Edinburgh Airport says it is working to resume normal services after the site was evacuated due to reports of potentially suspicious items.
Police said an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team attended after the discovery was made about 18:50 on Friday and the items were "made safe".
The force said the incident is not being treated as suspicious and the evacuation was a precaution.
The airport reopened in the early hours, but it said there would be "knock-on impacts" and long queues built up, extending outside the terminal building, on Saturday morning.
Most flights are scheduled to take off as expected.
