The Minnesota United midfielder failed on two penalty kicks in a draw with UANL Tigres on Friday, but the Argentine totaled two goals and an ****** ist in a 3-1 win over Atlante in the third and final Leagues Cup match Tuesday at Allianz Field.
With the standout performance from Pereyra, the Loons ended a nine-game winless skid in all competitions. It's also the first time in eight games Minnesota has scored multiple goals.
Atlante took a 1-0 lead with a goal from Aaron Quiros in the 32nd minute. Loons defenders allowed it to happen: DJ Taylor gave up a run in behind, Julian Gressel failed to clear a pass, and Devin Padelford was the victim of a bad deflection into the back of the net.
The St. Paul stadium was mostly empty and was lifeless after the opening goal.

Mexico is still on top at the U-20 level.
El Tri beat the United States, 2-0, in the final of the Concacaf U-20 Championship in the final at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on Sunday, Aug. 9.
The final was mostly for pride, with both teams already qualified for the U-20 World Cup and each side already having their place in the 2028 Olympics secured thanks to the U.S. hosting that tournament and Mexico having defeated Canada in the semifinal to secure the other Concacaf place.
Mexico scored a pair of goals on set pieces to win the ***** le and defend the crown from the 2024 tournament when it beat the U.S. in León with a dramatic rally that saw a late goal and an extra-time win.
This edition was more straightforward, with Atlante center back Cristóbal Alfaro nodding in a pair of goals, the first on a set piece from the left wing and the second on a corner kick that U.S. goalkeeper Kayne Rizvanovich spilled and Alfaro was able to win and put into the net.

Real Salt Lake triumphed over Atlante FC with a 4-0 win in its second of three 2026 Leagues Cup matches. The victory was a result of four different goal-scorers; Spanish-international Sergi Solans, Utah-native Zach Booth, defender Lukas Engel and Argentine-midfielder Pablo Ruiz. The win gave Salt Lake three points in the North American tournament and a victory over Atlante FC during their first-ever matchup.
In Colorado, the Utah Royals fell to Denver Summit FC 2-1 in its second-ever meeting against the expansion team. The lone goal was courtesy of Royals' defender Tatumn Milazzo, who notched her fourth goal of the 2026 season.
RSL Head coach Pablo Maestroni made six changes to the starting lineup since last Tuesday's loss to Tigres UANL, the Club's first match of the Leagues Cup tournament. Inserted into the lineup was Solans, Booth and star Diego Luna.
Salt Lake found their first of many successes in the 17th minute when Luna made his way up the left side of the pitch to find Solans in the middle, who slotted the ball home for his first against the Liga MX rivals. Solans is a key part of Salt Lake's attack, leading the Club in regular season goals with 7 in only his rookie season.
Coming back from halftime, Luna sent a ball over to Booth who took a shot from outside the box that ripped into the net in the 50th minute. Just minutes later, RSL forward Morgan Guilavogui found Danish fullback Engel who found the back of the net from the center of the box in the 54th minute, giving RSL a 3-0 lead.
