WASHINGTON, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Three U.S. lawmakers have called on the American government to blacklist a set of Indian IT firms over what ‌they describe as "more than fifteen years of targeted espionage against U.S. citizens, ‌businesses, and the lawyers representing them."
In a letter issued Wednesday, Democratic Senators Ron Wyden and Sheldon Whitehouse, along with Republican Representative Pat Harrigan, asked the Commerce Department to add BellTroX, CyberRoot, and Sunkissed Organic Farms Pvt. Ltd. (formerly known as "Appin Technology Pvt. Ltd.") and its subsidiaries, to the Commerce Department's Entity List. Such a designation would cut them off from ‌U.S. software, cloud infrastructure, and ⁠cybersecurity tools.
Sunkissed representatives, CyberRoot and the Commerce Department did not respond to requests for comment. BellTroX could not be reached for ⁠comment.
All three companies have been described in media coverage and in reports published by major tech firms as being fronts for hack-for-hire activities.
In 2022, Reuters named CyberRoot and BellTroX as key players in the cybermercenary industry, saying they were frequently tapped by Western ‌lawyers and private investigators to spy on one another during legal and business disputes. A 2023 Reuters report identified Appin as a pioneer in the field, saying the company grew from an educational startup to a hack-for-hire powerhouse that stole secrets from executives, politicians, military officials and wealthy elites around the globe.

Natural gas and renewables will provide most of the replacement energy. Nuclear power could reduce domestic oil consumption further after 2030 as electricity demand continues to grow.
On July 22, the United States and Saudi Arabia signed a 30-year civil nuclear cooperation agreement, clearing the way for U.S. companies to potentially supply the kingdom with reactors, nuclear materials and technical services. Similar agreements with Turkey and the UAE entered into force in June 2008 and December 2009, respectively.
The commercial opportunity is in Saudi Arabia's search for additional generating capacity. The IEA estimates that the kingdom's electricity demand grew by 3.8% in 2025 and forecasts average annual growth of 3.1% through 2030.

NOVI SAD, Serbia (AP) — Small boats stand idle on cracked ground in a shriveled side channel of the Danube River in northern Serbia, where the water has receded into a couple of shrinking ponds under pressure from extreme drought and heat. Fish circle in the shallow waters.
"This is all we have, these two little ponds that are full of juvenile fish," fisherman Dusan Jovanovic said. He said the fish are in danger because there is too little water and its temperature is over 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit).
"If they start to die, they will all die at once," Jovanovic said.
Persistent drought and scorching heat this summer have ravaged ecosystems and businesses across the region, from a lake in Slovenia and the side channel of the Danube in Serbia, to fish farms in Bosnia, the Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary.
The fish industry has been hit especially hard, with damage estimated in the millions of euros (dollars). This is adding to the already high toll caused by problems with energy and water supplies, devastated crops, losses in river traffic and trade.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Parasitic illness cases linked to recalled iceberg lettuce have now been confirmed in 20 states, federal health officials said Thursday, expanding the scope of the largest outbreak of its kind in the U.S.
The Food and Drug Administration said government scientists have now identified cases in three additional states: Georgia, Tennessee and Texas.
The tally of people sickened by the parasite is now 11,458, up from about 10,900 reported last week.
The FDA, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state health officials have focused their investigation on lettuce grown at a farm in central Mexico operated by Taylor Farms, a major U.S. produce supplier.
The FDA said its staffers are continuing to inspect and test produce at the farm, in cooperation with officials from the Mexican government. The U.S. agency said it "remains confident that all recalled iceberg lettuce related to this specific cyclospora outbreak is off the market."

Aug 26 (Reuters) - Taylor Farms, the produce company at the center of a U.S. cyclospora outbreak, frequently failed to submit federally required workplace injury logs in recent years, including for at least four facilities where workers suffered fatal or otherwise serious injuries, a Reuters review of federal records found.
Over the ‌past five years, five to seven Taylor Farms facilities filed the annual report within the following year, with some showing injury rates above industry averages, while others ‌recording below-average rates. From 2021 to 2025, at least 17 facilities required such filings based on the number of employees and nature of the work, according to a review of intermittent U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspection filings.
The figures indicate an overall reporting rate well below the industry average of 78%, based on Reuters calculations of 2023 census numbers and the latest OSHA data. OSHA did not respond to questions about Taylor Farms' lower reporting rate.
Reporting gaps, which Taylor Farms acknowledged to Reuters, make it difficult for the public to ****** s the workplace safety record of the California-based company, according to some workplace safety watchdog groups. OSHA has said, in rulemaking documents, memos and public releases, that electronic submission of these logs allows the agency to focus its enforcement efforts and that it ‌is important for the public to have access to them.

Ben O'Connor, 16, was inspired when his family's farm near Castlewellan moved from beef to a dairy operation.

Prairie Farms Dairy is shutting two cheese manufacturing sites in Wisconsin, resulting in the loss of almost 100 jobs.

Perdue Farms and the Baltimore Ravens have launched a multi-year partnership that will bring Perdue products to Ravens facilities and game-day operations while supporting hunger-relief efforts across Maryland.

While the Food and Drug Administration has confirmed that a positive test result linked to samples of Taylor Farms-branded shredded lettuce sourced from central Mexico was instead a false positive, the investigation remains focused on the produce.
"FDA's traceback investigation and outbreak data continue to converge on shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms locations in central Mexico," the FDA said Monday. The agency added that it "will continue to work with federal and state partners to investigate this multistate outbreak and ensure products implicated in this outbreak have been removed from the market."
Product samples are still being collected, but "there are no confirmed positive sample results" linked to the cyclospora outbreak, the FDA said.

(NewsNation) — Three Ohio residents are suing Taco Bell, alleging they became sick after eating at the restaurant as a cyclospora outbreak continues to spread.
According to NewsNation affiliate WJW, food safety attorney Bill Marler has filed lawsuits on behalf of a Youngstown man, a North Olmsted man and, most recently, an Ashtabula County woman.
The lawsuits also name Taylor Farms, Taco Bell's lettuce supplier, alleging contaminated lettuce caused the illnesses. Marler said the Midwest has become the center of the current outbreak.
When was the last cyclosporiasis 'explosive diarrhea' outbreak?
According to one lawsuit, the North Olmsted man ate a meal containing lettuce at a Taco Bell restaurant in June. About a week later, he began experiencing symptoms and was subsequently diagnosed with cyclosporiasis.

A sample of shredded iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms de Mexico has tested positive for cyclospora, federal health officials said July 18, noting that the lettuce was collected as part of an ongoing investigation and is not included in the company's current recall.
The investigation has raised questions about whether there is more lettuce posing potential risk.
In the latest update from the Food and Drug Administration, the agency said a sample of shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico recently tested positive for cyclospora. The sample was not part of the lettuce recalled July 17 for potential risk of cyclospora.
The FDA said the contaminated sample was collected through targeted import surveillance conducted as part of the agency's probe. The agency said Taylor Farms confirmed the positive sample is not part of the company's current voluntary recall.
The company is "currently working to identify whether any part of this implicated lot is available in commerce or in consumers homes," according to the FDA, which said the positive lot is being detained while the investigation continues.

In January 2026, Spectris ran into trouble of its own. Rising component costs, higher interest rates, and currency swings pushed it into remedial proceedings in a Warsaw court. Polish tax authorities froze its bank accounts. Suppliers walked. Spectris went dark.
GoldenPeaks had no employees of its own. Construction, operations, accounting, financing, land leasing, all of it ran through affiliated companies. When Spectris collapsed, GoldenPeaks had ***** ody left to run its solar farms.

Utah’s gymnastics team is back in the gym after starting off the summer a bit differently. The Red Rocks traveled as a team to Ghana for a cultural exchange.
The trip came together thanks to several groups, including the Who Rocks the House Collective, Redmond Farms and the University of Utah’s Center for Business, Health and Prosperity, along with its partner Ensign Global University in Ghana.
“They’re so busy year-round, competing, being student-athletes that we wanted to give them time to be young adults away from the U., away from the pressures…and to enjoy Ghana, to experience Ghana, to have cross-cultural learning,” said Jon Murphy, director of student experiences and student programs for the U.’s enter who also works in Ghana with the partners.
Murphy and the partners were able to develop an exchange that provided a variety of experiences for the team, ranging from public health seminars, visits to ecotourism sites, service projects with local students, dance and art exchanges and travel to rural communities.
“It’s about creating these experiences to learn from the world outside of being a University of Utah student-athlete, and to have partners that can see the value in that is, I mean, it’s unmeasurable. It’s incredible” said Utah head coach Carly Dockendorf.
