We asked for your views on the potential sale of Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones to Inter Milan.
Here are some of your comments:
John: It's about time. I hope Curtis Jones finds another level abroad. He was always just short of a first-choice player.
Dave: I don't like this business of selling Jones at all. I wish Curtis all the best but such a shame to be losing a very talented local player from the team. I felt he always had the ability to deserve more game time. I guess financial regulations mean it's a 'pure profit' sale, so I understand we may need to offset, but I've never liked that 'pure profit' aspect either, as it encourages sales of home-grown and club-trained players. Similar to what happened with Jarell Quansah, and I think that was a mistake...

Liverpool's worst period of transfer business will be sealed should a £52m+ deal go through. Now we just wait.
Liverpool did something crazy after winning the Premier League in 2025. They decided to overhaul the squad at great expense, moving players on and bringing several in.
The incomings would cost over £400m all-in, offset by around £200m in outgoings. And there were many, many outgoings.
In hindsight, though, those outgoings were terrible. Or at least, most of them were. It's something now underlined by a potential £52m+ deal for Jarell Quansah, with ***** nal lining up a move before the end of the window (Sky Sports).
Now, the actual value of that potential deal hasn't been confirmed, primarily because Bayer Leverkusen don't wish to sell. ***** nal want to convince them otherwise, though, and plan to offer a large amount.

Manchester City were left with plenty to reflect on after a damaging 3-0 defeat to ******* nal, a result shaped by goals from Riccardo Calafiori, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard. According to Telegraph, the post-match message from both camps was clear, ******* nal look sharp and City know standards were missed.
Rúben Dias did not dress it up, admitting the City performance was "not good enough" after ******* nal capitalised in key moments and controlled the contest with authority. For supporters of Enzo Maresca's side, that line will land heavily because it matched what unfolded on the pitch, with ******* nal quicker to duels, cleaner in possession and more decisive in both boxes.
Arsenal's display was widely admired and Calafiori's own verdict summed up the confidence around Mikel Arteta's team, describing the victory as "close to perfection". That felt fair. ******* nal played with tempo, aggression and structure, producing the type of performance that suggests they are gearing up for another serious challenge at the top end of the Premier League.
Arteta was equally buoyant afterwards. "We talked about the desire that we have to start the season, and to show ourselves how much we want it," Arteta said. "I certainly saw a lot of positive things there against a top opponent."
Beyond the result, ******* nal's transfer planning remains active. The report states they want further business completed before the end of the month, with a right-sided defender a priority after injuries to Jurriën Timber and William Saliba. Ezri Konsa of Aston Villa and Bayer Leverkusen's Jarell Quansah are among the names under consideration.

Arsenal have been linked with moves for players such as Jarell Quansah and Ezri Konsa this window as the Gunners look to sign a centre-back with William Saliba expected to miss the start of the season.
The Frenchman is set to spend some time recovering from a long-term back problem that has bothered him over the last few months. It made him miss France's final game at the 2026 World Cup, and it was during that competition that the defender aggravated the problem.
Arsenal still consider him one of their top players, and the Gunners are happy to have him in their squad, but his absence weakens them, and they could look to sign a replacement.
However, Martin Keown is not convinced that they need to sign someone new and has identified players who could step up. The Gunners have some very good players in their squad, and Keown believes a replacement for Saliba could be among them.
"Marli Salmon looked really good in the friendly game against Como; he's progressing nicely," Keown exclusively told Football London.

Liverpool have no plans to bring Jarell Quansah back to Anfield despite facing a defensive injury crisis ahead of the new Premier League season, talkSPORT reports.
Liverpool have an option to re-sign the 23-year-old defender from Bayer Leverkusen through a £70 million buyback clause, but they've decided against pursuing the deal.
Interestingly, this comes at a time when Liverpool are dealing with several defensive concerns.
Liverpool stalwart Joe Gomez is expected to miss the start of the season after sustaining an injury in the Reds' 4-2 victory over Sunderland in their pre-season curtain-raiser.
Highly rated youngsters Jeremy Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni are both still working their way back to full fitness after lengthy injury setbacks.

From the outside, Liverpool's failure to seal a move for Marc Guehi last summer looks even more interesting now.
They have a buyback clause with Jarell Quansah, who left for Bayer Leverkusen for £35m last July, but there are no current plans for Quansah to return.
Sources stress that if Liverpool bring in Bradley Barcola, who Paris St-Germain value in excess of £100m, then there will be limitations to what more they can do in the market.
Deals for Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz have cost a combined £94.5m.
Without any major outgoings from Andoni Iraola's squad, there is an understanding that this summer will not be like last summer, when a club record £450m was spent.

England face Argentina at Atlanta Stadium on Wednesday evening in the World Cup semi-finals, one win from their first World Cup final appearance since 1966.
Thomas Tuchel's side beat Norway 2–1 after extra time in Miami on Saturday, Bellingham equalising just before half-time before completing his brace in the third minute of extra time to send England into only their fourth World Cup semi-final. The reigning world champions are the last obstacle between England and Sunday's final against European champions Spain, to whom they lost in the 2024 final.
Jarell Quansah serves the second and final match of his two-game suspension for the red card received against Mexico. Jordan Henderson remains out for the tournament with a broken wrist. Otherwise, Tuchel has a fully fit squad available, as he confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
Declan Rice has recovered from the stomach illness that restricted him to 45 minutes against Norway and is confirmed to start. He trained fully on Monday in Kansas City — his first full session since the quarter-final.
Reece James returned from a hamstring injury as a substitute in Miami and is expected to start at right back, with Tuchel satisfied with his recovery. Ezri Konsa continues at centre-back alongside John Stones, with Nico O'Reilly at left back.

England coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed Tuesday that Declan Rice is fit to start in the World Cup semi-final against reigning champions Argentina.
"Everyone is fit to start and everyone was in training except for Jarell (Quansah) who is suspended and Jordan Henderson," Tuchel told reporters in Atlanta on the eve of Wednesday's showdown.
Henderson is out after breaking his arm in a freak accident at the end of England's win over co-hosts Mexico in the last 16. Rice has been struggling with illness and came off at half-time in the quarter-final victory over Norway.
"Rice is ready to start and as well recovered as possible," said Tuchel, who was excited by the prospect of seeing England renew their long-standing rivalry with Argentina.
"It is a big rivalry, two big football nations, everyone who loves football and follows the World Cup knows about this and about what it brings," said the German.

Jordan Henderson and Jarell Quansah are set to be the only players unavailable for England in their World Cup semi-final against Argentina.
Henderson is still recovering from surgery on the broken arm he suffered while celebrating the win over Mexico in the last 16, while defender Quansah is suspended following his red card in the same game.
It leaves head coach Thomas Tuchel with options as he finalises his starting XI.
The England boss is yet to field the same starting back four in consecutive games at the World Cup but has considered keeping the same defence that began the quarter-final against Norway.
Ezri Konsa, John Stones, Marc Guehi and Nico O'Reilly all started, and it is understood that Tuchel was impressed with how the quartet operated in the 2-1 win.

Leading into the final two games of the tournament, England will need to rely once again on their two stars who both share 6 goals a piece: former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham and current Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane.
Against Norway, it was Bellingham who netted a brace to drag England through after extra-time. However, for England, Kane's fellow Bundesliga star Jarell Quansah remains suspended for a red card he got in the last 16 against Mexico.
For Argentina, it was also extra time which took them through to the semi-finals as they beat Switzerland 3-1 as Switzerland and former Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Breel Embolo got a yellow card.
As for the attacking midfield, the trio of Alexis MacAllister, Rodrigo de Paul and Enzo Fernandez has remained unchanged since Bayer 04 star Exequiel Palacios played his only game against Jordan in the final group match for the World cup holders.
Overall, this game is tightly balanced with both teams having squeezed through a number of games with one goal leads within the knockout stages. Both teams have also shipped a number of goals and have focused on outscoring opponents.

The head of Fifa's disciplinary committee has refused to answer BBC questions about the decision-making process which led to England's Jarell Quansah being banned for two World Cup games while United States striker Folarin Balogun avoided the same sanction.
Defender Quansah was sent off in England's 3-2 win over Mexico following a high challenge on Jesus Gallardo.
It was classed as serious foul play, meaning the Bayer Leverkusen player was handed an extra match on top of the automatic one-game suspension by Fifa.
But the same committee waived a ban for Balogun, who was sent off for serious foul play against Bosnia-Herzegovina. He should also have received a ban for two games.
That decision prompted widespread condemnation - particularly when it emerged US President Donald Trump and White House officials had lobbied Fifa about the American's ban.

Thomas Tuchel says Reece James will be back available for England's quarter-final tie with Norway.
The defender has missed the last three games because of a hamstring injury but returned to team training ahead of Saturday's clash.
Marc Guehi is also set to be available amid concerns over his fitness after the win over Mexico.
The only absentees for England will be Jordan Henderson, who is set to miss the remainder of the tournament with an arm injury, and Jarell Quansah who is suspended.
"It's the best news. We had everyone available in training which we of course like," the England boss said.

England midfielder Declan Rice and defenders Reece James and Marc Guehi trained on Friday, July 10, ahead of the team's World Cup quarterfinal match against Norway on Saturday, July 11.
"We had everyone available and training, which we of course like," head coach Thomas Tuchel said. "We have the full choice except for our suspended player, Jarell Quansah. That's the good news."
Rice had been ill for several days leading up to the match. The England midfielder was isolated from the team by FIFA in an attempt to prevent an outbreak.
James hasn't played since England's June 23 match against Ghana. He has been dealing with hamstring issues since then. Guehi has also dealt with hamstring issues since the Three Lions played Mexico on July 5, working through tightness.
Though the update on Rice, James and Guehi sounds promising, England is still dealing with an injury to midfielder Jordan Henderson.

England received a boost on the eve of their World Cup quarter-final against Norway after Declan Rice, Marc Guehi and Reece James all returned to training on Friday.
James has missed the last three games after picking up a hamstring injury, causing coach Thomas Tuchel a headache at right-back given his lack of other options in that position.
Chelsea captain James looks set to return to the starting line-up on Saturday with Jarell Quansah suspended after the red card he received in a memorable 3-2 win over Mexico in the last 16.
Guehi and Rice both played the full match in Mexico City.
However, they both missed training, alongside James, on Wednesday.

Jarell Quansah has been banned for two games by Fifa for his red card in England’s last-16 win over Mexico.
Quansah was sent off after VAR review following a reckless sliding challenge which saw his studs go into the shin of Jesus Gallardo.
England were considering appealing the decision after Fifa suspended USA striker Folarin Balogun’s one-match ban, something that was lobbied for by US president Donald Trump in a hugely controversial move.
However, England have now discovered that Quansah’s suspension has been doubled to two matches instead of one after Fifa found him in breach of Article 14 of their code of conduct, which states a player would get a two-game ban for serious foul play.
It means the Bayer Leverkusen defender will miss both Saturday’s quarter-final against Norway as well as a potential semi-final against either Argentina or Switzerland, with the only prospect of a return for the defender being in the final if Thomas Tuchel’s side get that far.

FIFA's handling of two World Cup red-card cases came under renewed scrutiny on Thursday after England defender Jarell Quansah got a two-match suspension while U.S. striker Folarin Balogun avoided an immediate ban for a similar challenge.
That has left former international referees unable to reconcile the two decisions.

As the competition intensifies, the politics surrounding the World Cup are following suit. Another controversial FIFA decision has left the English media enraged.
Jarell Quansah’s red card for England against Mexico has resulted in a two-game ban. USMNT Folarin Bolagun, on the other hand, saw his red card ban suspended, allowing him to play against Belgium.
What has resulted is a demand for answers, accusations of corruption, and even calls for FIFA president Gianni Infantino to resign.
The widely held belief is that the governing body have lost control of the tournament, bending to the will of a certain world leader.
The verdict was fairly unanimous.

ATLANTA (AP) — England defender Jarell Quansah was handed a two-match suspension on Thursday for his red card offense against Mexico in the World Cup round of 16.
That means Quansah will miss England's World Cup quarterfinal match against Norway on Saturday and also the semifinals if Thomas Tuchel's team advances.

FIFA confirmed the two-match suspension for serious foul play.

Quansah was sent off in the 54th minute of the 3-2 win following a high challenge on Jesus Gallardo.

FIFA added an additional game onto the one-match suspension for England's Jarell Quansah, meaning that the defender will also miss the World Cup semifinal should his team advance.
Quansah received a straight red card in England's 3-2 win over Mexico in the round of 16 and there wasn't too much argument about the call itself. But after Folarin Balogun's suspension was controversially lifted for the United States, other teams and players in the tournament thought maybe FIFA was willing to be lenient with suspensions in the knockout stage this year.
Instead, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee brought down the hammer on the England defender, who now can't play on Saturday against Norway in the quarterfinals or a potential semifinal against Argentina/Switzerland next week.

The knockout stages of World Cup 2026 are in full swing, meaning teams will be praying not to suffer any untimely injury setbacks in their quest for global glory.
Some of the big injury sagas heading into the tournament have come to happy endings, with Lamine Yamal now a regular fixture for Spain after returning to full fitness, while injury-ridden Neymar was able to get some minutes in what will likely be his final World Cup, before Brazil's elimination at the hands of Norway.
However, many nations are still sweating over major concerns to top players. England have been without Reece James for their last three matches, with this blow turning into a full-blown injury crisis at right-back after Djed Spence and Jarell Quansah also reporting issues.
Spain have also been dealing with a double injury blow after wingers Nico Williams and Yeremy Pino suffered setbacks during their third group outing against Uruguay, while Belgium's Amadou Onana has been ruled out for the tournament after suffering an ACL injury.

England defender Dan Burn believes the team must significantly improve on their Mexico performance to overcome Norway in their World Cup quarter-final this weekend, a challenge he relishes, particularly the prospect of keeping Erling Haaland quiet.
A place in the semi-finals is on offer in the Miami heat, as Thomas Tuchel's men face the "Scandinavian surprise package," buoyed by their recent 2-1 victory against Brazil.
England's previous game saw the Three Lions overcome hostility, altitude, and Jarell Quansah's red card to secure a 3-2 victory over Mexico at the Estadio Azteca.
Burn played a key role off the bench, helping Tuchel's 10 men batten down the hatches.
However, the towering defender knows far more is required if they are to avoid an "agonising quarter-final exit" to Norway.

A total of 19 players are carrying a yellow card into the World Cup quarter-finals.
This means that any of these players will be suspended for a potential semi-final if they are booked again in the upcoming round.
Among the notable players on a yellow card are Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi, France and Bayern Munich forward Michael Olise, Norway and RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa and England midfielder Jude Bellingham.
Yellow cards picked up before the knockout stages were wiped before the round of 32, and bookings will be reset again after the quarter-finals.
England's Jarell Quansah was the only player sent off in the round of 16, receiving his marching orders against Mexico, and the Bayer Leverkusen defender will therefore miss his side's quarter-final against Norway.

Elliot Anderson has said England have gained huge confidence from their World Cup win over Mexico after dealing with the adversity, altitude and atmosphere of the Azteca Stadium.
England reached the quarter-finals of the 2026World Cup after a 3-2 win over the co-hosts in Mexico City. The Three Lions survived Jarell Quansah's 54th-minute red card to grind out a hard-fought win over Mexico, with Jude Bellingham scoring twice and Harry Kane also on target.
Mexico had lost only twice previously in competitive games at the Azteca Stadium, and hadn't been beaten at the venue in 13 years.
Anderson admitted it was a massive performance and result from Thomas Tuchel's side. The midfielder said England have gained huge confidence from their gritty display, ahead of facing Norway in the last eight this weekend.
The fixture, kicking off at 10pm (BST), will be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida

England are in a precarious position when it comes to discipline at the World Cup, with certain players in danger of missing the semi-finals if the Three Lions get past Norway in the last eight.
On Sunday – or the early hours of Monday morning, for viewers in England – Thomas Tuchel’s side emerged as 3-2 winners over Mexico in Mexico City, surviving a rollercoaster game in which Jude Bellingham netted twice and Harry Kane scored from the spot.
But another key moment saw England right-back Jarell Quansah given a straight red card for a high challenge on Jesus Gallardo, while four teammates were booked: defenders Marc Guehi and Nico O’Reilly, and midfielders Declan Rice and Jordan Henderson.
In the previous game, a last-32 win over DR Congo, Bellingham received a yellow card.
But what do these bookings mean for England against Norway, and then in the semi-finals if England get that far?

England manager Thomas Tuchel expects Reece James to be available for the World Cup quarter-final against Norway on Saturday (22:00 BST).
Tuchel's right-back crisis intensified after Jarell Quansah's red card in Sunday's 3-2 win over Mexico, meaning the Bayer Leverkusen defender is suspended for England's next knockout tie in Miami.
James is yet to return to full training having suffered a hamstring injury in the second group match against Ghana, and he has missed the games against Panama, DR Congo and Mexico.
But there is emerging hope the 26-year-old can ease England's problems at right-back by returning to full training this week.
After Quansah's red card in the 54th minute in Mexico City, Ezri Konsa - who has started all of England's games at centre-back - finished as a right wing-back.

MS NOW’s Morning Joe panel weighed in on the World Cup controversy on Monday’s (July 6) show, with co-host Jonathan Lemire suggesting that FIFA’s red card ruling could lead to “bad karma.”
The drama surrounds U.S. Men’s Soccer team star Folarin Balogun, who received a red card during the game against Bosnia-Herzegovina, making him ineligible for the U.S.’s Round of 16 match against Belgium. That was until FIFA announced on Sunday (July 5) that it was suspending the red card, meaning Balogun can play in the crucial knockout game.
As Lemire pointed out, the decision to suspend Balogun’s red card came following reports that President Donald Trump personally called FIFA president Gianni Infantino on Balogun’s behalf. This has led critics to accuse Trump and FIFA of corruption, though FIFA states that it is within its rules to suspend a red card.
“This certainly helps the U.S. on the field, but the karma is bad,” Lemire said on Morning Joe, per Mediaite. “The karma is very bad. You know, Keir Starmer, lame duck Prime Minister of the U.K., probably can’t get that red card overturned, the one from yesterday.”
Lemire was referring to Jarell Quansah, the England center-back who received a red card during his team’s clash with Mexico on Sunday night. The MS NOW anchor said he doesn’t believe Starmer would be able to call FIFA and get the card suspended, “but President Trump can.”
