BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti welcomed linebacker Kellan Wyatt back to the roster on Monday, Aug. 10 with a similar line to the one he used last week talking about Stephen Daley.
Wyatt returned to Bloomington in near-identical circumstances as his teammate.
They both gained an extra year of eligibility through a court decision that expanded the NCAA's "five-for five" rule to include players who exhausted their eligibility last season despite fitting the criteria for an additional season.
"It makes us a better football team," Cignetti said on Monday, echoing the answer he gave less than a week earlier.

Assessments of U.S. consumer prices, spending and sentiment are due this week—and they could shed light on whether improvements in June were significant enough to withstand geopolitical shocks.
The July Consumer Price Index reading will land Wednesday. The cost-of-living measure ticked down in June—before the U.S.-Iran ceasefire fell apart and fighting in the Middle East escalated. The conflict has curtailed oil shipments in the Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb Straits, sending energy prices higher and putting upward pressure on other prices.
The CPI remains high by historic standards, as does the Producer Price Index, which tracks wholesale inflation. The July PPI reading is due Thursday; The index dipped in June after surging in May. Rising wholesale costs can be a sign that consumer prices will climb as businesses pass rising expenses along.
Retail and consumer sentiment data comes out Friday. Consumer spending increased slightly in June, and the public mood recently brightened a bit, according to the University of Michigan's Survey of Consumer Sentiment. Savings rates, however, hit a four-year low, and developments including chatter about an AI bubble and new tariffs may have shifted consumers' outlook.

Aug. 9—MITCHELL — A pile of defensive miscues didn't help Four Corners' day at the Class B state amateur baseball tournament Sunday in the first round as Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks rang up the runs to the tune of a 13-2 first-round victory.
Four Corners had 10 errors on defense and the Wood Ducks had 10 hits in the contest, as the Wood Ducks had scored three runs each in the third, fifth and eighth inning and punctuated the victory with four runs in the ninth.
Eight Wood Ducks had at least one hit in the game. Curtis Flint had four RBIs, and Keaton Vessells had a triple and drove in two runs. C.J. Den Boer had two hits and Brodie Herr scored three times for the Wood Ducks.
Drew Eldeen earned the win on the hill for the Wood Ducks, tallying five strikeouts while allowing four hits, two runs and pitching four innings. Ben Honkomp threw the final five innings and allowed two hits and struck out five Four Corners hitters.
The Wood Ducks' win makes it six of seven Cornbelt League state qualifiers to reach the round of 16. The Ducks (17-6) will take on fellow Cornbelt squad — the Flandreau Cardinals — at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the second round.

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola says Jeremy Jacquet should be fit for their next game against Como after being left out of the squad for the friendly with Monaco.

Aug 7 (Reuters) - Two federal judges on Friday cleared the way for U.S. President Donald Trump's administration to end temporary protections from deportation that ‌had allowed thousands of people from South Sudan and Myanmar to live and ‌work in the United States.
Judges in Boston and Chicago rejected last-ditch efforts by immigrant-rights advocates to maintain the Temporary Protected Status designations for the two countries after the U.S. Supreme Court in June allowed the administration to end similar protections for thousands of people from Haiti and Syria.
The Supreme Court's ruling, powered by its 6-3 conservative majority, curtailed the ability of lower-court judges to review the U.S. ‌Department of Homeland Security's efforts under ⁠Trump to end TPS for about a dozen countries.
The designation covers people whose home countries have experienced natural disasters, armed conflicts or other extraordinary ⁠events, providing eligible migrants temporary protection from deportation and work authorization.

Everyone has a celebrity crush, but most of the world can't actually act on those feelings like Jamie Lee Curtis did in 1984. That was when she saw her husband, Christopher Guest, for the first time, coming across a photo of him in the pages of Rolling Stone. As Curtis explained, "He was leaving for a year on 'Saturday Night Live' ... I was starting the movie 'Perfect' in Los Angeles. ... So we are now opposite coasts." But the two found a way to make things work, traveling to meet up each weekend and, just a month later, they were engaged and married before the end of the year.

Aug 6 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump signed two executive orders on Thursday in a new but narrower attempt to curtail birthright citizenship, once again challenging a provision of the U.S. Constitution even though the Supreme Court rejected his previous effort.
Limiting birthright citizenship has been one of the ‌top priorities in the Republican president's crackdown on immigration, with the White House taking particular aim at what it calls "birth tourism," in which pregnant foreigners travel to the U.S. to ‌give birth.
After his June 30 setback in the Supreme Court, Trump called on Congress to act, but on Thursday he opted for executive orders, which set policy but do not carry the same weight as laws passed by Congress.
The Supreme Court had struck down as unconstitutional Trump's earlier executive order, which targeted a wide swath of immigrants in the country illegally or temporarily.

Rashid Khan produced a sensational six-wicket haul as Afghanistan thrashed Ireland by 92 runs in the second ODI at Bready Cricket Club on Friday, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

After the opening ODI was abandoned without a toss due to rain, the second game was also delayed by inclement weather and eventually reduced to 47 overs per side. Afghanistan, led by Ibrahim Zadran, posted 299 for 8 before Rashid ripped through Ireland's batting line-up, bowling them out for 207 in 33.4 overs.
Asked to bat first in overcast conditions, Afghanistan initially found it difficult against Ireland's new-ball movement. Mark Adair opened with a maiden, but Jai Moondra struggled to contain Rahmanullah Gurbaz, conceding four boundaries in his first two overs.

Gurbaz briefly took Moondra apart with a six and a four in the left-arm seamer's third over, but the bowler had the last laugh when the opener attempted another big shot and holed out.

Sediqullah Atal kept the scoring moving, while Ibrahim initially played a more measured innings. Afghanistan reached 65 for 1 before the pair took control, putting together a 116-run partnership.

Ibrahim shifted gears and brought up his half-century from 52 ******* . Atal's dismissal in the 25th over ended the stand, but Ibrahim continued to anchor the innings.

The Afghanistan captain then added 43 with Rahmat Shah before both fell within two overs. Andy Balbirnie looked fluent, while Cade Carmichael, playing only his fourth ODI, launched an aggressive counterattack. Carmichael smashed Saleem Safi for 21 runs in the 14th over and went on to bring up his maiden ODI fifty from 44 ******* .

But Afghanistan's spinners soon changed the game.

Rashid struck twice in quick succession to remove Balbirnie and Harry Tector, leaving Ireland in need of a substantial partnership. Carmichael and Lorcan Tucker attempted to rebuild, but their 38-run stand ended when Tucker was run out after losing track of the ball during an LBW appeal.

Carmichael followed in the next over for 62, leaving Ireland at 152 for 5.

Ben Calitz and Curtis Campher briefly threatened to revive the chase, smashing 41 runs in three overs, including five fours and two sixes. Rashid ended that ******* ault by dismissing Calitz, triggering a stunning collapse.

Ireland lost their final four wickets for just nine runs, with Rashid claiming three of them to complete remarkable figures of 6-34.

Shell is set to invest in the next phase of Arrow Energy's Surat Gas Project in Queensland, Australia, to secure ongoing gas supply for both domestic customers and its Queensland Curtis liquefied natural gas (QCLNG) export terminal.
Arrow Energy is an incorporated joint venture (JV) equally owned by Shell and PetroChina.
Shell confirmed that production from the new phase, known as Surat Gas Project Central, is expected to begin in 2028.
The development comprises 143 backfill wells, designed to deliver around 79 million standard cubic feet, or approximately 84 terajoules, of gas per day at peak output.
Gas will be supplied to the Australian domestic market as well as international liquefied natural gas (LNG) clients through the QCLNG facility, operated by Shell on Curtis Island near Gladstone.

Former India captain Ajinkya Rahane has picked Sachin Tendulkar as the greatest Indian cricketer of all time, shortly after bringing the curtain down on his playing career.

Rahane, who recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket during an episode of Stick to Cricket, was asked to name India's greatest-ever cricketer. While acknowledging that the choice was far from straightforward, the former batter eventually settled on Tendulkar.

"I think it's very hard to take one name but… probably Sachin Tendulkar. I think all the eras," Rahane said.

Tendulkar enjoyed a remarkable international career that stretched across 24 years, representing India from November 15, 1989, to November 16, 2013. During that period, he featured in 664 international matches, including 200 Tests, 463 ODIs and one T20I.

The batting icon scored 15,921 runs in Tests, 18,426 in ODIs and 10 in T20Is, finishing as the highest run-scorer in the history of both Test and ODI cricket. He also remains the only player to have appeared in 200 Test matches and holds the record for the most ODI appearances.

Tendulkar was a central figure in India's triumphant 2011 ICC Men's ODI World Cup campaign, adding the coveted trophy to an already glittering career.

As captain, he led India in 25 Tests, registering four wins, nine defeats and 12 draws. In ODIs, Tendulkar captained the side in 73 matches, winning 23, losing 43, with one tie and six no-results.

Rahane made his international debut in a T20I against England at Manchester on August 31, 2011, and went on to represent India across all three formats between 2011 and 2023.

The Mumbai batter had the opportunity to share the dressing room with Tendulkar on multiple occasions. He played one Test alongside the legendary batter for India and had earlier been his teammate at Mumbai Indians during the 2009 IPL season, apart from representing Mumbai together in domestic cricket.

Across a career spanning more than 12 years, Rahane played most of his international cricket under MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. He was a key member of India's historic 2018-19 Test series-winning squad in Australia before captaining the team to another memorable series victory there in 2020-21.

Rahane also joined an exclusive list of Indian cricketers to captain the national side in all three formats. He finished his career with Test centuries in Australia, England and New Zealand, while representing six IPL franchises: Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Rising Pune Supergiants, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings.

Former Manchester United forward Mark Hughes suffered the worst loss imaginable when his 38-year-old son Alex passed away from a sudden adult death syndrome on June 19 this year.
Though his playing career was short, Alex was a well-respected member of the English football community. He worked in recruitment at Grimsby Town, Manchester City, and other clubs throughout his career.
Following their son's death, Mark Hughes and his wife Jill said that they are "totally heartbroken by the sudden and unexpected loss of our beloved son."
Mark Hughes also released a statement through the League Managers ******* ociation. It reads, "Alex was a wonderful son, brother to Curtis and Xenna, devoted husband and father to Jessica and their two beautiful children Sebastian and Leonardo."
Mark Hughes played for some of the world's biggest clubs including Manchester United, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Chelsea. He made 72 appearances for the Welsh national team from 1984-1999 and became an accomplished manager coaching nine teams, mostly in the English Premier League.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni's leadership has often been defined by more than his tactical decisions on the field. Over the years, the former India captain built a reputation for creating a comfortable dressing-room atmosphere, with several teammates crediting him for helping youngsters settle into the international setup.

One of the traditions that became synonymous with Dhoni during tours was his ever-open hotel room. Players, particularly the younger members of the squad, frequently gathered there to relax, chat and play mobile or video games away from the intensity of international cricket.

Former India batter Ajinkya Rahane, who played alongside Dhoni for India as well as IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiant, shared an insight into that culture during an appearance on the Overlap Cricket YouTube channel.

According to Rahane, Dhoni's room often turned into a meeting point for the squad, with teammates dropping in throughout the day. However, there was one unwritten rule that everyone followed.

"He's (MS Dhoni) very calm and cool and just a very normal human being like everyone. His room was almost always open for anyone to do anything. So many times, 10 to 15 of them or even the whole team was in his room. But when his door was shut, no one was allowed," said Rahane on Overlap Cricket YouTube.

Dhoni's future as a player continues to be unclear after he missed the entire IPL 2026 season because of a leg injury. The 44-year-old did not play a single match for Chennai Super Kings, and there has been no official confirmation on whether he will return for another season.

Rahane, meanwhile, recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, bringing the curtain down on both his international and domestic career.

The 38-year-old decided to step away from the game three years after his final appearance for India, saying he felt the time was right to move on.

Rahane represented India in 85 Tests, 90 ODIs and 20 T20Is between 2011 and 2023, earning a reputation as one of the team's most reliable batters and playing a significant role in several memorable victories across formats.

I talked to E1 (and Formula E) founder Alejandro Agag, Sports.com Predict Team Miami pilots Timmy Hansen and Rianna O'Meara-Hunt, and Sports.com Predict Team Miami team principal Steve Curtis. They described a championship that is rapidly evolving from an environmental showcase into one of the world's most technically fascinating forms of motorsport.
Agag has spent much of his career launching new forms of electric motorsport. Having founded Formula E before turning his attention to Extreme E and now E1, he has witnessed first-hand how attitudes towards electrification have changed. "When we launched Formula E electric was the future," says Agag. "Manufacturers were going full electric. Mercedes came in, BMW, and Audi."
Today, Agag believes the public conversation has moved on. "Sustainability has really lost a lot of its attraction, which is a pity, because the climate problem has not changed, it's worse than before," says Aga. "Activists have been incredibly bad for the cause. To destroy a piece of art or to block a highway has exactly the opposite effect. It really repels people. It produces a divorce between the public and sustainability, because those activists wrongly embody environmentalism."

Shares of Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) have been clobbered since the firm pulled the curtain on its underwhelming quarterly earnings results. The numbers themselves were okay (28% revenue growth is nothing to sneeze at), but compared to the other hyperscaler firms, the results were actually quite uninspiring, with a lot to be desired. Add heavy spend into the equation, and it's not a mystery as to why investors rotated out of the name so violently last week.
One bad quarter doesn't signify that all is lost with Meta, though, especially as the company continues to spend aggressively to catch up in the hyperscaler race while also funneling considerable sums into its superintelligence team, which now actually has something quite impressive to show for its many years of hard work with Muse Spark, a model that might actually convince some users to pay for.

"That's why you come to a place like Wayne High School to play a schedule like that and just compete," Mukes said.
Wayne competed well in 2025. The Warriors reached the Region 2 final for a second consecutive season. That has the team hungry to take the next step needed to get back to the state final for the first time since 2015.
"Just knowing what the seniors what they left off, we got to finish what they [started]," senior Aaden Curtis said.

The 2023 Golden Globe Awards was an incredible night for Michelle Yeoh. The 60-year-old actress had waited 40 years to play the lead in a Hollywood film, and winning the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy for her starring role in "Everything Everywhere All at Once" was a dream come true. Yeoh's moment in the spotlight made headlines that night as her award speech went viral. But following the ceremony, another moment went viral, the split second Yeoh's name was called as the winner and the reaction of her co-star, Jamie Lee Curtis.
Curtis herself had been nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in the film but didn't win. (That award went to Angela Bassett in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.") But whatever disappointment Curtis may have felt about not winning her own award did not diminish her response to Yeoh's win, which was immediate, intense and immensely joyful.

Indiana Hoosiers defensive end Stephen Daley thought his college career ended in December when he suffered a season-ending knee injury during the Big Ten championship postgame celebration.
Now, he's back.
Four days after a U.S. District Court judge in Colorado ruled high school players from the 2022 graduating class could play their fifth college season, Daley returned to the practice field for the defending national champions. He'll be limited in early workouts, but coach Curt Cignetti remains hopeful it won't take one of the nation's most disruptive defensive linemen in 2025 long to get back to full speed.
"He looks pretty good. He's on a modified program where he'll dress out for practice, participate in some individual right now, no 11-on-11, and then get with the strength and conditioning staff, who will bring him along until they feel confident he's ready to go," Cignetti said Wednesday after the team's first summer practice. "I don't think it's going to be real, real long because he was training to be ready for next year in the (National Football) League, so it looks like he's in pretty good shape."
Daley's return solidifies what was already expected to be a deep, experienced, talented group of defensive linemen.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta made clear in the immediate aftermath of the Gunners' Premier League ****** le win that they would need to be ambitious to build on their success - and the club have backed him with the move to sign Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes.
Arsenal won the league for the first time in 22 years last season and reached the Champions League final where they were beaten by Paris St-Germain.
But as soon as the curtain came down on that campaign and the parade to celebrate their new silverware had finished, Arteta's thoughts moved to taking ****** nal to a "different dimension".
And with Brazil's Guimaraes set to be part of a new-look ****** nal midfield, the club believe they are signing a player who will do exactly that.
Arteta has always been keen on signing players with Premier League experience and who have shown they can operate with the demands at the highest level.

Liverpool have no plans to bring Jarell Quansah back to Anfield despite facing a defensive injury crisis ahead of the new Premier League season, talkSPORT reports.
Liverpool have an option to re-sign the 23-year-old defender from Bayer Leverkusen through a £70 million buyback clause, but they've decided against pursuing the deal.
Interestingly, this comes at a time when Liverpool are dealing with several defensive concerns.
Liverpool stalwart Joe Gomez is expected to miss the start of the season after sustaining an injury in the Reds' 4-2 victory over Sunderland in their pre-season curtain-raiser.
Highly rated youngsters Jeremy Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni are both still working their way back to full fitness after lengthy injury setbacks.
