AC Milan have reached an agreement with Troyes to sign Rangers target Sankhoun Diawara, according to Foot Mercato. The 20-year-old was reportedly on the verge of joining Rangers in a huge boost to Bears manager Derek McInnes. However, the Ibrox club have to look elsewhere for a top defender to boost their chances of winning the Scottish Premiership next term. Milan have hijacked the Light Blues’ deal for Diawara despite Rangers agreeing terms to the Frenchman.
The Serie A club have also agreed personal terms with Diawara, with only the final details remaining to be settled before finalising the deal. While the Bears wanted the youngster in their first-team immediately, Milan only have plans to add him to their under-23s. Then-Hearts coach McInnes had called the stoppage-time penalty decision “actually quite disgusting" after Celtic beat Motherwell 3-2 in the penultimate game to put it on course for its record 56th Scottish league ***** le.
On Wednesday, the Scottish FA issued the four-match touchline ban with one suspended until the end of the 2026-27 season.
Rangers responded by saying it would appeal the ruling.

Allan McGregor questioned whether he could bring enough to Rangers when weighing up whether to return in a coaching capacity.
Despite being part of Barry Ferguson's interim backroom team at the end of the 2024-25 season, he had his doubts and was "shocked" when offered the chance to join Derek McInnes' staff.
The former Rangers goalkeeper never gave coaching a thought during his playing days, during which he became a legendary figure at Ibrox.
However, the ex-Scotland international took up the offer to return to his boyhood club, where he played 505 times, and is "buzzing" to be back as he aims to help restore standards.
"This [offer] took a bit more thought because it is a longer-term thing," he told Rangers TV.

Midfielder Cammy Devlin says it is "an absolute honour and privilege" to join Rangers under freedom of contract after leaving Hearts.
The Australia international, 28, spent five years at Tynecastle, making 171 appearances and scoring eight times.
He has been capped five times by his country and was part of their 2026 World Cup squad, although he did not play a minute.
Devlin, who has penned a two-year deal with the option of an additional 12 months, is the third significant arrival at Ibrox from Hearts this summer.

Derek McInnes refused to be drawn on links with a move for Scotland midfielder Lewis Ferguson but indicated "there's still more work to do" after Rangers made five signings this summer.

The 28-year-old defender has agreed a three-year deal, with the option of a further year.
He began his career in the Rangers academy, making his debut in September 2017 and featuring in more than 50 games before spending three seasons at Aberdeen under McInnes.
"It is a dream come true to come back up the road to the team I support," McCrorie told Rangers' media.
"I am not that little kid who was at Rangers back in the day. I have changed a lot character-wise and player-wise.

Danny Rohl has left Rangers after just eight months in charge to become Red Bull Salzburg's head coach - with the club saying news of his replacement "will follow in due course".

Rohl, 37, replaced Russell Martin in October and steered Rangers into a three-way ******* le fight, but a post-split collapse yielded a third-place finish behind Celtic and Hearts as the Ibrox club ended the campaign without silverware.
Chairman Andrew Cavenagh publicly backed Rohl at the end of the season, but the German now returns to the Red Bull stable, having begun his coaching career at Leipzig under Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Heart of Midlothian will face Austrian club Sturm Graz in the second round of Champions League qualifying.
The Edinburgh club will be playing in the qualifiers of Europe's top club competition for the first time in 20 years after finishing runners-up in the Scottish Premiership following a final-day defeat by reigning champions Celtic.
Sturm Graz also finished second in their domestic league behind LASK.
The Austrian club will host the first leg on 21/22 July, with the reverse fixture the following midweek.
