Sep. 2—MOSCOW, Idaho — Losing to fellow Big Sky Conference member Cal Poly, 38-34, on a final-seconds touchdown pass on 4th and 8, in the season-opening game was a rude shock for Idaho, which, based on its 5-0 all-time record against the Mustangs and Cal Poly's recent reputation as a Big Sky speed ***** p had pretty much penciled this in as a win.
The defining game for the Vandals this year was supposed to be the home clash against defending Football Championship Subdivision Montana State Oct 2. But now the Vandals are already in damage control mode, needing to make a good showing against Football Bowl Subdivision Utah on Thursday to convince themselves, more than anyone, that they are a good team, better than their 4-8 record last year and their season-opening stumble, and still harboring hopes of making the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. This is all on Idaho. Utah has nothing to prove other than it can handle an FCS team.
Here are three things to watch when the Vandals and Utes collide.
1. Have the Vandals got their defense fixed?
Against Cal Poly the defensive line was regularly pushed off the ball. Idaho could not mount much of a pass rush or hold an edge against Mustangs' quarterback Anthony Grigbsy, who threw for four touchdowns and ran for 62 yards and another score, and Cal Poly's 197 rushing yard and 319 passing yards point to Idaho's shortcomings in tackling and pass defense. The View cohost, 83, closed the sale on Friday, August 28, after nearly two years on the market.
Behar purchased the Sag Harbor, New York, dwelling in 2016 for $4.75 million. According to online records viewed by First For Women, a buyer paid $5.65 million for the estate — a staggering $5.3 million less than Behar's original asking price of $10.95 million when the property hit the market in November 2024.

Alker made four consecutive birdies on the back nine en route to a final-round 4-under 68 to hold off a big-name leaderboard and run away with The Ally Challenge crown at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club on Sunday, Aug. 30. It was Alker's 13th victory on the 50-and-older PGA Tour Champions tour — including his third this season and his second in as many weeks.
Alker, 55, from New Zealand, took sole possession of the lead with a birdie at the par-4 12th hole, then expanded it with a two-putt birdie at the par-5 13th hole, as Michael Block, the one-time viral sensation, made bogey.
"Perfect number," Alker said of his second-shot, 3-wood approach from 245 yards into the 13th hole, where the momentum really swung to his corner. "Worked out well."

A runner-up last year in the Sydney Marathon, Ethiopian Addisu Gobena won the event on Saturday, emerging from a field that featured the 2025 winner, fellow Ethiopian Hailemaryam Kiros, and the reigning world champion, Tanzania's Alphonce Simbu.
Gobena smashed Kiros' course record of 2:06:06 with a time of 2:04:42.

NEW YORK (AP) — The pilot of a speedboat that capsized during a tour around the Statue of Liberty, drowning an infant and her mother, has been arrested by U.S. immigration authorities who say he was in the country illegally.
Manuel Ernesto Hernandez-Umana, who has a pending federal criminal case in connection with the Aug. 8 crash, lied to a border officer and falsely claimed he was a U.S. citizen when he entered the country in Texas in 2007, the Department of Homeland Security said Wednesday.
Hernandez-Umana, 46, a citizen of El Salvador, is being held at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility in Elizabeth, New Jersey, according to online records. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said he will eventually be deported.
Immigration authorities arrested him after he was released on bail in his criminal case, where he is charged with causing the deaths of 5-month old Antonella Garcia and 27-year-old Sara Sanchez through misconduct or neglect.
According to prosecutors, Hernandez-Umana wasn't licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard, wasn't aware of basic safety rules and told investigators he'd borrowed his friend's personal vessel for the New York Harbor excursion. The boat was illegally chartered and overcrowded, prosecutors said.

The SEC just formally proposed Regulation Crypto ******* ets, a new offering framework that would let crypto projects raise up to $5M through a one-time startup exemption or up to $75M annually through a tiered fundraising exemption.
The exemptions: The startup lane allows $5M over four years with no accredited-investor requirement or per-investor cap. The fundraising lane allows $75M every 12 months, split into a $20M Tier 1 and $75M Tier 2, with Tier 2 issuers needing audited financials and ongoing reporting, and non-accredited buyers capped at 10% of income or net worth. Tokens sold under either lane wouldn't carry a rule-based resale lockup.
The safe harbor: Once a team finishes, or permanently drops, the managerial work it promised, its token can shed "investment contract" status for good—a formalized version of the concept the SEC's March interpretive guidance first floated. The rule would also preempt state-level securities registration for these offerings and certain secondary trades.
What's missing: The SEC's separate "innovation exemption," expected to let firms tokenize actual securities like stocks and trade them onchain, wasn't part of Tuesday's release. In his memoir of life in the tech industry, "Chaos Monkeys," Antonio Garcia Martinez wrote that it's not the rats who first abandon a sinking ship but rather the crew members who know how to swim.
By that measure, Brooks Koepka made like Michael Phelps, presciently jumping overboard early from LIV Golf and stroking his way to safe harbor. Now that the Good Ship Yasir seems doomed for the sea floor — the bullshit that long acted as ballast having shifted to expose the dead weight of washed-up hangers-on — those who remained are left eyeing leaky life rafts.
Just two members of LIV's roster matter, no matter how much its CEO, Scott O'Neil, blathered about the importance of Dean Burmester on the South African stop. They are Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm. The former because every carnival needs a barker, the latter because leagues need credible competitors. While DeChambeau remains welded to LIV, Rahm's tone has been lukewarm and several sources in his orbit are convinced he'll exit soon. He has alternatives, but they're not painless and require accepting conditions that the prideful Spaniard might balk at.
Rahm's obvious first choice for life after LIV would be returning to compete on the PGA Tour. He lives in the U.S., and it's the most lucrative, competitively demanding and commercially relevant circuit. But no one around the Tour thinks Rahm will be offered the terms Koepka accepted, and many believe he'd be asked to pay stiffer financial penalties, accept restricted playing privileges and perhaps even apologize (for what, and to whom, is unclear). How would that sit with a man who went to war with the DP World Tour in Europe over comparatively modest fines?
Koepka chose to leave LIV with time remaining on his contract. Rahm would be leaving by necessity, knowing he won't see all of the cash promised and that the league, if it survives, would do so only because someone wanted to leverage its losses to dodge taxes elsewhere in their investment portfolio. His former peers haven't forgotten that he went to LIV months after the Framework Agreement was announced, willingly becoming leverage for the Saudis, and that he later said (with amusing self-regard) that he felt his leaving would be the catalyst to uniting the game. Rahm thought he could take the bag and return as a hero. No one did more to ensure there'd be no deal between the Tour and the Saudis (with the possible exception of Patrick Cantlay in the boardroom). He chose his side and the guys he left behind were determined to make him live with the decision. Plenty remain so, and are disinclined to roll out the welcome mat too quickly.

The Los Angeles Angels cut ties with three coaches Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Pitching coach Mike Maddux, bullpen coach Dom Chiti and ****** istant pitching coach Darryl Scott were all fired with the team 24th in MLB in earned-run average (4.51), 30th in walks (508) and 25th in WHIP (1.38).

"After spending time discussing with Kurt where we are as a coaching staff and where we want to go in the future, we felt it was best to make a change," interim Angels general manager John Mozeliak said in a press release. "With seven weeks remaining, we plan to use this time to evaluate what additional steps are needed to elevate our entire pitching program and best position us for success moving forward."
It's the second time Mozeliak has had Maddux as his pitching coach. The first stint ended after the 2022 season, when Maddux voluntarily left the St. Louis Cardinals, during Mozeliak's time as the Cardinals' head of baseball operations.

During the top of the third inning of Monday night's Royals vs. Dodgers game, the SportsNet LA broadcast flashed a leaderboard of the lowest starter ERA since the start of the 2023 season. Of the five names listed, four are currently employed by the back-to-back champs: Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani, Blake Snell and the star of this particular evening, Tarik Skubal. Some understandably pessimistic fans in western Pennsylvania surely harbor fear that the fifth figure, Paul Skenes, will end up in Dodger blue one day as well.
But if that list was a reminder — as if anybody needed another — of the preposterous talent gilding L.A.'s star-studded roster, Skubal's ordinary performance on Monday in his first home start as a Dodger emphasized that nothing in this wonky sport is preordained.
Pitching in front of a revved up, eager audience, Skubal was downright mediocre in L.A.'s 6-5 victory over the Royals.
His fastball command was, by his cathedral standards, scattershot. He struggled to locate the four-seamer consistently at and just above the top rail, right where the world-beating southpaw makes his bread. Skubal had similar issues with his sinker, a handful of which ended up catching far too much plate, including one that resulted in a first-inning RBI single from Royals first baseman Jac Caglianone.

Once again, Texas was at the epicenter of these transfers, though one property in Brooklyn, New York, is also facing challenges, according to a flurry of Morningstar reports.
Two Keener Investments properties in League City, Texas — Harbor Walk and The Shore — were transferred to special servicing after the Houston-based owner stated that it "could no longer come out of pocket for debt service and escrow shortages," according to a July 31 Morningstar report.
The properties are still listed on Keener's website. It did not reply to a request for comment from Multifamily Dive.

The Chicago Bears were back for the eighth practice of training camp on Thursday, which was their third padded workout of the week.
The Bears were back in pads after a day in shells, and the intensity was really cranked up another level, where things got chippy and feisty between the offense and defense. Unfortunately, the biggest storyline of the day was the injuries. After losing safety Coby Bryant earlier this week, defensive end Montez Sweat and left tackle Braxton Jones were among the four players injured. The good news is Sweat and Jones' injuries don't look to be significant. There were also some notable standout players during Thursday's workout while the offense finally found success in the two-minute drill.
Here's what we learned from the eighth practice of training camp:
Thursday's practice might've been the most physical yet this summer. According to Brad Biggs, the "intensity has been turned up a couple levels," noting the 9-on-7 run drill was "feisty." Adam Jahns added that it was a "chippy" practice where there was "lots of shoving. A couple skirmishes." According to Patrick Finley, things were so physical that, at one point, linebacker D'Marco Jackson needed a new facemask. That intensity was notable during the 9-on-7 run drill, which Courtney Cronin praised. "The physicality is at its peak this morning. Team periods opened with 9 on 7 run drills. Cannot remember the last time I saw the Bears rep this drill. Old school football."
The story of the day were the multiple injuries sustained during Thursday's padded practice, which was the most intense of the summer so far. But the most notable injuries came to defensive end Montez Sweat and left tackle Braxton Jones. Jones exited practice after 1-on-1 drills, per Zack Pearson, where he had been battling Austin Booker. "He and Austin Booker were still going after the whistle in the drill. He was talking to the trainers. Slammed his helmet down after both reps against Austin Booker." Jones did walk off under his own power, and Clay Harbor noted that Jones "appears to have avoided a serious injury." Later, Sweat appeared to injure himself after a team period, per Kevin Fishbain, where "Sweat seemed to slow up during a rep in 11 on 11 and took himself off the field."

Jones did walk off under his own power, and Clay Harbor noted that Jones "appears to have avoided a serious injury." Later, Sweat appeared to injure himself after a team period, per Kevin Fishbain, where "Sweat seemed to slow up during a rep in 11 on 11 and took himself off the field."

The New York Yankees were only seen as a fringe contender for ace pitcher Tarik Skubal before his deal to the Los Angeles Dodgers, but the Bronx Bombers could be losing out on a much more attainable target as well.
Skubal was dealt to the Dodgers in one of the biggest MLB trades in years, the first time since 2023 that a reigning Cy Young winner was dealt during the season. While the Yankees appeared to be fading in the Skubal sweepstakes, the team was seen as potential frontrunners for closer Mason Miller — before the tides turned on him as well.
The San Diego Padres were seen as reluctant sellers for their closer, who had just joined them on a major trade last season. Any lingering hopes the Yankees may have harbored to land Miller seemed to fade on Saturday, however.
As MLB.com reporter Cody Stavenhagen noted, the Padres made a seemingly decisive call on Miller's future.
"Another sign Mason Miller almost certainly isn't going anywhere: Two days before the trade deadline, Padres manager Craig Stammen has summoned his star closer for a five-out save attempt against the Giants," Stavenhagen noted. John Holobetz, a former standout at Old Dominion, made a triumphant return to the mound in Norfolk, pitching 5 2/3 strong innings in his Triple-A debut to lead the Worcester Red Sox to a 3-1 victory over the Tides on Thursday night at Harbor Park.

Former Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest striker Britt ******* ombalonga has joined National League North side Harborough Town on an undisclosed contract.
The 33-year-old, who has spent much of his career playing in the Championship and League One, was released by League Two side Barnet at the end of last season.
Assombalonga, a former DR Congo international, who has also had spells at Watford, Peterborough and Turkish side Antalyaspor, has made 486 senior appearances, scoring 173 goals.
"With Britt moving locally, we had the opportunity to bring him in for pre-season and see whether he still had the bit between his teeth," said Bees boss Mitch Austin.
"I'm going to be on him because I want him to have a high-scoring season with us. We want to get the best out of him while making sure he enjoys his football."
