La Liga giants Barcelona will again be forced to make do without the contributions of midfield star Gavi in the club's next outing. This comes amid the understanding that the youngster has not yet been cleared for competitive action.
Gavi of course set alarm bells sounding across the Barcelona fanbase last weekend. En route to the Blaugrana's 5-0 opening day drubbing of Elche, the Spanish international was forced off with a knee complaint.
After a round of medical tests back at the Ciutat Esportiva the following day, all of a Barca persuasion breathed a sigh of relief, as it was confirmed that Gavi had suffered only bruising.
The 22-year-old was nevertheless left out of Hansi Flick's squad to face Athletic Club on Thursday, yet to return to group training in Catalunya's capital.
And if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, then a comeback this weekend also appears to have been all but ruled out. As per a report from journalist Moises Llorens of ESPN:

The debut in the NFL was hard for Max Iheanachor; he is not treating it as a failure.
Not having participated in the Pittsburgh Steelers' first two preseason games, Iheanachor got his chance to show off against the Buffalo Bills. The debut was accompanied by blunders such as being sacked once and committing a holding foul; nevertheless, the first-round draft pick did not try to hide it but rather accepted it as part of his game.

The debut of Iheanachor was delayed due to an injury, and as a result, he only had two practice sessions before his debut at Pittsburgh Steelers. As a consequence, the debut became particularly hard for Iheanachor, who confessed that things went not as planned.
Nevertheless, the rookie did not wish to blame anything for the poor game but confessed that the debut was very exciting for him, as he could finally play with his teammates.

Aristotle Capital Management, LLC, an investment management company, released its "Value Equity Fund" Q2 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The Fund delivered a 4.32% total return in Q2 2026, underperforming the 13.87% gain for the Russell 1000 Value Index and the 15.20% return for the S&P 500, while its 1.99% year-to-date return also lagged the Russell 1000 Value Index's 16.26% and the S&P 500's 10.21%. The Fund attributed the performance gap largely to limited exposure to the AI infrastructure spending boom, noting that the U.S. has about 4,000 existing data centers and nearly 3,000 more planned or under construction, while AI-related demand has created bottlenecks in processors and memory. The letter highlighted the scale of the cycle, with industry cash flows in key AI hardware areas rising sharply, while the Russell 1000 Value Index's top 10 contributors gained an average 182% year to date and accounted for 9.29 percentage points of the index's 16.23% return. Looking ahead, the fund expects investors to eventually reassess the sustainability of current AI infrastructure earnings and valuations. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Aristotle Value Equity Fund highlighted stocks like Corteva, Inc. (NYSE:CTVA). Corteva, Inc. (NYSE:CTVA) provides advanced seeds, crop protection products, and agricultural technologies designed to improve farm productivity and resilience. The one-month return of Corteva, Inc. (NYSE:CTVA) was 4.69% while its shares traded between $60.54 and $90.97 over the last 52 weeks. On August 27, 2026, Corteva, Inc. (NYSE:CTVA) stock closed at approximately $82.88 per share, with a market capitalization of about $54.98 billion.
Aristotle Value Equity Fund stated the following regarding Corteva, Inc. (NYSE:CTVA) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
Corteva, Inc. (NYSE:CTVA), the seed and crop protection company, was one of the largest detractors during the period. While fundamentals remained healthy, with first-quarter FREE cash flow supported by strength in both Seed and Crop Protection, the stock lagged a sharply rising market as investors focused on Corteva's more tempered outlook for the balance of the year. The management team cited potential second-half headwinds from tariffs, higher oil-related input costs, farmer fuel expenses, and competitive crop protection pricing in Latin America and Asia. We believe the market also weighed the near-term complexity of Corteva's planned fourth-quarter separation into New Corteva and Vylor, including potential dis-synergies from operating two public companies. Nevertheless, our investment thesis remains intact. Farmers continue to adopt Corteva's latest hybrids, varieties, and premium crop protection technologies, supporting Corteva's margin expansion. Meanwhile, the company's R&D-led innovation, disciplined cost management, and path toward net royalty income sho

Alphabet (GOOG) stock entered 2026 with a remarkably tough act to follow.
Its stock soared nearly 66% in 2025, according to Yahoo Finance, with investors buying into its bull case, backed by Google's growing AI position, robust cloud business, and resilient Search franchise.
It's still up more than 10% this year, based on Seeking Alpha data, but has lost 9% of its value over the past three months as investor concerns over spending and returns have collided.
Now, though, Morgan Stanley ******* ysts argue that investors might be overlooking a far bigger AI opportunity taking shape inside Alphabet.
Nevertheless, a lot of the concerns this year resurfaced in Alphabet's Q2 results.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is entering his sophomore season with a new head coach and a plethora of new teammates. Yet, there's one particular teammate who joined the franchise in 2025 who will work most closely with Dart, hoping to boost his morale: veteran quarterback Jameis Winston.
Dart's rookie stint was fairly impressive; he tallied nine rushing touchdowns, 15 passing touchdowns, and just five interceptions. Nevertheless, a few ill-advised risks led Dart to take some big hits, which resulted in concussion protocol mandates.
Dart already has the intangibles to succeed in the NFL, but it's all about execution from this point forward. In Dart's second year, he'll be greatly edified by this wisdom from head coach John Harbaugh and feed off of the charismatic aura of Winston.
Winston has been intentionally thorough with his play in the preseason, posting a QB Rating of 91.4, 15 completions, and 150 yards in the most recent 26-3 exhibition win over the Miami Dolphins. Winston also posted just one incompletion and averaged 9.9 yards per passing attempt in the preseason opener versus the Minnesota Vikings on Aug 15.
Ultimately, Winston's preseason play should leave Dart with an undertone of resilience, a point of reference that Dart will want to replicate when the regular season starts.

I woke up this morning thinking that perhaps this season **** nal might finally be victorious in the Champions League.
As the saying goes, "third time lucky", and maybe that might apply to Mikel Arteta's squadron of Gunners come May in Europe?
Admittedly, to some extent last season couldn't have got much better, after winning the league and also reaching the Champions League final for the first time in a generation.
After becoming Champions of England, **** nal were given the chance of earning the cherished label of Kings of Europe. They failed to capitalise on that opportunity, but nevertheless, the 2025/26 campaign was a memorable chapter in our 139-year club history.
On Saturday 30th May, the men in red and white took the lead in the Champions League final against the odds early on, only to be denied on penalties by PSG after drawing 1-1.

The New York Giants have one preseason game left before the 53-man cutdown. Many players on the back end of the roster received ample playing time in the Giants' 26-3 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Josh Ezeudu played 47 snaps for the Giants in Miami and was then traded to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2028 seventh-round pick. Some possible starters received snaps, but most of the first-team rested.
Nevertheless, we saw a Jameis Winston rushing touchdown, 81 J.C. Davis snaps, and a suffocating defense versus a Malik Willis-less — already bad — Dolphins' offense. Here are some tales from the timeline after preseason Week 2.
Arvell Reese played 10 snaps for the Giants and showed his physicality against the Dolphins' 21 personnel package; Reese took on the fullback at the line of scrimmage and created no rushing room in the B-Gap. Reese's fit in the 4-hole to the weak side forced Jaylen Wright (5) into the arms of three Giants' defenders. The upgrade at linebacker for the Giants will secure the continuity of the defense, which should inspire discipline and confidence.
Tyler Nubin (27) breaks on a football just outside his opposite hash. New York ran Cover-2 third-and-10, and Nubin initially opened to his deep half responsibility, but quickly turned to almost intercept the seam pass. Tyler Nubin tied the Minnesota Golden Gophers' interception record with 13 and has yet to secure a regular-season interception through two seasons.
Dru Phillips (22) has always been effective around the line of scrimmage. He's had 63 STOPs over his two-year career. He surrendered a 30-yard catch earlier in the drive above, but he bounced back by showcasing his strength. He does, though, need to get better in coverage to earn a larger snap share in Wilson's scheme.

NEW YORK (AP) — Serena Williams is back at the U.S. Open for her first match at the Grand Slam tournament since 2022, playing mixed doubles alongside defending men's singles champion Carlos Alcaraz.
Williams and Alcaraz are facing one half of the reigning women's doubles champions, Erin Routliffe, and Lloyd Glasspool in the first round later Tuesday. The next few years will test whether Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) can replace yesterday's blockbusters, and whether Gilead Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD) can become more than an HIV company. Pfizer's (NYSE:PFE) newer medicines are gaining traction, but that growth has yet to accelerate the wider business. Gilead (NASDAQ:GILD) is expanding faster, although its performance remains concentrated in one therapeutic area. For investors, this is ultimately a choice between an unfinished turnaround and a stronger growth story still searching for greater breadth.
Pfizer's (NYSE:PFE) strongest result was the performance of its non-COVID portfolio. Revenue excluding Comirnaty and Paxlovid grew 5% operationally, while launched and acquired products generated $3.2 billion and increased 18% operationally. Growth also came from several franchises. Padcev revenue rose 23% operationally to $667 million, supported by increased market share in bladder cancer. The Vyndaqel family generated $1.76 billion, up 8% operationally, while Lorbrena grew 37% operationally. These products give Pfizer more than one avenue for rebuilding revenue as COVID-related demand declines.
Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) lowered its 2026 COVID-product forecast from approximately $5 billion to $4 billion after low infection levels weighed on Paxlovid utilization. Nevertheless, stronger-than-expected non-COVID sales allowed the company to raise the midpoint of its total revenue guidance by $500 million. Cost reductions provide additional support for the company. Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) expects approximately $6.7 billion in savings from its cost-realignment program through 2029. A separate manufacturing-optimization program is expected to generate another $3 billion, bringing anticipated savings across the two programs to approximately $9.7 billion. This leaner cost base could help Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) preserve margins and continue investing in areas such as oncology and obesity.
Gilead (NASDAQ:GILD), however, is currently delivering much stronger underlying growth. Product sales excluding Veklury increased 10% to $7.6 billion, and HIV sales rose 12% to $5.7 billion, with Biktarvy revenue increasing 7% to $3.8 billion and Descovy sales climbing 48% to $967 million. Yeztugo, Gilead's (NASDAQ:GILD) twice-yearly injectable HIV-prevention medicine, contributed $232 million as its launch gained momentum. The product adds a potentially important growth driver to an already dominant HIV portfolio.
Growth, however, was not confined to HIV alone, as liver-disease sales increased 10% to $877 million, while Livdelzi revenue more than doubled from $78 million to $167 million. Trodelvy sales rose 26% to $457 million, providing further evidence that Gilead (NASDAQ:GILD) is building a meaningful oncology franchise. Management subsequently raised its 2026 product-sales outlook to $30.1–$30.4 billion and increased guidance for product sales excluding Veklury to $29.8–$30.1 billion.

Arsenal have been given encouragement that a Julian Alvarez deal may be possible before the end of the window, as the Premier League champions actively work on a deal.
Atletico Madrid want €150m (£128.4m) for the attacker, who enjoyed a fine World Cup with Argentina, including an extra-time screamer to help down Switzerland in the quarter-finals.
There is still a long way to go before any deal is possible, but the London club are attempting to negotiate that price down, while the Kroenke ownership are taking the view they did on Vinicius Junior, which is that they are willing to back the right big move.
There is naturally awareness that ****** nal could get caught in similar Spanish football politics as they did with the Real Madrid star, since Alvarez's long-desired stance has been to stay in the country and go to Barcelona.
Atletico have nevertheless remained unmoved in their stance that they absolutely will not sell to their Catalan rivals, which has caused some re-assessments from the 26-year-old, who was loudly booed by his fans after entering the game against Villarreal at the weekend.

Manchester United have practically signed Carlos Baleba, but recruiting an injured player has raised many eyebrows.
The Cameroonian has been a popular figure among MUFC directors since last year. However, a deal didn't materialise last summer due to Brighton's hefty valuation (over £100 million).
Moreover, Baleba's recent injury was thought to be the final straw that ended the 22-year-old's hopes of joining the Red Devils.
Nevertheless, the player's knock may have incidentally had a positive impact, with the Seagulls agreeing to lower the price tag.
Last week, David Onstein stunned the Man Utd fanbase by revealing that their club is in advanced negotiations with Brighton for Baleba.

Buy now, pay later products provider Affirm Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:AFRM) is one of Cramer's favorite stocks. The shares are down by 3% over the past year and are up by 4% year-to-date. On multiple occasions, the CNBC TV host has praised the firm's CEO. For instance, in January, Cramer predicted that the shares would touch the $100 mark. The latest closing price for Affirm Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:AFRM) is $77. Here is what he said about the firm on August 17th:
"I think that Workday, that was a good run. How about that. That was a very good run. And I noticed that Salesforce already started coming down. We do have a Salesforce conference coming up and I know Marc Benioff's going to say that everyone's just dead wrong. Can everyone be dead wrong? Conceivably. But, what I don't like is, I didn't put Affirm in this group. And the reason I didn't put Affirm in this group because that one should be at a hundred. That one is real. That one has the growth that I want. That one has the CEO that I liked. That one has short sellers and people who don't really understand that Levchin, he's brilliant. Max is brilliant. And I just think that that one is the only one I would buy right here."
As is with most stocks, the debate for Affirm Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:AFRM) surrounds its valuation as well. The stock currently trades at a forward P/E ratio of 39.84, which is more than twice that of JPMorgan and more than thrice that of PayPal. As a result, the growth expectations for Affirm Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:AFRM) appear to be rather high. They are a strong gross merchandise volume (GMV) growth of 35% annually, revenue less transaction costs growth of 41% (to outpace GMV growth) and active customer growth of 22%. Consequently, the firm appears to be feeding its merchant growth into customer growth.
Additionally, Affirm Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:AFRM)'s point of sale algorithmic data also enables it to adjust and avoid defaults. Yet, at the end of the day, the firm nevertheless relies on consumer spending and interest rates, and economic turmoil stemming from inflation could generate headwinds through both of these. Additionally, funding costs are also trickier due to the firm's reliance on private credit markets.
Shifting towards Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM), the shares are down by 17.5% year-to-date. Over multiple appearances, Cramer has discussed the split in the firm's AI and non-AI businesses. This split is also at the heart of the debate surrounding the firm. Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM)'s Agentforce, which is its AI platform, marked 205% annual ARR growth, $260 million sequential growth, 152% sequential token processed growth and 111% in sequential work unit growth to indicate that AI-related tailwinds are in place. Yet, at the same time, overall contribution by Agentforce remains muted as it represented two points of Q1 revenue growth. Additionally, the AI and data ARR also includes figures from Informatica, which makes it difficult to ****** yse the impact of Ag

Ryan Jeffers has an excellent matchup and park factors to hit a home run tonight.
Samuel Basallo and Nathaniel Lowe didn't hit home runs on Friday. Sadly, that means the MLB best home run props have fallen to a 20-79 record, with three no-bets.
The home run bets have spent nearly the entire year in the black. After getting both picks wrong on Friday, profits disappeared. Anyone who has bet $100 on each of the suggested home run props has lost $50.
It's a disappointing outcome for spending all season grinding the data. Nevertheless, it's part of the betting game. Home run props are also long-shot wagers, and most won't cash. That said, getting just a few right can generate sizable profits, and there's time to right the ship and generate a profit on the home run bets for the 2026 MLB season.
Turning things around can start tonight with two teammates in a drool-inducing matchup and a homer-friendly ballpark. Their home run props are admittedly chalky, but they offer enough value to bet when factoring in their numbers and the conditions tonight.

Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the DFL-Supercup on Saturday, but Joshua Kimmich believes the performance left a lot to be desired.
Even if Bayern headed into the break 2-0 up, Kimmich was critical of the first-half performance.
"To be honest, I didn't think the first half was that good. Of course, we were leading 2-0, but nevertheless, we have to say that we're happy that we won today," Kimmich said, according to Kicker.
Kimmich admitted that Bayern are "still a long way" from reaching the level of performance he expects this season and have "a lot of work" to do.
"We weren't active enough when we had the ball. We didn't always manage to support each other, and we allowed a little too much – especially from crosses. We have to improve significantly in that area," he said.

Dolly Parton says she is still recovering from the health problems that have changed some of her public plans, but slowing down creatively does not appear to be part of the conversation.
In a new PEOPLE interview, the 80-year-old country legend said she has been through some "hard times" with her health and acknowledged that she put some of her own needs aside while caring for her late husband, Carl Dean. "Even though I'm still healin', I'm still workin'," she said.
Dean died in March 2025 at age 82 after nearly 60 years of marriage to Parton. She told the publication that she is now dealing with health issues she "just didn't pay attention to" while looking after him, without identifying one diagnosis as the explanation for everything she has been experiencing.
Her workload nevertheless remains extensive. Parton is preparing to open her SongTeller Hotel and the largest museum exhibition ever devoted to her life, while continuing to work on music, products and even an early-stage idea for avatar performances that could offer fans another way to experience her songs.
Parton's latest comments add context to the health updates she has been sharing throughout 2026. She told PEOPLE that this is not the first difficult stretch she has experienced physically, recalling that health issues also sidelined her for months during the early 1980s. What feels different now, she said, is the intensity of the attention surrounding every update in the social-media era.

The summer of 2026 saw a wave of movement across the NBA. As multiple stars changed teams, some teams changed owners in what has been a transformative period. For Lakers guard Bronny James, however, it's just another typical summer.
With the young guard currently with his team at Luka Doncic's basketball minicamp, he seems completely unfazed by recent events, particularly the departure of his dad, LeBron. When asked about it by a fan, James Jr. shrugged it off, reminding him that he has access to the King anytime he wants.
Bronny, 21, was drafted 55th overall in 2024. Coming from USC, Bronny had some college experience, but it was heavily limited due to a cardiac arrest he suffered before his Freshman year. Nevertheless, Bronny worked hard to return to action and regain his strength, earning a spot on the Lakers alongside his dad, LeBron.
Together, the pair made history as the first father-son duo in NBA history. It was a dream come true for both father and son, who shared plenty of special moments on the court. For Bronny, in particular, the experience helped build his confidence, develop his game, and ensure a comfortable transition to professional basketball.
So when LeBron suddenly left the Lakers this summer, it raised many questions about Bronny's future. Initially, some thought he might be cut, while others speculated that he would follow LeBron to his next NBA team. As it would turn out, though, neither is the case. Even with LeBron set to suit up in Philadelphia next season, Bronny remains committed to the Lakers, as he's proving with his attendance at Luka's minicamp.

Ruby Rose is sharing a deeply personal glimpse into what she says was Hayden Panettiere's private pain before the actress died at 36. Rose posted screenshots of text messages she says came from Panettiere, with the exchanges focusing in part on the difficult relationship Panettiere had publicly described with her estranged mother, Lesley Vogel.
One screenshot showed a contact saved as "Hayden" telling Rose that she had been crying over her mother's alleged cruelty. "My god I'm 36 and she can still cause this kind of pain," the message read, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Entertainment Weekly said it could not independently verify the identity of the person messaging Rose. The outlet had contacted Rose's team for more information and Vogel for comment when its report was published.
The content nevertheless echoes comments Panettiere made publicly before her death about her relationship with Vogel. In one of her most candid interviews earlier this year, she described ending their professional partnership at 19 because she wanted the woman who had managed her career to simply become her mother again.

At the end of Q2 2026, the Fund held positions in 27 companies, with 48% of **** ets concentrated in the top 10 holdings. The Fund's strategy focuses on companies priced below intrinsic value to ensure a margin of safety, rather than on whether valuations are high or low. Additionally, reviewing the Fund's top five holdings could help identify its best picks for 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, BBH Select Mid Cap ETF highlighted Guidewire Software, Inc. (NYSE:GWRE). Guidewire Software, Inc. BBH Select Mid Cap ETF stated the following regarding Guidewire Software, Inc. (NYSE:GWRE) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"The Fund's largest detractors to performance in the quarter were Guidewire Software, Inc. (NYSE:GWRE) and Dar ling Ingredients Inc. (Darling). Guidewire declined -17.7% during the quarter, ending with a weight of 3.1%. Guidewire is the leading provider of core systems software to the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry. Guidewire reported strong fiscal third quarter results (its fiscal year ends in July), with revenue growth of 27% and profitability well ahead of guidance, and management raised full-year guidance for both. The shares nevertheless declined because annual recurring revenue (ARR) growth of 19% finished at the midpoint of guidance, the first quarter since 2022 that ARR did not meet or exceed the high end of its guidance, as a couple of deals slipped past quarter end. We believe the slippage reflects timing rather than demand. The pipeline remains healthy, and management noted the fiscal fourth quarter is off to a good start and could be a record quarter. Fully ramped ARR continues to grow faster than reported ARR, and management expects it to grow above the 22% achieved in fiscal year 25, which supports continued growth into future years. While AI is perceived as a risk by the market, a modern core system is a prerequisite for insurers to deploy AI, and early customer pilots using AI tooling have reduced cloud migration costs by approximately 35%, lowering the largest cost barrier to modernizatio

Aston Villa are reported to have made enquiries to explore the terms of a potential transfer for AC Milan player Christopher Nkunku (28), according to reports from Onze Mondial.
The forward, who is said to have been placed on the transfer list by his new manager Ruben Amorim, is also reportedly on the radar of Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. Turkish and Saudi clubs are also said to be monitoring his situation, whilst the Rossoneri are reportedly open to the idea of loaning him out.
Having arrived in Lombardy from Chelsea for a fee of €37m a yeard ago, Nkunku made 35 appearances (17 as a starter) across all competitions last season, proving decisive on 11 occasions, scoring eight goals and providing three ***** ists.
Making two appearances during the Milan club's pre-season, he notably scored a goal against rivals Inter Milan. Nevertheless, Amorim considered these performances to be insufficient to convince him to rely on his strengths for the upcoming campaign.

Arsenal are looking into whether a deal for Juventus' Kenan Yildiz is possible in this window, as Mikel Arteta seeks to complete his transfer plans for an **** ault on both the Champions League and Premier League for the new season.
The Basque has long identified the left side attack as a priority position to upgrade, with Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr having been the ideal target. The Brazilian's decision to stay at the Bernabeu caused **** nal to reconsider the situation, and some thought has been given to waiting until either January or next summer when other deals could become possible.
The club would probably have moved for Bournemouth's Jan Kroupi had it not been for his injury, and that does represent an option for January.
Yildiz has nevertheless been high up on their list of targets, with Arteta especially keen on the Turkish international. The fact he is 21 years old would also represent a shift back to signing talents who can evolve, after two moves in Ezri Konsa and Bruno Guimaraes of buying players in their prime.
The **** nal hierarchy do want to ensure more outgoings, while Juventus would be hard line on a player who is one of their burgeoning talents. They would want upwards of £60m, and also have to consider fan backlash. One solution that has been raised is Gabriel Martinelli potentially going the other way, but that would still require considerable negotiation.

Thus far, 2026 has been chastening for the fallen giants of world football. For Italy, it has been the year of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bodo/Glimt, the Balkan team meaning a third consecutive World Cup took place without the Azzurri, the Norwegian side eliminating Inter Milan from the Champions League. There were other indications of decline – a Champions League table with the reigning Scudetto winners Napoli in 30th or Italy's sole representatives in the last 16, Atalanta, going down 10-2 on aggregate to Bayern Munich – and they combined to paint a bleak picture.
So if Serie A returns with the sense its best days are behind it, some of its historic forces have the same feel. And yet that provided some of the drama last season: two of Italy's three most decorated clubs, AC Milan and Juventus, spurned promising positions to miss out on Champions League qualification. They will instead be the biggest clubs in the Europa League after being leapfrogged by Cesc Fabregas' insurgents from Como. The third of Italy's traditional powers, Inter, cruised to their 21st Scudetto in Cristian Chivu's first campaign in charge; equalling his predecessor Simone Inzaghi's total of Serie A **** les was at least compensation for faring far worse in Europe.
His rivals this year are set to be a mixture of the familiar, with Serie A's capacity to recycle its managers, and an intriguing newcomer. A division where clubs have been starved of funds features two expensive arrivals from Paris St-Germain, charged with bringing goals to the underachievers, and a further influx of English defenders.
Chivu will share San Siro with Ruben Amorim who, in the way Serie A's fortunes have nosedived, seemed the man AC Milan ended up with rather than perhaps wanted, given interest in Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola. It is nevertheless an opportunity the Portuguese did not earn with his wretched spell in charge of Manchester United.
He will presumably import his flagship 3-4-3; whether Luka Modric, who turns 41 next month, wants to be in a central-midfield duo remains to be seen but Milan have backed Amorim by allowing him to make the biggest signing in the Serie A summer: his fellow Portuguese Goncalo Ramos for a club record €74m (£63.3m). It at least should ensure wingers Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic are no longer an ersatz strike duo, even if Amorim's record with centre-forwards was better in Portugal than England.

Nevertheless, Beverley believes that media narratives played a big role in the generally negative public perception of Westbrook, which forced the future Hall of Famer to call it quits instead. "I'm going to be honest. I felt like he had a lot of game left. I feel like he played really well last season. I think the media killed his game. I'm going to be honest. I think the media is so strong that it allowed fans to call him names and have opinions about his game, which also forced team owners, GMs, and presidents to look at him a certain way," Beverley said on the newest episode of his The Pat Bev Show.

Reggie Morris Jr. won't just remember the way Russell Westbrook changed basketball. Even after Westbrook's retirement, his former high school coach chooses to see the way the former Lawndale Leuzinger star is changing the city that raised him. That's even more important than the NBA record 209 triple-doubles. "I believe that his impact on this community," Morris said, "is far greater than his basketball impact." — 8/18/2026 Los Angeles Times
Even during the season, Westbrook made himself available to players on his EYBL teams as often as possible, visiting between playoff runs or at least supporting them through social media. "They feel his presence when he's there, and he's hands-on in the situation," Morris said. "He's not just giving money; he's trying to help the kids, give them a different aspect or a different take on what he knows and give it back to them." — 8/18/2026 Los Angeles Times
"He didn't back down from anybody," said Morris, now the director of Westbrook's Team Why Not EYBL team and the boys' basketball head coach at Redondo Union. "He was fearless. He was relentless. There's never really been a player quite like him. I would say he kind of has, like, a Charles Barkley, a young Charles Barkley spirit, where he was just passionate and fiery. He wasn't PC. He wore his emotions on his sleeves, and he didn't really apologize to anyone for how he felt or what he was there to do." — 8/18/2026 Los Angeles Times

On my podcast yesterday morning, I discussed the implications of Alec Pierce's injury and the strong possibility that the Colts would acquire an instant-impact receiver like Keenan Allen. Later that day, Allen signed with Indy. Now let's walk through the significant fantasy implications.
Allen is not your typical 34-year-old journeyman receiver. He led all Chargers last year in total fantasy points. No longer the same downfield threat he once was, Allen is nevertheless a solid possession receiver who could push for 100+ targets.
This is terrible news for managers who believed Pierce (WR38 ADP) and/or Downs (WR42 ADP) were huge bargains. I was one of those managers, pegging Downs as a must-draft at his ADP -- an almost surefire top-38 wideout with strong top-30 upside. With Michael Pittman Jr. now in Pittsburgh, this thinned-out receiving corps would open the door for Pierce and Downs to build on the former's 2025 breakout and the latter's 2024 breakout.
There are major questions about whether Daniel Jones can feed more than two receivers per game, especially after Jonathan Taylor caught a career-high 46 passes in 2025. Jones was on pace for about 500 pass attempts last season. Between Pierce, Downs, Allen, and ascending tight end Tyler Warren, we might anticipate 400 targets at most.
As a rookie, Warren led this team with 112 looks, and he could easily hit 125+ this year. Allen should be good for 80+. It will be hard for Pierce or Downs to comfortably exceed ADP expectations.

Barcelona have confirmed an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of left-back Jofre Torrents. Before the official confirmation, Mundo Deportivo reported that the clubs had agreed the move and were finalising details for an official announcement. Torrents will join former teammate Marc-André ter Stegen in Amsterdam.
FC Barcelona confirmed the agreement on its official channels, thanking the La Masia product for his commitment, professionalism and dedication and wishing him well in the next stage of his career.
Jofre Torrents celebrates during a match for FC Barcelona.
Ajax first explored a loan for Torrents at the end of last season. Barcelona considered the possibility attractive because the defender had already made his first-team debut but faced strong competition in his position, with a move to Míchel's Ajax viewed as a suitable next step in his development.
That initial plan changed, with the clubs instead agreeing a permanent transfer. Barcelona have nevertheless structured the deal to retain an interest in Torrents' future.
