Data center developer Crusoe said Thursday it raised $3.9 billion in a Series F round that pushes its valuation to $30.9 billion. The massive round was co-led by Atreides Management, Mubadala Capital, and Valor Equity Partners. Founders Fund, GIC, Nvidia, Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), Radical Ventures, and TPG also participated, according to Crusoe.
Crusoe also announced three new board members, including Cloudflare CFO Thomas Seifert; Bill Stein, partner and CIO at Primary Digital Infrastructure; and Redwood Materials founder and CEO JB Straubel, who also sits on Tesla's board. Straubel already has ties to Crusoe; he personally invested in the company in 2021, and Crusoe later became the first customer of Redwood's energy storage business.
The eight-year-old company's fresh capital infusion will help finance existing data center projects, including a large site in Abilene, Texas, used by OpenAI, as well as smaller, modular AI factories that can be transported by truck and connected to large power sources almost anywhere.
By manufacturing these modular data centers, called Spark, at its own facilities, Crusoe can deploy compute capacity quickly and without the need for large construction workforces. The smaller centers could also help Crusoe sidestep, at least in part, another major obstacle facing data center developers: backlash from local communities protesting massive complexes near their neighborhoods.
Crusoe co-founder and CEO Chase Lochmiller, who is pictured above, said in a statement he believes AI will usher in an era of abundance, but to get there will mean "controlling the infrastructure from electrons to tokens, and we're grateful to have investors who share that conviction."

The go ahead touchdown game with Anjaliyah Adams for the go ahead touchdown to put the Knights up 24-22 and then Acosia Morris would put the game away in the final minute with a rushing touchdown as Richwoods defeated Mahomet-Seymour 30-22.
In other flag football action Normal Community had a big 19-12 win over Joliet Catholic. Bailey Engel continued to chuck the ball all over the gridiron as she had a couple more touchdown passes.
In volleyball Limestone was at the Lincoln Invitational looking to win the tournament for the second consecutive year, but the Rockets fell in three sets to O'Fallon.
Washington competed in the Williamsville Invitational where the Panthers took down the host school in straight sets.
Peoria High hosted the First To The Finish cross country meet that saw more than 200 schools and nearly 5,000 runners competing. In the girls class 1A run Stark County's Dusti Smith finished in second place while Eureka was the team champ. On the boys side Stark County's Evan **** loch was the star as he finished in first place with a time of 14 minutes and 57 seconds.

A decision to change the location of an annual winter festival at just over a month's notice has been criticised as "sneaky" by a business group.
The Winter Droving has been held in Penrith for more than a decade, but this year the live music, outdoor performances and twilight procession will take place 20 miles away in Carlisle on 24 October.
Eden Arts director Adrian Lochhead said organisers had been working "until the last minute" to keep the event in Penrith but it had not been possible for financial reasons.
However, Penrith Business Improvement District (Bid) accused Eden Arts of "sneakily organising" the move for some time, while the local council said it was "disappointed" at the news.
Lochhead told BBC Radio **** bria the announcement did not happen earlier because they were "still trying" to stay in Penrith, but "it was becoming more and more impossible".

Celtic FC Women continued their winning start to the season, kicking off their first home fixture of the campaign with a 3-0 victory.
The Ghirls welcomed Montrose to the Kirkintilloch Community Sports Complex for their opening match at their new home.
Despite a dominant performance, which saw the Hoops hit the woodwork on three occasions, Grant Scott's side were made to wait, with the three goals coming in the final 10 minutes.
But those goals were worth the wait, with Casey Howe kicking off the scoring with a stunning strike from the edge of the area to open her Celtic account.
That was followed minutes later by another long-distance effort, this time for the returning Maria McAneny, playing her first minutes since April.

In what could have been a frustrating afternoon for the Hoops, Grant Scott's side showcased their quality with three superb strikes late on in the win at their new home in Kirkintilloch.

It was a special strike from the winger, who grabbed her first in green and white in style, powering an effort home off the underside of the bar.
And that was followed by another sublime strike going in off the underside of the woodwork, this time from Maria McAneny.

Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps spent over a decade racing each other in the pool at the highest level. Not only that, Lochte and Phelps crossed paths in many events, including battling head to head in the 200 Individual Medley and 400 Individual Medley countless times.
They were two of the greatest Olympians of all time, competing on the same timeline, however Lochte never once considered packing up and training alongside Phelps, and he's not shy about why.
"The best training program I've ever had was at the University of Florida, hands down the best," Lochte said on the Night Swim Podcast.
For Lochte, it wasn't close. Legendary coach Gregg Troy ran a program in Gainsville that fit Lochte like a glove, and Lochte says Troy simply understood how to get the most out of him.

In a new PEOPLE interview, Reid said she and Gillihan had mutual friends in Gainesville, Florida, exchanged invitations and personal advice, and spoke about Reid's marriage as it was falling apart. Reid now claims Gillihan was dating Lochte "behind my back."

Alessandro de Tullio went flag-to-flag from pole to claim a dominant Indy NXT victory at Portland International Raceway.
The Argentine led all 35 laps in the No. 14 AJ Foyt Racing entry to win by 2.169 seconds around the 12-turn, 1.964-mile natural road course. It marked de Tullio's second win of the season.
"Yeah, it wasn't easy," de Tullio said. "I had to take care of the tires; there was quite a bit of deg there towards the end. I went for the fastest lap at the end, but I didn't get it by almost nothing. But yeah, it was a good race, the start was a bit gnarly with Lochie (Hughes). He really charged into Turn 1, but we were able to hold that off. We were able to get a good restart after the safety car. The car was great. I can't thank the whole team enough."

At Colfax High School, it almost felt inevitable.
During an 11-day span in May, football coach Mike Morgan and girls basketball coach Corey Baerlocher entered their state coaches **** ociation Halls of Fame, while volleyball coach Sue Doering was inducted into the WIAA Hall of Fame.
Each built one of the state's premier programs in their respective sports. Together, they coached 23 state championship teams, hundreds of victories and generations of student-athletes.
Their names now sit alongside another pair of Colfax coaching legends who helped shape the school's athletic identity: longtime boys basketball coach Bob Bafus and former baseball coach Mike Parrish.

DETROIT (AP) — Two people who attended a prestigious Michigan fine arts school reported conduct of a **** ual nature by Jeffrey Epstein, a major donor, according to an investigation that also uncovered dozens of allegations spanning decades against nearly 50 other people.
Interlochen Center for the Arts operates a summer camp and performing arts school that draws students from around the world. It hired a law firm in 2024 to investigate reports of **** ual abuse by faculty and staff. Subsequently, it expanded the work to include information about Epstein, the 66-year-old financier who killed himself in jail in 2019.
Interlochen removed Epstein's name from a lodge after he was convicted of **** offenses in Florida in 2008. The building, renamed the Green Lake Lodge, was recently demolished after the U.S. Justice Department released millions of pages about him that had been compiled over the years.
Sanghavi Law Office says it collected 70 accounts from alumni alleging "physical conduct of a **** ual nature" by 47 faculty and staff members affiliated with Interlochen from the 1950s through the 2010s, most before 2000.
"The information gathered during this investigation is, simply, devastating," the 97-page report says, noting that alumni reported grooming, flirting, **** ual touching and **** .

Conservationists defending a historic tree standing in the way of President Donald Trump's border wall in Arizona began staging a "tree sit" on July 29 to keep contractors from tearing down the towering cottonwood.
The cottonwood is the last of four hardwood trees from a species that's believed to have stood alongside the U.S.-Mexico border in Lochiel, Arizona, for between 100 and 200 years. Department of Homeland Security contractors tore down the first of the three trees on July 27.
Conservationists in the area have rallied around the remaining tree, slamming Homeland Security for not picking an alternative route that does not involve cutting down the trees.
The cottonwoods have provided people a shady gathering place for generations, conservationists say. And for local wildlife, the trees are essential for the area's diverse and rare species, including potentially the few jaguars that range into the United States.
"Destroying these ancient cottonwoods is a death sentence for an entire ecosystem," said Russ McSpadden, a conservation advocate at the Center for Biological Diversity, a nonprofit founded in 1989 focused on protecting endangered species. "These magnificent cottonwoods survived centuries, nourishing wildlife through floods and drought, only to be bulldozed for the Trump administration's disastrous border wall."

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) — King Charles III took his time before officially opening the 23rd Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after emerging Thursday from the TARDIS of intergalactic adventurer "Doctor Who."
More than 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories will compete across 10 sports and six Para sports in the 11-day event. Charles formally opened the Games in his role as head of the Commonwealth.
The opening ceremony show began with a clip of what organizers called "the world's most famous police box" from the iconic sci-fi TV series going on a journey around Scotland. After visits to Loch Ness, the Kelpies, and Edinburgh Castle, it stopped to pick up Charles and Queen Camilla at Balmoral Castle.
It then materialized inside the Hydro arena — appearing on an onstage garden — and Charles and Camilla emerged, making their way down a ramp before taking up seats in the royal box.
Charles is not the first British monarch to make a memorable entrance to a major sporting event's opening ceremony.

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A Vermont man who was 17 when he and a friend killed a pair of married Dartmouth College professors 25 years ago is seeking to have his life sentence reduced to a minimum of 30 to 40 years.
Robert Tulloch, now 43, was automatically sentenced to life without parole after pleading guilty to first-degree murder in the 2001 stabbing deaths of Half and Susanne Zantop. But the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2012 that mandatory sentences of life without parole are unconstitutional for juveniles, and later applied that decision retroactively.
The rulings gave hundreds of juvenile lifers a shot at freedom, including five men serving life sentences in New Hampshire for murders they committed as teenagers. Tulloch's resentencing hearing, the last of the five, begins Monday in Grafton County Superior Court.
The state hasn't said what sentence it will seek. But in a court filing last week, Tulloch's lawyers argue that a minimum sentence in the range of 30 to 40 years is appropriate, based on a review of other murders committed by juveniles in New Hampshire and cases nationwide that were affected by the Supreme Court rulings.
Attorneys Richard Guerriero and Oliver Bloom also said Tulloch's prison records show he has matured, and that after some initial misconduct early on, he's had no major infractions since 2012 and no minor infractions since 2017. "The vast majority of his write-ups are for possessing too many books," they wrote.

At least 32 people were killed and 16 others injured after an overcrowded passenger bus plunged into a ravine in south-western Pakistan.
The bus was travelling from Quetta to Peshawar, when it crashed in the Dana Sar mountain range, on the border between Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, at about 08:00 local time (03:00 GMT) on Friday.
A government official at Zhob Hospital told BBC News that a total of 48 people, including a number of women and children, had been on board when the accident happened.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest a steering fault may have led the driver to lose control before skidding off the mountain range.

The Allen F. Blocher Planetarium will host shows at 2 p.m. Sundays. Each show lasts about an hour and includes a 25-minute presentation on the current night sky in central Wisconsin.
The events are free and open to the public, but donations are appreciated.
