Dakota Johnson's "Saturday Night Live" monologue was interrupted this week by the actress' "literal therapist," Taylor Swift, who bonded with the host over their shared experiences dating musicians who "don't wear shoes" and happen to be "terrible in bed."
Johnson kicked off her "SNL" run this week with a joke about her failed 2024 superhero movie "Madame Web," which she remarked she is still promoting because "it hasn't made any money yet." Afterward, the actress reflected on the other turns her life has taken since she last hosted "SNL."
"I went through two very public, very lame breakups with two very awesome musicians. Looking for a third," Johnson joked, referencing her splits from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and Role Model singer-songwriter Tucker Pillsbury. While she vowed not to talk anymore about her personal life, Johnson's monologue was derailed again after she noted that her new movie, "Verity," is a psychosexual erotic thriller.
"So is dating musicians. Some of them don't wear shoes. Some of them are terrible in bed. But all of them are in my DMs," Johnson said. "Some people leave concerts with merch, and I leave concerts with a two-and-a-half year relationship." Thankfully, Johnson said she has "good friends" who do not judge her for her dating choices.
Enter: Swift, whom Johnson called her "literal therapist," much to the former's discomfort. "I'm not your therapist, actually. You just show up once a week at my house with an empty bottle of wine and ask if I want some," Swift said.

In the entertainment world, Rick Ross may be a household name, but a Miami judge made it clear that his celebrity status would not earn him special treatment in court.
American rapper, songwriter and music executive Rick Ross, whose legal name is William Roberts II, appeared before Judge Mindy Glazer following his arrest on battery charges in Miami. During the hearing, Ross' attorney, Bradley ******* nstein, reportedly asked for the rapper's release to be expedited because of his high-profile status.
Glazer did not appear persuaded by the argument. The judge stated that she did not know who Rick Ross was and emphasized that he would be treated fairly, just like everyone else appearing in her courtroom.

On September 9, 2026, Reuters reported that AI music startup Suno launched a new suite of models, including its flagship v6 and exploratory v6-Wild, built in partnership with Warner Music Group Corp. (NASDAQ:WMG) and BMG. It lets users make new music inspired by licensed recordings from participating artists. The launch follows Warner Music's copyright lawsuit settlement with Suno in November 2025, under which artists and songwriters can opt in to have their names, voices, and compositions used in AI-generated music in exchange for compensation.
Warner Music Group Corp. (NASDAQ:WMG) can turn the Suno litigation dispute into a new licensing revenue opportunity. Suno has now launched its v6 models in partnership with Warner Music and BMG. It allows users to make music inspired by licensed works from participating artists. Warner previously sued Suno over copyright issues before reaching a licensing agreement. This gives the label a direct path to monetize AI-generated music rather than relying solely on litigation. The deal could create a new revenue stream as consumers increasingly adopt AI music tools.
Warner enters the AI-music market from a position of financial strength. The firm reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $5.44 billion, up 9% year over year. Adjusted OIBDA increased 16% to $433 million, and its adjusted OIBDA margin expanded to 23.2%. Warner also said it had met or exceeded its financial targets for five consecutive quarters. That basic growth gives the company greater flexibility to invest in AI initiatives while using licensing agreements to add another potential growth driver to its existing streaming and publishing businesses.
Warner could help establish a more sustainable commercial model for AI-generated music. Suno said future products will include opt-in experiences that allow individual artists to participate and receive payment when users generate music around them. So Warner has an opportunity to help shape licensing and compensation practices as Spotify and other platforms develop their own AI-music products. If the industry increasingly adopts licensed models, Warner's large catalog and relationships with artists could solidify its negotiating position and create recurring AI-related revenue.
Suno's new licensing model does not eliminate the overall legal risks surrounding AI music. Warner Music Group Corp. (NASDAQ:WMG) has reached an agreement with Suno, but other copyright owners are challenging the firm's technology. Independent publisher Round Hill sued Suno in August, alleging that the company used copyrighted songs to train its AI system. Suno also faces separate litigation from Universal Music Group and Sony Music. Hence, lawsuits could increase legal costs and create uncertainty over the licensing framework that Warner hopes to monetize.

The fate of Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour is suddenly uncertain after all of the British singer's remaining opening acts quit in solidarity with the rapper Macklemore, who was dropped from the remaining North American dates over pro-Palestinian comments.
Hours after Sheeran released a statement saying it was the promoter's decision to remove Macklemore from the tour and not his, the rest of his supporting acts — Irish singer Aaron Rowe, Danish pop band Lukas Graham and songwriter Finneas — as well as Sheeran's house band, Beoga, announced that they were pulling out in protest.
"Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed," Finneas, the brother of Billie Eilish, wrote in a note posted to Instagram. "I have decided to withdraw from my upcoming tour dates with Ed Sheeran. I stand with Palestine and its people."
The Irish artists cited their country's history of oppression in their decisions to drop out.
"I don't take the decision lightly. Ed has been a friend to me and has changed my life, I could never thank him enough for this," Rowe wrote in his own Instagram post. "But as Irish people we know all too well about genocide, forced famine and violent occupation. I cannot stand by and allow billionaires to use their position of power to silence the rightful voices of those who speak up against Israeli genocide and who highlight the savage murder of children."

Dolly Parton and Tennessee go hand in hand. Dollywood already draws tourists who love her music. But the state has officially decided to honor her by changing the name of Nashville International Airport so every traveler will be familiar with her name.
TMZ reported that the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority voted unanimously on Sept. 11 to proceed with the name change. Airport officials are hoping to work with the country legend's estate on potential merchandise and licensing revenue.
The "Jolene" songwriter created another tourist hotspot before her death. Dolly Parton's Songwriter Hotel and museum opens in October 2026. The museum covers every decade of her life. Of course, there is a music venue on a different floor. Then there is a separate lounge for more live music called "Joelene's" and a cafe.

Bebe Rexha sent Drake a shot. And he didn't respond.
Grammy-nominated singer revealed in a new episode of Angie Martinez's IRL podcast how she tried to hook up with the rapper in the wake of his popular 20v1 speed-dating live stream last month, but remained unanswered.
"I'm your dream girl, I'm Albanian, I got a fat a**, I got my own thing going on, and I don't even think he saw it or he saw it and just ignored it," Rexha said.
In this episode, released on September 10th, she shared details of her path from NYC songwriter to recording artist in Los Angeles, and her collaboration with country icon Dolly Parton on their duet "Seasons."
The singer thinks Drake might have been spoiled too much by his ex-girlfriends to be interested in someone else. As is known, the rapper had a romance with Rihanna, whose famous hits included such duets with Drake as "What's My Name?" and "Work."

Payton Tolle is one of the best stories of the 2026 season. A thoughtful prospect writer brought him to my attention early last year, knowing my affinity for a good four-seamer, a thick 'stache and a mien that would be equally at home on a small fishing boat off the coast of Bangor in 1890 as he is on a pitching mound. Tolle wears his emotions openly across his face and through his body; the joy, the devastation, the playfulness. To be pitching at the level that he is requires skill and effort, but part of Tolle's charm is the authenticity woven within all that baseball work. Maybe this won't resonate to anyone else, but there are a lot of guys who present as baseball players first and humans as a secondary classification. Tolle is distinctly a human playing baseball, and it's one of the highest compliments I can pay (see also: Gutierrez, Franklin or Wilhelmsen, Tom, among others).
It came as little surprise, then, when Tolle cited the Turnpike Troubadors as one of his favorite musical acts. There's the Oklahoma connection, of course, with both hailing from the Sooner State, but that same authenticity runs through every song Turnpike performs. And that's courtesy of Evan Felker, the band's lead singer and one of the finest songwriters of the generation.
No one here needs to read any more about the Seattle Mariners today. Honestly, we're all probably good for the rest of the year on consumption of Mariners content, but regardless of their record this is still a community, and community means continuing showing up for one another. In gratitude for you all, I offer a selection of some of my favorite Turnpike Troubadors lyrics and songs. I hope that in the ragged place baseball usually occupies, maybe they'll prompt that thrum of recognition in your chest that only good art can inspire.
"Come back from the dark somehow
Finally living in the here and now
No sign of a thundercloud following you
Don't take it personal, the world don't turn around you
Hold on to the moment like it's heaven passing through" – Heaven Passing Through

It's reasonable to **** ume that people only really talk about Taylor Swift's outfits because she's Taylor Swift. But even beyond the hype, the Grammy winner has proven time and again that she possesses an impeccable fashion sense. The "Shake It Off" hitmaker knows how to cleverly build each public appearance to reward a closer look, whether it's the best outfits Swift has worn in every era of her career or a casual 2026 street style moment during which Swift perfectly nailed the '70s nostalgia look with only two items of clothing. On May 15, 2026, she and her then-fiancé Travis Kelce were photographed enjoying a night out on the town in Manhattan. The singer-songwriter was wearing some of the most expensive jewelry out there, but her dreamy ensemble was what stole the show.
Aeon/Getty
Understandably, what everybody noticed first was the dress — a gorgeous, cream-colored midi scattered with faded blue olive sprigs. Paired with beige, strappy leather sandals, the "I Knew You Were Trouble" hitmaker looked like she'd walked straight out of an Emily Brontë or Jane Austen novel. Swift's lipstick, the one colorful stroke in an otherwise neutral palette, is definitely worth a closer look, too. The pop star opted for a rosy shade, though not so bright as to look jarring against the rest of the outfit, which consisted mostly of muted florals. It complemented everything seamlessly, hammering home that prairie vibe she was going for. Being one of her last date-night looks as a bride-to-be before the July 3 ceremony, it offered yet another look into why Swift's story-rich aesthetic is one of a kind, and why we keep chasing the details well after the moment has passed.

Dolly Parton lived in and owned several homes between Tennessee and California.
Her primary residence was the Willow Lake Plantation in Brentwood, TN, built by her uncle, brothers, and husband in the 1970s.
The country music icon died on August 25, 2026, following a brief battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Dean, who passed in March 2025.
No matter where she lived, Dolly Parton had a way of making any place feel like a home. The late singer-songwriter began her life in a one-bedroom log cabin with her parents and 11 siblings. By the time she died, on August 25, age 80, she'd built up a real estate portfolio stretching from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean.
There was her starter home in Antioch, Tennessee and the Nashville-adjacent Brentwood retreat where she and husband Carl Dean spent most of their time together before his death in March 2025. Then there were her California getaways, which ranged from a cabin in the rustic mountain town of Idyllwild to a posh West Hollywood pad and a quirky cottage in the Danish-inspired city of Solvang.

To nine-year-old Zenaida, it wasn't Dolly Parton's storied country music career that made her so great.
It's the entertainment icon's beloved Imagination Library book donation program that has had the biggest impact on the young girl's life.
"These are the first books I learned how to read," Zenaida told AFP late Wednesday, flipping through Parton's "Coat of Many Colors" children's book at a makeshift memorial in the singer-songwriter's hometown at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains.
Parton's extraordinarily successful book project was born of personal anguish: her own father grew up illiterate in rural Tennessee.
But thanks to the Imagination Library, millions of children like Zenaida in the United States and around the world have received a literacy boost from Parton herself: books that arrive by mail, for free, from birth until age five.

Not just a singer-songwriter, the businesswoman Dolly Parton, who died earlier this week, had a slew of projects in the pipeline, including a biopic, documentary, avatar show, museum, travel stop for truckers, coffee brand and dog treats.
"Dolly worked up until the day she died. She loved seeing her dreams come to life and loved knowing her work brought people joy," her longtime manager Danny Nozell told US media including Hollywood Reporter.
"If you see unreleased music, products, books, experiences and campaigns launched through official Dolly Parton channels, you can have confidence in knowing that she placed her personal stamp on it," he added.
Parton died peacefully in hospital in Nashville on 25 August after a "brief battle with cancer", after being admitted four days before her death with kidney and autoimmune issues.

Dolly Parton, the songwriter and singer from Locust Ridge, Tennessee, died Tuesday, Aug. 25. Her death sparked a tsunami of support and reflection from the media, her family and friends, colleagues, and her fans.
When someone lives a life as loudly and publicly as Parton did for 80 years, it's of little surprise that that person will be written about for days, weeks, and years to come after their death. But one article about Parton from The Washington Post is getting a lot of attention — and it's because its author missed a crucial detail of the singer's life.
"Dolly Parton's lack of children demonstrated that the world could in fact love a woman who wasn't a mother," the Post wrote on X — a statement that's already fairly outrageous. The message continued, "But more importantly, she was proof that a person could be an advocate for children while personally choosing against parenting."
In her column, Ashley Fetters Maloy wrote that she loves Parton "for the same reasons everyone loves Dolly Parton." For Maloy, that list includes that her "songs are undeniably powerful, her joy infectious, her hair magnificent" and her "quietly subversive jokes about her ***** and her fashion sense will never not be funny, or poignant."
(I feel compelled to note here that people loved Parton for many, many more reasons — for example, those of us who also grew up in small Southern towns and who have been on the receiving end of a whole lot of judgement for that have often been buoyed by Parton's take-no-prisoners approach to being true to who she was, where she was from, and what that meant culturally over the decades.)

Dolly Parton opened up to PEOPLE in 2020 about life lessons spanning her marriage, tattoos and knowing her own worth
Parton added that she was in "awe" of young talents like her goddaughter Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift
The country icon died on Aug. 25, 2026
In 2020, Dolly Parton opened up to PEOPLE about her marriage, music, and even her tattoos, sharing life lessons along the way. This interview was republished following her death at 80 years old following a "brief battle with cancer" on Aug. 25.
There was a moment in Dolly Parton's career when she understood what her life was worth, because she finally understood what her words—each one shaped by her fabled Smoky Mountains upbringing—were worth. At 74, Parton distinctly remembers the day in 1992 she heard Whitney Houston's version of her song "I Will Always Love You" on the radio. "It was a worldwide thing. It was in a movie; it was No. 1. I thought, 'Wow. I wrote that little song.' That's when I felt my worth as a songwriter. I thought, 'This is my gift, and I'm going to do the best I can with it.'"

President Trump's daughter Ivanka is being hammered after quoting Dolly Parton in a heartfelt social media tribute.
Parton's death at 80 was announced on Tuesday. In a statement to People, her representatives said the "9 to 5″ singer died following a "brief battle with cancer," but did not disclose the type.
Ivanka, 44, joined the outpouring of love for Parton and her legacy online. She said they had never met, but hailed her as a "peerless singer, incredible songwriter, gifted comic actress, tireless philanthropist, accomplished businesswoman and true original."
However, a particular quote from Parton that Ivanka cited, "I don't criticize and condemn; I love and accept," created a backlash on her social media.
The businesswoman said the open-hearted quote had "resonated within me since I first heard it," and noted she had also shared the "piece of wisdom" from Parton when she appeared on Lex Fridman's podcast in 2024.
