The Minnesota United midfielder failed on two penalty kicks in a draw with UANL Tigres on Friday, but the Argentine totaled two goals and an ****** ist in a 3-1 win over Atlante in the third and final Leagues Cup match Tuesday at Allianz Field.
With the standout performance from Pereyra, the Loons ended a nine-game winless skid in all competitions. It's also the first time in eight games Minnesota has scored multiple goals.
Atlante took a 1-0 lead with a goal from Aaron Quiros in the 32nd minute. Loons defenders allowed it to happen: DJ Taylor gave up a run in behind, Julian Gressel failed to clear a pass, and Devin Padelford was the victim of a bad deflection into the back of the net.
The St. Paul stadium was mostly empty and was lifeless after the opening goal.

Aug 10 (Reuters) - Charl Schwartzel found an unusual hazard in ‌the final round at ‌LIV Golf Bedminster on Sunday when a fish appeared to swallow his ball after it rolled into the water beside the seventh ‌green.
The South African's ⁠tee shot at the 134-yard, par-three hole rolled ⁠off the putting surface and settled in the pond, where TV footage showed the ball being ******* ed ‌from beneath the water.
"Have you ever seen anything like this?" LIV Golf wrote in a social media post accompanying video ‌of the incident.
The former Masters champion had to take a one-stroke penalty ‌and settled for a bogey on the hole. He finished two-over par at the tournament, which was ‌won by Chilean Joaquin Niemann.

Samantha Morton just revealed why Hollywood stopped calling after The Odyssey. The actress opened up about industry challenges and a painful past firing in a candid new interview.
Samantha Morton recently revealed she hasn't worked for a year since filming Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. Morton played Circe, a witch and goddess on the island of Aeaea, in the epic film. She spoke about her career challenges on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
"I haven't worked for a year since making The Odyssey," Morton said on the podcast. She noted that she has "really good agents and a manager." However, she acknowledged the shifting landscape of the entertainment industry. "But at the end of the day, I'm 49. I do believe I'm a good actor, [but] there are other good actors out there," she continued. She added, "The politics of the industry has changed massively."
Morton also discussed being replaced in Spike Jonze's 2013 film Her. She originally read lines on set opposite Joaquin Phoenix for the voice **** istant character Samantha. Scarlett Johansson's voice ultimately replaced Morton's performance in post-production.

Real American Freestyle announced on Thursday that past UFC middleweight ***** leholder Khamzat Chimaev is set to make his second appearance with the promotion to face former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in the main event of RAF Moscow. The event takes place Sept. 5 on streams exclusively on FOX Nation in the U.S., while other global broadcast details will be announced.
Chimaev had a successful RAF debut with a first-round pinfall win against Dillon Danis in the main event of RAF 10 in June. The match was heated as Danis appeared to attempt a choke on Chimaev after a takedown, and the aftermath led to an all-out brawl between the two teams. In a recent interview with RAF co-founder Chad Bronstein, he told MMA Fighting that Chimaev is expected to compete multiple times for the promotion before the year ends.
Woodley is already slated to compete at RAF 12 in August against Joaquin Buckley. Against Sporting Kansas City — which allowed a Western Conference-worst 39 goals in 15 matches — MNUFC managed only a late goal in a 2-1 loss at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan.

Olympic gold medalist and six-time world champion Jordan Burroughs has an opponent for his Real American Freestyle (RAF) debut.
Last month, RAF announced that Burroughs signed with the promotion and would debut at the RAF 12 event on Aug. 22 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Now, the promotion has confirmed that Burroughs will face off versus UFC Welterweight and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Sean Brady in a catchweight main event.
I'm not an odds maker, but I would expect something like -10,000 would be appropriate here? Barring a freak injury, it's hard to give Brady any chance here. He's a great grappler and has excellent MMA wrestling, but Burroughs is a different animal on the wrestling mat. There might be some concern that Burroughs is 37 years old, but he was wrestling at an elite level just two years ago.
Unless guillotines are suddenly allowed, Brady is in for a rough night.
Credit to the No. 5-ranked UFC Welterweight for taking on a massive challenge in his own RAF debut. Inside the Octagon, Brady has won four of his last five, most recently dominating Joaquin Buckley for the entirety of their UFC 328 collision (even after some funky sports betting movement).

Nursulton Ruziboev made a big return to the Octagon earlier today earlier today (Sat., June 27, 2026) at UFC Baku LIVE on Paramount+ from inside National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, Azerbaijan, as the middleweight fighter put a violent stop to Andrey Pulyaev with a first-round submission (rear-naked choke).
Ruziboev, who was making his first Octagon appearance since May 2025, came into Saturday's "Prelims" tilt a betting favorite. Despite the long layoff, Ruziboev entered UFC Baku with a 4-1 UFC record with three finishes. He was the one who was expected to push the pace and force Pulyaev into uncomfortable positions.
Unfortunately for Pulyaev, he was on the defensive from the opening bell. After a brief standup period, Ruziboev changed levels and scored a slick takedown to gain back control. Pulyaev isn't known for his grappling skills and it showed. Ruziboev was able to act quickly and eventually locked up a rear-naked choke. Pulyaev refused to tap so Ruziboev gladly put him to sleep. It was pretty nasty.

Joaquin Niemann enjoyed a superb ending to his roller-coaster week at the US Open, having been involved in controversy earlier in the tournament.
Niemann fell victim to the new code of conduct introduced for major championships, when he threw his club in frustration during the opening round.
The Chilean launched his sand wedge on the sixth hole after twice hitting tee shots out of bounds and finding his ball in an awkward lie.
Niemann received a two-shot penalty for his outburst at Shinnecock Hills, where his nine was upped to an 11 on the par-four hole.
But it wasn't until after he had signed his scorecard that a USGA rule official asked to speak to him about the incident, which Niemann has now discussed following his fourth round on Sunday.

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (AP) — The U.S. Open summary for Joaquin Niemann looks like this: 71 holes of solid golf, one really bad one, a thrown club, a two-shot penalty and the willpower to not spend too much time wondering about what might have been.
"If my grandmother had tires, she'd be a car," Niemann said Sunday, after wrapping up a tournament sullied by an opening-round 11 on the par-4 sixth hole that featured two tee shots out of bounds and two penalty strokes for hurling his club in frustration.
Niemann shot 4-under 66 in the final round to finish at 1-over 281. It doesn't take heavy math to imagine the possibilities had he not shot 7-over par on one hole. More urgently, when he left the course, his 281 put him in a tie for seventh, which would earn him the invitation for next year that goes to the the top-10 finishers and ties.
His 66 paired with a 65 he shot in the second round, shortly after learning his 9 on No. 6 had been **** ped up two shots for violating the code of conduct. It meant Niemann was a good bet to tie for the two best rounds of the tournament along with recording the single worst one-hole score of the four rounds.
"A good experience, a good test for myself," he said. "What happened on Thursday and coming back, I was pretty proud of" myself.

At each of the first two major championships of the year, LIV players were a prominent part of the story over ithe weekend. That was not the case at the 2026 U.S. Open.
The league's two biggest stars missed the cut. More than half of its 13 players at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, New York, went home early. In the midst of a seven-week stretch without a tournament, plenty of LIV players struggled on Long Island, but some had great finishes to move up the leaderboard.
There were some bright moments, like Peter Uihlein shooting 66 on Sunday after an 80 on Saturday. And Caleb Surratt, making the weekend in his first major start. Joaquin Niemann, who had a notable 11 on Thursday, also signed for 66 on Sunday.

Looks like Kamaru Usman signed the contract after all.
A middleweight main event between Usman and fellow former UFC champion, Dricus du Plessis, has been booked to headline UFC’s upcoming Fight Night card on July 18 from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The 185-pound headliner was announced during Saturday’s broadcast of UFC Vegas 119 (results HERE).
It’s unknown at this time if DDP vs Usman will be a No. 1 contender’s bout in the UFC’s middleweight division, but it would make a ton of sense.
Du Plessis, 32, is coming off a brutal ****** le loss to Khamzat Chimaev all the way back at UFC 319. “Stillknocks” has been waiting to make his awaited Octagon return, but it will almost be a full year since he last fought when he meets Usman next month. Still, DDP can punch his ticket to a trilogy fight with current UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland with a standout performance at UFC Oklahoma City.
Usman, on the other hand, hasn’t fought since June 2025 when he beat down Joaquin Buckley at UFC Atlanta. The 39-year-old former UFC welterweight champion is certainly in the final stretch of his Hall of Fame career, but Usman still has some gas left in the tank. “Nigerian Nightmare” will have to get past DDP first if he wants to push for one final ****** le shot. Usman did beat Strickland in a welterweight matchup all the way back in 2017 so the history is there.

Kamaru Usman is returning to the middleweight division and getting a chance to jump right into ******* le contention against a former champion.
Former welterweight ******* leholder Usman will face Dricus Du Plessis in the main event of UFC Fight Night 281 on July 18 at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, OK. The entire card streams on Paramount+.
The promotion announced the five-round headliner between Du Plessis (23-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) and Usman (21-4 MMA, 16-3 UFC) on during Saturday's UFC Fight Night 279 broadcast.
Du Plessis, 32, returns to action for the first time since losing the 185-pound ******* le to Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 319 in August. It was the South African's first defeat inside the octagon, but with two victories over Sean Strickland, he remains one of the top contenders in the weight class and can put himself back in the discussion with a big victory.
Usman, 38, hasn't competed since June when he earned a unanimous decision victory over Joaquin Buckley. That result snapped a three-fight losing skid for "The Nigerian Nightmare," two of which came to Leon Edwards in 170-pound ******* le fights as well as a short-notice defeat to Chimaev at middleweight.

The USGA has been told that it has strayed into dangerous territory by penalising Joaquin Niemann for throwing a club during the first round of the US Open.
Niemann deserves enormous credit for making the cut at the third major of the year. His performance was all the more impressive because he made an 11 on one hole during his opening round in Southampton.
On the par four sixth hole, Niemann ended up hitting two ***** out of bounds. He was subsequently handed a two-shot penalty having thrown his club and lost his temper.
It is a new rule that led to Niemann being reprimanded. However, it is difficult to judge whether it was a fair decision or not given that the incident was not caught on camera.
And that perhaps poses a problem.

The Chilean was given a two-shot penalty by US Open officials on Friday, shortly after completing a fog-delayed first round.
The 27-year-old was punished for "serious misconduct" under rule 1.2b after throwing his sand wedge in frustration on the sixth hole after he twice hit tee shots out of bounds and then had an awkward lie while playing his next shot.
That meant Niemann's nine was upped to an 11 on the par-four hole and he eventually signed for an eight-over 78 before responding with a five-under 65 in the second round to sit just inside the projected cut line at three over par overall.
"I finished my round, signed my scorecard, and then a referee came up to me and said 'I need to talk to you'," Niemann said.

After news broke that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund would cease backing LIV Golf beyond this season, putting its future in doubt, Jon Rahm was asked in May about the status of his contract with the tour. “I don’t see many ways out,” the 31-year-old Spaniard answered pragmatically.
Rahm’s next steps appear dependent on whether LIV can secure external funding to continue operating beyond this year—if its 2026 schedule can even be completed—but in the meantime, his golden handcuffs haven’t been so bad. Rahm’s contract, which reportedly guaranteed him at least $300 million when the former world No. 1 left the PGA Tour in December 2023 to sign with LIV, has made him the world’s highest-paid golfer for the third consecutive year.
Forbes estimates Rahm hauled in $111 million over the last 12 months before taxes and agent fees, sending his total pay for the past three years north of $400 million. His compensation since last June includes an estimated $101 million in prize money and on-course bonuses as well as $10 million in off-course earnings from brand partnerships, appearance fees and licensing income. In addition to his contractual guarantee with LIV, which Forbes estimates to be worth $50 million for the past year, Rahm pulled in an $18 million bonus in 2025 as LIV’s individual champion for the second year in a row, and he has won two tournaments so far this season, helping push his total up 9% from the estimated $102 million he pocketed in the 12 months that ended in June 2025.
As a whole, however, golf’s biggest stars have seen their paychecks dip. Together, the sport’s ten top earners have made an estimated $536 million since last year’s U.S. Open, down 12% from last year’s $612 million and 29% from the record $752 million of 2023, the first full year to incorporate LIV’s initial wave of massive signing bonuses.
The decline is in part the result of LIV golfers Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson dropping off the list, with their original 2022 contracts having expired or nearing completion. The embattled tour also hasn’t made any big-ticket additions to its roster recently, leaving Bryson Dechambeau (No. 4 among the world’s highest-paid golfers with $52 million) and Joaquin Niemann (tied for seventh with $34 million) as the only LIV golfers to make the cut other than Rahm.

TRACY, Calif. (AP) — Officials in a Northern California city urged people sensitive to smoke to keep indoors as firefighters spent a third day Saturday battling a fire in a huge medical equipment warehouse.
Air quality on the south side of Tracy, a city of 100,000 people where the Medline warehouse fire has been burning since Thursday, was in the "unhealthy" range, according to air monitors.
Firefighters expected the next few days to remain smoky amid a lengthy effort to put out the fire inside the building, South San Joaquin County Fire Authority Fire Chief Randall Bradley said in a statement.
The local fire marshal was investigating, and officials are meeting with company representatives, structural engineers and others to ***** s the building, Bradley said.
Plans were being made for employees to retrieve their vehicles from the site. Meanwhile, firefighters urged people to avoid the area and not touch or move debris from the fire.

Jun. 8—PULLMAN — Washington State's recent influx of visitors has begun to bear fruit.
The Cougars have secured a commitment from wide receiver Tomas Dixon, who announced his decision on Monday afternoon, becoming the 10th member of WSU's class of 2027. Listed at 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, Dixon comes from San Joaquin Memorial High in Fresno, California.
Last weekend, a host of prospects made their official visits to Pullman, and some have decided to commit to coach Kirby Moore and the Cougars. That list now includes Dixon, who hauled in 30 catches for 779 yards and eight touchdowns last fall, his junior season. Dixon also plays defensive back, where he posted 35 total tackles and two interceptions last season.
Dixon turned down a handful of offers to choose WSU, including hometown Fresno State, plus Colorado State, San Diego State and Texas State, all future members of the new Pac-12. Dixon's full list of offers also includes UNLV, New Mexico, San Jose State, Hawaii and FCS clubs Idaho, Montana State, Sacramento State and Northern Arizona.
For WSU, Dixon's pledge is the latest in a recent string of them. On Saturday, the Cougars earned a commitment from three-star edge rusher Colton Richter, and a day later, they reeled in one from tight end Jettson Gillam. Both Richter and Gillam made their official visits to WSU last weekend.

Four former Denver Broncos players hit the NFL's transaction wire in recent days.
Offensive tackle Marques **** , who was waived by the Broncos last month, was picked up by the Miami Dolphins. **** (6-5, 312 pounds) originally joined the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Kentucky in 2025. He spent part of his rookie season on Denver's practice squad. The Edmonton Elks have also placed **** on their negotiations list, so if the lineman ever runs out of NFL opportunities, the CFL could be a fallback option for him.
Elsewhere in the league, the San Francisco 49ers waived running back Sincere McCormick, who cleared waivers and is now a free agent. McCormick (5-8, 205 pounds) spent part of last season on the Broncos' practice squad.
Additionally, long snapper Zach Triner was released by the New York Giants last week. Triner, who won Super Bowl LV with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, spent most of the spring with Denver in 2025 before being cut. He had a stint with the Washington Commanders last season before landing in New York this offseason.
Finally, wide receiver Joaquin Davis was waived by the Minnesota Vikings. Davis signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina Central last spring, but did not make the 53-man roster as a rookie. After clearing waivers, Davis will look to find a new NFL home as a free agent.

Belal Muhammad's time as the top welterweight is becoming an increasingly distant memory after he suffered another loss in the UFC Fight Night 278 main event.
Muhammad (24-6 MMA, 15-6 UFC) had no answers for Gabriel Bonfim (20-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) on Saturday at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas. He lost all five rounds on each of the three judges' scorecards, marking his third consecutive defeat since being dethroned of UFC gold by Jack Della Maddalena in May 2025.
Muhammad struggled to find ways to be effective in his previous setbacks to Della Maddalena and Ian Machado Garry, but those losses are to a more proven caliber of fighter than Bonfim, respectfully.
Maybe Bonfim goes on to be that guy in the division. Unfortunately, that does nothing of benefit to Muhammad now. He turns 38 next month, and this is obviously a proven danger zone for a fighter.
It's not to say Muhammad can't still get some significant wins in this division. His rival and fellow former champion Kamaru Usman was ironically in a nearly identical situation of three straight losses, and he managed to get back on track with a main event win over Joaquin Buckley.
