PASADENA -- San Diego State's defense did practically everything they could to keep the Aztecs in the game against UCLA. They just needed the offense to come along for the ride.
Despite the defense largely holding UCLA's offense in check, SDSU's offense managed just 189 yards and one touchdown — coming effectively in garbage time — in a 28-10 loss to the Bruins at the Rose Bowl on Saturday.
"Inefficiency on offense led to a bunch of snaps for the defense," head coach Sean Lewis said. "Starting three and out there constantly, we were behind in the field position game. So I think just the culmination of snaps, the inefficiency on offense. It starts with the play calling, with myself, the leadership throughout the course of the week, so that we can have more success and flip the field."
Nowhere was SDSU's offensive struggle more apparent than in the passing game. The Aztecs completed just six passes for 45 yards, and several deep shots by quarterback Jayden Denegal were wildly off-target.
"[We] felt like we had good matchups on the edge," Lewis said. "There was a lot of single-high coverage. Again, those are good, calculated shots downrange. We got ***** on hands that we didn't catch. We had other guys wide open that we missed."

LOS ANGELES -- The Phoenix Mercury visited the Los Angeles Sparks last month at the Galen Center in the University of Southern California. A lot changed from their visit before that a couple of weeks before to their game at USC.
For Kahleah Copper, a lot changed for her as well. Hours after their game against the Sparks on July 22nd, Copper was named to the All-Star team as she replaced her friend, then-Sparks guard Kelsey Plum.
About a week after All-Star weekend, Plum was traded to the Mercury and the friends were suddenly teammates.
"(Plum brought) her energy, her vibes, her leadership, her championship experience (to the team)," Copper said before their game against the Sparks at USC. "She knows what it takes to win. I'm glad to play alongside with her."
As for All-Star Weekend after expecting to get some rest?

SCHD returned 28.99% through Sept. 1 versus 12.31% for SPY, despite owning none of the Magnificent Seven stocks that dominated market performance in previous years.
SCHD's dividend methodology doubles as a quality and value screen, ranking companies using free cash flow relative to debt, return on equity, dividend yield, and five-year dividend growth.
With only 8% overlap by weight with SPY, a 0.06% expense ratio, and a 3.15% 30-day SEC yield, SCHD provides a relatively inexpensive way to diversify away from the S&P 500's growth and technology concentration.

NEW DELHI: Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shared a fun moment after East Zone's memorable Duleep Trophy 2026/27 triumph. Kishan, who captained East Zone in the final against South Zone, had a light-hearted exchange with his 15-year-old deputy over who should get the credit for the successful DRS calls during the match.

Kishan had a memorable final, scoring more than 350 runs across the two innings, including a stunning 270 in the first innings, and was named Player of the Match.
Kishan jokingly claimed that Sooryavanshi had taken all the credit for the DRS calls, even though the captain was the one who was initially going to take the reviews.

"Yeh sab review mein credit le hi liya hai har jagah. Bhale main lene waala tha review, but aake mast bol deta tha main aapke paas aa jaata hu. Phir toh internet will be like: Vaibhav! My goodness! Vaibhav is the one! Toh bohot acche se isne woh kaarya nibhaya hai. (I am very happy (He has taken all the credit for the review everywhere. Even though I was about to take the review, he would come and say it so confidently, 'I'll come to you'. Then the internet will be like: Vaibhav!)," Kishan said in a video posted on BCCI's social media handle.

Sooryavanshi was quick with his reply.

"Aur jab field ke bahar jaa rahe the tab kon le raha tha review? Yeh bhi toh bata dijiye! (When we were going off the field, who was taking the reviews then? Tell us that too!)"

Kishan then praised the teenager's leadership qualities and suggested that Sooryavanshi could have a bright future as a captain.

"Haan, that was Vaibhav himself! Yes. Future captain, maybe? Let's see how it goes. But it's very good to have him in the team because more than a very good player, he's a very nice boy who takes care of each and every one in the team, whether it's a junior player or senior."

Kishan then jokingly corrected himself when talking about Sooryavanshi being a junior.

"Achha, junior toh tu hi hua (Oh, you are not a junior anymore now), sorry, sorry. That is one quality which I love about him. Hopefully, he'll be more dangerous than what he is today.

"I think it's not going to be his first or the last. I think he's gonna play many more like this, and he'll keep performing the way he's doing right now," he stated.
Sooryavanshi also spoke about the fun atmosphere in the East Zone camp and praised Kishan for his outstanding batting performance in the final.

"The way we were off the field and the way we were enjoying inside, it was a lot of fun. The way he batted in the final, it was unbelievable. I can't say anything much about it.

"I think the match changed from there and as a captain, a lot of people have been watching and playing under him for a long time. It was a lot of fun to play in his captaincy. We enjoyed a lot."
Kishan ended the exchange by stressing the importance of enjoying the game as a team.

"The most important thing is to enjoy. The result is not in our hands, but to enjoy as a t

Here's an indisputable fact about semiconductor sector leader Nvidia (NVDA). It has massive coattails. One comment from CEO Jensen Huang and his leadership team can push a lot of momentum and investor interest. We've seen it with his remarks about Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM) (calling it one of the "greatest companies in the history of humanity"), Meta Platforms (META) ("Nobody uses AI better than Meta"), and Nebius Group (NBIS) ("Nebius will take care of you").
Now the shine is on CrowdStrike Holdings (CRWD), the cybersecurity company known for its cloud-native platform for endpoint security. At CrowdStrike's recent Fal.Con 2026 conference in Las Vegas, Huang said that CrowdStrike is Nvidia's top security partner.

Megyn Kelly built her reputation through her prominent career at Fox, and these days, The Megyn Kelly Show and her bold takes continue to draw attention. Recently, another bold take from the journalist made headlines, as she said that Erika Kirk should step away from Turning Point USA.
Recently, the 55-year-old appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored on YouTube on Thursday, September 10, 2026, during which Megyn Kelly said that she wants Erika Kirk to leave her current leadership role at Turning Point USA.

"Helping her kids heal and herself heal. I don't know what she's going to do, but that's my prayer for her." She added.
As we know, it has been one year since Charlie Kirk was shot and killed. In this context, the journalist wants Erika Kirk to reevaluate her position at her husband's nonprofit organization, Turning Point USA.

CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) — The Trump administration has provided a $99.6 million loan to a U.S.-owned cell phone network operator in Africa to expand American tech presence on a continent where China's Huawei is a leading player.
The loan from the U.S. government's Export-Import Bank was announced by the operator Africell on Friday. It is the only U.S.-owned cell network operator in Africa.
Africell said in a statement the loan would "boost U.S.-based employment in the telecommunications sector and strengthen American technology leadership abroad." It said the money would allow it to invest specifically in American and European technology for its operations in the southern African country of Angola.
Africell also operates in Congo, Sierra Leone and Gambia, it said.
Huawei is the world's biggest supplier of telecommunications network equipment and is estimated to have supplied more than half the 4G and 5G network infrastructure in Africa.

Two cybersecurity heavyweights, Rubrik, Inc. (NYSE:RBRK) and CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD), both released Q2 FY2027 earnings in late August/early September while deepening their strategic alliance. On September 1, the companies announced a joint agentic identity resilience workflow orchestrated by CrowdStrike's Charlotte Agentic SOAR. By uniting CrowdStrike's Falcon Next-Gen Identity Security with Rubrik's Identity Resilience, joint customers can now detect, investigate, and recover from compromised identity environments in hours instead of days.

CrowdStrike continues to operate at a massive scale with strong cash generation and expanding margins. For Q2 FY2027, CrowdStrike reported total revenue of $1.47 billion, up 26% year-over-year, with annual recurring revenue (ARR) reaching $5.84 billion (up 25%) after adding a record $333 million in net new ARR. GAAP net income turned positive at $5.3 million ($0.01 per diluted share), while non-GAAP net income reached $322.9 million ($0.31 per diluted share). Operating cash flow hit a Q2 record of $530.3 million, with free cash flow reaching $377.4 million. Expanding its momentum, CrowdStrike announced a partnership with OpenAI on September 2 to secure Codex agents and integrate GPT-5.6 Cyber into Falcon, prompting Raymond James to raise its price target to $250 from $240 on September 3, citing an "AI double whammy."
Rubrik, meanwhile, represents the hyper-growth challenger outperforming Wall Street's top-line expectations. For Q2 FY2027, Rubrik's total revenue surged 38% year-over-year to $427.3 million (up 43% when normalized for material rights), while Subscription ARR grew 33% to $1.66 billion. While GAAP net loss per share narrowed to $(0.30), Rubrik achieved non-GAAP net income per share of $0.20 ($0.47–$0.53 guidance for full FY27). Operating cash flow reached $76.8 million, generating $65.7 million in free cash flow. While CrowdStrike holds the stronger overall financial profile given its $5.84 billion ARR scale and $377.4 million free cash flow generation, Rubrik leads in top-line growth velocity.
CrowdStrike's bull case rests on its leadership in endpoint and identity security, proven GAAP and non-GAAP profitability, and deep AI integrations with platforms such as OpenAI and Charlotte AI, which could drive further platform consolidation and high-margin ARR growth. However, slower percentage growth compared with younger peers, elevated valuation multiples, and lingering customer scrutiny following past software update disruptions remain key risks.

Matt Nagy makes major play-calling decision for first season with Giants appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New York Giants came to the conclusion at the end of last season that they needed new leadership if they were going to become a winning team. The decision was made to hire veteran head coach John Harbaugh to lead the team after he has been successful in his 18-year run with the Baltimore Ravens.
Harbaugh hired Matt Nagy to run his offense. The Giants have a pair of potential stars in quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo. Both have shown that they have the flash to excite fans and make big plays, but the key to their season will be establishing consistency.
Nagy will try to help them with his play calling. In order to do that, he will observe the team's offensive play from the coach's booth at the pressbox level so he can have a clear understanding of what the defense is trying to do to combat the offense. He will make sure Dart understands what he is seeing, and that will allow the quarterback to know where the strengths and weaknesses of the defense are.

In February 2024, the three bodies announced plans to merge into one organisation by 2027.

New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh has never viewed leadership as something that should belong exclusively to the players wearing a captain's patch.
That philosophy dates back to his time with the Baltimore Ravens, where Harbaugh routinely used a player leadership council while also rotating game-day captains throughout the season.
The leadership council gave veteran players a direct voice in the operation of the team. Members were voted on by their teammates and met with Harbaugh to discuss everything from team issues to practice schedules. Harbaugh made it clear, however, that the council was not the only source of leadership inside the locker room.
"We feel like we've got leadership throughout the roster," Harbaugh said in 2022. "We want to honor that and recognize that -- that we're a team and that we have a team of leaders."
Game-day captains were handled differently. Rather than naming a permanent group for the season, Harbaugh selected captains on a week-to-week basis. The choices could change depending on circumstances, the opponent, or simply an opportunity to recognize a particular player's leadership.

In its early years, Chinese battery leader CATL focused on electric vehicles (EVs), riding the explosive growth of the global e-mobility market. The company has since taken a turn, aggressively expanding its energy storage business with a target for storage to generate 50% of its global sales by 2030.
Today, CATL stands as one of the world's largest grid storage suppliers, powering megaprojects such as Synergy's 2.4GW-hour (GWh) Collie Battery in Australia and the 1.4GWh Gemini Solar-Plus-Storage project in Nevada, US.
In an exclusive interview with Power Technology, CATL's managing director of Western Europe, Hank Zhao, and chief technology officer of AC (alternating current) systems, Bruce Li, share how they translate learnings from the company's automotive history to its stationary storage unit. They also discuss the operational realities of energy storage leadership, executive decision-making in a fast-changing industry, and bridging the gap between Chinese technology and European markets.
Hank Zhao (HZ): I joined the company's EV business in 2010 and stayed there for 11 years before moving to the energy storage unit in mid-2021.
When the company was founded, it started with e-mobility and stationary storage as its two main business directions. But I think before 2020, the business scale of storage was much smaller than for EVs, and we didn't see as many opportunities. Then from 2021, there was a rapid boom in demand for energy storage, especially in markets like the US and China.

Rivian Automotive, Inc. (NASDAQ:RIVN) Chief Financial Officer Claire McDonough is stepping down at the end of October to join GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) in the same role, Reuters reported on August 27, just as Rivian ramps up production of its cheaper R2 SUV amid fragile U.S. EV demand.
McDonough will formally take the GE Vernova CFO seat on January 1, 2027, succeeding the retiring Ken Parks. Rivian said her exit is "not the result of any disagreement" and that she is relocating to the East Coast to be closer to family. McDonough joined Rivian in January 2021, led the company through its $13.7 billion IPO later that year, and helped structure its $5.8 billion Volkswagen Group joint venture. Derek Mulvey, Rivian's vice president of finance, will serve as interim CFO starting October 30 while the company runs a search for a permanent replacement. The news lands as Rivian scales the R2, its $45,000-to-$58,000 SUV that began customer deliveries in June, with the stock trading near $17, down more than 75% from its IPO price.
Rivian Automotive, Inc. (NASDAQ:RIVN) keeps improving its business as it enters the next phase of its growth strategy. The company has started R2 deliveries, and management raised its annual delivery forecast last month as customers showed stronger interest in the lower-priced SUV. Rivian also continues to pursue profitability while growing its vehicle lineup. This is giving the company an opportunity to build a larger customer base through a more affordable model.
Rivian also has an experienced finance team that can maintain continuity after Claire McDonough's departure. McDonough will remain at Rivian through the end of October and help with the transition, while Vice President of Finance Derek Mulvey will take over as interim CFO. That arrangement gives Rivian time to search for a permanent replacement without forcing the company to manage an abrupt leadership gap during the R2 rollout.
GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) gains a finance chief with experience in capital-intensive businesses, fundraising and cost management. McDonough helped Rivian take its business public, lead cost-cutting efforts and raise capital during its expansion. Those skills could benefit GE Vernova as the company expands its Power and Electrification businesses and manages rising demand for energy infrastructure.

CNBC reported that Chris Churchman, The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE:GS) partner who leads the bank's Marquee digital platform for institutional clients, warned that AI's spread across Wall Street risks eroding the reasoning skills of the next generation of bankers.
Churchman said on Goldman's internal "Exchanges" podcast, "There's a huge danger here that in the era of AI, we outsource our reasoning to these models, and we have cognitive atrophy that stops us being able to reason from first principles ourselves." He compared it to how GPS and search engines eroded navigation skills and said much of banking's knowledge is learned only "by doing." Churchman said the firm has not yet determined how it will manage the transition.
The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE:GS) is surfacing this risk proactively, through its own senior AI leadership, rather than being caught off guard by it later. Having the executive who leads Marquee flag the danger publicly signals internal scrutiny that could help Goldman build safeguards into its AI rollout before problems show up in deal execution. It is an advantage over firms deploying AI without asking the same questions.
The near-term efficiency case for AI remains fully intact regardless of the long-term talent question. CNBC itself framed the tradeoff as a "devil's bargain" that could make the industry more profitable today while potentially eroding the talent it needs for tomorrow. It means Goldman still captures AI's productivity benefits now even as it works out the downstream risk.
Marquee itself is a genuine strategic **** et getting AI investment. CNBC reported that OpenAI said it will end model access through Cursor on November 12, following **** e Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) $60 billion all-stock acquisition of Cursor's parent company, Anysphere, which closed on August 14.
OpenAI said it "cannot be confident that **** eX will use our technology within our terms of service, based on our experience with Elon Musk's companies violating contracts," pointing to disputes involving X and xAI, including Musk's own courtroom admission that xAI had trained on OpenAI's output. Cursor CEO Michael Truell said on X that OpenAI models handle about 5% of Cursor's user traffic and that the two companies are discussing the decision.
Musk responded on X, calling OpenAI's leadership "utterly untrustworthy." Anthropic co-founder Tom Brown said his company will instead increase compute to support Claude in Cursor.
The actual business disruption looks limited based on the numbers involved. Cursor's own CEO said OpenAI models account for only about 5% of user traffic. It means the vast majority of Cursor's usage already runs on other model providers, limiting how much this cutoff changes the product most users experience.
Cursor can reduce its dependence on OpenAI as **** e Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) expands its AI ecosystem. Losing access to OpenAI models could push Cursor to deepen its relationships with Anthropic and other providers, while **** eX can use its growing AI infrastructure to support the coding platform. That diversification could give Cursor more control over its model supply and reduce its exposure to decisions made by a direct competitor.

Samsung Electronics currently dominates the still-niche foldable smartphone market, and a Samsung mobile executive told CNN that broader competition in the category would help, saying "the more visibility there is on the category, the better."
The foldable iPhone could become a genuine new revenue and margin driver rather than another incremental refresh. **** ysts expect the premium device to lift Apple's average selling prices and margins, giving the company a new high-end product category instead of another year of iterative Pro-model upgrades.
Even Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)'s biggest foldable rival is publicly welcoming its entry. Samsung's own mobile product management executive said more players in the category would increase visibility and help the market overall. It suggests Apple's foldable could expand total demand rather than simply redistributing existing Samsung sales.
The iPhone 18 launch also gives new CEO John Ternus an opportunity to show Apple's hardware and AI strategy from the outset of his tenure. Expected upgrades such as the 2-nanometer A20 Pro chip could strengthen the iPhone's performance and AI capabilities. Bank of America described Ternus's leadership as an opportunity to cement "Apple's device dominance in an AI-enabled era." A successful launch could therefore give investors greater confidence in Apple's ability to compete in AI-powered devices.

Mike McCarthy is wasting little time putting his own stamp on the Pittsburgh Steelers, with the new head coach set to end one of Mike Tomlin's longest-running traditions before the 2026 season begins.
Rather than sticking with permanent captains, McCarthy has confirmed that Pittsburgh will use a weekly captain format, giving different players the opportunity to take on a leadership role throughout the season.
Tomlin stepped down in January after 19 seasons in charge, having never overseen a losing campaign. His approach included naming seasonal captains, with four players chosen for those roles last year.
Aaron Rodgers led the offence, Cameron Heyward and T.J. Watt represented the defence, while Miles Killebrew handled special teams. Killebrew has since left Pittsburgh for Tampa Bay.

With Richard Hughes' move to Al-Hilal now confirmed, Liverpool are seeking a new sporting director for the fifth time since 2022.
Hughes joined Liverpool in the summer of 2024 and oversaw the appointments of Arne Slot then Andoni Iraola. He informed the club earlier this year that he wanted to pursue a new challenge in Saudi Arabia.
Mike Gordon, the president of Fenway Sports Group (FSG), is overseeing the process of finding Hughes' replacement, with Liverpool keen to make a swift appointment.
Liverpool will look at internal candidates, but have not ruled out the possibility of appointing someone from outside the club. There is a desire to have someone that is committed long term.
When the question of stability was put to Billy Hogan, Liverpool's CEO, this summer, he told BBC Sport: "I would send a message that we are in a very healthy place as a football club - the leadership from the ownership is in a very steady place and we're looking forward to the next season and the season ahead."

Adobe is handing over control to a new CEO after the current CEO spent 18 years in the role, as artificial intelligence is set to disrupt the software company that powers Photoshop and Creative Cloud.
Adobe (ADBE) is undergoing one of its largest leadership overhauls ever at a particularly challenging time for investors.
Anil Chakravarthy will become president and CEO of software giant Adobe, succeeding Shantanu Narayen, who has been at the helm for more than 18 years. Chakravarthy will take over on Dec. 1, and Narayen will move to the role of executive chair.
But Wall Street's response hinted at the scale of the task confronting Adobe's new boss.
Adobe shares fell nearly 7% on Sept. 4, after the leadership announcement and David Wadhwani's departure. Wadhwani ran Adobe's creativity and productivity business and was a potential CEO candidate.
