OpenAI first slotted ads into ChatGPT in February in the U.S. and has slowly rolled out options for advertisers to purchase slots right in the LLM around the globe. On Monday, that option was extended to India, ⁠Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
But rather than the search engine optimization of the mid-2010s yore, which catalyzed a boom-and-bust cycle for digital media platforms like HuffPost and BuzzFeed, these ads are placed directly into ChatGPT's output alongside similar queries. OpenAI's about to find out if the 2020s version is any different.

Luke Evans is paying tribute to Tim Curry by sharing an emotional letter he sent to the late "Clue" actor just weeks before his death at age 80.
Evans made his Broadway debut as cross-dressing mad scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter in "The Rocky Horror Show," for which he received a Tony Award nomination, earlier this year. Curry originated the role when the musical premiered in London in 1973, and later reprised it on the New York stage and in the 1975 film adaptation, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," co-starring Susan Sarandon.
Shortly after Curry's death was announced Wednesday, Evans posted the text of his letter on Instagram, describing the actor as "a bright fierce flame" who was "an inspiration to me and so many more people."

NEW YORK (AP) — Five-time U.S. Open champion Roger Federer returned to Arthur Ashe Stadium on Tuesday night to play one last match for fun against longtime rival and friend Andy Roddick.
The event billed as "An Icon Returns to New York" packed the stands full of fans there to watch the 45-year-old from Switzerland face Roddick — soon to be 44 — in a prime time exhibition. Many wore hats with the distinctive "RF" logo that became commonplace in the sport during Federer's decade and a half of dominance featuring 20 Grand Slam **** les.
"It's great to be back in New York," Federer said. "I have incredible memories, obviously, of this court, of the fans here, of the city."
Federer reminisced about visiting for the first time to play juniors in 1998 and reaching the final. Three years later, his debut on center court was a straight-sets loss to Andre Agassi.

Hayden Panettiere's death continues to spark emotional reactions online. Skincare brand Neutrogena is now facing criticism over a recent statement about the late actress. The brand acknowledged that she felt "unsupported" during a difficult period in her life.
According to HuffPost, Neutrogena issued a public statement days after Panettiere's death, following renewed attention to her past comments about the company.
The actress served as a Neutrogena spokesperson for more than a decade. In a May interview, she said she believed the company distanced itself from her after she publicly discussed her postpartum depression.
In its Instagram statement, Neutrogena said it was "deeply saddened" by Panettiere's passing and acknowledged that it had made her "feel unsupported during a very difficult time."
The company also announced plans for a major investment in a longtime community health partner. The funds will improve access to postpartum depression support. It said more details would be shared once those plans are finalized.

A female journalist who previously worked under CBS News' chief correspondent Matt Gutman is accusing him of making things uncomfortable at work with his "sexualized" remarks, according to a lawsuit filed against ABC News and obtained by People and Variety.
Samira Said, who worked as a field producer at ABC News' Los Angeles bureau from 2021 to 2025, filed the complaint in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday. In the suit, she alleges wrongful termination by ABC after being denied medical leave and accommodations for her medical conditions on several occasions.

It may have taken decades, but Heather Locklear and Lorenzo Lamas have finally fallen into one another's arms. Sadly, love doesn't pay the bills, which is something Lamas, who rose to fame starring in nine seasons of "Falcon Crest" and five seasons of "Renegade," needed to learn the hard way. Lamas found himself in a financial pickle when the roles started to dry up, and with added divorce costs and Lamas' many ex-wives who came calling for their alimony, he was out $6,123 a month. On top of that was the cost of raising six children, and it didn't help that the actor had expensive habits. When he filed for bankruptcy in 2004, Lamas was over $600,000 in debt, with items like his Harley-Davidson, Hummer, and private plane hanging over his head.
Lamas filed for bankruptcy a second time in 2014. Where the actor had over $400,000 in ***** ets in '04, in the '14 listing, he was down to just $9,100, with only $430 in the bank. The good news was that his debt had been cut in half. The bad news was that even half the debt was still over $300,000. The "Bold and the Beautiful" star opened up on "Oprah: Where Are They Now" (via HuffPost), saying, "My greatest regret would be that I took my success for granted, because it was given to me at such a young age. I thought my acting career was going to just last forever ..." But the star wasn't going to sit around and wait to see what would happen. He took responsibility and found a way out of the hole he had dug.

Being a man with many talents, Lamas landed a pretty cool job, becoming a helicopter pilot touring people around Los Angeles and New York, but the change in profession wasn't easy for him, explaining, "It was a very difficult lesson to learn at 40 years old." NEW YORK, June 23 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump will be on hand to present the World Cup final trophy on July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium, FIFA president Gianni Infantino said on Tuesday.
The global soccer boss has fostered an increasingly chummy relationship with the U.S. president and in December awarded him the inaugural edition of his invented FIFA Peace Prize, as Trump sought out sport’s mega-watt spotlight.
“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino said on the “Fox and Friends” television programme.

Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday mocked President Donald Trump for a $14 million Reflecting Pool makeover that ultimately didn't change much of anything.
"Not even a week later, it's already completely green," Kimmel said as he showed footage of the pool, which Trump ordered painted "American flag blue," now green with algae.
"Experts are saying that when Trump had it painted dark blue, he made the problem worse, because the darker color retains more heat and algae thrives in warmer water," Kimmel pointed out.
