil van Dijk in the centre of Andoni Iraola’s defence.

Juventus have made an enquiry about Parma striker Mateo Pellegrino, according to Gianluigi Longari, as they continue to weigh up their attacking options this summer.
Randal Kolo Muani remains the priority up front, Luciano Spalletti’s clear preference, with talks ongoing, but the Bianconeri are casting a wider net.
In Longari’s report, via AlfredoPedulla.com, Pellegrino’s name came up as a player Juventus have asked about, the Argentine forward coming off an impressive season at Parma.

Good luck figuring out Everton’s transfer strategy right now. Just hours after wrapping up a £21 million (€25m) deal for Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney on Thursday, the Goodison Park hierarchy has been on the phone to Italy. The target? Mandela Keita.
According to Italian outlet Sport Parma, via Sport Witness, initial inquiries have already been made. But don’t expect a quick resolution. This one is messy. Parma want €30 million for the 24-year-old Belgian international, though word from inside the peninsula suggests they will shake hands on €25 million plus add-ons.
Everton, predictably, cannot pay that upfront.
Hamstrung by the Premier League’s strict Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) alongside Squad Cost Rules (SCR), the Merseyside club have reportedly asked for a multi-year payment schedule. They want to drip-feed the cash. Parma aren’t biting yet, especially with Atalanta hovering in the background. They have money to burn after shipping Marco Palestra off to Chelsea for a cool €57 million, with more cash on the way for Ederson. Worse still for the Toffees, Atalanta have already sorted personal terms with Keita. Contract duration, wages, all agreed.
The player is just waiting to see who blinks first.

Liverpool are reconstructing their centre-back line.
Last summer the Reds signed Giovanni Leoni for £26m from Parma. This week they announced the capture of Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes for a fee that could top £60m.
Other promising young defenders like Mor Talla Ndiaye and Ifeanyi Ndukwe have also arrived - safeguarding the position long into the future.
The outgoing Premier League champions require numbers and quality in the position for several reasons.
Ibrahima Konate, 27, has joined Real Madrid on a free transfer. And other senior options - Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez - are out of contract in 2027.

Leeds United have done plenty of the groundwork on Zion Suzuki, but transfer stories are rarely won on groundwork alone. According to Sports View, Leeds have been pushing hard for the Parma goalkeeper, a player described as "one of the best talents", and personal terms are reportedly already in place. That matters, but it does not settle anything.
The issue is straightforward. Juventus are now involved, and when a club of that size enters the conversation, the dynamics change quickly. Leeds may have been frontrunners for weeks, yet Parma now have fresh leverage and a very obvious reason to hold firm on their valuation. The asking price is around €30 million, a hefty figure for a goalkeeper, even one coming off "a string of outstanding World Cup performances for **** an".
There is another layer here, and it is important. Juventus have just sold Giovanni Daffara to Parma for €6 million plus add-ons. That is not incidental business. It creates a direct line between the clubs and, more importantly, it helps Parma prepare for life after Suzuki. As the report states, Parma's move is "a clear move to prepare for life after Suzuki". Once that succession planning is in place, the selling club can negotiate from a position of calm rather than urgency.

Leeds still have a real chance. The report says they "remain ahead of other Premier League suitors like Aston Villa", which is encouraging. But Aston Villa are not the main threat now. Juventus are. They can offer Serie A continuity, Champions League pull and a familiar environment. For a player who has already built momentum in Italy, that can be persuasive.

Leeds United are pushing hard to land **** an goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. Contacts are active. Italian transfer insider Gianluigi Longari broke the news on X, revealing that Elland Road chiefs have been aggressively chasing the Parma shot-stopper since mid-June. It is a bold, expensive move.
Parma are already planning for life without him. The Serie A side recently signed a young keeper, Giovanni Daffara, a move made with the clear expectation that Suzuki is about to bring in a massive profit. His stock has never been higher, fresh off a standout World Cup campaign with **** an. Rival clubs are hovering, threatening to turn this into a bidding war, but Leeds United have been on the front foot for weeks, trying to clear out the competition.

Daniel Farke wants a different profile in goal. A modern, proactive presence. Suzuki offers him an ideal option after a solid domestic season in Italy, where he clocked up 20 Serie A appearances, kept five clean sheets, and made 66 saves while conceding 28 goals. He has an imposing physical presence, completely commanding his penalty box, but it is his distribution that really moves the needle. He launches counterattacks in a flash.
Farke demands his teams build play from the back. It is a non-negotiable part of his tactical setup, making Suzuki the ideal target to initiate attacks.

Aston Villa have identified Toulouse goalkeeper Guillaume Restes (21) as a replacement for Emiliano Martínez (33), should the Argentina international goalkeeper depart during the summer transfer window, according to a report from The Athletic. The Premier League outfit do not want to lose the 33-year-old but would be willing to entertain sensible offers for the World Cup winner should they arrive. Juventus are reportedly interested in his services.
Toulouse would be willing to sell the 21-year-old goalkeeper should their asking price be met. The Athletic understands that Les Violets value Restes in the region of £20m. This figure isn't thought to be an issue for the West Midlands outfit. The French goalkeeper isn't the only target considered by Aston Villa, they are also interested in Parma's Zion Suzuki. However, any move for a goalkeeper is solely dependent on Martinez's future with the club.

Leeds United have entered the Summer transfer window looking to build on their squad following a mid-table finish in the last season. The Peacocks are being tied to a free transfer move for Julian Brandt, following the conclusion of his contract with Borussia Dortmund, a team that he's been a part of for seven seasons at this point.
The German would certainly add some quality depth to the Elland Road attack, as well as some serious experience given his Champions League pedigree, but Leeds' interest in improving their team doesn't stop in the forward section, as they're looking between the sticks.
As reported by TEAMtalk's Fraser Fletcher, the Whites are looking towards a move for Parma's Zion Suzuki in the coming weeks, which will fulfill a long-term interest of adding some shot-stopping ability to their team.
"First up, it was confirmed several months ago that a new goalkeeper will be high on their summer radar," writes Fletcher. "That plan has now taken a small step forward after sources confirmed interest in ****** an star Zion Suzuki."

Cristian Chivu signed on Thursday a one-year contract extension with Inter Milan until 2028 after guiding the Serie A giants to a league and cup double in his first full season as a senior coach.
"FC Internazionale Milano is delighted to confirm the contract extension of head coach Cristian Chivu. Thanks to the contract renewal, Coach Chivu will stay in charge of the Nerazzurri until 2028," Inter said in a statement.
Chivu, who Italian media reported has been given a pay rise to nearly three million euros ($3.4m) net a year, took charge of Inter last summer after Simone Inzaghi left for Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia following a humiliating 5-0 defeat in the 2025 Champions League final.
The 45-year-old former Romanian international's hiring had caused some scepticism at the time as his only previous senior coaching job had been 13 Serie A matches in charge of Parma the previous season.
But Chivu, who won the treble with Inter as a player in 2010, has surpassed expectations with his team cantering to a 21st league **** le and then swatting aside Lazio to win the Italian Cup.

Kylian Mbappe is being scapegoated for Real Madrid's failings according to Sweden and Parma legend Tomas Brolin, who stated this to Hajper.
Mbappe once again reminded us of his quality on Tuesday. During France’s Group I World Cup 2026 debut, he fired a double past Senegal to secure a 3-1 win at the MetLife stadium.
The impressive brace came at a difficult time for Mbappe, who has faced widespread criticism for his club form.
That comes despite 86 goals in 103 appearances since joining Real Madrid on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024.
