At each of the first two major championships of the year, LIV players were a prominent part of the story over ithe weekend. That was not the case at the 2026 U.S. Open.
The league's two biggest stars missed the cut. More than half of its 13 players at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, New York, went home early. In the midst of a seven-week stretch without a tournament, plenty of LIV players struggled on Long Island, but some had great finishes to move up the leaderboard.
There were some bright moments, like Peter Uihlein shooting 66 on Sunday after an 80 on Saturday. And Caleb Surratt, making the weekend in his first major start. Joaquin Niemann, who had a notable 11 on Thursday, also signed for 66 on Sunday.
