As the clock neared midnight in New York City, the Czechs defeated Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 1-6, 10-6 in front of a crowd thinned out by the late hour. Both teams had already played a three-set semifinal earlier in the evening.
The 30-year-old Muchova and 20-year-old Mensik, who were unseeded, won the later semifinal against the Russian pairing of Mirra Andreeva and Andrey Rublev. With a turnaround of less than an hour, they pounced early, breaking Bencic's serve and coasting to a first-set win.

Bencic and Cobolli won 4-5 (7), 4-1 (10-5) and waited to return to the Arthur Ashe Stadium court later against the winner of the second semifinal. Karolina Muchova and Jakub Mensik faced Mirra Andreeva and Andrey Rublev in that one.
The winning team receives $1 million.
Bencic and Cobolli knocked Serena Williams and Carlos Alcaraz out of the tournament Tuesday in the quarterfinals.

More than 10,000 people were already inside on August 25 when Williams and Alcaraz emerged in matching purple-and-black Nike kits for the US Open Mixed Doubles Championship. The public-address announcer worked through Williams' accomplishments as the applause continued building, according to The Guardian.
Then Alcaraz double-faulted on the first point. Fery leapt for joy and punched the air to a huge round of applause. Zverev hit long in the next rally to concede the break and send the Centre Court crowd leaping to their feet in raptures, too. It was the kind of moment that summed up the Brit's tournament: opportunity created out of nothing, his on-court intelligence putting him one or two steps ahead, and helping him wrestle himself back into contention.
Ultimately, it was not enough: Zverev dominated the first set tie-break and played with an authority that has not always come naturally, the world No 3 winning 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-4 to reach his first Wimbledon final. Having previously never gone past the fourth round here, the French Open champion is in ominous form, saying: "Once you win a major, you know how to do it and you feel like you can do it again. You have this feeling inside of you."
