DUBAI/WASHINGTON, Sept 20 (Reuters) - Iran and the United States exchanged new threats on Sunday, with President Donald Trump warning Iran would fail economically or face its leadership being wiped out if it didn't make a deal, and the Iranian ‌military saying it would retaliate harshly to any fresh attack.
The conflict has looked stalemated for months, with no sign either side was ready ‌for concessions even as it has deepened a global energy crisis, cratered swathes of Iran's economy and spilled over into new regional escalations.
In a phone call with a Fox News reporter, Trump said Iran's leaders should make a deal, rot economically or be wiped out, the reporter said.
However, with Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian expected in New York this week for the United Nations General ***** embly, Trump said he would be open to meeting him, the Fox reporter added.

Palantir stock has had a rough stretch. A 5-star Wall Street **** yst just said the market is reading the company wrong.
UBS **** yst Karl Keirstead raised his price target on Palantir Technologies to $250 from $220 on Sept. 15, reiterating his Buy rating, according to CNBC. At Palantir's Sept. 14 closing price of roughly $173, the new target implies about 44% upside.
Keirstead's updated view stemmed directly from Palantir's Sept. 10 AIPCon11 event, where Palantir brought together customers, executives, and partners to discuss how companies are deploying its AI platform in real operations.
"Our view of Palantir as the best AI enabler in the market, making frontier models and AI useful in large enterprises, was, if anything, bolstered by these conversations, and demand momentum seems robust," Keirstead wrote in a note shared with clients.
He described three points that stood out from the event. Customer conversations kept coming back to AI sovereignty, the idea that enterprises and governments want control over their own data and AI infrastructure, rather than handing it to a small number of large cloud providers.

Snowflake's beat rippled across enterprise software, with ServiceNow, Atlassian, Adobe, Intuit, and Salesforce, Inc. (NYSE:CRM) all up 3.5% to 6% on the same day, while the sector-wide iShares Expanded Tech-Software ETF rose 3%.
That Snowflake-driven spike was piled on top of a much bigger adjustment made by Salesforce, Inc. (NYSE:CRM) on its own. The company released its second-quarter fiscal 2027 results on August 26, a week before Snowflake Inc. (NYSE:SNOW), with revenue of $11.35 billion, up 11% year-over-year, with current remaining performance obligations up 14% to $33.5 billion and adjusted EPS of $5.90, exceeding the $3.27 consensus. Along with those results, Salesforce and Anthropic announced Claudeforce, an expanded partnership that initially brings Salesforce data, workflows and business logic directly into Claude through a plugin with 37 prebuilt sales skills. The companies plan additional integrations across Claude, Salesforce and Slack. That said, Salesforce recorded $2.61 billion in net gains on strategic investments during the quarter, which added $2.53 per share to non-GAAP EPS.
Taken together, the two events suggest that enterprise AI adoption can increase the value and consumption of established software platforms when AI is connected to existing corporate data and workflows

ATLANTA (AP) — Drake Baldwin doubled to center field in the 11th inning to score Ha-Seong Kim from first base and the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-5 on Friday night in the opening game of a key NL East series.
The first-place Braves extended their lead over the Phillies to five games. The teams split a four-game series in Philadelphia that began last Friday.
Luis Arraez's single to left field off Didier Fuentes (7-2) in the 11th drove in designated runner Garrett Stubbs to give Philadelphia a 5-4 lead. Kim's single off Brooks Raley (5-6) in the bottom of the inning drove in Ozzie Albies to tie it. Baldwin followed with the winning double.
Phillies right-hander Jonathan Bowlan blew a 3-2 lead in the ninth. Bowlan gave up a one-out single to Mike Yastrzemski. Pinch-runner DaShawn Keirsey Jr., who was recalled before the game, scored from first on Sean Murphy's single up the middle and center fielder Derek Hill's fielding error.
Aaron Nola gave up homers to Matt Olson in the first and Austin Riley in the seventh. Braves left-hander Chris Sale allowed three runs on only three hits in seven innings but struggled with two outs in the second. Edmundo Sosa singled before Sale walked Bryan De La Cruz and hit J.T. I'm not a doctor, but as I understand it an intercostal strain is slightly different from an oblique strain. An intercostal strain affects the muscles under the ribs. An oblique strain affects the sides of the abdomen. In any case, it's an Injured List visit for Thomas. He will join Bryce Elder as the second Braves player placed there this week.
In case you missed it, Mauricio Dubon pulled away from the plate with an oblique issue in today's game. According to reports, Walt said postgame that he felt something in his back and it wasn't a big deal. We might see DaShawn Keirsey Jr. on the active roster for the Philadelphia series tomorrow, but we don't know at this point. I'm not sure what the Braves will do if that Dubon goes down. We will see more of Ha-Seong Kim, I'm sure. But I'll take two hits a game like today while he's gone.

CAIRO/DUBAI, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Yemen's Tehran-backed Houthis attacked four cities in the south of U.S. ally Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, wounding more than 70 people and setting oil installations ablaze in what appeared to be a major expansion of the six-month-old Middle East war.
The Houthis, who ‌control most of Yemen's populated areas including the capital, said they had launched a broad operation deep into Saudi territory. They used drones and missiles to strike a ‌Saudi airbase in the southern city of Khamis Mushair, and targets belonging to Saudi Arabia's state oil company in nearby Abha, Najran on the Yemeni border and Jazan, a major Red Sea port.
Saudi authorities described blazes at the sites and said women and children were among the 73 people hurt. The reports of such large numbers of wounded suggested the attacks were among the biggest carried out against Saudi Arabia since the United States and Israel launched their war against Iran in February.
Confirmed images of the aftermath of the attacks in the Saudi cities were not immediately available. The Houthis released pictures of an explosion of what they said were trucks from Saudi Arabia they had struck at the border in another area.

LONDON, Aug 24 (Reuters) - Britain set out plans to spend £10 billion ($13.6 billion) on lower-cost housing for renters with a focus on London, although its target ‌for offering social rent was lower than a pledge made by new ‌Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
The government said around 60% of homes delivered through the funding would be for social rent — a subsidised cheaper form of rent that can be built by local councils or housing **** ociations.
That was in line with the proportion set out by the government of former Prime Minister Keir Starmer, which created the programme, but below Burnham's pledge to deliver ‌all housing under the programme ⁠via local councils.
Burnham, who took over in July, has said empowering local councils to build social housing, as Britain did after World War ⁠Two, could lower the amount of the welfare bill that goes to private landlords, reduce homelessness and provide security to people on lower incomes.
"Councils built this country out of a housing crisis once before. Backed properly, and trusted to get on with it, they will do ‌it again," Burnham said in a statement late on Monday, which included details of the first wave of funding.

The Los Angeles Rams placed two players on injured reserve on Monday, and signed two more at the same positions to compete for a role with the team this season. The Rams placed cornerback Zech McPhearson and linebacker Keir Thomas on IR, while signing cornerback Steven Gilmore and linebacker Devean Deal to take their places.
In addition, guard Justin Dedich passed a physical and could be on a track to return to the team soon after dealing with a hand injury.
Rams signed CB Steven Gilmore and OLB Devean Deal, put CB Zech McPhearson and OLB Keir Thomas on IR and waived ILB Daniel Rickert, the team announced. OL Justin Dedich, who was on non-football injury list because of a hand injury, passed physical.
Deal played at Tulane and TCU prior to going undrafted in the 2026 draft. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks but was waived in May.
Gilmore went undrafted in 2023 after a career with Marshall. He has spent time in the NFL with the Lions and Cardinals, plus two stints with the Birmingham Stallions in the UFL. He is the younger brother of Stephon Gilmore.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump plans to visit Ireland next month to attend the Irish Open golf tournament at his golf course in Doonbeg in County Clare on the country's Atlantic coast, according to a White House official.
The trip is the most recent example of how the president blurs the line between official business and travel in ways that can benefit his family business. His sons have taken over day-to-day control of the Trump Organization, but the September trip once again lays bare how Trump has leveraged his second term to pad his family's profits in a variety of ways.
Trump is scheduled to be in Ireland on Sept. 12 and 13 and will join an event with U.S. embassy workers and business officials before attending the golf tournament at Trump International Golf Links Ireland in Doonbeg, according to the White House official, who was not authorized to speak publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
Trump's course in Bedminster, New Jersey, hosted a LIV golf tournament in August. Another Trump course at Doral in South Florida is scheduled to host a PGA event, the Cadillac Championship, in March 2028, and Trump has talked about his course in Turnberry, Scotland, hosting the British Open, which it last did in 2009, before Trump bought the resort. A return of the British Open to that property continues to face major logistical hurdles.
Last summer, Trump went to Scotland for five days to golf at Turnberry and later inaugurated a new Trump golf course in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire. The White House refused to call that midsummer jaunt a vacation, but insisted it was a working trip — and Trump found time between games to talk about trade with then-British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Wesley Bailey wasn't on anyone's radar to make the L.A. Rams 53-man roster, but a strong showing against the New Orleans Saints on Saturday had some comparing him to Leonard Floyd, a former top-10 pick in the draft. Eating against Alex Wollschlaeger, an undrafted rookie out of Kentucky who is listed as the Saints third-string tackle, Bailey hit Zach Wilson with a first quarter sack.
Later, Bailey fought off a block in the run game to punch out the ball at the goal line to keep New Orleans scoreless on the day. An impressive performance in a preseason setting.
One month ago, Turf Show Times compiled over 100 53-man rosters compiled by Rams fans and made a single consensus edition, and unsurprisingly it did not feature Bailey. ******* ody would have expected that for an undrafted rookie going into his first training camp and Bailey's $35,000 signing bonus was decently-sized, although not as much as Dan Villari.
There just wasn't a lot about him that stood out, and Bailey didn't even rank among the top-10 players to not make the cut on those 53-man rosters.
Instead, Rams fans projected that L.A. would only keep four edge rushers, including Desjuan Johnson as the last man in behind the obvious top-three. Instead, Keir Thomas was on 33-percent of your rosters, which ranked as the most for any outside linebacker who didn't make the team.

At least one Wall Street ******* yst is skeptical that private equity firm Silver Lake will pull off a deal to acquire software maker Workday (WDAY). Workday stock popped on Feb. 13 amid reports of Silver Lake's interest but has cooled off the next two trading sessions.
In early 2026, Workday Cofounder and Executive Chairman Aneel Bhusri returned as chief executive officer. Slowing subscription revenue growth has pressured Workday stock. UBS ******* yst Karl Keirstead in a report on Monday said that private equity firm Silver Lake in unlikely to buy out the enterprise software maker.
"From the perspective of Workday, the founder only returned to the CEO role in February with an apparent mission to invest in the AI suite and accelerate growth," Keirstead said. "For him (and the board) to turn around in a matter of months and negotiate a sale, at a historically depressed free cash flow multiple and before any material time for Workday to realize any upside from these investments, strikes us as very surprising."
Second-quarter earnings are due for Workday stock on Aug. 27.
Other software stocks, including SAP (SAP) and Oracle (ORCL), climbed last week amid speculation over a Workday buyout. There has been growing investor concern that software-as-a-service companies could be disrupted by artificial intelligence-driven competition, an event referred to as a" SaaSpocalypse."

For the Los Angeles Rams, the biggest surprise coming into the season was their rapid improvement within the outside linebacker room. Already entering with two-time Pro Bowler Jared Verse, the team used picks and the player to acquire Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett in a blockbuster trade.
In the meantime, Pro Bowler Byron Young has looked great, while Josaiah Stewart took massive strides in the offseason with his development. After their first preseason game, it's becoming apparent that they have tremendous depth within the room, with overlooked players such as Keir Thomas and Desjuan Johnson pushing for more playing time.
Head coach Sean McVay spoke about the depth and progression of the room on Monday.
"I thought they did a good job," said McVay. "I thought Keir and 'Des' made their presence felt. I thought 'D.P.' [Darryl Peterson III] and also Wes Bailey did a good job. Joe Coniglio does a great job with that group as a whole and they got some great guys to be able to learn from with 'B.Y.', obviously Myles and his mentorship here, and I think Josaiah Stewart's taking tremendous strides."

Women's soccer legend Jess Fishlock is going out with a bang in her retirement season scoring the late game-winner for Seattle Reign less than two minutes after substituting on.
The Reign took a 2-0 lead only 10 minutes in with goals by Mia Fishel and Maddie Dahlien in the sixth and 10th minutes respectively. Bay FC then responded with a goal of their own in the 14th minute by Hannnah Bebar. Bay FC created a few more chances than the Reign in the second half and equalized in the 75th minute with a set piece in which Keira Barry was hiding and got completely open in a wide area.
Bay FC pushed for the winner in the next few minutes, but the Reign weathered the storm then took advantage of a counter in the 85th minute. Seattle stole a throw-in pass by Bay near the midfield and quickly sent a long ball up to Fishlock. The Welsh legend allowed the long ball to bounce once and headed it forward before knocking it in with her right foot for the win.

The 23-year-old from Carmarthen started the day at 9am in the first heat of the keirin.
Twelve hours later and having emphatically claimed the gold on the final day of competition, Finucane was tasked with carrying the Welsh flag as Glasgow closed the Games.

Now, the French national team has appealed to FIFA, the soccer governing body, to rescind Michael Olise’s yellow card, which he received during the match with Paraguay on Saturday. Olise was penalized for a tackle for contact with Paraguyan Matias Galarza’s face, but replays showed Olise only held Galarza’s shirt.
A yellow card doesn’t directly translate into a suspension like a red card, but France evidently feels that overturning Balogun’s suspension has opened the door. It follows British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also intervening with FIFA to prevent moving up the start time for England’s match against Mexico over weather concerns, with England believing that they wouldn’t have enough time to train for high-altitude conditions at Mexico’s national stadium, Estadio Azeteca.
FIFA, meanwhile, denied an appeal from Belgium Monday challenging the decision to lift Balogun’s red card.

The clash is rivalling the most expensive World Cup knockout fixtures ever after England battled to a 2-1 victory over DR Congo thanks to Harry Kane’s rescue act to set up a mouthwatering tie at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, at 1am BST on Monday.

The Wisconsin Soccer Coaches **** ociation announced its girls all-state teams for the 2026 spring season.
Featured on the teams are four members of WIAA Division 1 state champion Divine Savior Holy Angels , three members of D1 runner-up Muskego and three members of D2 state champion Brookfield Central to lead a host of local honorees. Arrowhead senior Amara Leppla was named the state player of the year to lead the first team.
