China's preparations for its FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup opener against Team USA have been disrupted by an unusual and costly problem. Dallas Wings center Li Yueru will miss the tournament after her passport was lost in the mail, leaving her unable to travel from the United States to Berlin.
Li disclosed the situation on social media, explaining that attempts to locate the passport or secure the necessary documentation in time had been unsuccessful.
"Unfortunately, my passport was lost in the mail, which means I won't be able to participate in this World Cup," Li wrote. "We tried everything we could, but ultimately we couldn't resolve the issue."
The timing could hardly be worse for China. Li was expected to be one of the team's most important players when it opens the tournament against the United States on Friday.

Sept 1 (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department has proposed requiring parents applying for passports for their children to provide proof of their own citizenship or immigration status as part of President Donald Trump's latest effort to limit ‌birthright citizenship.
The draft guidance, reviewed by Reuters, is the first detailed look at how the State Department could enforce Trump's August 6 ‌executive order targeting what it calls "birth tourism" and broadening historical exceptions to birthright citizenship.
The White House referred Reuters questions to the State Department. In a statement, State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said that "President Trump has been unequivocal that this Administration will protect the meaning and value of American citizenship, full stop, and that includes making sure our passport adjudication process fully reflects that standard."
Limiting birthright citizenship has been one of the president's top priorities in his far-reaching crackdown on immigration. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled his previous attempt violated the country's Constitution.

One of the things that Luka Doncic's minicamp for his Los Angeles Lakers teammates allowed them to do is visit and explore Doncic's native country of Slovenia. Outside of basketball and training, several activities were planned, including golf, a bicycle race and a rowing session on Lake Bled.
Forward Jarred Vanderbilt apparently liked his experience in Slovenia. In fact, he told a reporter there that he would like to visit the nation again.

Mohammad Amir's new British citizenship could create a fresh complication for the Pakistan fast bowler ahead of the 2027 Pakistan Super League (PSL). Although Amir played as a domestic cricketer in the PSL until last season, he is now expected to be treated as an overseas player.

Amir spoke about the change during an appearance on Wisden's The Scoop Extended, revealing that his new citizenship status would affect how he is classified in the PSL. His British citizenship was confirmed in June after Nottinghamshire signed him for the 2026 Vitality Blast.

The move has already allowed Amir to be treated as a domestic player in English competitions. He also played for Trent Rockets in the 2026 edition of The Hundred after replacing David Payne.
The situation is different in Pakistan. Amir is expected to be classified as an overseas player in the PSL, meaning any team wanting him will have to use one of its foreign-player slots.

Amir played for Rawalpindi in PSL 2026 after being bought for PKR 5.4 crore in the league's first auction. He was among the team's major signings alongside Naseem Shah and Daryl Mitchell.

TSV 1860 Munich have signed Mathew Collins, son of British rock legend Phil Collins, to a one-year contract running until 2027, the German fourth-tier Regionalliga club announced on Friday.
Collins, 21, completed a trial with the Munich club before signing. 1860 Munich begin their season on Saturday with an away match at Schweinfurt.

According to ESPN, Arnold cleared waivers on Monday, meaning no NFL team claimed his contract following his release by the Lions last week. He is now free to sign with any team interested in adding him to its roster.
Despite his ongoing legal case in Florida, ESPN reports that multiple NFL teams have previously expressed interest in Arnold, and he is expected to visit interested clubs as he looks to continue his professional career.
The Lions released the former first-round pick shortly after a Florida judge denied prosecutors’ request to hold him without bond. As for the Lions, they have yet to make any corresponding move to replace Arnold’s spot on the roster. Detroit has yet to make any sort of public statement on the Arnold situation, other than a boilerplate PR response shortly after his arrest.

"Full House" star Jodie Sweetin is opening up about where she and the rest of the cast stand with twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Dubai: UAE fast bowler Khuzaima Tanveer has credited the ILT20 with accelerating his development as an international cricketer, saying the competition gave him the confidence to compete at the highest level after earning his maiden call-up for the national side earlier this year.

The 26-year-old, who has represented the UAE in three ODIs and two T20Is since making his debut in April, said the franchise league played a key role in preparing him for international cricket through regular exposure to elite players.

"Representing the UAE was a proud moment for me and it's something every young cricketer dreams about. Getting my UAE passport and then going on to play for the national team were very special milestones for me and my family. The ILT20 helped prepare me for that level because you're constantly competing against high-quality players. It gives you confidence that you belong on the international stage," Tanveer said.

Tanveer first caught the eye during the third season of the tournament with figures of 4/22 against the Sharjah Warriorz.

Across two seasons with the Desert Vipers, he has claimed 24 wickets in 18 matches and finished with 17 wickets during the franchise's ******* le-winning campaign in Season 4, making him the second-highest wicket-taking UAE player in the competition and third overall. He was also shortlisted for the Blue Belt award, presented to the tournament's best UAE player, which was won by Muhammad Waseem.

The right-arm pacer said one of the biggest benefits of the tournament had been the opportunity to learn from established international cricketers.
"It's not only about what happens in the matches. A lot of the learning happens during training sessions, team meetings, and conversations around the group. I was fortunate to have the likes of Sam Curran, Naseem Shah and Lockie Ferguson in our team. Even small pieces of advice from such players add up over time and help you become a better cricketer," he said.

Tanveer also brushed aside comparisons between his bowling action and that of Pakistan fast bowling great Waqar Younis.

"I don't think anyone can compare themselves to someone like Waqar Younis. He's a legend of the game and someone every fast bowler looks up to. If people see similarities, I take it as a compliment, but my focus is on becoming the best version of myself," he said.

Looking ahead to the fifth season of the ILT20, Tanveer said he hopes to build on his progress and cement his place in the UAE side.

"Once you represent the UAE, you carry extra responsibility. People expect more from you and you expect more from yourself. My aim is to keep improving, perform consistently, and contribute whenever I get the opportunity," he said.

The former first-round pick had been with the team since 2024, but the Lions cut ties with him after the 23-year-old was charged with multiple felonies stemming from an incident that occurred in February.
The charges, which include four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery, carry a maximum punishment of life in prison.
During a court hearing on Monday, the judge in the case set a $1 million bond for Arnold, but that came with several conditions. The cornerback has to turn in his passport to the court, and he's not allowed to have any contact with his six co-defendants in the case. The Lions cut him just hours after his hearing ended.

The circumstances, however, were far from ordinary. FRANKFURT, June 16 (Reuters) - Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange, is set to lose permission to serve European Union clients from next month because its licence ‌application is about to be rejected, two people familiar with the matter told Reuters.
Under new EU ‌rules, called MiCA, crypto firms have until the end of June to obtain a licence to allow them to keep servicing clients across the bloc. Binance's application, made to Greece's market regulator, is set to be turned down, the people said.
European regulators have been attempting to rein in crypto exchanges, which allow people to trade cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin around the globe.
Under MiCA, crypto companies have to apply for licences from regulators in individual EU countries, which they can use as a "passport" ‌to operate throughout the 27-nation bloc.

Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes has made it official: He’s a Slovenian citizen.
Hayes, 26, took the oath of Slovenian citizenship and got his passport at the European country’s embassy in Washington, D.C., Tuesday morning, the Basketball Federation of Slovenia said on social media.

Officials clarified that Hayes won’t be able to immediately join the Slovenian squad alongside his Lakers teammate Luka Dončić, but he will be eligible starting next year.

Global-e agreed to pay $350 million upfront, funded roughly equally through cash and ordinary shares, with up to $75 million in additional contingent consideration tied to Passport's 2026 financial results. Passport is expected to generate about $100 million in revenue in calendar 2026.

Global-e's latest quarterly results support the growth case. On May 13, the company reported first-quarter GMV of $1.74 billion, up 40% year-over-year, while revenue rose 33% to $252.1 million. Adjusted EBITDA increased 59% to $50.2 million, and Global-e raised its full-year 2026 outlook across GMV, revenue, and adjusted EBITDA.
