Prince Harry has announced his first public engagement since returning to the UK.
The Duke of Sussex will complete a skydive to raise money for military charities.
The event will also allow him to fulfil a promise he made to a 102-year-old veteran. Last November, Harry met World War II veteran Ed Marshall during a visit to Sunnybrook Hospital's veterans centre in Toronto. "They quickly bonded over their shared experience of military service and the way they have continued to serve their communities," the Sunnybrook Foundation shared.
Marshall trained as a paratrooper during World War II, and had told Harry about the charity skydive he completed on his 100th birthday. "The idea stuck, and together, they devised a plan for another jump," the organisation noted.
While Marshall won't be doing the jump with Harry, he will be represented by his grandson, Bailey. The jump will raise money for Sunnybrook and True Patriot Love Foundation, both of which support Canada's military veterans. Harry has previously worked with True Patriot Love Foundation to take the Invictus Games to Canada in 2017 and 2025.
The jump is set to take place later this month, although the location and time haven't yet been disclosed.

Scottish company EQ Chartered Accountants, part of the Sumer Group, has completed a merger with fellow practice Innes & Partners.
Innes & Partners, which serves clients in Inverness and Livingston, delivers professional services to private individuals, business owners, and non-profit entities such as charities, social enterprises and charitable trusts.
In a statement, EQ said the merger marks an "important step" in its growth as it expands its presence into the north of Scotland.
Innes & Partners' 20-person team joins Sumer Group's wider UK network, which has more than 70 offices and in excess of 3,000 personnel.
The transaction also increases EQ's workforce by nearly 7%, lifting staff numbers from 290 to 310.

CLEVELAND — Guardians manager Stephen Vogt is using Major League Baseball's Players' Weekend to spread awareness for two charities that are near and dear to his family's heart.
MLB's Players' Weekend will run Aug. 21-23. During these three days, players, coaches and managers are able to utilize custom gear (bats, gloves, cleats, catcher's equipment and more) along with individualized name plates on the backs of jerseys. The Guardians will be in Colorado to play the Rockies during this stretch.
Those partaking in Players' Weekend also have the option of auctioning off custom gear to benefit charities.
Vogt will be using that time to wear custom shoes in an effort to bring awareness to the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio.
"It's a cool opportunity just to spotlight two unbelievable organizations that help a lot of people in different ways," Vogt said.

John Montgomery has been running Bridgeway for over three decades, with a simple pitch: deep quantitative research, a focus on smaller, less-liquid stocks that bigger competitors can't touch, and a lean team where everyone knows everyone. But the real differentiator isn't the strategy but instead the why. Bridgeway funnels a share of its profits into a foundation focused on ending genocide and preventing war atrocities, working in sub-Saharan Africa and Ukraine. It's not a marketing gimmick either but instead is baked into the culture from the board room down.
The firm's move from mutual funds to ETFs is its own case study in doing things the hard way for the right reasons. Twotime World Series champion Shane Victorino volunteered at the Shane Victorino Nicetown Boys & Girls Club in Philadelphia Saturday morning.
Major League Baseball, Phillies Charities, Inc. and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia teamed up to refurbish the Shane Victorino Nicetown Club as part of MLB Together's yearlong volunteer initiative.
About 100 volunteers spent the morning painting and deep cleaning learning and social **** es inside the club, while others worked outside on seeding, planting and landscaping improvements. The effort was supported by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and additional special guests.
The project contributed to MLB Together's goal of reaching 250,000 collective volunteer hours by the end of 2026 in honor of America's 250th anniversary.
According to MLB, the initiative is part of a broader investment of more than $5.5 million in community projects across the region aimed at expanding youth access to baseball and softball, supporting veterans and providing educational and nutritional resources.

About 100 volunteers spent the morning painting and deep cleaning learning and social **** es inside the club, while others worked outside on seeding, planting and landscaping improvements. The effort was supported by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and additional special guests.
The project contributed to MLB Together's goal of reaching 250,000 collective volunteer hours by the end of 2026 in honor of America's 250th anniversary.
According to MLB, the initiative is part of a broader investment of more than $5.5 million in community projects across the region aimed at expanding youth access to baseball and softball, supporting veterans and providing educational and nutritional resources.

Children with physical and cognitive challenges stepped up to the plate at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday night with former Phillies players as part of a partnership between Major League Baseball, Phillies Charities Inc. and the Miracle League.
The event kicked off MLB All-Star week in Philadelphia.
The Miracle League, a national nonprofit that creates opportunities for children with disabilities to play baseball, joined the Phillies for an evening designed to make young fans feel like pros. Among them were Everett and Remi, siblings born with cerebral palsy.
"This has been just a dream. These are the two biggest Phillies fans right here," said their mother, Samantha Govitz.
Kids had the chance to take swings against Phillies legend ****** ie Noles, run the bases and slide into home plate. For families, the experience was as meaningful as it was memorable.

Two-time major golf champion John Daly arrived in Akron and paid a visit to the Diamond Grill ahead of his Ambassador Golf Award ceremony at House Three Thirty.
Diamond Grill shared a picture on their Facebook with Daly.

Well, not for everyone. Though many are gushing online over the couple's celebrity-filled wedding extravaganza at New York City's Madison Square Garden July 3, the event has also drawn plenty of backlash from people saying they're over lavish weddings.

Lucas Glover would like to see the PGA Tour get back to its roots, when its tagline used to be "charity is the winner."
As a past champion of this week's John Deere Classic, Glover joined "Golf Today" on Golf Channel on Wednesday and was his usual candid self.
Glover, who won the JDC in 2021, said he'd like the PGA Tour to focus more of its energies on the good deeds its doing in the communities where they play rather than so much talk about player greed and the gobs of money they are playing for on a weekly basis.
When asked by host Eamon Lynch how he'd like to see the Tour invest the $1.5 billion from private equity partner SSG, Glover said he didn't know enough about the Tour's financials to make an educated guess. Glover is the chairman of the Player Advisory Council this season and is slated to join the Tour's board as a player director (replacing Adam Scott) in January. He hinted at one of his pet projects when he begins serving his term.
"I'd like to see a little more awareness and commitment to the charities that the tournament supports," Glover said. "I think we've lost a little bit of that with the influx of money and the signature series and things like that. I plan to let that be known when I get on the board that I think that should be a focus again is how much we actually do for the communities that we're in and what that means to be able to do that."

It is easy to forget that this time last year, tensions in Los Angeles surrounding the Dodgers were elevated, partly because Clayton Kershaw decided to doodle on his cap (not the subject of today's essay) and partly because the city was being ravaged by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ("ICE") raids that were rounding up citizens and immigrants alike.
The Dodgers organization finally stood up last year, urged on by Enrique Hernández , broadcasting legend Jaime Jarrín, and others, pledging $1 million to local charities to aid those affected by the ICE raids. On June 24, 2026, A.J. Perez of the Los Angeles Times reported that the Dodgers had fulfilled their pledge and Guggenheim Partners had divested their ties to the prison group actively working with ICE. Per Mr. Perez :
In total, the Dodgers donated $1.1 million, representatives for California Community Foundation and Labor Community Services — the two nonprofits that received the funds — told The Times.

Of the $19.2 billion worth of megagifts made by donors in 2025, Scott's giving represented one-third, according to data provided to Fortune from Giving USA and the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, had her banner philanthropic year in 2025, when she donated about $7 billion, which brought her **** ulative giving to $26.2 billion in just five years across thousands of organizations focused on housing, DEI, disaster recovery, and many more causes.
Other 2025 megadonors included Michael Bloomberg ($4.3 billion), Bill Gates ($3.7 billion), Warren Buffett ($1.34 billion), and Susan and Michael Dell (nearly $1 billion). These megadonors are part of the larger philanthropic engine in the U.S., which totaled a whopping $617.2 billion in 2025, according to a report published by Giving USA and IU's Lilly Family School of Philanthropy released Tuesday. This included philanthropic donations from individuals, bequests, foundations, and corporations to U.S. charities. The total is a 5.7% jump from the previous year.
"It was a positive year for charitable giving, with virtually all categories of recipient organizations achieving solid or better growth at the aggregate level," Gabe Cooper, vice chair of Giving USA Foundation and founder and CEO of Virtuous, said in a statement. Some of the organization types that received the most funding include religion, human services, education, health, international affairs, and arts and culture.
Despite Scott's extreme generosity in 2025, the Chronicle of Philanthropy didn't recognize her on its list of the top 50 donors this year. That's due mostly to Scott's quiet nature of giving. A giant mural is being painted alongside the River Tyne to celebrate the Great North Run's 45th anniversary, as the event counts down to its "biggest year ever".
The 13-mile race, which takes participants from Newcastle to South Shields, was first held in 1981 and an extra 3,000 places allocated for the next edition on 13 September will take the total number of runners to 63,000.
The new mural, which stretches 90m along Newcastle's Quayside, was created by local artist Alex Mulholland - known as Mul - who described the commission as a "true honour".
Founder and president Sir Brendan Foster said about 1.4m people had previously completed the route, with million raised for charities.
He said: "To know my artwork will form part of The Great North Run's history is a genuine bucket-list moment and something as an artist that I'm very proud of."

A football fan is running one mile for every goal scored each day during the World Cup to raise money for two charities.
Tom Wilmott said he was fundraising for Brain Tumour Support and Compton Care hospice in Wolverhampton as although the tournament was an exciting time, many people were not able to enjoy it due to illness or personal challenges.
He has run 121 miles in 11 days so far - his longest being 19 miles in one day - and raised £1,635 towards a £2,000 target.
As the last round of the group stages approach and four games a day ramp up to six, he said he would "just have to do a lot of running" despite the heatwave this week.
Wilmott, from Manchester, said he had been running around his job and been getting up at about 05:00 to fit miles in before work and finishing with a run later in the evening.

The two events - on Saturday, 24 and Sunday, 25 April - will allow 100,000 people to take part in the London Marathon in 2027, effectively doubling the chances of success for those who entered the ballot.
The move is also expected to raise more than £150m for charities and provide a £400m boost to the UK economy, according to Hugh Brasher, chief executive of London Marathon Events (LME).
Everyone who applied to take part next year will be entered into a ballot for both the Saturday and Sunday, with the ballot results announced in early July.

On Wednesday, a video of Governor Maura Healey swept social media with her signing a declaration stating the Scottish dish was now legal in the state of Massachusetts.
It looked like the Tartan Army's mission in Boston was not simply to drink the place dry of beer, inject fun into baseball matches, or donate generously to charities, it was to liberate the haggis from it's 55-year American exile.
That was until the bomb was dropped on Governor Healey's Instagram account 24 hours later.

Rhode Island is not hosting any World Cup matches, but thousands of Scotland fans have descended on America's smallest state over the last week.
Around 5,000 members of the Tartan Army are staying in the state capital of Providence during the tournament.
The city is 25 miles away from the Boston Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where Scotland will play their second match against Morocco on Friday.
Not only have they created a Tartan Army community in the area, they have also raised thousands of pounds that will be donated to local charities.
Robert Copland from Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, said money was the main reason he chose to stay in Providence.
Around 5,000 members of the Tartan Army are staying in the state capital of Providence during the tournament.
The city is 25 miles away from the Boston Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where Scotland will play their second match against Morocco on Friday.

Alongside, formerly Julian House, which supports homeless people in Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, said it is leaving some vacant roles unfilled to reduce costs.
