Trick Williams announced he has intentions on entering the MITB match, but shortly after, he and Lil Yachty were attacked by Baron Corbin, so it remains to be seen if he will get one of the slots. Yachty featured on Sunday Night's Main Event to give his friend, and the wrestler he manages on WWE, Trick Williams, a chance to challenge Corbin for the WWE United States Championship. He helped him quite a lot, and Williams ended up winning the ******* le.

The Diamondbacks came into the game looking for a series win, and with a little bit of luck, putting some more ***** e between their competition for the final NL Wild Card spot. Having Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound was a point in their favor, but the offense still RVSP'd maybe when invited to the game.
The Diamondbacks were quiet in the top of the first, with the only baserunner being a Geraldo Perdomo hit by pitch, and that allowed the Astros to strike first. E-Rod got Jeremy Pena to ground out, but Yordan Alvarez absolutely clobbered one for a solo home run. That was the first indication that Rodriguez didn't have his best stuff today, but the next few batters hammered that home, even if there wasn't much damage done. He walked both Isaac Paredes and Christian Walker, but alternated those walks with a line out from Jose Altuve and got out of the jam with a Nelson Velasquez strike out. 0-1 Astros
This, of course, did raise some concerns amongst the faithful about the early need to score more than one run. That's been a challenge for the Diamondbacks, last night's four run outbreak aside. The offense decided to do some to ***** uage those fears, but did not manage to score multiple runs right away. Corbin Carroll started off the second inning with a double, advanced on a sac bunt from Tommy Troy, and then scored on a sac fly from James McCann. Illdemaro Vargas tried to keep things going with a two out single, but Lawler was unable to step up and ended the inning with a line out to third. Tied 1-1
Rodriguez issues with command continued right away in the bottom of the second, walking Dalton Varsho. Never a good idea to walk someone like him, as he showed when he stole second to get into scoring position two outs later. Too late for it to matter, though, as Jeremy Pena only saw three pitches and flew out to end the inning.
The third inning was… something. Perdomo singled to lead off the inning, bringing Ketel Marte to the plate. Marte got an 86 MPH changeup down and away and turned it around for what looked like an easy single. The only with that is the ball also acted as a heat seeking missel straight to Perdomo's helmet. He hit the ground immediately and quickly found himself surrounded by trainers from both teams. Eventually he left under his own power to a nice ovation from the Houston crowd, as one does.

For the first time ever, WWE shifts its classic Saturday Night's Main Event show to Sunday, giving it the appropriately and obviously named Sunday Night's Main Event.
The four — potentially five — match card features two heavyweight clashes. The main event is set to feature a rematch between WrestleMania 42 foes Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. Orton returned last month at SummerSlam to attack Rhodes and cost him his match against CM Punk for the Undisputed WWE Championship. For the better part of two decades, Rhodes and Orton have been linked together as legacy (pun intended) WWE stars. Sunday marks the next chapter in their long-running story.
On the "Raw" side, two of WWE's brightest young talents meet as Oba Femi takes on Bron Breakker. Femi has been the undeniable breakout star of 2026 in WWE, having won the King of the Ring tournament and retiring Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam last month. Femi's rise has irked Breakker, which spawned this rivalry in recent weeks.
Much like the last SNME, back in July, there's a celebrity element to the show, as rapper Lil Yachty faces U.S. Champion Baron Corbin in a match that, if it lasts five minutes, will earn Trick Williams a ***** le shot later that night. Georgia-native Quavo is also advertised for the show.

Diamondbacks right-hander Corbin Burnes packed four innings' worth of outs into three innings during a bridge camp game on Thursday, Sept. 3, an outing that is expected to be his last before a return to the majors next week in Kansas City.
"Today, I think, was for me a good last step, if that's what this is going to be," Burnes said after facing a lineup of Los Angeles Angels minor leaguers on a backfield near Tempe Diablo Stadium.
Working with a fastball that topped out at 93 mph, Burnes worked three innings and retired 12 batters; in both the second and third innings, he remained on the mound after the third out to continue building his pitch count.
He struck out two, did not walk a batter and may or may not have allowed a hit depending on whether a ground ball to third was ruled an error. His repertoire looked generally sharp, and he gave up perhaps three hard-hit ****** .
"Swing and miss on cutters, sinkers, curveball, the slider, changeup -- I think we got a swing and miss on every pitch today, which is good," Burnes said. "Around the zone. For me, the thing is, I want to be able to command the baseball, and we were able to command everything, which is good."

I feel as though I have already written this recap about 20 times this season. The Dbacks starting pitching was able to keep the team in the game, but the offense never got going in this one as they have yet to get a hit with RISP this series.
Perhaps the tone of the day was set before the game even started when the team announced the reinforcements have finally arrived! In the form of Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Blake Walston…. Yawn. Definitely not what the fans had in mind when the reinforcements kept getting brought up going into the trade deadline. Feels a lot like the game today, yawn.
Eduardo Rodriguez was ok allowing 3 runs, but labored through a couple of long innings that knocked him out of the game after just 5 innings. He threw 31 pitches in the first inning alone.
Gerardo Carillo really struggled in this one as he came in and could not throw strikes and wound up walking a batter and giving up 2 hits resulting in 3 ER. The Philles were really able to execute on offense tonight as they were able to do the job and put the ball in play with runners on base and hit sac fly RBI's to go along with 13 hits against the Dbacks pitching staff.
The top 4 of the Dbacks order Perdomo, Carroll, Moreno, and Marte went a combined 1-15 tonight. This group flat out needs to start producing if this team is going to contend. And specifically Corbin Carroll continues to really be struggling as of late as he is just 1-9 in the series so far and 2-19 since the start of the Giants series. Its also worth noting that Carroll appeared to be grimacing while running up the line in the 6th inning and may be worth monitoring as he may be playing through something. According to Torey in the postgame, Carroll has some low back discomfort the last couple of days but in Torey's words "its that time of the year" and is "in there tomorrow".

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Lars Nootbaar homered to center on the first pitch of the game and had three of Arizona's 12 hits to help the Diamondbacks beat the San Francisco Giants 10-6 on Friday night.
Arizona moved a half-game back of San Diego for the third wild-card spot in the National League.
Nootbaar's home run was his fifth of the season and one of three hit by the Diamondbacks off Blade Tidwell. Corbin Carroll took Tidwell (0-1) deep to center in the third inning for a two-run homer that put Arizona on top 3-2. It was Carroll's 19th home run of the season.
With two outs in the third, Tim Tawa launched a three-run shot to left off Tidwell to increase the Diamondbacks' lead to 6-2.
The Giants got a solo homer in the first inning and an RBI double in the third from Bryce Eldridge. The rookie has 15 home runs this season.

The 2026 Taunton Daily Gazette Boys Tennis Player of the Year and junior captain firmly established himself as one of the top players in all of MIAA Division 3, going a perfect 13-0 at first singles without dropping a set, earning a unanimous South Coast Conference MVP. At the USTA Massachusetts High School State Individual Singles and Doubles Championships, he was seeded No. 29 of 65 and reached the Round of 32, falling to the eventual runner-up, Newton North's Johnny Wastcoat.
Taunton hockey's Jamie Vallarelli, who enters his senior season tied with Taunton High Athletic Hall of Famer Jeff Gallagher for most points in program history (139), finished as the boys runner up with 17% of the vote. Diamondbacks right-hander Corbin Burnes threw strikes, got a couple of outs and then threw a little more in the bullpen. It was, he said, a good first step. He hopes that after one more, he might be ready to make his long-awaited return.
Burnes pitched on Tuesday, Aug. 25, in a so-called "bridge camp" game at Sloan Park in Mesa, recording two outs and allowing a single against a lineup of Chicago Cubs minor leaguers.
Pitching in the same game was Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen, who gave up one run in three innings.
Burnes' fastball was mostly in the low-90s, topping at 93 mph.
"It was good," Burnes said. "Came out and threw strikes. Did what I needed to do. The misses we had were right around the zone. That was kind of my whole goal coming back was to make sure we're filling up the strike zone and being around it. Give ourselves a chance to get outs. From the look of it, shapes, everything was pretty good there."

Well, in the broader scheme of things, that probably went about as well as could be expected. It was a Merrill Kelly start, after all. He hasn't picked up a W in more than a month, his last win coming back on July 22. As mentioned in the GDT tonight, August has been a cruel month for Kelly. Tonight, to be fair, wasn't so bad. He came within one out of a quality start, something we haven't seen from Merrill in eight attempts now, since before the All-Star break. While the Arizona bullpen certainly didn't help matters, this one was more on the offense. Here's some insightful baseball ******* ysis for you. You won't win many games when you fail to score any runs. You're welcome!
After a quick first inning on both sides, it look like Merrill Kelly's night was set up to be a short one. A one-out walk was followed by a two-out triple, as Corbin Carroll couldn't corral the ball in the right field corner. Kelly then lost control of his change-up entirely, walking the Cubs #8 and #9 hitters, to load the bases in front of presumptive 2026 NL MVP, Pete Crow-Armstrong. Cue thoughts of, "It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em". Fortunately, it did, though only just, as PCA sent it 388 feet to die in the center field glove of Ryan Waldschmidt. An elevated pitch count for Merrill and a 1-0 deficit were by no means a disaster.
Indeed, Kelly settled down surprisingly well after that, rediscovering the feel for his off-speed pitches. He set down the Cubs in order in the third with a pair of strikeouts, then had another 1-2-3 frame in the 4th, including another K. He did allow another run in the 5th on a pair of doubles, as the Cubs took a 2-0 lead, but it was a solid enough outing. The most interesting thing though, was likely a spat between Kelly and the third-base coach for the Cubs, Quintin Berry. At one point, he stepped off the mound, stared pointedly at Berry, and then the occupants of the D-backs and Cubs dugouts started jawing at each other. The exact specifics of the discussion will have to await the Jomboy breakdown.
However, the broadcast team speculated that Berry's positioning might have allowed him to look into Merrill's glove and relay information to the batter, if there was a runner on second. It was notable that, after Kelly was lifted from the game, he remained in the dugout, unusual behavior for a starting pitcher. In particular, he remained right on the top step of the dugout, at the end nearest Berry, and Kelly appeared to be trying to trigger a Scanners-like explosion of Berry's head, through the sheer force of his stare. Kelly's final line? 5.2 innings, three runs allowed on five hits and three walks, with four strikeouts. It's his fifth consecutive outing with at least three walks. ******* ody has gone longer for Arizona since Robbie Ray went seven straight in 2018-19.

PHOENIX (AP) — Jordan Lawlar hit a two-run homer and had a career-high three RBIs, Eduardo Rodriguez threw 5 2/3 strong innings and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Cincinnati Reds 9-0 on Friday night to keep pace in the National League playoff race.
The D-backs remain a game behind the San Diego Padres for the final NL wild-card spot.
The 24-year-old Lawlar had the first three-hit game of his career while Geraldo Perdomo also had a three hits. Gabriel Moreno, Tim Tawa and Corbin Carroll all had two hits. Lawlar's two-run shot to left field in the second gave the D-backs a 3-0 lead and was the center fielder's second homer in the big leagues.
Rodriguez (13-4) continued his brilliant season, giving up four hits and two walks while striking out four. The left-handed All-Star lowered his ERA to 2.61.
The Reds have dropped six of their past eight games.

I've talked before about the idea of a "stopper" as a pitcher in a starting rotation who can halt a losing streak by at least giving their team a chance to win. In my mind, it's a separate idea from a starting pitching ace who might be expected to have a wholly different level of pitching production. If there was ever a team in desperate need of a "stopper" performance, it would be the Diamondbacks at this point in the season. Even after a series win in Atlanta over the weekend, they have come into Boston and gotten knocked around on both sides of the ball by allowing a combined 20 runs in the first two games and scoring just five in response. We've seen over the past two years how important each win can be – especially in a National League Wild Card that is incredibly tight and also has seen the D-Backs drop back in – so avoiding a sweep was absolutely necessary. And that's to say nothing of the cloud of uncertainty hanging over Ketel Marte's status for the remainder of the season. This afternoon certainly wasn't pretty, but the team did manage to accomplish the mission.
While Brandon Pfaadt may not necessarily pop off the page as a "stopper," he has been one of the reasons for the team's surge over the past month or so. He's pitched to an absurd 1.22 ERA (2.56 FIP) over his last seven starts going back to July 10th – which coincides nearly exactly with the last time the team was .500 or worse. One of the keys to that success: Pfaadt hadn't allowed a home run since his first start back from Reno, a stretch of 49.1 IP. So naturally, he allowed three home runs on the day – a pair of solo shots and a three-run shot that ended his start. The first of those solo shots from Nick Sogard in fact came on the very first pitch of the game – a 93 MPH center-center fastball that Sogard launched for his very first career homer. He nearly repeated the feat when Jarren Duran launched the first pitch he saw of the third inning into the stands, but this one was an elevated fastball instead of center cut. And finally, Pfaadt was victimized by the seemingly unstoppable Mickey Gaspar who homered for the third straight game, although this roundtripper was a three-run instead of a solo shot that tied the game and ended Pfaadt's night.
Even as Pfaadt was being pecked to death by solo home runs, the Arizona offense looked pretty ineffectual the first time through the lineup with three hits and a walk. Their best scoring opportunity in the third was snuffed out when Jose Fernandez elected to try and score on a slow bouncer to third base and was easily tagged out. Thankfully, they rebounded to rally in the fifth and sixth innings to take the lead. In the former, they had consecutive doubles from Fernandez and Ryan Waldschmidt as well as a huge two-run double from Gabriel Moreno that bounced off the Green Monster and plated both Waldschmidt and Corbin Carroll. Well, this was ugly in every conceivable way. However, the Diamondbacks can perhaps be forgiven for being "off" this evening in Boston, as matters off the field took center stage. Face of the franchise Ketel Marte no-showed at Fenway Park this afternoon, forcing a roster change with just minutes to go before first pitch, as he was placed on the restricted list. Mitch Bratt had a bad start, Zack Littell showed why he got DFA'd, and the offense was barely more present than Marte, as the D-backs lost the opening game of the series against the Red Sox, by a large margin, which accurately reflected the tenor and tone of this one.
The weirdness began with the late announcement of the team's line-up. And when I say late, there was less than ten minutes to go before first pitch, and there was still nothing from the D-backs. Finally, a late, shocking roster move was announced. Ketel Marte had been placed on the restricted list, with Jose Fernandez replacing him. Fortunately, Fernandez was in town anyway, as possible coverage had Nolan Arenado had to go on the injured list. That was avoided – Arenado is officially day-to-day with his trunk issue (I'm going to keep calling it that!) – so he could take Marte's spot on the roster.
But what had happened to Ketel? Everyone was stunned, even John Gambadoro, who usually is very good at having the pulse of the team, called the move "so unexpected." It was known that Marte had flown to Boston with the team – his Instagram feed made that clear, with a report of teammate Corbin Carroll winning NL Player of the Week being the last post. But he wasn't at Fenway for batting practice. The team gave him as long as possible, but eventually had to pull the trigger. Nick Piecoro had as much an explanation as anyone: "I'm told Ketel Marte is doing OK physically, he just didn't show up to the ballpark tonight."
While we all pondered what that might mean – especially given Marte's previous willingness to go AWOL, necessitating a trip to the restricted list – there was still a game going on. Sort of. In the sense that only Boston seemed to turn up. From the first pitch, it seemed that starter Mitch Bratt was not on form, with his pitches a couple of miles per hour down on normal. Considering he has been a command and control guy, rather than a power one, this wasn't good. But the command wasn't there either. He walked two in the first and, though Bratt was able to strand them, a lead-off walk in the second came round to score, plus one more, for a 2-0 Red Sox lead.
After one more inning, and one more run, Bratt was done for the night after 65 pitches. His final line: three innings of work, allowing three earned runs on four hits and three walks. He was basically a shadow of his previous three starts, where he tossed 18 innings and allowed three runs. The team turned to Zack Littell as the long relief mop-up guy, and it's safe to say his second outing wasn't anywhere near as good as his previous one either. To be blunt, we ki

I hope you all will forgive me for spending a portion of my Saturday mornings sorting through various somewhat bleak baseball things in preparation for the coming recap. For instance, today I found myself roaming around looking at the recent game logs for Harrison Grant Holmes and comparing them those of Eduardo Rodriguez (Holmes had a better run recently, at least until today), and then looking at how the Braves as a team hit versus left-handed pitching (10th in the majors, as opposed to 8th vs. right-handers). The Diamondbacks, incidentally, are 2nd in the majors facing lefties, at least in terms of OPS, which was nice to see. But Grant Holmes is not a lefty, so I scrolled down to see how we do against righties, and discovered the rather depressing fact that we rank 29th in the majors in OPS against right-handed pitching. I tend to try to look for something interesting that I could touch on and organize my thinking around, in case a Saturday game goes badly for us, as it feels like they often do.
Anyway. As it turns out, I didn't really need to, though it certainly didn't look like it was going to be that way in the early going. Holmes caught leadoff man Lars Nootbaar looking to start off the game, then got Corbin Carroll to pop out on the infield and Geraldo Perdomo to strike out swinging on three pitches to make short work of the Snakes in the top of the first. Everyone's favorite hologram then came on for the bottom of the frame and gave up hits to the first three batters he faced: a home run to absolutely straightaway center field to Ronald Acuña, Jr., followed by a double to Drake Baldwin and a maddening bloop single just behind shortstop that fell in and advanced Baldwin to third. ERod finally recorded his first out on an Ozzie Albies pop fly to shallow right, but Baldwin crossed the plate on a grounder to second. That wound up being all the damage done, but we were already in a hole and Rodriguez had already thrown 24 pitches. 2-0 Atlanta
Given our dismal 0 for 14 performance last night with runners in scoring position, and given how easily Holmes had disposed of the top of our lineup in the top of the first, it seemed like we were in a very deep hole. But the bottom two thirds of the lineup, perhaps shamed by yesterday's aforementioned dismal performance, were having none of it today. Gabriel Moreno drewa five-pitch walk to lead things off, and was promptly advanced to third by a Max Kepler double into the alley in right center that rolled to the wall. Nolan Arenado grounded out slowly to third, allowing Moreno to score. Then Tim Tawa grounded a single to left, driving in Kepler and tying things back up. But we weren't done! ATLANTA (AP) — Nolan Arenado had two home runs and four RBIs, Eduardo Rodriguez threw six strong innings and the Arizona Diamondbacks routed the Atlanta Braves 10-3 on Saturday night.
Arenado reached 20 home runs for the ninth time in his career. Ildemaro Vargas hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning, while Gabriel Moreno extended his hitting streak to nine games with three hits, scored three times and drove in a run. Corbin Carroll had a double, triple and run scored, and Tim Tawa was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Rodriguez (12-4) surrendered a leadoff home run to Ronald Acuña Jr. and gave up a second run in the first inning, but settled down after that. He went six innings, giving up two runs on five hits with five strikeouts and no walks. The Diamondbacks have not walked a batter in the first two games of the series.
Jonathan Loáisiga and Kevin Ginkel pitched scoreless innings, and Phillip Abner gave up a run in the ninth.
The Braves had won the last seven times Grant Holmes started, but he struggled early and did not get out of the fourth inning. Holmes (7-5) gave up six runs on six hits and walked three. He had 13 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings entering the game.

Sometimes, the actors who bring these princesses to life fit the brief on the red carpet, channeling that regal energy. But other times, their real-life style takes a completely unexpected turn, away from the safe boundaries of Disney.
In most cases, actors who portray Disney princesses are expected to meet the royal brief on the red carpet at least while doing press for the movie. We saw this with Lily James, who transformed her public-facing style around 2015 to better embody her character of Cinderella. "Lily is a tomboy in the way that she dresses normally, and she wasn't fully into princess-ing it up as much as we have," her stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray told Fashionista that year. "We saw after everyone's reaction from the first dress in Berlin that people wanted to see Cinderella, so we decided to do a switcheroo with the dresses and really went for that enchanted princess theme." However, not long after the press surrounding the live-action remake of "Cinderella" died down, James cultivated a wardrobe that felt more authentic to her, swapping full skirts and whimsical details for bold cutouts and earthy palettes.
That said, some Disney actors maintain the fairy-tale-coded aesthetic for years, forever throwing it back on the red carpet to their princess characters. Both approaches can make for a high-fashion moment, whether the stars keep it magical or move into edgier territory. The Dbacks dropped the second game of the series Tuesday night as they scored 2 runs in the first inning, and then were blanked by Sugano and the Rockies bullpen.
As mentioned, the game got off to a strong start as both Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte went yard in the bottom of the first inning. If you would've asked most Dbacks fans at this point, they would probably be feeling pretty good about the rest of the game considering what this team has done to the Rockies this season. However, Sugano had different thoughts.
All in all the young lefty Mitch Bratt looked pretty good tonight as he allowed just the 2 run home run over 6 innings tonight. This continued an impressive turn through the Dbacks starting rotation as they group has allowed a grand total of 5 ER over their last 5 starts. Bratt continued to demonstrate poise and presence beyond his years tonight as he navigated his way through the Rockies lineup while striking out 4 Rockies batters.
However as mentioned earlier, it was really the offense that let the Dbacks down again tonight in what has become a trend of scoring early and then getting shut down. It is worth noting that Sugano has had quite a bit of success against the Dbacks this season as he has allowed just 6 ER across just over 17 innings of work. It seemed like the Dbacks were overly aggressive tonight, especially after the first inning. This offense when they are at there best works the counts, and passes the baton to the next guy up. The biggest red flag for this team continues to be their performance against right handed pitching. What started out as such a positive with Marte and Carroll, quickly shone a light on an ever growing problem once again.
All in all, this was a disappointing loss tonight for this team, especially given the fact that the Padres won. Fortunately, the Phillies lost so it is now a 3 team tie for the 3rd wild card spot. I believe the Dbacks techinically have the upper hand in the standings with the tie due to their intradivisional record, not that it matters all that much yet. Im likely to chalk this loss up to a difficult pitching matchup for this lineup. Maybe because of his deep **** nal and his splitter usage? Hard to say.

After getting trounced 9-0 by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the series opener, the Colorado Rockies looked to get back on track in Game 2.
And they did that in a close game that found the Rockies defeating the D-backs 3-2.
The Rockies (again) started off in the hole when Tomoyuki Sugano gave up a one-run homer to Corbin Carroll (17).

There was no hangover for the Diamondbacks after their low-scoring series victory over the Dodgers. Indeed, the offense nearly matched the entire output there, in just the first four outs. That provided a nice, soft landing for Michael Soroka, in his return from the injured list, as he threw 4.1 scoreless innings, before being removed for pitch count purposes. Zack Littell made his D-backs debut, and was awarded the win for his 4.2 innings of relief. Arizona simply took care of business tonight at Chase Field, and as a result remain tied with the Phillies for the second wild-card spot, since Philadelphia also won, in St. Louis.
Before this season, the Diamondbacks had hit only five first inning grand-slams in team history – that's over a span north of 4,400 opening frames. The last came more than fifteen years ago, in April 2011, when Stephen Drew took Ryan Dempster deep. But the team has now done it twice this year, with Nolan Arenado the man responsible on both occasions. Amusingly, he has a Rockies appeal to thank for it. With two outs, Gabriel Moreno hit a triple that rattled around in the right-field corner. It looked he then scored on a wild pitch, but Colorado appealed, saying it hit Marte. A review confirmed this, so Gabi was sent back and Ketel took first. But instead of getting out of the frame, Lars Nootbaar drew a walk, which allowed Arenado to come up with the bases loaded. Just like on May 18 against Robbie Ray, this then happened.

Arizona put up another crooked number in the second inning. With one out, Ryan Waldschmidt singled, Geraldo Perdomo walked, and Corbin Carroll doubled home Waldschmidt for a 5-0 lead. A wild pitch added another run, and Marte drove in one more with a single. Through two innings, Arizona were 7-0 up, and they had made Colorado starter Gabriel Hughes throw 63 pitches. With Soroka having allowed one walk and no hits through two, it was a bit of a surprise that it was the D-backs starter who was the first to be replaced. Part of this was the Arizona offense taking a bit of a nap for the next few innings. Also, this was Soroka's first outing in the majors since June 19. He had only one rehab start, throwing 57 pitches for the Reno Aces.
Therefore, while it would have been nice to get him through five and qualify for the victory, a fairly long fourth inning (needing 22 pitches) put the dampers on that. After getting the first out in the fifth, Soroka threw an 8-pitch walk, and Torey Lovullo decided that was enough, at a total of 77 pitches. The final line: 4.1 shutout innings, on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Under normal circumstances, this might have been a bit of a problem. But new guy Zack Littell had been signed for exactly this, and had no pitch count limitation. He didn't make a great first impression, walking the first batter he faced on four pitches. PHOENIX (AP) — Nolan Areando hit a grand slam in the first inning against his former team, Michael Soroka had a successful return on the mound and the Arizona Diamondbacks jumped out to a big early lead for a 9-0 win over the Colorado Rockies on Monday night.
The D-backs (64-56) moved to eight games above .500 for the first time this season.
Arenado hammered a fastball up in the zone from Gabriel Hughes over the left-field fence for his eighth career grand slam and second of the season. The eight-time All-Star played his first eight seasons in the big leagues with the Rockies.
The D-backs pushed their lead to 7-0 in the second with three more runs. Corbin Carroll had a run-scoring double, Ketel Marte brought home another run on a single and Geraldo Perdomo scored on a wild pitch.
Gabriel Moreno and Ryan Waldschmidt had two hits apiece.

The Seattle Seahawks are back on the practice field Monday, as they prepare for the 2026 season and defending their ******* le as reigning World Champions after stomping the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX.
The first on-field action against another team will come on Saturday when the Seahawks host the Dallas Cowboys at Lumen Field to open the preseason, and ahead of that matchup a handful of members of the roster returned to practice after having been held out the last for days for a variety of reasons.
The return to practice of Jake Bobo, Julian Neal, Jamie Sherriff and Mike Morris is obviously good news, as is the news from Corbin Smith that offensive linemen Mason Richman and Logan Brown are back at work after getting dinged up during the team scrimmage Saturday.
Of course, as good as the news that Brown and Richman are suited up is, the fact that there is no sign of Jadarian Price during warmups is not great. Price has been held out of practice the last few days with lower-body soreness, but is expected to be back in action sometime soon. Of course, the longer the absence continues for the Seahawks first round pick, the more questions fans will raise about exactly how sore he is and what might be causing it.
