The Tennessee ******* ans will take the field for another open training camp practice on Monday and will greet some new faces.
One day after adding tight end Matt Lauter and running back Dominic Richardson to take the place of edge Jaylen Harrell (ACL) and tight end Jaren Kanak (pec), who were placed on injured reserve (IR) on Sunday, the ******* ans added a cornerback to the roster.
On Monday, the ******* ans signed cornerback Corey Mayfield Jr. and waived/injured linebacker Sean Brown.
Mayfield originally entered the league as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Baltimore Ravens following the 2023 NFL draft after finishing his college career at Texas-San Antonio. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound cornerback does have two years of experience with the San Antonio Brahmas in the UFL, but has no NFL experience.
Tennessee signed Brown as an undrafted rookie free agent out of NC State following the 2026 NFL Draft. An undersized linebacker prospect at 6-foot-0, 216 pounds, Brown was a true developmental player with some pass-rush upside. He will now revert to injured reserve if he clears waivers and could be eligible for an injury settlement.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Guardians rookie outfielder Chase Delauter was taken out before the third inning of Sunday's game against the San Diego Padres due to mild left hamstring tightness.
Delauter started the game in right field. He popped out to shortstop Xander Bogaerts in the first inning but also made a catch on a ball hit near the warning track by Manny Machado in the first inning.
The 24-year old Delauter has been Cleveland's most consistent hitter throughout the season. He is second among AL rookies in RBIs (57), fifth in home runs (13) and eighth in batting average (.286),
Delauter is also batting .339 (19 for 56) with two home runs and six RBI's this month. He has recorded two hits or more in seven of Cleveland's 14 games in August and had a 13-game on-base streak snapped.

The ******* ans lost a pair of players to season-ending injuries in their preseason opener and they replaced them on the active roster on Sunday.
They announced the signings of tight end Matt Lauter and running back Dominic Richardson.
Lauter gives the team more depth after losing seventh-round pick Jaren Kanak to a torn pectoral. Kanak was placed on injured reserve along with defensive end Jaylen Harrell. Harrell tore his ACL on Thursday.
Lauter spent time with the Raiders after going undrafted out of Boise State this year. Richardson played at Oklahoma State, Baylor, New Mexico and Tulsa before going undrafted and signing with the Cowboys.

Dynamo Dresden took all three points at the expense of promotion candidates Darmstadt courtesy of an early strike. The visitors only have one point from the first two games of the campaign before more challenging fixtures against Hannover and Kaiserslautern.
Boosted by their vociferous fans, Dresden started the game positively. Similarly, Darmstadt once again had a poor start to a game as they conceded inside the first fifteen minutes.
Jonas Sterner scored Dresden's first goal of the season after a superb one-two with Vincent Vermeij. The right-back has joined Thomas Stamm's side on a permanent transfer this summer after his loan spell from Hannover last term.
Florian Kohfeldt made his first substitution at the break as Lars Kehl came on for his debut in place of Yosuke Furukawa. However, it was Marcel Schuhen who was the busiest goalkeeper G early in the second-half.
Darmstadt's captain saw a yellow card for his protest twenty minutes from time when Kai Klefisch saw his second booking of the game. The red card delayed Kohfeldt's next changes as Stoke City loanee Milan Smit and Yannik Luhrs made their debuts as late substitutes.

Kevin McGonigle drove in three runs and the host Detroit Tigers won for the eighth time in 10 games, topping the Cleveland Guardians 6-4 on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
McGonigle had a two-run double and an RBI single, and Javier Baez scored two runs as the Tigers continued their push for a playoff berth.
Tigers All-Star outfielder Riley Greene left the game after the second inning with right hamstring tightness. Greene was hit by a pitch on his right leg during the inning but still scored from first on a double by Spencer Torkelson.
Drew Anderson gave up one run and four hits in four innings as Detroit's starting pitcher. Jacob Waguespack (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings to notch the victory. Kenley Jansen escaped a ninth-inning jam for his 14th save.
Chase DeLauter had three hits, including a solo homer, for Cleveland. Jo Adell drove in two runs, including his first homer since he was acquired from the Los Angeles Angels at the trade deadline. Steven Kwan added two hits and scored twice.

The Detroit Tigers pulled All-Star left fielder Riley Greene after he was hit by a pitch in the second inning of the series-opener against the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
In his first and only at-bat against Guardians starter Tanner Bibee, a 3-2 fastball came too far inside and hit Greene in the lower right leg. It looked real bad at first, but in the slow-motion replay you could see the pitch at least partially hit the leg guard he was wearing. Greene took a second in the box, but waved off manager A.J. Hinch and ran down to first base with a big applause.
Greene continued his running with a trip from first base to home on an RBI double from first baseman Spencer Torkelson, giving the Tigers the game's first run. Greene sprinted around the bases seemingly without issue.
But he remained in the third-base dugout for the top of the third inning. Ben Malgeri took Greene's place in left field for the top of the third. Cleveland evened the game at 1-1 with a no-doubt Chase DeLauter solo home run off Tigers starter Drew Anderson in the third.
Greene has been an iron man for the Tigers. The three-time All-Star corner outfielder had appeared in 116 of the Tigers' 118 games so far this season, either in left field or as a designated hitter. Greene is hitting .273 with 16 home runs and 54 RBIs on the season.

Newcastle United defender Alex Murphy will spend the 2026/27 campaign on loan in the German second tier.
Murphy has been slowly blooded into the Newcastle first team since his arrival from Galway United in 2022. After spending the 2024/25 season on loan at Bolton Wanderers, the Republic of Ireland youth international played six times for the Magpies last season.
Now, the 22-year-old has joined FC Kaiserslautern for the current campaign to get more regular game time.
"I'm very happy to be here," Murphy said about the move.
"FC Kaiserslautern is a great club, and I can't wait to play my first game in this incredible stadium. I want to take the next steps in my development here and be as successful as possible with the team this season."

Dzenan Pejcinovic is one step closer to completing his dream move to Stuttgart, as Wolfsburg's sporting director, Dieter Hecking, confirmed total agreement on Saturday. After Wolfsburg's goalless draw with Kaiserslautern, the club's former coach said they had agreed with a club on his transfer, without mentioning Stuttgart.
Wolfsburg declined multiple offers for the Germany U21 international, while FC Porto's attempt to lure the striker was also rejected by the player. However, the 21-year-old is keen to join Stuttgart this summer.
Pejcinovic was named in Wolfsburg's squad for the 2. Bundesliga opener, but he ended the game against Kaiserslautern as an unused substitute. According to Kicker, the two clubs reached full agreement on a €25 million transfer fee.
After Kicker's confirmation, Sky Sports reported there is still one key detail yet to be negotiated between the clubs despite Hecking's statement. Nonetheless, they also noted the deal is in an advanced stage.

The Mets racked up 18 hits on their way to their third win and series sweep against the Guardians, 13-6. Nolan McLean was good for most of his outing, and when he needed to come out after the fifth inning, the bullpen smothered the Guardians' hitters, allowing two hits and one run.
The first inning was deceptively quiet for the Mets. With two outs, Luis Robert, Jr. sneaked a ground ball into left field for a single, but Carson Benge struck out immediately after that. When McLean took the mound for the bottom of the inning he issued two walks back-to-back, and then allowed a line-drive single to Nathaniel Lowe to load the bases. After this, Angel Martínez managed an RBI single on a grounder to center field that scored Chase DeLauter and José Ramírez. After getting the second out, McLean gave up another single, this one on a fly ball smacked into left field by Petey Halpin. Fortunately, McLean got Patrick Bailey to fly out right after that, and the inning ended with the Guardians leading 2-0.
In the second inning, Marcus Semien responded by bouncing a home run off the top of the fence, slightly confusing the announcers. Next up, Eric Wagaman lined a single into center field, setting up Luis Torrens to drive a two-run home run into right field, stunning new Guardians pitcher Foster Griffin and giving the Mets the lead. McLean continued to struggle slightly with walks, allowing one to Travis Bazzana. Bazzana stole second base after Torrens' throw to second was a bit too high, but he was stranded there when Wagaman dove to stop a ground ball from Ramírez and got it to McLean in time for the third out. The score remained Mets 3, Guardians 2 at the end of the inning.
Bo Bichette walked to lead off the third inning but was caught in a fielder's choice out when Robert grounded to third softly. With Robert on first, Carson Benge smacked an RBI triple off the wall above Halpin's head, scoring Robert. Francisco Alvarez walked as well, and Semien scored Benge on a sac fly into left field for the second out. Wagaman struck out for the third out, but after Nolan McLean retired the batters in order at the bottom of the inning, the score was Mets 5, Guardians 2.
With two outs in the fourth inning, Lindor drove a single into left field, and Bichette doubled on another line drive, sending Lindor to third base. However, Robert flied out to right field to end the half-inning and strand the pair in scoring position. McLean once again worked a 1-2-3 inning. Matt Festa replaced Foster Griffin in the top of the fifth inning and gave up another walk to Alvarez with one out. Semien then rolled a double down the left field line, and Alvarez slid into to third. Jared Young pinch-hit for Wagaman and threaded an RBI single through the infielders into left field, scoring Alvarez. Young then stole second base completely uncontested. However, the next two outs came back-to-back to strand the runners in scoring position again.

The Guardians debuted their post-deadline roster last night against the woeful Mets, but they were the ones who were woeful.
Jo Adell was awesome; he left ****** ody on base. So how did the other 9 participants leave 29? Bazzana left 7, Hoskins left 6, Martinez left 5. There's 18. Arias's 4 gets us to 22. More on him in a minute. Lowe 3, Kwan 2. 27. DeLauter and Rocchio 1 each. 29. Austin Hedges, who was hitless, was the only new friend of Adell's who also left 0.
The gawdawful situational hitting wasn't the only fundamental that the Guardians neglected last night.
It was Rocchio who made the last out at third, and it was Arias who made a terrible throw for the error. He might be DFA'd by the time you read this becauuuuuuusssseeee…..
Let's hope it's that, and not Jose Ramirez going back on the IL with the wrist soreness that kept him out of this game v NYM.

The New York Mets (47-66) begin a three-game series at Progressive Field against the Cleveland Guardians (57-56) tonight. While Cleveland enters the series battling in the AL Central and Wild Card races, the Mets hosted a yard sale the past few days and sold off pieces from what is arguably the most disappointing ballclub in the majors this season.
Speaking of the Trade Deadline, the Guardians acquired Jo Adell (Angels), Foster Griffin (Nationals), and Nathaniel Lowe (Reds) in an effort to wake up what has been a slumbering offense. The Mets made a slew of trades headlined by deals involving Clay Holmes (Cubs), Luke Weaver (Pirates), Brooks Raley (Phillies), AJ Minter (Twins), and Freddy Peralta (Rays).
The Guardians have won just two of their last five games but did shut out the Diamondbacks Sunday, 5-0, to salvage the finale of their three-game series with Arizona. Chase DeLauter starred in the win, going 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs, a run scored, and a stolen base. The Mets, meanwhile, have dropped three straight and have scored but four runs over their last three games. Journeyman Robert Stock was better than good Sunday for New York allowing one run over five innings but the finale of the homestand, a 2-0 loss, continued a season-long trend of inconsistent offense and unmet expectations.
New York is scheduled to start veteran left-hander Sean Manaea (2-5, 4.42 ERA). After a rough start to July, the veteran finished strong allowing three runs in 12 innings over his last two starts. Cleveland counters with left-hander Joey Cantillo (8-6, 3.88 ERA). Cantillo's most recent start came on July 29 at Cincinnati in which he threw four shutout innings in a 6-1 win. That appearance was a nice bounce back from the two previous starts that saw him give up 15 hits and nine runs over just 8.2 innings.
Lets dive further into tonight's game and find a sweat or two.

Brian McCann had three hits while Nolan Arenado also went deep with a solo shot in the eighth inning.
Rhys Hoskins and Chase DeLauter homered for Cleveland, which is 5-10 since the All-Star break. Steven Kwan added three hits as the Guardians (56-56) fell to .500 for the first time since May 10.
Gerardo Carrillo (2-0), the second of six Arizona pitchers, got the win after throwing two scoreless innings.

JJ Bleday can match his career high for home runs in a season by blasting a homer tonight.
The MLB best home run bets slipped to an 18-65 record, with three no-bets after two misses on home run props for Chase DeLauter and Julio Rodriguez on Wednesday. Fortunately, home run bets are long-shot wagers, so bettors don't need to get many correct to generate a profit.
As a result, even the unimpressive record for the MLB best home run bets has resulted in $661 in profit for anyone who has bet $100 on each of the touted home run bets at the listed odds. The MLB best home run bets are a rollercoaster ride, and they've been headed downward lately. Gamblers must understand the downswings are part of the equation.
Tonight is a great opportunity for the rollercoaster to climb. Two left-handed-hitting outfielders in favorable matchups in their homer-friendly home ballparks have the most appealing home run props on Saturday's MLB slate.

Chase DeLauter has hit seven of his 11 home runs this year against righties on the road.
The MLB best home run bets are in a small funk. Since Bryce Harper and Ozzie Albies hit home runs on July 20, four straight MLB best home run bets have failed to deliver. So, the season's record for MLB best home run bets sits at 18-63, with three no-bets.
The record is rock-solid for a long-shot bet, like home run bets. As a result, anyone who has bet $100 on each of the touted home run props at the listed odds has profited $861. Again, home run bets are long-shot wagers, so losing streaks are part of the equation.
There are two appealing home run bets on today's MLB slate, though. A young left-handed-hitting outfielder in a plus matchup and homer-friendly ballpark and a young right-handed-hitting outfielder in a favorable matchup and homer-friendly ballpark have the most compelling home run bets on today's MLB slate.

Spoiled by what you ask? Well, pretty much everything. Slade was normal bad today. Not as bad as the 7 runs allowed suggests. He was let down gravely by, succintly, a couple very bad Manzardo mistakes in the field.
Cecconi started off the game (his first start in two weeks) with a leadoff homer to Larnach. No matter, the Guardians got the run right back in the bottom of the 1st. Manufactured by whom, you ask?
A little Hosey hustle manufactures a run.

Shocking, I know. Jose singled on a ball to right, advanced to second on a DeLauter flyout to left (lol), and then scored on this play. Right back into action for him.

Parker Messick took a no-hit-bid into the sixth inning, Chase DeLauter slugged a two-run home run and the Cleveland Guardians cooled off the host Miami Marlins 3-2 on Friday night, July 10.
All-Star closer Cade Smith pitched a scoreless ninth, earning his major-league-best 28th save. It was the third time in three days that Smith pitched.
It was also DeLauter's 10th homer of the season — one less than team leader Angel Martinez, who hasn't played since June 13 because of a foot injury.
Messick (8-5) lasted six innings, allowing one hit, four walks and one run. The left-hander struck out just one batter, but he got 10 groundouts.
DeLauter and Messick are both rookies.

As we continue our coverage of the upcoming 2026 MLB draft, which begins Saturday, I'll be reviewing the last four Cleveland Guardians drafts, which have added considerable depth to their minor league system.
Just FYI, the age listed below is the age of the players when they were drafted just about four years ago, so just add four years for their current age.
1 (16). Chase DeLauter. OF/LHH. Age 20. $3.75M bonus.
The Guardians drafted DeLauter 16th overall in the first round out of James Madison University. Here's what Cleveland scouting director Scott Barnsby had to say about the powerful right-hander at the time:
"He's physical, has performed extremely well and he's an intense competitor. This spring he was having an outstanding year — hitting .487 with eight homers, 10 stolen bases — and then ended up fracturing his foot in April."

Kody Clemens went 2-for-4 with an RBI triple, and the Minnesota Twins held on for a 3-1 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night in Minneapolis.
Austin Martin and Brooks Lee added one RBI apiece for Minnesota, which took the opener of a three-game series. The Twins have won three games in a row.
Rhys Hoskins hit a solo homer for Cleveland's only run. Chase DeLauter went 2-for-3 with a double for the Guardians, who dropped their third straight game.
Twins right-hander Taj Bradley (8-3) allowed one run on three hits over seven innings. He struck out 10 without a walk.
Guardians left-hander Joey Cantillo (7-4) took the hard-luck loss after allowing two unearned runs on six hits in five innings. He walked three and struck out seven.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Colson Montgomery hit a two-run homer and Kyle Teel and Tristan Peters added solo shots as the Chicago White Sox beat the Cleveland Guardians 7-6 on Sunday to split a four-game series between the AL Central's top teams.
The win moved the White Sox back into first place by one game.
Gabriel Arias belted a three-run homer and rookie Chase DeLauter also connected for the Guardians, who won the first two games on walk-offs.
The finale was delayed by rain and unplayable conditions on the water-logged outfield warning track.
Just before the re-scheduled start, the umpires met both managers in the outfield to inspect the track. The grounds crew then spent 30 minutes applying quick-dry mixture and grooming the track before it was deemed safe.

CLEVELAND (AP) — David Fry and Austin Hedges hit home runs, and the Cleveland Guardians defeated Texas 9-4 on Wednesday to snap the Rangers' six-game winning streak.
Rookie Chase DeLauter added three hits for the Guardians, who host the AL Central-leading Chicago White Sox in a pivotal four-game series starting on Thursday.
It was the sixth time this season Cleveland has scored at least nine runs in a game, a rare offensive outburst for a team that scored the second-fewest runs in June (87).
Elias Díaz homered for the Rangers, who were on their longest road winning streak since 2017. Ezequiel Duran added three hits.
Fry's three-run shot came during a five-run second inning. Hedges also drove in three runs, including his two-run shot in the eighth inning.

The Cleveland Guardians are reeling from injuries to three of their best offensive players.
Chase DeLauter, Jose Ramirez, and Angel Martinez were all injured during the same game against division rival Detroit Tigers.
DeLauter sustained a right rib cage fracture/bruise when colliding with the right field wall.
Ramirez broke his left hamate bone on a swing.

Jacob deGrom and Tanner Bibee faced off in game two of the three game series. Both pitchers had great outings, with Bibee going a full seven innings of work. Bibee allowed five hits and struck out two batters. He did not walk a single batter. Bibee gave up three runs, two earned. Rookie Cooper Ingle lost track of the outs and gave up a costly two base error to account for the unearned run. Bibee fell to 2-9 on the season. Shawn Armstrong worked an inning, giving up a run on a solo homer. Daniel Espino had a clean inning of work, striking out two of the three batters faced. In the top of the ninth, Bazzana made a great stop to record the out.
The Guardians offense only recorded five hits on the night with Daniel Schneemann going 2-for-3 with a stolen base. The runs for Cleveland came early in the bottom of the first. Chase DeLauter hit a one-out double to center. Kyle Manzardo followed up with his tenth home run of the season.
A victory against deGrom will always be difficult and hard fought. It is, regrettably, unsurprising that the offense couldn’t get on and get home when they needed to. The unfortunate error and a solo shot were the nails in the coffin that is this series, and the season series, against the Rangers. Texas and Cleveland will play one more game tomorrow with a 1:10 PM EDT first pitch.
