Automattic has a new interim chief financial officer: Jeremy Klaperman, the CFO of the company's WordPress VIP Enterprise business unit. The news, shared internally on Friday, follows last week's attempted ouster of Automattic CEO Matt Mullenweg, which ultimately resulted in the departure of the board members who voted him out and other executives, including then-CFO Mark Davies. Davies was briefly interim CEO before Mullenweg retook the position.
In a Slack post, Mullenweg shared that Klaperman had previously acted as Automattic CFO when Davies had been on sabbatical. He noted that the board — whose new members have yet to be announced — will still need to evaluate internal and external candidates for the position before a final decision is made.
In addition, Mullenweg said in the post that a candidate to become the company's chief legal officer had also just verbally accepted the position, replacing Chief Legal Officer Andy Missan, who has also since left the company alongside Davies. TechCrunch recently reported that Davies and Missan had signed reciprocal severance deals during Mullenweg's 33-hour leave of absence before he returned as CEO.
"I have 100% confidence in our cash and financial position," Mullenweg's post concluded, adding "There is still work to do, but everything is within our control and depends only on Automattic's ability to execute."
In subsequent updates, Mullenweg also said to "stay tuned" for board announcements, and noted that special advisor and creator of Wolfram|Alpha, Stephen Wolfram, will continue in his position. The company's next board meeting is scheduled for September 23.

On August 6, Millicom International Cellular (NASDAQ:TIGO) released its second-quarter 2026 results, and the numbers pulled in two directions at once. Revenue jumped 59.4% year over year to $2.18 billion, while Adjusted EBITDA crossed $1 billion for the first time in the company's history at $1.01 billion, up 58% from a year earlier. Yet net profit attributable to company owners fell 83.9% to just $109 million. Investors weighing this quarter have to decide which of those two stories actually describes the business.
The headline figures are hard to ignore. Service revenue reached $2.04 billion in the quarter, up 60.1% year over year, while H1 2026 revenue climbed to $4.16 billion from $2.74 billion a year earlier, a 52.3% increase. Equity free cash flow hit a quarterly record of $327 million, up 50.1% from a year ago, and leverage actually fell to 2.73x even after Millicom absorbed acquisitions in Colombia, Ecuador and Uruguay. Millicom already declared a $3.00 per share dividend in May, to be paid out quarterly over the next 12 months, and on August 5, the board approved an additional interim dividend of $1.50 per share, split into two $0.75 installments due January 15, 2027, and April 15, 2027. The company also raised its full-year 2026 equity free cash flow guidance from at least $900 million to around $1.1 billion, while lowering its year-end leverage target from about 2.5x to below 2.5x. CEO Marcelo Benitez pointed to Ecuador and Uruguay as evidence the integration playbook works, saying both markets have reached margins and cash generation broadly in line with the Millicom average, with Colombia and Chile now showing early improvement on the same path.
Strip out the acquisitions, and the picture looks far less dramatic. Organic revenue growth was just 4.3% in the quarter and 4.2% for the first half, a fraction of the 59.4% and 52.3% reported figures. Most of what shows up in the headline number is Millicom buying its way to a bigger top line, not the existing business accelerating on its own.
The profit line raises a separate question. Adobe (ADBE) reported a record fiscal Q3 2026 and raised its fiscal 2026 revenue and earnings targets. Revenue rose 13% as reported to $6.76 billion, above the $6.70 billion the company had guided. But the key figure that did not move is the one to hold the quarter against: the fiscal 2026 target for growth in ending annualized recurring revenue, or ARR, still 10.2%.
The fiscal 2026 revenue target moved to $26.576 billion to $26.626 billion from $26.55 billion. The interim CFO sized that at around $50 million at the midpoint, a little less than the $60 million revenue beat in fiscal Q3. The gap is a slight currency headwind in fiscal Q4, and the interim CFO said nothing in the business changed. Non-GAAP earnings per share of $6.13 cleared the $6.08 guide, and the fiscal 2026 non-GAAP EPS target moved to $24.45 to $24.50.
Total ending ARR was $27.5 billion, up 11.2% year over year at the end of fiscal Q3, and the fiscal 2026 year-end growth target for it stayed at 10.2%. Remaining performance obligations, or RPO, grew 8% year over year. One ***** yst called that the first single-digit reading since early fiscal 2023, and down from the prior quarter. The interim CFO tied the RPO figure to the push to acquire new users through the freemium model, and said RPO typically steps up in fiscal Q4 and then stays roughly flat for three quarters.

Management's answer: Adobe has sent a portion of its traffic into the freemium path to acquire users, and will calibrate when to convert them into paying ARR. The CEO said the company was happy to skip pricing actions that might have brought short-term relief but matter less than new user adoption. Creative freemium monthly active users, which include Firefly, Express and the web and mobile versions of Photoshop, crossed 100 million, growing more than 70% year over year.
So far the paying signal is small against the book. AI-first ending ARR passed $650 million, growing more than 150% year over year, which is about 2.4% of the $27.5 billion total. Management says credit consumption is accelerating quarter on quarter across Creative Cloud and the Firefly app, and Acrobat AI ***** istant monthly active users doubled from the prior quarter. The Seattle Seahawks are 1-0, so it's time to start scouting their next opponent.
The Arizona Cardinals shocked the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1 with a 26-14 win in which Mike LaFleur became the franchise's first non-interim head coach to win their first game in charge. The matchup was projected as one of the opening week's most lopsided in favor of Jim Harbaugh and Los Angeles, who were coming off an 11-6 record in 2025. Los Angeles made the playoffs and lost to the eventual AFC champion New England Patriots in the Wild Card round, albeit without either of their starting offensive tackles—Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt—who were both expected to boost the offense upon their return this season. Arizona's defense had other ideas, and became one of the biggest surprises of any unit across Week 1's Sunday slate, while their offense simply looked more talented and outplayed LA with complementary football. That's what the Seahawks will be looking for in Week 2.
The Cardinals defense played with an energy that stifled Justin Herbert and new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, who only held the ball for 51 plays and 22:29. Arizona ran 21 more plays and had the ball for 15:02 more of the game (more than an entire quarter?!) When watching this game, the attitude from Arizona's defense seemed to disregard the stature of its opponent. LaFleur retained defensive coordinator Nick Rallis, who Phoenix-based sports radio host John Gambadoro credits for helping set the temperature.
It's easy to see Rallis' results. The intensity of the defense that showed up on tape is just as evident on paper. His Cardinals defense ranks second to last in blitz rate so far this season, yet they held McDaniel and Herbert to a measly 2-for-8 on third downs and 0-for-3 on fourth downs. Their front seven was far more formidable than the Chargers on the day, producing 17 pressures on 55 snaps while LA could only muster 12 on 75 opportunities. On the flipside, the Cardinals' offensive line has been projected as their downfall this season. The Seahawks have a clear opportunity to establish their presence as a physically dominant team if they kill the Cardinals momentum. This will be the game for elite run blockers like AJ Barner and run stoppers like Uchenna Nwosu to put the new age film community on watch.
Offensive talent is far from the problem in Arizona. Trey McBride is the best tight end in football. They've got two running backs in Jeremiyah Love and Tyler Allgeier who can both be a problem for any team. Marvin Harrison Jr. was a matchup nightmare against the Seahawks last season. In Week 3, he had one of the best battles against Devon Witherspoon and Riq Woolen of any wide receiver all year. The rising Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight prospect suffered a third-round submission loss to top Brazilian contender Jean Silva in the main event of Noche UFC 4 this past weekend (Sat., Sept. 12, 2026) inside Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona (watch highlights).

On September 10, Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE) posted record third-quarter revenue of $6.76 billion, up 13% year over year, and raised its full-year revenue and profit targets. Non-GAAP EPS climbed 15% to $6.13, while GAAP EPS rose 11% to $4.62. Buried inside those headline numbers was a sharper story: AI-first ending ARR topped $650 million, growing more than 150% year over year. The same call brought a leadership change, with Anil S. Chakravarthy set to take over as CEO from Shantanu Narayen on December 1. Investors got a lot to digest in one afternoon.
Adobe's AI tools are no longer just a demo. Firefly ending ARR, which spans the Firefly app and its credit packs, grew 40% quarter over quarter, and the Acrobat AI ******* istant doubled its monthly active users over the same three months. Total monthly active users across Adobe's businesses surpassed 1 billion in the quarter, up more than 20% year over year, and creative premium MAU crossed 100 million, up more than 70%. Business professionals and consumers MAU passed 900 million, up more than 25%. That kind of user growth, concentrated in free and freemium tiers, is what feeds the paid AI upgrades now showing up in ARR.
The company backed that growth with cash. Operating cash flow hit a third-quarter record of $2.52 billion, and Adobe bought back roughly 9.5 million shares during the quarter, leaving $24.55 billion still authorized for repurchases. Management raised its full-year revenue target to a range of $26.58 billion to $26.63 billion and its non-GAAP EPS target to $24.45 to $24.50. On the product side, Adobe struck a deal to acquire Topaz Labs, whose AI enhancement models for image and video work would slot directly into Firefly and Creative Cloud. Firefly ending ARR, which spans the Firefly app and its credit packs, grew 40% quarter over quarter, and the Acrobat AI ******* istant doubled its monthly active users over the same three months. Total monthly active users across Adobe's businesses surpassed 1 billion in the quarter, up more than 20% year over year, and creative premium MAU crossed 100 million, up more than 70%. Business professionals and consumers MAU passed 900 million, up more than 25%. That kind of user growth, concentrated in free and freemium tiers, is what feeds the paid AI upgrades now showing up in ARR.
The company backed that growth with cash. Operating cash flow hit a third-quarter record of $2.52 billion, and Adobe bought back roughly 9.5 million shares during the quarter, leaving $24.55 billion still authorized for repurchases. Management raised its full-year revenue target to a range of $26.58 billion to $26.63 billion and its non-GAAP EPS target to $24.45 to $24.50. On the product side, Adobe struck a deal to acquire Topaz Labs, whose AI enhancement models for image and video work would slot directly into Firefly and Creative Cloud. On September 10, Shoe Station Group (NASDAQ:SHOE) held its first earnings call under its new name, and the numbers told a story of a company still finding its footing. Second quarter net sales fell 7.2% to $284.3 million from $306.4 million a year earlier, with comparable sales down 7.1%. But buried in the report was a sharper signal: August comparable sales improved to a 2.7% decline, a real jump from the second quarter's pace, and management is pointing to store-by-store product changes as the reason why.
Shoe Station's turnaround argument rests on giving up the idea that every store should look the same. Interim CEO Clifton Sifford said the company had been running nearly identical ***** ortments across its stores even though its two banners serve very different customers, and that approach stopped working. The shift already shows up in the numbers. Once the company localized its athletic ***** ortments ahead of back-to-school, adult athletic sales moved from a low single-digit decline in the second quarter to a low single-digit increase in August.

Josh Hokit wasted no time making his case for UFC gold after Tom Aspinall vacated the heavyweight ******* le Monday.
Aspinall relinquished his championship after suffering yet another setback in his ongoing recovery from the eye injuries he sustained against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 last October. The move clears the way for the UFC heavyweight division to resume it's usual activity; Gane defeated Alex Pereira at UFC Freedom 250 in June to claim an interim ******* le, and will likely be formally upgraded to undisputed heavyweight champion in short order.
And Hokit wants the first crack.

Glentoran manager Declan Devine is set to leave the club amid the east Belfast outfit's poor start to the Irish Premiership season.
An agreement over his departure was reached on Monday with the Glens winless in their past three league games and sat eighth in the table with seven points from their opening six fixtures.

Former India cricketer Madan Lal reacted after the Indian women's cricket team did not accept the Asia Cup trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi after winning the ***** le on Sunday.
Harmanpreet Kaur-led India defeated Sri Lanka by 72 runs to win a record-extending eighth Women's Asia Cup ***** le. However, the Indian players did not come out for the post-match presentation ceremony.
Madan, a member of India's 1983 World Cup-winning team, questioned the decision and said India should avoid playing Pakistan if such situations continue.
"Once again same old story. If we are going to behave like this then we should not play Pakistan any trophies. I know its Board decision," Madan said.

Nearly three months after Dustin Poirier was arrested for public drunkenness at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, an extended, 28-minute police body-camera video has been released, showing everything that happened after "The Diamond" was placed in handcuffs.
The initial footage showed an intoxicated and highly agitated Poirier confronting Delta employees before challenging the responding officer to a fight. When the officer pulled out his taser, Poirier eventually backed down and allowed himself to be arrested without a physical altercation.
At first, Poirier appeared to calm down and even complimented the officer for how he handled the volatile situation. However, the former interim UFC Lightweight champion's mood quickly shifted as officers transported him through the airport police station.

On June 21, Poirier was arrested at Atlanta International Airport for public drunkenness after being removed from a plane and causing a scene. In the initial arrest video, Poirier shows aggressive, erratic behavior towards the gate agents and the responding officer who came to intervene. Poirier even attempts to square up with the responding officer, challenging him to a fight before ultimately accepting his arrest peacefully.

Newly released bodycam footage of the incident acquired by Mark Fighting shows the extended sequence of Poirier's arrest, with the former interim UFC lightweight champion again challenging officers to take off the cuffs and go "one-on-one."

The Oklahoma Sooners hit the road for the first time in 2026 on Saturday afternoon. OU heads to Ann Arbor to take on the Michigan Wolverines in the Big House in Week 2.
Michigan went 9-4 last year, but the Wolverines have changed a lot since then. Former head coach Sherrone Moore was fired at the end of the regular season, with Biff Poggi serving as the interim head coach. Michigan hired former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham as the new head man on December 26th.
Whittingham coached Utah from 2005 to 2025, posting a 177-88 record as the head man of the Utes. His teams won three conference ****** les and played in three more conference ****** le games. The Wolverines were looking for a stable presence in the wake of everything that happened with Moore and his predecessor Jim Harbaugh, and they certainly got that in the veteran Whittingham. He'll square off with Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables in a huge game for both programs.
Michigan won at home last week against Western Michigan, 13-12. That victory came in controversial fashion, as the Wolverines were given an extra second on the clock after it appeared the game was over. Michigan used that second to throw a Hail Mary that was caught for the win. After escaping by the slimmest of margins, the Wolverines will certainly play a lot better on Saturday than they did last week.

Whittingham coached Utah from 2005 to 2025, posting a 177-88 record as the head man of the Utes. His teams won three conference ****** les and played in three more conference ****** le games. The Wolverines were looking for a stable presence in the wake of everything that happened with Moore and his predecessor Jim Harbaugh, and they certainly got that in the veteran Whittingham. That victory came in controversial fashion, as the Wolverines were given an extra second on the clock after it appeared the game was over. Michigan used that second to throw a Hail Mary that was caught for the win. After escaping by the slimmest of margins, the Wolverines will certainly play a lot better on Saturday than they did last week.

Detroit is still without a permanent general manager, and training camp opens Sept. 17. Shawn Horcoff is running day-to-day operations on an interim basis, with one significant restriction: he cannot make trades. Chris Ilitch has brought in an outside search firm, and the list of outside names has already been trimmed.
Most of the attention has gone to the candidates coming from other organizations. But three of the most credible Red Wings GM candidates already work in the building, and the Wings need to at least consider looking at them.
Steve Yzerman's tenure in Detroit was less than fruitful; fans and ******* ysts both tried to stay faithful to the so-called "Yzerplan." Yzerman stepped down on July 15 after seven seasons that produced zero playoff berths, and he remains with the organization as a senior adviser to Ilitch rather than having been fired outright. During his tenure there seemed to be no urgency to help the team make it back to the playoffs, even though they were within range the past three seasons.
Now, this is not the complete fault of Yzerman, as he was handcuffed by Chris Ilitch. Reports have come out that Yzerman needed approval from Ilitch on certain deals, more specifically signing Steven Stamkos as a free agent, just to see him put up productive seasons — 69 goals across two campaigns for the Nashville Predators, 27 in his first year and 42 in his second.
Yzerman's highlights of acquisitions for the team are trading for Alex DeBrincat and signing Patrick Kane coming off hip surgery. He also had his fair share of misses, such as Andrew Copp ($5.625 AAV/5 years), J.T. Surging heavyweight Josh Hokit went on tirade on social media after former two-division UFC champion Alex Pereira posted a video campaigning for a rematch with Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight belt.

For the quarter ending 2 August 2026, the company reported lower than expected revenue at $2.4bn, down 4% from $2.53bn in the previous year.
This was driven by an 8% decline in the Americas and China mainland, where revenue grew 4%. International net revenue increased 4%.
Comparable sales declined by 9% overall during the quarter. In the Americas, comparable sales fell by 12%, while international comparable sales recorded a 3% decrease.

UFC 332 goes down on October 3rd from Salt Lake City and is being headlined by a vacant women's flyweight ***** le fight between Natalia Silva and ***** Cong. Not only is that an extremely underwhelming fight to put atop a major numbered card, the UFC had record breaking women's 125 champ Valentina Shevchenko relinquish her ***** le so Silva vs. Cong would be for a belt.
According to Costa, none of this had to be. He was ready to fight at UFC 332 for an interim light heavyweight ***** le, but the promotion refused to do it.
