Renowned fashion and costume designer Bob Mackie has died at the age of 87.
The designer, who was best known for dressing the likes of Cher and Elton John in show-stopping ensembles, died on Monday.
"It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Mr. Bob Mackie passed away today," reads a statement on his social media pages. "He lived his 87 years to the fullest, fulfilling his dream of being a Fashion and Costume Designer, which is all he ever wanted to do. His genius and extraordinary designs will live on forever, continuing to bring beauty into this world."
His cause of death has not been disclosed.
Known for his flamboyant, over-the-top and extravagant designs, Mackie created all the costumes for The Carol Burnett Show variety series in the '60s and '70s, and Cher's looks for her TV programmes, including The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour and The Sonny and Cher Show.
Mackie collaborated with the music legend many times over the years and famously designed her headline-grabbing outfit at the 1986 Oscars, where she wore a towering feathered headdress and a black midriff-baring ensemble.

NEW YORK (AP) — Bob Mackie, the fashion designer whose visually provocative Hollywood style defined glamour for the 1970s — including putting Carol Burnett in some of her kookiest getups and Cher in her raciest ones — died Monday. He was 87.
"He lived his 87 years to the fullest, fulfilling his dream of being a Fashion and Costume Designer, which is all he ever wanted to do," a read statement on his social media accounts. "His genius and extraordinary designs will live on forever, continuing to bring beauty into this world."
Dubbed the "Designer to the Stars," Mackie won nine Emmy Awards, a Tony Award and was nominated for three Oscars, including one for Barbra Streisand's "Funny Lady," in which she wore a sheer batwing gown. He was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts & Science's Hall of Fame in 2002.
He designed gowns for Madonna, Barbra Streisand, Sharon Stone, Diana Ross and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and concert costumes for Pink. When Marilyn Monroe delivered a breathy, seductive take on "Happy Birthday" at a fundraiser for President John F. Kennedy and the Democratic National Committee, she did it in a sheer, beaded gown that Mackie dreamed up in a sketch.
His influence can be seen in the styles of Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid. His archival pieces are worn today by the likes of Anya Taylor-Joy, Miley Cyrus and Zendaya, the latter who wore a Mackie gown to honor Cher at the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. When Taylor Swift wanted to look like a showgirl on the cover of her 2025 album "The Life of a Showgirl," she turned to some Mackie originals.

Eckert tells PEOPLE that one thing outsiders might not understand about holding ******* les like Miss USA, Miss Teen USA or even Miss Universe is that the women spend "a lot of time on the road traveling."

While travel days can be long, Eckert says the women are expected to "maintain" their appearances — to always "look the part" of Miss USA.
"You're traveling across the world trying to get workouts in, get your nails done, get your hair done, all those tactical things," she explains. "People don't always think of the logistics of it."

She admits that it can be hard, appearing in back-to-back appearances and travel days, but that she is aware she must always show up as the pageant queen she was elected to be, no matter what.

She called it "a very public meet- cute." She then detailed how she lived in Laurel Canyon in the late 70s with Carradine and his daughter Ever. She sweetly called him "my first crush in the movies" and ended the post stating that she and Carradine stayed friends after they broke up. She also maintained a friendship with Ever.
Curtis did not stop there. Over on Ever Carradine's Instagram tribute to her father, she left the following comment: "You both were my first loves. You so little and scared? Him so fast and funny and strong. He taught me what a father was. Laurel Canyon in the late 70s. Another time, another place. MY HAND IN YOURS, Everdawn."

Wimbledon is always a very special tournament and one of the crown jewels of the British summer of sport.

Timothée Chalamet has reacted to his hometown basketball team becoming NBA champions.
The born-and-bred New Yorker was courtside for the New York Knicks' final game against the San Antonio Spurs. Once the game ended, he joined the throng who stormed the court to celebrate.
There, after hugging Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns, he proclaimed to ESPN's SportsCenter that he'd "way rather this than the Oscars".
The Academy Awards reference comes months after Chalamet lost out on the Best Actor award for the second year in a row.
The Marty Supreme star was later seen celebrating in the locker room alongside team captain and NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson.
"You did that bro," he told Brunson as the two embraced. "That was all you!"

Timothée Chalamet, who was a courtside staple at Madison Square Garden during the NBA Finals, told SportsCenter that he would "way rather" have a New York Knicks championship than an Oscar.
"Way rather this than the Oscars! Come on, baby!" Chalamet said courtside at the Frost Bank Center on Saturday night, moments after the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs and claimed the NBA ******* le in a 4-1 series. "Knicks are champions, baby!"
