The American electric vehicle market spent most of the past decade running on a subsidy. That credit, worth $7,500 per car, expired on Sept. 30, 2025, and the correction arrived exactly on schedule. Automakers sold 462,892 all-electric vehicles in the first half of 2026, down 23.8% from the same period a year earlier, according to ****** Automotive.
The industry response was a stampede for the exits. Carmakers have booked nearly $70 billion in write-downs as they scrap and postpone electric programs, reported Automotive News. Honda alone canceled three North American electric projects and now expects its first annual net loss since 1957.
One automaker did not flinch. Toyota (TM) confirmed this month that it will keep rolling out new battery-electric models through the rest of the year, even as it trims spending elsewhere in the lineup.
The company will "slow its product interventions in some model lines to save money," reported Automotive News, while continuing its EV rollout and leaning harder into hybrids.

In an episode of The Draymond Green Show, Green says the lengthy history between James and the Warriors factored into his decision to go elsewhere. James' Cleveland Cavaliers battled the Warriors in four consecutive NBA Finals, with the Cavaliers coming back from a 3-1 deficit in 2016 for their lone ***** le win over that stretch.
"I ultimately don't think Bron was ever able to get over the history and I understand it, I get it," Green said. "... He's gonna get crushed if he comes to the Warriors. On one hand, UPS beat on everything that mattered this quarter. EPS of $1.76 against $1.66 expected, revenue of $22.8 billion against $21.81 billion expected, and raised full-year guidance on top of it. On the other hand, the stock fell 8% anyway, because Wall Street also got to see UPS' third-quarter outlook.
The best line of the whole call, though, came from CEO Carol Tomé, who said, "if you ignore Amazon and the volume that we intentionally made available to the market, we actually grew our volume in the second quarter." Which, sure, if you ignore the baseball playing, the Mets look great this year. Half the companies in America would probably love the chance to report earnings with an asterisk that says "excluding our biggest, most demanding customer, everything here looks fantastic." Tomé is just the one honest enough to say it out loud on a recorded call.
The Amazon divorce is real, though, and mostly finished. UPS has cut roughly 2 million pieces a day of what it calls "lower quality Amazon volume," stripping out about $4.5 billion in related costs so far, on purpose, in exchange for a leaner network it insists will pay off as volume grows elsewhere. Domestic revenue rose 6% on higher revenue per piece, international jumped 12.5%, and healthcare logistics cleared $3 billion for a second straight quarter, with Tomé bragging UPS is the only carrier offering true end-to-end healthcare delivery on its own ******* ets.

Vea wants to enter the season with a new contract, and because the two sides haven't agreed on a deal, the Washington product wants to start fresh elsewhere. Last season with Tampa, Vea appeared in all 17 games and finished with 4.5 sacks, 13 quarterback hits and 34 total tackles.

Everton are interested in signing Chelsea striker Liam Delap this summer, according to talkSPORT. Blackstone may manage more than $1.3 trillion in **** ets, but president Jon Gray doesn't want the firm's newest class of Gen Z **** ysts thinking like stereotypical employees at a Wall Street giant. To succeed, he says, they should approach their jobs like they're working at a startup.

Intel (INTC) stock rocketed 25% higher in early trading Friday after the company reported better-than-anticipated first quarter earnings and positive Q2 outlook on Thursday, sending shares soaring as much as 15%.
Intel's Data Center segment powered the beats, as the company's central processing units (CPUs) become an increasingly important part of the AI industry.

For the second time in three months, Diego Pavia faces an uncertain future in football.
At this time last year, Pavia was preparing for his final season at Vanderbilt, which resulted in him becoming the Commodores' first-ever Heisman Trophy finalist, leading an electric offense to a 10-3 record and racking up 3,539 passing yards and 862 rushing yards. Despite that collegiate success, though, Pavia hasn't found a home in the pros.
After going undrafted in April's NFL Draft, Pavia initially landed with the Baltimore Ravens, even signing a three-year deal with a chance to carve out an eventual role in the quarterback room behind Lamar Jackson. It was a short-lived opportunity. On Thursday, Pavia was waived, making it even more unclear where he could wind up.

Arsenal have intensified their pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes, with reports in Brazil indicating that a fresh bid has now been lodged with Newcastle United as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen the spine of his side before the new campaign.
According to RTI Esporte, ****** nal have increased their offer to €85m, £72.5m, made up of €80m, £68.3m, guaranteed and a further €5m, £4.2m, in add-ons. That figure moves beyond the previous €75m, £64m, proposal, which was deemed below Newcastle's valuation of their captain.
The report adds that personal terms are already in place with Guimaraes, leaving the clubs to determine whether common ground can be found. From ****** nal's perspective, that is often the clearest indication that a move has progressed beyond tentative interest and into serious negotiation.
Arsenal have already moved with intent in this window, securing Piero Hincapie on a permanent deal from Bayer Leverkusen and bringing in Illan Meslier to add competition in goal. The missed opportunity to land Morgan Rogers, who instead completed a £117m switch from Aston Villa to Chelsea, appears to have sharpened the club's focus elsewhere.
In that context, the Bruno Guimaraes transfer feels highly significant. ****** nal are seeking a midfielder capable of dictating tempo, resisting pressure and adding authority in the biggest moments. Few in the Premier League combine those traits as consistently as the Brazil international.

Following the 2025 season, 31 players departed from the Oregon Ducks roster via the transfer portal, seeking more opportunity elsewhere. Reserve quarterback Austin Novosad was one of the more prominent names to do so.
Rated as a four-star and the No. 13 quarterback in the 2023 class, Oregon managed to flip Novosad from Baylor after five-star Dante Moore spurned the Ducks and himself flipped to UCLA. A top 200 prospect, the flip was considered a significant win for Oregon especially how quickly it came after losing Moore.
But the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Novosad never could quite carve out a role with the Ducks. He saw his most action in 2023 as a freshman, completing 9-of-11 passes for 52 yards in garbage time. That ended up being the peak, as he was the third-string quarterback in 2024 and once again in 2025.
Having transferred to Bowling Green of the MAC, where he's projected to be the starter this fall, intrigue is following the former Oregon passer. While The Athletic ranked Novosad as a Tier 7 (113th out of 138 overall) quarterback in college football, the lowest tier, he was named among seven of the most fascinating signal-callers to keep an eye on in 2026.
"We never saw much of Novosad at Oregon," The Athletic's Antonio Morales wrote. "He spent the 2023 season behind Bo Nix, 2024 behind Dillon Gabriel and Moore, who joined the program after a season at UCLA, and 2025 behind Moore and Brock Thomas, who appeared to unseat Novosad for the backup role last year. Novosad has attempted 15 career passes, and 11 of those came in 2023. It's been a while since he's received extended playing time. For a former top 150 recruit, he's a relative mystery — one we'll learn more about this fall at Bowling Green."

Former Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia is now looking for a new NFL home. Why is that?
Well, the Baltimore Ravens waived Pavia ahead of training camp, a clear indication the rookie quarterback failed to make enough of an impact to justify the roster spot needed to contend for the 53-man roster.
Pavia will now be subject to waivers, meaning another team could pick him up to compete in training camp. However, if he passes through waivers, he will be eligible to sign elsewhere as a free agent.
We're not quite sure what put Pavia on the outs in Baltimore, but his cut is just a matter of losing the depth chart competition for where the Ravens' quarterback room is at this time.
