EA Sports unveiled Madden NFL 27 ratings for top-rated players earlier this week, leading up to the full ratings reveal on Friday. We now know the ratings for every Denver Broncos player in this year's version of the NFL's popular video game.
Notably, star cornerback Pat Surtain was snubbed from the "99 Club," reserved for the only players in the game with a perfect 99 overall rating. Surtain also dropped from being the No. 1-rated cornerback in last year's game (97 OVR) to now ranking second (97 OVR), trailing Christian Gonzalez (98 OVR).
Elsewhere on the defense, outside linebacker Nik Bonitto (91 OVR) is the ninth-best pass rusher in the game, and left tackle Garett Bolles (96 OVR) and guard Quinn Meinerz (95 OVR) are the third- and sixth-best offensive linemen in the game, respectively.

Jul. 31—GRAND FORKS — Some college football players arrive on campus with the immediate ability to be factors in the lineup.
Others take time to mature and develop, patiently waiting for an opportunity in the second half of their college eligibility.
Crookston's Ethan Boll is in the second category in the UND football program. However, the time is now for the junior linebacker.
During the first week of fall camp, Boll has been running with the starting defense alongside second-year Old Dominion transfer Michael Devereaux.
"I've seen him take a level up in knowledge of the defense, and he's really come a long way since January or February of 2025 when we first got here," UND linebackers coach Ben Watkins said. "He has gone from learning football and the position to really understanding, at a conceptual level, what we're trying to do, but also what offenses are trying to do against us in terms of the defense."

It took a while, but the Blue Jackets finally have their coaching staff in place for the upcoming season.

The team announced July 30 that former Buffalo Sabres head coach Don Granato was hired to join a staff led by head coach Rick Bowness, a move that's been pending for a month. The Blue Jackets also announced the hiring of San Jose Sharks **** istant video coach Cody Ward to head their video staff.
Granato, 58, and Ward, 28, join **** istant Trent Vogelhuber, **** istant Jared Boll, goaltending coach Niklas Backstrom and **** istant video coach Cam Briere.
"I am very excited about the staff we have put together," Bowness said in a statement. "I've known Donny [Granato] for many years and have great respect for him as a coach, but more importantly as a person. I'm really looking forward to working with him, Trent, Jared, Nik, Cody and Cam to help our players be the best they can be individually to help our team reach its goals."

Team Europe has added a Laver Cup veteran to complete its roster for the 2026 edition.
World No. 13 Casper Ruud finishes off captain Yannick Noah's six-man roster in what will be Ruud's sixth straight Laver Cup appearance. Ruud joins Alexander Zverev (World No. 2), Carlos Alcaraz (World No. 3), Flavio Cobolli (World No. 9), Jakub Mensik (World No. 17) and Rafael Jodar (World No. 24) to take on Team World from Sept. 25-27 at the O2 in London.
Jodar is the lone new addition from last year's team that lost to Team World 15-9 in San Francisco. He is replacing Holger Rune.
"Casper is exactly the type of player you want on your team," Noah said. "He's a fantastic competitor, a great teammate and someone who really embraces what the Laver Cup is all about. I'm really happy to have him back on Team Europe."

With rookies already in camp, the Tennessee **** ans are just a few days away from taking the field and watching the position battles commence.
Tennessee made some significant changes to its roster throughout the offseason and will look a lot different than it did in 2025, but it still has some questions to answer on both sides of the ball. In his preseason preview, ESPN's Turron Davenport outlines three key position battles to watch once camp kicks off that could have a major impact on the outcome of the 2026 season.
There's no slam-dunk favorite in the three-way battle between veterans Austin Schlottmann and Andre James and rookie Pat Coogan. Schlottmann has the upper hand, having played in Daboll's offense the past two seasons. But James, a late addition during minicamp, started 31 games for offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo with the Raiders in 2022 and 2023. Coogan has an outside shot at the job because of his top-level communication skills, but he has an uphill battle after being selected in the sixth round in April.
The late addition of James adds some more intrigue to this competition, which had the appearance of a two-horse race throughout most of the offseason. James did have his best seasons under Bricillo, and could surprise. Coogan has championship pedigree from his college days, and could eventually see some reps, definitely making it one of the positions to watch.
Veterans Cordell Volson and Jackson Slater are the primary competitors in this battle. Volson has 48 starts under his belt after being selected by the Bengals in the fourth round in 2022. He missed the 2025 season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder last August. Slater enters his second season after being selected in the fifth round last year. He played 34 snaps last season, all of which came in the season finale against the Jaguars. Someone needs to emerge quickly to help solidify the right side, especially with questions surrounding Latham at right tackle.

2028 four-star running Xander Edwards is in high demand with around 40 scholarship offers. One of them is from the Florida State Seminoles, which came back in October of last year.
Edwards visited FSU at the end of March, and the star runner had an amazing time while he was on campus. He has plans to take several visits during the season, and Florida State is a program that's on his itinerary.
"I'm going to Ohio State at Indiana. That's a for sure one. For sure going to Miami, Georgia, I'm going to try to get up to Florida State and Ohio State -- those are the definites," Edwards told 247Sports.
Edwards is coming off an incredible sophomore year. He rushed for 2,629 yards on 265 carries and scored 44 touchdowns, plus he gained 211 receiving yards on 17 receptions. He helped the Bolles School go 14-2 and finish as the Class 2A state runner-up. This earned him the All-News4JAX Offensive Player of the Year award, and he finished as the runner-up for Florida's Mr. Football award.
The Miami Hurricanes are the leader for Edwards right now. However, Florida State is positioned to make some noise in his recruitment if they continue to keep the lines of communication open and have a turnaround performance on the field.

The Giants have been stockpiling edge rushers the past few seasons, using top ****** ets to draft, trade for, and sign high-caliber players.
"I think our defensive front, man, it's scary. I love it. We have – we're almost cursed with too much talent. We have that – we have a matchup problem no matter what team we face. I think just being able to work together and just play off each other and continue to build that chemistry, that's going to be key for us," Kayvon Thibodeaux said.
Thibodeaux may be right. The talent runs so deep that he is currently a backup. This past April, the Giants drafted Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese, arguably the best pass rusher in the draft, and are shifting him to inside linebacker due to the logjam.
Bullen is back as one of the few holdovers from Brian Daboll's staff. He served in the same role under Daboll the past two years and was inserted as interim defensive coordinator for the final five games of 2025. He is well-respected among his peers and the players. An astute move by incoming head coach John Harbaugh to retain him.

Denver Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles has faced serious adversity throughout his nine-year career. From being one of the most penalized tackles in the NFL at the beginning of his career to his outstanding 2025 campaign, Bolles has earned his spot among the best protectors in the NFL.
Each year, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler surveys NFL executives, coaches and scouts to rank the top 10 offensive tackles in the NFL, and Bolles appeared on the list for the first time this offseason, coming in at No. 10.
"Bolles hadn't gained much traction in the top 10 series before, but his career performance in 2025 turned some heads," Fowler wrote for ESPN. Bolles was credited with allowing zero sacks in 2025 (per Pro Football Focus), earning his first Pro Bowl appearance and the first first-team All-Pro nod of his career. Bolles also made the list for ESPN's All-Pro team, was named PFF's Pass Blocker of the Year, and was a finalist for the NFL's first Protector of the Year award.
"Pass protection, he's one of the most consistent," an NFL coordinator told Fowler. "He can handle his own without help. He was a big part of the Broncos' success on offense last year."
Bolles has endeared himself to Broncos Country through his play and community efforts, but now, he seeks the ******* le that has eluded him thus far: Super Bowl champion.

Republican Sen. Ron Johnson (Wis.) on Monday cast doubt on the recency of a photo Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) shared of himself in the hospital alongside his wife.
"I've just heard from some other sources that was an older photo. So I really don't know," Johnson told host Eric Bolling on Real America's Voice's "Bolling!"

ESPN surveyed NFL executives, coaches and scouts this offseason to have them rank their top players at each position group across the league.
Leading up to today, ESPN had revealed rankings at running back, cornerback, edge rusher, defensive tackle, tight end, offensive tackle, interior offensive linemen and quarterback (linebacker, wide receiver and safety rankings are coming soon). So far, the Denver Broncos have had five players rank in the top 10 at their respective positions: CB Pat Surtain (No. 1), OLB Nik Bonitto (No. 10), DL Zach Allen (No. 8), OT Garett Bolles (No. 10) and OG Quinn Meinerz (No. 4).
When ESPN surveyed the NFL on top quarterbacks, 20 players received votes. The top 10 were ranked, followed by seven honorable mentions. ESPN then listed three QBs who also received votes: Bo Nix, Daniel Jones and C.J. Stroud.
The list of honorable mentions above Nix included Jalen Hurts, Trevor Lawrence, Baker Mayfield, Jordan Love, Jayden Daniels and Sam Darnold. The list of ranked QBs above Nix included Caleb Williams (No. 10) and Drake Maye (No. 8).
Now entering his third season in the NFL, Nix will look to climb the rankings ahead of 2027.

Four games into his first grand slam semi-final, 23-year-old wildcard Arthur Fery produced the sort of moment of magic for which he has rapidly become famous. Having had his serve broken by Alexander Zverev, the Brit responded with ferocity, playing a superb backhand return before racing to a Zverev drop shot, replying with a stunning angled passing shot that flashed across the net, and which the German could only scoop up and wide.
Fery leapt for joy and punched the air to a huge round of applause. Zverev hit long in the next rally to concede the break and send the Centre Court crowd leaping to their feet in raptures, too. It was the kind of moment that summed up the Brit's tournament: opportunity created out of nothing, his on-court intelligence putting him one or two steps ahead, and helping him wrestle himself back into contention.
Ultimately, it was not enough: Zverev dominated the first set tie-break and played with an authority that has not always come naturally, the world No 3 winning 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-4 to reach his first Wimbledon final. Having previously never gone past the fourth round here, the French Open champion is in ominous form, saying: "Once you win a major, you know how to do it and you feel like you can do it again. You have this feeling inside of you."
Faced with that, Fery said later he did not feel quite as "at ease" as in his previous rounds, and he was unfortunate to run into Zverev at his very best, his forehand piercing and serve precise and powerful. "He was always putting constant pressure. I didn't get much rhythm, just not many rallies," he said. "Balls coming back a little bit faster than the other days and what I'm used to, not as sharp with my footwork and mentally. Against a player like that, it adds up pretty quick."
But Fery's fortnight has been astonishing on every level. Having only previously won two grand slam matches, he won five in a row to reach the last four, twice coming from two sets and breaks down, seeing off former Wimbledon semi-finalist Grigor Dimitrov and recent French Open runner-up Flavio Cobolli in his last two matches. As the world No 114, he was something of an odd one out in that final four, alongside the current world No 1, the sport's most recent major winner, and a man with a casual 24 major ******* les to his name.

New York Giants WR Malik Nabers has been recovering from a torn ACL sustained during the 2025 regular season. While the injury occurred early enough in the campaign to have Nabers on track to be ready for 2026, that isn't quite the case as we approach training camp at the end of the month.
Nabers had another procedure and now his status for Week 1 seems murky. Obviously, we'll gather more intel during camp and see if Nabers can get out on the field for preseason games. But for now, if you're drafting early, it's tough to have optimism toward the talented wideout.

After twice going the distance, twice coming back from two sets and breaks down, twice winning match tiebreaks having used up much more than just nine lives, Arthur Fery took some pity on the nervous wrecks watching him at Wimbledon. But he became just the fifth British man to reach the semi-finals at Wimbledon in the open era, thrashing the ninth seed and French Open runner-up Cobolli 6-4 7-6 (4) 6-0. After he raced towards the finish line, Fery fell to his back and said: “It just gets better and better.”
Up next for Fery, who won a match at this year’s Wimbledon in straight-sets for the first time after battling from behind in his previous four victories, is the second seed Zverev.
