Creighton won the fourth set, forcing a fifth, but they fell short, losing 15-10.

SIOUX CITY, IA (KCAU) - Next group up for Two-A-Days is the Pender Pendragons, after a huge 9-2 2025 season after back-to-back five-win seasons in 2023 and 2024.
The Dragons got themselves to the D1 state quarterfinals before falling to Shelby-Rising City 28-6.
The 8-man squad enters the new year without two of last season's biggest offensive weapons in the run game and passing game; however, there is a large group of returners, including quarterback Zander Welsh, who had over 1,700 total yards of offense and 31 touchdowns.
This team also brings back a familiar face to the head coach position, Andy Welsh, who has served as the head coach for the boys basketball team for the last several years. With his return, this group is very excited for the guys they are putting out on the field!
"We have 33 kids on the team. We are sitting here with 12 seniors on an 8-man football team, so we have a lot of depth. Our expectations are extremely high, and the kids have been working really hard to show what we can do," said Welsh.

Boston Celtics reserve big man Luka Garza held a youth basketball camp in the state he played his NCAA basketball, the Celtics center putting together his second Luka Garza Academy skills camp of the summer in Indianola, Iowa. Boston head coach Joe Mazzulla paid a visit to the camp as well in one of his many stops to spend time with his players this offseason.
Garza shared some thoughts on why he continues to make time for the camps with local ABC station KCAU-TV Sioux City, saying that "Iowa just means an incredible amount to me and my family."
"I feel like my life changed when I came here and I was able to get to my dreams and goals because of the University of Iowa," he added.
"Because of what I was able to learn here, because of the way I was able to develop here and I think within that time, the people here that supported me, that put their arms around me and pushed me every single day," said the Celtics center.
"I always feel like I owe something to them. And so for me every summer is trying to come and give back a little bit because I know how much was given to me in my time here."

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa (KCAU) - Central Lyon/George-Little Rock is coming off a 2-6 record last season, but don't let that record fool you as the Lions come into 2026 with plenty of belief.
CL/'G-LR is coming off its first sub .500 season since 2017, but ended the year with two consecutive victories.
The Lions have been rebuilding with youth the last couple of seasons, with many taking big steps last year inclduing quarterback Jayden Daale and running back Michelet Sedam.
The team played in many close games last season and finished 1-4 in one-score games, putting an emphasis on the details.
"We've got to make those plays. It comes down to that one big play a game, and we just come up short. But not this year. We're going to make sure we get them big plays that go our way," Daale said.

OKOBOJI, Iowa (KCAU) - Last season was one to rembember for Okoboji football as the Pioneers secured the team's most wins in a single season since 2008, but the team is far from satisfied.
Okoboji rolled into mid-October with a 7-0 record, but tumbled in the team's final two games - including a double-digit loss at home to Unity Christian in the first round of the IHSAA 2A Playoffs.
Leading rusher and top returning receiver Asa Jacobsen is back to pace the Pioneers while quarterback Trey Vander Pol is back after throwing for over 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns. Okoboji returns all but six carries from a year ago.
The Pioneers have turned the page on last season, but are motivated to go even further.
"We felt like we were on top of the world all season. In those those last two games of the season, they suck. But they definitely helped to prepare us for this year. They got us in that mental state that we talk about trying to push past that and get the kids going next year," Jacobsen said. We've got a lot of key pieces back and a lot of guys that are bought in. You can sense the buzz around the town coming into the football season and we're excited to go win some more games this year."

Sioux City has continued to chip away and cut into their postseason deficit, picking up four wins over a pair of road series at Fargo-Moorhead and then-West Division leading Winnipeg.
In Saturday's game against the Goldeyes, the Explorers plated a season-high 17 runs in the win - boosting the team's batting average into the league's top five at .278.
The Explorers enter the week 2.5 games back of I-29 rival Sioux Falls with 20 games to go, understanding the importance of the six-game home stand.
"It's go time. So we're viewing it as we're four and two in the playoffs right now. So two big series wins for us to to cut into the deficit that we are sitting at right now," X's manager Steve Montgomery mentioned. HINTON, Iowa (KCAU) - The Hinton volleyball program has its sights set on reloading ahead of a year full of opportunity.
Hinton finished last season as the Class 2A runner-up with a 30-3 overall record, entering this year with a new look.
The Blackhawks graduated three depth pieces and a trio of starters, including IGHSAU All-State pick and now Creighton freshman Bailey Boeve.
Hinton returns a rising trio featuring sophomore Ellie Friesen and juniors Addison Dunkel and Raelyn Kempema as the program hopes to remain in the mix for a chance to contend this season.
"Once you all get that experience like now, then we all know what it takes to get there and I think that helps, like having us on the team and whatnot," Dunkel said.
