Constellation Brands will invest $100 million over five years to boost U.S. farmer profitability in states that produce hops, barley and other ingredients in the Modelo and Corona maker's beers.
The investment will include additional purchases from farmers in Idaho, Montana and North Dakota, plus initiatives to improve market access and economic resiliency.

TORONTO (AP) — Ontario Premier Doug Ford said Monday that Ronald Reagan would be "throwing up" over President Donald Trump's trade policies and threatened to cut off electricity and critical minerals to the United States as Trump escalated the trade fight.
Ford, speaking in an interview with The ******* ociated Press, said Trump has underestimated Canadians' willingness to endure economic pain rather than give in to U.S. pressure.
"He underestimates Canada. We're all in," Ford said. "Up here, we're at a fever pitch, everyone's in for an economic war. They know they're going to have to sacrifice."
Trump said Monday that the new 50% tariffs on Canadian automobiles, auto parts and steel would begin next year.

This week, a Nebraska lawsuit regarding his "Prime" logo came to light — nearly 19 months after it was filed.
The first word of it surfaced on Tony Farmer's Twitter page. He posted the original complaint. Unless it was all one ***** of a coincidence, others started reporting on the case — without crediting Farmer for finding it.
One of those outlets is The Athletic, which possibly has taken an "eff that guy" approach to Farmer given his relentless focus on the Dianna Russini situation. A new article posted by Matt Moret explains that Deion was questioned under oath in late July in the claim filed by Alan Tipp, who contends that he designed the "Prime" logo in 2011 and was never fully and fairly compensated for it. Tipp also alleges that Sanders and other defendants fraudulently induced Tipp to relinquish any rights to his work with false promises.

MEXICO CITY, Aug 19 (Reuters) - The Mexican government expressed its "serious concern" after learning of a preliminary ruling by the U.S. Department of Commerce that found dumping in Mexican strawberry exports throughout the winter.
The Mexican Ministry of Economy said on Tuesday night in a statement that the Commerce Department found Mexico was selling the product at a price between 3.37% and 5.28% below the normal value, depending on the company, and that it had set the average dumping margin at 4.83%.
The case originated on December 31, 2025, when Florida producers filed a petition with Commerce and the International Trade Commission requesting antidumping duties.
The move could affect nearly 5,000 Mexican strawberry growers — 97% of whom are small- or medium-scale farmers with up to 10 hectares (25 acres) of land — and 151,000 jobs linked to strawberry cultivation. In 2025, Mexico exported 263,000 metric tons of strawberries to the U.S., worth $1 billion.
Mexico said it will monitor the process alongside producers and exporters until the ITC's final ruling, expected in early 2027, and argued the criteria used by Commerce are inconsistent with the World Trade Organization's Anti-Dumping Agreement and with provisions of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.

A teenager from County Down hopes an app he has developed will revolutionise how farms are run, giving hard-pressed farmers more time.
Ben O'Connor, 16, was inspired when his family's farm near Castlewellan moved from beef to a dairy operation.
That meant longer hours, strict routine and more tasks to schedule, all of which reduced the time his family had together.
The entrepreneur had previously developed a mail order gift business at the age of 13. After selling that last year, he turned his talents to managing farm tasks.
FarmFlow is now being trialled on several farms across the UK and Ireland. He hopes to roll out the app, which targets the farm paperwork burden, alongside his studies.

Live cattle futures have lost momentum after reaching summer highs, but the decline should not be confused with a sudden increase in the nation's cattle supply. This morning's Export Inspections report showed corn shipments of 1.91 MMT (75.23 mbu) in the week of August 13. That was up 8.55% from the week prior and 81.71% larger than the same week last year. Mexico was the largest destination of 699,695 MT, with 499,733 MT shipped to ***** an and 141,496 MT to Colombia. The marketing year total is now 80.95 MMT (3.186 bbu) of corn exports, which is now 26.05% ahead of the same period last year with just over two weeks left in the marketing year.

October live cattle (LEV26) futures on Friday fell $1.175 to $218.875, hit an eight-month low, and for the week were down $6.40. September feeder cattle (GFU26) futures lost $2.65 to $334.55, also hit an eight-month low, and for the week fell $10.675. The cattle futures markets saw some panic selling early in the session Friday by traders that were spooked by uncertainty following news that Tyson Foods (TSN) "is making strategic changes to its beef operations to position the company for long-term success." The company said in a press release that it will end operations at its Joslin, Illinois, beef facility and its Eagle Mountain, Utah, case-ready facility and is pursuing the sale of its Pasco, Washington, beef facility.

On August 7, AdvanSix (NYSE:ASIX) reported second-quarter sales of $421 million, up about 3% from a year earlier, while adjusted EBITDA fell $24 million to $32 million and adjusted EPS dropped $1.50 to $0.19. Behind those numbers sits a story of two forces pulling in opposite directions: a $72 million year-over-year jump in raw material costs, and a fertilizer season where farmers spent less than the company expected. Looking ahead, the company plans to grow ammonia sales volume 30% in 2026 against 2025's already record year, and it is applying for a USDA grant to expand ammonia capacity further. Management also pointed to a stronger cash flow picture in the back half of 2026, citing a lower capital spending run rate, working capital tailwinds from the fourth quarter fertilizer pre-buy program, and 45Q carbon capture tax credits.
The same quarter that showed pricing discipline also showed real demand strain. Plant nutrient volume came in below expectations as rising grower input costs met steady, lower crop and grain prices, squeezing farmer profitability enough to cut overall fertilizer consumption and drive a $17 million unfavorable volume impact. A planned ammonia plant turnaround, shifted into the quarter to align with a supplier's pipeline inspection, added another $4 million operational hit. Sulfur costs have been a bigger problem still. The Tampa sulfur marker closed at a record $705 per long ton in the third quarter, up from $655 in the second, and AdvanSix estimates every $100 per long ton move costs it roughly $35 million a year.

According to the NFL transaction wire, the Indianapolis Colts worked out former Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants offensive guard Will Hernandez, along with offensive tackles Trey Wedig and D'Ante Smith.
Originally a 2018 2nd round pick of the Giants, the 30-year-old veteran offensive guard is likely most well known by Colts fans as being the 2nd best offensive guard prospect in the same prior draft class as perennial Indianapolis All-Pro left guard Quenton Nelson.
Of course, the 8-year veteran Hernandez has gone on to appear in 104 career games (98 starts). While he doesn't have the same league-wide accolades as Nelson, he's carved out a fairly lengthy starting NFL career himself.
However, he started in 7 games last year, earning a +45.3 overall grade, which ranked just 77th among 81 qualifying guards. He started just 5 games a year prior in 2024, having suffered a season-ending knee injury.
While Colts rookie 4th round pick Jalen Farmer has looked pretty good so far throughout training camp and in his preseason debut, it couldn't hurt to add a backup offensive guard with a wealth of experience into the mix.

The conservative voter from northeast Iowa said he didn't know Zach Lahn before the political newcomer "came out of nowhere" with a surprise GOP primary win over the candidate endorsed by President Donald Trump. So when Lahn came to his farm last week, Burrack questioned him on his approach to agriculture.
"I hit him pretty hard," said Burrack, who was considering whether to vote for Lahn in November or not vote at all.
It wasn't the first skeptical audience for the self-described "change candidate" in the state led by Republicans.
Lahn won the June primary even though an "entire establishment was set up against me," he said. He criticizes politicians in both parties, accusing them of being bought by corporate interests. September feeder cattle futures (GFU26) rose $3.65 to $345.225, near the daily high, and for the week up $3.125. The cattle futures markets in late Friday trading saw short covering to allow prices to finish unchanged, after both markets earlier saw some follow-through technical selling from Thursday's solid losses. October live cattle futures late last week saw a price uptrend on the daily chart negated.

Justin Rose is proud that, having turned 46 less than two weeks ago, he enters the FedEx Cup playoffs at No. 24 and bucking the PGA Tour trend of pros in their 40s — especially the late 40s — trying to hang on to whatever status that they can manage until becoming eligible at age 50.
Rose won earlier this year at the Farmers Insurance and nearly won the Masters in April and shows little sign of losing anything off his fastball.
"I'm not really interested in sticking around and just making up the numbers and waiting for the Champions Tour or whatever that might be," he said on Tuesday in a press conference ahead of the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis. "For me, it's about just really pushing myself to stay elite, to stay playing at the top end of the game, and to kind of keep giving myself and putting myself in with experiences that will create lifetime memories.
"That's only going to happen by playing in the biggest tournaments and at the highest level. That's my motivation, and if I'm not achieving that, I would sort of really question why I'm making the sacrifice away from family and friends and all the other great things that I have going on in my life."

I heard it would be a very important thing for Harry Kane to win this year's Ballon d'Or. It would also be very important for Bayern Munich, because it would show that the club can be anything for any player and that the Bundesliga is not just a "farmer's league"; the best players can play in the German top-flight. For Kane, of course, it would be important after England's disappointing exit from the World Cup. He won the golden boot this season, the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal, so he has a very good chance. I had a look at the bookies and they have very good odds on Harry Kane. But he has, of course, competition; there's Kylian Mbappe who scored 10 goals, Lionel Messi (who's already a big name) with eight goals in the World Cup, and don't forget the world champions with Rodri and Lamine Yamal, not to mention Ousmane Dembele from PSG who helped them win the Champions League. So, it's getting difficult for Harry Kane.
Ultimately, Kane winning the Ballon d'Or would also be beneficial for Bayern's negotiations with Michael Olise, as it proves to the Frenchman that he can achieve anything he wants with the Bavarian giants. So, perhaps he doesn't need to have his head turned by Real Madrid or other European heavyweights. Bayern Munich are looking at the Ballon d'Or ceremony, and it's in London on October 26 – so, a home advantage for Harry Kane.

Aug 9 (Reuters) - Taylor Farms said on Sunday it was recalling prepared food items containing jalapeños from retailers over concerns about potential salmonella contamination, a few weeks after removing lettuce from Mexico that U.S. authorities linked to the cyclospora parasite.
The California-based supplier said it had voluntarily recalled the products, including salsas and guacamole, after being notified that Coast Citrus Distributors was recalling the fresh peppers.
Taylor said in a statement it was no longer sourcing from a farmer in Sinaloa, Mexico, that was identified as the potential source of the salmonella outbreak.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said earlier this week they were investigating the salmonella outbreak, which had sickened 345 people across 27 states and led to 36 hospitalizations.
The U.S. investigation identified restaurants including Chipotle Mexican Grill and Qdoba, a Mexican-style restaurant chain, as having received jalapeños imported by Coast Citrus Distributors. Both restaurants stopped using them, while Coast Citrus recalled the remaining product and notified customers.
