Others have written about the incident; it makes sense for us to address it here. Michael, who has been part of the show for the past two years, became overheated during the two-hour program. He hadn't had anything to eat or drink before the show began at 7:00 a.m. ET on Peacock, NBCSN, and SiriusXM 85. And, as he later told me, his studio is very warm.
It happened in the final 30 minutes of the program. Earlier in the show, Michael's audio in his earpiece had cut out, and I noticed him bending over to try to get it working again.
As he became ill, I was looking at the camera, which sits above the monitor that returns the live feed of the show. I noticed Michael moving. I thought that he had again lost his audio. When he slumped to the right and fell out of the view of the screen, I knew something was wrong.

Geno Auriemma says the increasingly heated debate over transgender athletes in the WNBA is focused on an eligibility situation the league is not currently facing.
The UConn women's basketball coach addressed the controversy in an interview with TMZ Sports published Aug. 14, arguing that people are treating a hypothetical eligibility question as though it is already affecting WNBA competition.
"Why are we making a big issue over an issue that doesn't exist?" Auriemma asked. He noted that he was unaware of any transgender women currently playing in the league or an immediate case requiring the WNBA to decide whether a particular player is eligible.
An anti-hate task force of team presidents and general managers met Aug. 12 and discussed transgender athletes along with online abuse directed at players, but the meeting produced no new eligibility rules.
Auriemma acknowledged that people are entitled to different opinions about transgender participation in women's sports. His objection was to the amount of attention being devoted to a question he does not see as an immediate WNBA problem.

But behind those two polarizing QBs are a pair of very fascinating players for different reasons. Dillon Gabriel was a 2025 third-round pick, while Taylen Green is a project taken on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft. One of these QBs might not make the team.
Bleacher Report's Moe Moton proposed one solution, as he's urging the Browns to release Gabriel this summer, not trade him, in a move that would be totally horrendous.
"Dillon Gabriel is clearly the No. 3 quarterback," Moton writes. "... Teams may be willing to trade a late-round draft pick for him, but if not, he should be a prime cut candidate."

The 2028 recruiting cycle is heating up, and the Oregon Ducks were name-dropped in another notable race that has heated up this summer.
Four-star offensive tackle Aden Owolabi told Rivals (subscription required) that the Ducks are an early leader in the race, alongside USC and Oklahoma. Owolabi, a 6-6 lineman from Danville, California, is ranked as the No. 52 overall recruit in the 2028 class, according to 247 Sports.
Owolabi didn't have any offers earlier in the spring, but his recruitment amped up quickly this summer. Oregon hosted Owolabi for a camp and extended him an offer in June. The Ducks are in line to host Owolabi for a visit in the fall for one of their home games.
Texas A&M offered the big offensive tackle on Sunday, continuing Owolabi's rise in the national recruiting landscape. With multiple Big Ten and SEC schools already in pursuit, Oregon's early interest could be a huge benefit in the program's attempt to keep him out west.
Oregon has had no issue pulling in elite offensive linemen on the recruiting trail under A'lique Terry's leadership, and the Ducks' approach this season with several young linemen getting into the rotation could attract more of the nation's top talent to Eugene. The Ducks currently don't have anyone committed in the 2028 class, but do have four offensive linemen committed in the 2027 class.

It all made for one competitive and, at times, heated joint practice for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Jets on Tuesday.
The first of four scuffles started, according to Bucs right tackle Luke Goedeke, when Jets rookie edge rusher David Bailey called him out during 1-on-1 drills because he wanted to go up against him.
"And lost," Goedeke said of Bailey.
The two lined up against each other several times and the No. 2 overall draft pick appeared to mostly get the better of the veteran O-lineman. They stalemated on one and Bailey appeared to pat Goedeke on the helmet. It set off a fracas that included Goedeke and Bailey taking swings at each other and players from both sides jumping in.

NEW DELHI: Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has revisited a little-known heated exchange with Sri Lanka great ****** ar Sangakkara during the 2005 Test in Delhi, revealing how an argument over a changed ball escalated into personal sledging before the two eventually put the incident behind them and became friends.

Pathan was at the centre of a memorable India innings at the Feroz Shah Kotla, scoring 93 after being sent up the order. But alongside his attacking knock, which included two sixes off Muttiah Muralitharan, came a confrontation with Sangakkara that the former India all-rounder remembered years later.

Speaking on JioHotstar's 'Cheeky Singles' programme, Pathan explained that the tension had its roots in the Sri Lankan team's frustration over the ball used during their innings.
"There was a Test match in Delhi. I opened and made 93. After the first innings, when we went to bowl, the box of ****** had changed, or something like that happened, and the Sri Lankan players were not happy. Sangakkara was the most vocal of all. Then, when I went to bat, I had zero idea what had happened; I was asked to open. I hit Muralitharan for two sixes," Pathan said.

The former India all-rounder said Sangakkara became increasingly frustrated as Pathan began taking the attack to Sri Lanka.

"If he is getting hit for sixes with the new ball, it means you have derailed the opposition's planning a bit. Suddenly, Sangakkara started saying, 'You guys cheat, your parents teach you all this and blah blah.' He went personal, and I also answered back. He started it," he added.

The exchange, according to Pathan, went beyond the usual competitive sledging of a Test match, with the argument becoming personal.

The episode could easily have left a lasting bitterness between the two cricketers. Instead, their paths crossed again away from international cricket, when both became part of the Kings XI Punjab setup in the IPL.
Pathan admitted that the situation was awkward when he realised he would be sharing a dressing room with Sangakkara.

"After the auction, I saw I would be playing with Sangakkara at Punjab. Now I was eating with his family, and I did not know what to do. I went and told him sorry. He also apologised, and then we became good friends. Emotions are high, and you always make mistakes. It matters how maturely you handle things," he remembered.

The incident underlined how quickly emotions can boil over in cricket, particularly when a match is finely balanced and players are trying to unsettle one another. Pathan's account shows that while words exchanged in the heat of competition can cross a line, they do not necessarily have to define the relationship between two players.

BALTIMORE — Toward the end of the Baltimore Ravens' practice Sunday, I reached for my phone to type another note and discovered it had overheated.
The heat index had climbed into the 90s, and the device had spent more than two hours baking under the late-morning sun. My scorching work phone tapped out before the Ravens did.
Players pushed through more than 100 snaps in pads during the longest and most intense practice of training camp. Sunday's session was scheduled to last 2 1/2 hours but wrapped after 2 hours, 7 minutes. The first-team offense and defense operated primarily at "thud" pace, making contact without tackling to the ground, while the reserves did full tackling.
Two weeks into camp, the Ravens are beginning to resemble the team first-year coach Jesse Minter hoped to build when he was hired this offseason.

Christopher Lambert canceled his planned return to Steel City Con after collapsing while meeting fans at the Pennsylvania convention one day earlier.
The 69-year-old Highlander star became ill while signing autographs at the Monroeville Convention Center outside Pittsburgh on August 8. A witness told TMZ that Lambert suddenly collapsed before he was transported from the convention by ambulance.
His representative later said Lambert was "perfectly OK" and resting at his hotel, attributing the episode to low blood sugar after the actor had slept poorly and eaten very little. Steel City Con separately said he had become overheated and dehydrated.
Organizers initially announced that Lambert would return on August 9 for photo opportunities and a panel. That plan changed shortly before his scheduled arrival, when the convention said he was still not feeling well and needed additional rest.
Lambert was signing autographs during the second day of Steel City Con when he became ill. According to TMZ, a witness said the actor suddenly collapsed and was then taken from the convention hall by ambulance.

Ashleigh Gardner's position as Australia's vice-captain has come under renewed scrutiny after her estranged wife, Monica Wright, called for the star all-rounder to be removed from the leadership role and questioned Cricket Australia's response to allegations surrounding their marriage.

In an exclusive interview with Code Sports, Wright criticised the governing body's silence after she publicly accused Gardner of having an affair with Australia teammate Georgia Voll.

Wright argued that Gardner's position of leadership should carry additional responsibility, particularly given her allegation of a power imbalance between Gardner and Voll.

"I think if you're privileged enough to represent your country and be seen as a role model, there's a responsibility to hold yourself to a high moral standard," Wright told Code Sports.

She also questioned why Cricket Australia had not publicly addressed the matter.

"What I can't understand is why Cricket Australia hasn't said anything publicly," she said.

Wright's comments come after she publicly identified Voll in an Instagram post in July, writing: "This is who my wife cheated on me with." Gardner and Wright have since separated and removed photographs of each other from their social media accounts.

Neither Gardner nor Voll has publicly responded to Wright's allegations. Cricket Australia has also not publicly commented on the specific allegations.
Wright believes the allegations should have consequences for Gardner's position within Australian cricket.

"You can't have an affair with a junior member of staff, especially when there's a clear power imbalance, and then remain in a position of leadership," she told Code Sports. "Captains are expected to set the standard, and that kind of conduct falls well short of it."

Wright's comments put the focus not only on Gardner's personal situation but also on how Cricket Australia handles relationships within its professional environment.

Code Sports reported that Cricket Australia has maintained that it regards the situation as a private matter while enforcing its workplace policies.

The controversy has not, however, affected Gardner's standing with the Sydney Sixers, whom she captains in the Women's Big Bash League.

Sixers general manager Rachael Haynes said the club remained supportive of Gardner and confirmed that it intended to recommend that she continue as captain.

"She's a well-respected player within our program, an important player for us," Haynes said.

Asked directly whether Gardner would remain Sixers captain, Haynes replied: "Absolutely."

Angel Genao delivered an MLB debut to remember for the Cleveland Guardians Wednesday night.
Cleveland's top-rated prospect, Genao was called up for his first MLB game at home against the New York Mets. He logged four straight hits to start his MLB career and knocked in a go-ahead RBI in the seventh inning. He also committed two errors on the same play.
Unfortunately for the Guardians, the lead from his go-ahead knock didn't stand, and the Mets went on to a 6-5 win in extra innings. Genao made a strong first impression regardless of the outcome of the game.
Genao, a shortstop, joined the Guardians as the 39th-ranked prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline. Cleveland called him up in the midst of a heated playoff race and entered Wednesday night in control of the final wild-card spot in the American League.
In his first big-league at-bat, Genao hit a single to right field in the bottom of the third inning. In his second, he hit a leadoff single in the fifth inning and eventually came around to score as the Guardians tied the game at 3-3.

After securing a dominant 73-59 win over the Orlando Pirates in the first round of the playoffs last weekend, the top-seeded Green Bay Blizzard will be back on their home turf, looking to dispatch the No. 3 Tulsa Oilers en route to the championship game. Tulsa, meanwhile, upset the No. 2 Jacksonville Sharks last Saturday in a close one, 31-28.
In their only matchup during the regular season, the Blizzard beat the Oilers 41-35 on May 16 — so these teams are not the most familiar with each other. Both teams boast members of the newly announced All-Rookie Team — RB Kairee Robinson (Green Bay) and DB Justin Harrington (Tulsa).

Zay Flowers, the fourth-year man out of Boston College, has consistently gotten better each season. With back-to-back seasons of at least 1,000 receiving yards, Flowers now looks to increase his touchdown output. With an aging Derrick Henry possibly forcing Baltimore to become a more pass-heavy team, Flowers can easily propel himself into a double-digit touchdown season.
On Aug. 4, Flowers agreed to a four-year, $140 million contract extension. It takes a lot of confidence for Baltimore to commit that kind of money, clearly solidifying Flowers as their primary receiver.
While he may not win a fantasy league, he is easily a top WR1 contender.

Max Verstappen's future has been the topic of heated conversation for well over 18 months now, dating back to his last Formula 1 world championship triumph in 2024.
The four-time world champion, the outstanding driver of his generation, officially has a £50m-a-year contract with Red Bull until the end of the 2028 season.
However, the Dutchman is motivated by competitiveness. Red Bull have been unable to provide him with a top-tier car in the last two seasons, as illustrated by their constructors' finishing spot: third last year and, at the 2026 summer break, fourth this year. As such, Verstappen is being linked with a move away.

A very real competition is unfolding at the linebacker position for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
While the thought throughout the offseason was that Ventrell Miller would step into the starting role next to Foye Oluokun, Branson Combs has entered the mix and is pushing for those snaps.
"That's a heated competition in that room," said defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile. "It's about stacking days and continuing to produce. But the guys in there are in a good competition and they're all playing hard."
Each linebacker brings a different element to the Jaguars' defense. John Shipley of Jaguars on SI notes the plays in the run game that Miller has made throughout camp, while Combs has stood out as a coverage defender.
"I think Combs has a narrow lead due to his coverage ability," wrote Shipley, "but it certainly feels like the Jaguars are going to let this battle go down to the wire. .. "Right now, it certainly feels like it is too close to call."

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart showed the passion that has made him one of the team's most intriguing young players, but his emotions got the better of him during Tuesday's training camp practice.
Following a touchdown run in a red-zone drill, Dart celebrated by throwing the football at the helmet of cornerback Greg Newsome. The ball struck Newsome before bouncing away, immediately drawing the attention of several defensive players, who surrounded the rookie quarterback as tensions briefly flared.
While no punches were thrown, the exchange was enough for head coach Jim Harbaugh to step in with an immediate teaching moment.
Rather than simply moving on to the next play, Harbaugh treated Dart's celebration as if it had occurred during a regular-season game. He **** sed the offense a simulated 15-yard taunting penalty, forcing kicker Ben Sauls to attempt a much more difficult 48-yard extra point instead of a routine kick.
