West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo has joined French Ligue 1 side RC Lens on a season-long loan deal.
The 26-year-old arrived at the London Stadium from Nice in August 2024, initially on loan, with an obligation to buy the Frenchman for just over £34m the following summer.
The former Barcelona and Toulouse centre-back has made 54 appearances for the Hammers since his move to London but did not feature for Nuno Espirito Santo's side this season.

Yann Gboho (25) has been linked with a transfer all summer, however, the Ivory Coast international remains at Toulouse FC. But that could change in the final days of the transfer window. As per a report from RMC Sport, the Ivorian winger is now attracting interest from RC Lens and Hull City.
Kansas City have been interested in Gboho throughout the summer, but have thus far failed to get a move over the line. L'Équipe described the prospective deal as "complex" earlier this week. Olympique de Marseille have also been interested throughout the summer. However, OM have yet to make a single transfer this summer. They must still make sales before being able to dip into the market themselves. Time is running out.
But there is now interest from RC Lens, who will compete in the UEFA Champions League this season. There is also interest from Hull City, who are back in the Premier League and beat Manchester United upon their return to the top flight.

It seemed set in stone that the future of Toulouse FC's Dayann Methalie (20) belonged in the Premier League. Having been keen to secure the services of the young left-back for several weeks, AFC Sunderland had managed to reach an agreement with their French counterparts regarding the transfer of their rising star. Everything looked set… until the customary medical examination shook things up.
In fact, it was during this procedure that an abnormality in Methalie's back was reportedly identified, forcing the Black Cats to consider only two options: to proceed with the risk of aggravating the injury, or to put the player on a treatment programme that would keep him out of action for six weeks.
However, according to reports in L'Équipe, this ******* sment has not been shared by Téfécé's medical staff, who regard the Frenchman's problem as minor and of no consequence to his availability. Such conflicting opinions have prompted Sunderland's management to consult a Paris-based back specialist, who in turn confirmed that there was nothing of concern to report.
Not entirely reassured, the English club requested further medical opinions and, as a result, reportedly decided to put their initial offer on hold. This did not, however, prevent the Black Cats' management from proposing to Toulouse that they amend the terms of their agreement, ultimately offering a loan with an option to buy.
An alternative immediately dismissed out of hand by Les Violets' chairman, Olivier Cloarec, concerned about potential financial demands from the player's entourage, which would have further complicated the matter. A version of events denied by Sunderland.

AFC Sunderland are reported to have put the transfer of Toulouse FC's Dayann Methalie (20) on standby after the Frenchman failed to pass all stages of his medical, according to information from Le Parisien.
Whilst a tripartite agreement had been reached in recent hours for a deal valued at €30m including bonuses, the left-back's move to England could ultimately fall through. This is due to the discovery of a back problem deemed serious enough by the Black Cats to put the medical process on hold.
Back in France, Methalie will now undergo further tests to determine the nature and severity of his problems, before a decision is made on whether or not to finalise his transfer.
This is a huge blow for the 20-year-old, who had made Sunderland his top priority this summer, but also for Téfécé, who could see a particularly lucrative transfer – the most important in their history – slip through their fingers.

Delaware resident Mark McKenzie is reportedly returning to the Philadelphia Union, where he launched a pro soccer career that led him to the 2026 World Cup.
The 27-year-old center back will remain with Toulouse in France's Ligue 1 until the January transfer window before rejoining the Union at an estimated $2.5 million fee, The Athletic reported.
That will position McKenzie to appear for the Union when Major League Soccer's inaugural summer-to-spring 2026-27 schedule begins.
McKenzie had made 30 appearances for the U.S. senior men's national team, including starting and playing its entire 2026 World Cup game against Turkiye.
The Bear resident is a Union homegrown player, coming up through its academy system starting at age 13. He attended Newark Charter School until 11th grade before transferring to the Union's YSC Academy in Wayne, Pennsylvania.

AFC Sunderland are reported to have reached a full agreement with Toulouse FC over the transfer of Dayann Methalie (20), according to RMC Sport.
The left-back, who has already been in agreement with the Black Cats for several days, is expected to undergo a medical with the English club in the coming hours, before signing a five-year contract. The deal is estimated to be worth €30m, including bonuses.
This is a somewhat unexpected outcome in one of Ligue 1's big summer transfer stories, given that various reports had recently suggested that Toulouse had turned down a €33m offer from Sunderland for their young star.
At 20, Methalie is set to become one of the top three most expensive sales in the club's history, which set its record a few weeks ago by selling Emersonn (21) to Ipswich Town for €28m.
Having started 24 of the 30 matches he played for Les Violets, the club where he came through the ranks, across all competitions, the French Under-21 international stood out with two goals and two ******* ists.

Chairman Mark Ashton acknowledges that one of the key lessons from Ipswich's previous Premier League campaign was the need to bring in more athletic players "with a different set of physical attributes".
The midfield lacked power and ball-winning ability in 2024-25, and it is imperative that new arrivals Florentino Luis and Sasa Lukic – both experienced at the highest level – hit the ground running. That will be especially important with last season's mainstays Azor Matusiwa and Jack Taylor doubtful for the opening game following operations over the summer.
It is no surprise that Gary O'Neil is also seeking greater cutting edge given that no Ipswich player scored more than 10 non-penalty goals in the Championship last season.
The Blues broke their transfer record to sign Brazilian striker Emersonn, 22, for an initial £24m. He certainly fits the desired physical profile but is relatively raw, having only established himself as a regular last season at Toulouse, where he scored seven goals in 31 appearances, 22 of them starts.
Daizen Maeda, a hardworking forward or winger, had an excellent record at Celtic, netting 79 times in 212 games, but won't get the same volume of chances in a team battling to stay up.

New Bayer Leverkusen coach Carles Martínez is a true football addict which didn't even stop at his wedding.
"The invitation said: Don't forgot your football boots," Martínez said in an interview with Thursday edition of daily Süddeutsche Zeitung.
"We set up a small pitch and organized matches. Five v five, for a few minutes. I was wearing a suit and tie, captain's armband - and football boots," he recalled.
Martínez, 42, said he also missed the birth of his first child in 2024 because he was in Metz with his then French club Toulouse for a match while his wife was in labour in their native Spain.
He left Toulouse after three years to sign a two-year contract in Leverkusen in succession of Kasper Hjulmand, two years after compatriot Xabi Alonso led the German club to a historic unbeaten Bundesliga and German Cup double.

Leeds Rhinos veteran Kallum Watkins has extended his deal through to the end of next season.
The 35-year-old centre, who made his 350th Super League appearance in last Friday's win over Toulouse Olympique, rejoined the Rhinos from Salford in April last year.
The England international started his career with Leeds and made his debut for the club against Celtic Crusaders in April 2008, aged 17.
"Kallum is exactly the type of player every coach wants in their squad," head coach Brad Arthur told the club website.
"His standards are outstanding and he leads through his actions every single day.

English defender Charlie Cresswell has joined Stade Rennes on a five-year contract.
The former England youth international left Leeds United for Toulouse in the summer of 2023 after having come through the academy at the West Yorkshire side.
The Preston-born player spent two seasons with Toulouse, featuring 66 times in total scoring eight goals and making five ****** ists. He has now made the swap to Rennes where he has signed until 2031.
"There's been a lot of talk about my signing with Rennes these past few weeks," Cresswell said on joining Les Rouge et Noirs.
"Finally arriving here and making this project a reality is fantastic. I'm really very happy. I had two wonderful years in Toulouse, I couldn't have hoped for better, but football is cyclical and the prospect of playing in European competition was a very good reason. The club has an interesting project and I think it will be an excellent team this year. I hope we'll achieve great things."

Newcastle United have walked out of the race to sign Toulouse left-back Dayann Methalie (20) with their Premier League rivals Sunderland AFC now the clear favourites to sign the France U21 international, according to The Guardian. The Black Cats, who are set to compete in the UEFA Europa League next season, have already secured an agreement on personal terms with Methalie over a five-year contract, as reported yesterday by RMC.
The 20-year-old is billed as one of the best French prospects in the left-back role, with a senior France bow expected in a few years with Lucas Digne and Théo Hernandez entering the twilight of their career. Methalie has been extensively scouted by Eddie Howe's Magpies, but the latter have opted against submitting a bid this summer. Aston Villa also enquired about the Toulouse left-back.

A free agent since leaving Toulouse FC, the French full-back is reportedly seen internally as a real opportunity in the transfer market. Ipswich Town have continued their preparations for their return to the Premier League by completing the £20m signing of Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu from Leicester City.
The 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract and joins Gary O'Neil's side after scoring 16 goals in 100 games for Leicester since joining from Sporting in 2023.
Fatawu has arrived at Portman Road with Ipswich willing to allow winger Jaden Philogene to leave, with the 24-year-old attracting interest from Europe.
He has a list of admirers - believed to include Bologna, Roma and Benfica - and Ipswich will sanction a transfer if a suitable offer comes in.
Fatawu is the Tractor Boys' fifth summer signing after striker Emersonn joined from Toulouse earlier this month for a club record fee of about £26m.

Manchester United's pursuit of AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone may have taken a complicated turn. The Red Devils endured a slow start to the summer but have picked up the pace in recent days.
With the midfield a priority following Casemiro's exit, INEOS have already signed Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. The English giants have also secured the services of Karl Darlow on a free transfer to bolster their goalkeeping department.
While Santos and Tielemans could prove to be shrewd acquisitions and should add quality to the middle of the park, United remain on the hunt for a third midfielder. The Red Devils need more steel and tenacity in midfield and are understandably looking at defensive midfielders.
Several candidates remain linked with the Premier League giants, including Kone, who has impressed for both club and country of late.
Kone spent his formative years at several clubs before arriving at Toulouse in 2016. He earned his senior debut with the club from southern France, before moving to Borussia Monchengladbach in 2021.

Toulouse FC have opened talks to sign FC Basel midfielder Andrej Bacanin (19), according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Toulouse are looking to bolster their midfield options ahead of the coming season. Their attention initially was focused on Matias Siltanen, who currently plays his football for Djurgarden.
Le TéFéCé had been hopeful of concluding a deal for the Finland youth international, however, whilst the midfielder agreed to the move, finding an agreement with Djurgarden has proved more difficult. The latter's valuation may be too high for Toulouse, Foot Mercato understands, hence their shift of focus onto another target.
Bacanin, who primarily plays as a defensive midfielder, but who can also play as a No.8, played 25 games for FC Basel last season. The Serbia youth international (10 caps for the U19s) registered two ****** ists in that time. Toulouse have now made contact with the Serb concerning a potential move this summer.

While the club broke transfer records, the problem for the transfer guru was what they could not buy. Or did not, anyway.
Liverpool's summer departures will include Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and, now, Michael Edwards; in his first stint at Anfield, perhaps the most celebrated sporting director in the game. In his second, as Fenway Sports Group's CEO of football, a man heading a multi-club operation with a solitary club.
Edwards' decision to move on, a year before the end of his lucrative contract, was made last autumn, when he handed in his notice. It predated much of Liverpool's troubled season and the sacking of Arne Slot, if not the record outlay of £450m on players, and £125m on Alexander Isak, last summer.
But when he was persuaded to return, it was supposedly to head up a bigger project. FSG looked at a host of other clubs – Malaga, Bordeaux, Toulouse, and 20 or more others – but bought none. The outlay was of more than half a billion on players, including this summer's additions, but nothing on clubs. FSG was not to become Merseyside's answer to the City Football Group or (perhaps thankfully) BlueCo.
It also invited the question of what Liverpool's collection of directors of football all did. Edwards brought Julian Ward back, as FSG's technical director, and recruited Pedro Marques, as their director of football development, while Richard Hughes, an ally from his Portsmouth days, was his appointment as sporting director of Liverpool.

Ipswich Town are back in the Premier League and, this time, they look determined to stay there. After finishing second in the Championship and bouncing straight back following relegation from the 2024/25 top-flight campaign, the club have wasted little time reshaping the squad for another crack at survival.
The managerial change is the first major shift. Kieran McKenna moved on after delivering promotion, and Gary O’Neil has arrived on a three-year deal. It is a practical appointment. He knows the division, he knows the demands, and he knows that sentiment does not keep you up. Squad depth does.

That is where this transfer window starts to matter. Ipswich have already brought in Cedric Kipre from Stade Reims and Chuba Akpom from Ajax, two additions aimed at adding experience and options at both ends of the pitch. Now, according to Give Me Sport, they are closing in on a third arrival, and it is a significant one.
The report states that Ipswich have agreed a £20 million deal with Toulouse for striker Emersonn. If completed, it would match the club-record fee previously paid for Jaden Philogene and Omari Hutchinson. For a club in Ipswich’s position, that tells you plenty. They are not shopping for cover, they are investing in a profile.
