Oppenheimer downgraded Walmart stock to a neutral rating, citing reduced outperformance potential.
Analysts highlighted U.S. pharmacy revenue headwinds, valuation concerns, and overly optimistic Street forecasts.
Shares of Walmart started the year strong. Now they've cooled, and some ***** ysts are offering up reasons for further caution.
Oppenheimer ***** ysts on Tuesday downgraded Walmart (WMT) stock to a neutral "perform" rating, withdrawing a $140 per share price target that represented a 26% premium to yesterday's close around $111 and was roughly in line with the Visible Alpha mean.
The ***** ysts cited three reasons they now see a "less compelling outperformance case" for the stock: revenue headwinds facing the U.S. pharmacy business that could hurt same-store sales, a "peakish" valuation, and Wall Street forecasts that they characterized as "well ahead" of the company's guidance.

Enterprise AI agents were meant to be the breakout software offering for 2026, yet instead they've become one of the major sources of buyer distrust. According to Anaconda and Forrester research, over 88% of AI agent pilots never reach production, as confirmed by independent polls from a16z and MIT Sloan's CIO panel, while Gartner predicts that more than 40% of agentic AI initiatives will be discontinued entirely by 2027 due to questionable ROI.
Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM) walked into the gap between agent hype and agent reality when it placed its growth narrative on Agentforce, and by 2026, that bet has made Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM) one of the worst-performing components of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, down around 31.48% year to date.
The immediate cause appears to be a credibility problem, not a demand issue. Bernstein downgraded Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM) to Sector Weight from Outperform on July 9, removing its price target completely and citing poor customer feedback on Agentforce in particular. According to **** yst Jackson Ader, the released data doesn't yet indicate growing momentum, and a recent CIO survey found Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM) to be "a standout for the wrong reasons."
That said, this interpretation is not uniform, and the debate on the market is serious. On July 14, Goldman Sachs reiterated its Buy rating and $242 price target, expecting organic growth to pick up in the third quarter as more details on AI monetization become available at Salesforce's Agentforce event in September. Goldman's more constructive reading is based on management's own acknowledgment of headwinds in Tableau, Commerce, and Marketing, which the firm sees as realistic rather than concerning, arguing that Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM) is being open about a 12-to-24-month drag on its organic growth algorithm rather than covering it up.
Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM)'s historical valuation decline looks to be the most mispriced aspect of the market story. Shares are currently trading at a compressed forward earnings multiple of only 10.83x, a substantial drop from the stock's five-year historical average of over 127x. The disparity is even more obvious when compared to prominent peers such as ServiceNow, which trades at a forward P/E of around 20.43x and requires consistent revenue growth above 18% through 2028 to maintain its valuation premium. Salesforce's current valuation of less than 11x forecast earnings is in near-total deadlock, despite the company's strong free cash flow generation and substantial enterprise data integration.

Interested in Oracle Corporation? Here are five stocks we like better.
S&P Global Ratings downgraded Oracle's credit rating to BBB-, citing a widening free cash flow deficit and heavy reliance on OpenAI for revenue.
Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon and Oracle are all borrowing heavily to fund AI spending, but Oracle has the weakest balance sheet and no rating cushion left.
Oracle's negative free cash flow raises the risk of higher interest costs, fewer buybacks, and difficulty covering debt if AI demand slows.
The past few weeks have seen the bond market start asking a question the stock market has mostly been happy to ignore: Who can actually afford the AI buildout?

On July 10, 2026, Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) and Astellas Pharma (ALPMY) announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved PADCEV, a Nectin-4 directed antibody-drug conjugate, plus the PD-1 inhibitor Keytruda or Keytruda QLEX as neoadjuvant and adjuvant treatment for adult patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer, regardless of cisplatin eligibility. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is one of the 10 Best Stocks to Buy in 2026 According to Billionaire D.E. Shaw.
Consumer electronics giant Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)'s shares are up by 48.9% over the past year and by 16,9% year-to-date. Evercore ISI discussed the firm on June 25th, as it kept a $365 share price target and an Overweight rating on the stock. The coverage came after Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) made a major announcement due to the ongoing historic shortages in the memory market. This announcement saw the firm increase its product prices across the board due to the pricey memory chips. Everocre remarked that the price hikes showed that even Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), despite its heft, was not immune to component pricing pressures.

A few days earlier, on June 22nd, KGI Securities had downgraded the shares. It had cut the rating to Hold from Outperform and kept a $315 share price target. More recently, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been in the news due to a historic leak of details about its iPhone 18. The upcoming smartphone's pictures, supplier list and other details were leaked after India's Tata Electronics was targeted by a cyberattack.
While we acknowledge the risk and potential of AAPL as an investment, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and doing so within a shorter time frame. Salesforce (CRM) rarely draws a downgrade from two research firms at once. This week it did.
On Thursday, July 9, KeyBanc Capital Markets and Bernstein downgraded Salesforce to a Hold. The stock fell roughly 3% to 4% at its low before steadying the next day.
However, what matters beyond the price drop is why both firms stepped back at the same time, and what that means for anyone who owns the stock.
KeyBanc moved Salesforce to Sector Weight from Overweight. Bernstein also downgraded the stock to Sector Weight from Outperform, according to Investing.com.
Both firms had the same concern. The adoption of Agentforce, the company's flagship AI agent platform, is progressing more slowly than the headline numbers suggest.

Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE) is one of the Best Software Stocks to Buy in 2026. Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE) has declined around 14% over the past month. The major reason behind the decline has been the rising competition concerns from AI. ***** ysts have differing views on the company's future outlook. Overall, the Street's average 12-month price target suggests more than 11.5% upside from current levels.
On June 29, Phillip Securities downgraded Adobe to Neutral, slashing its price target to $203 from $385. The firm noted that the key concern behind the cautious rating is slowing core software growth. Phillip Securities highlighted that despite the company's early AI investments, the revenue stream is expected to stay immaterial for years. The firm added that peers are already monetizing AI more meaningfully, and it sees little room for a near-term valuation rebound in application software.
On the other hand, just a few days later, on July 2, HSBC took a more bullish view and upgraded the stock from Hold to Buy, lifting the price target from $282 to $308. The firm argued that fears about generative AI disrupting Adobe's business have gone too far. It pointed to strong fiscal Q2 results, reflecting 12.7% revenue growth and a 13.1% rise in remaining performance obligations, as evidence that customers are sticking with Adobe's ecosystem rather than using AI-native rivals.
Moreover, HSBC also raised earnings estimates for 2026-2028 by 3% – 8%, citing operating momentum and buybacks, and noted the company's AI push as complementary to its core software segment.
Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE) is a provider of multimedia and digital marketing software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, among others. It also offers AI products such as Adobe Firefly and Adobe Sensei. The company was founded in 1982 and is headquartered in San Jose, California.

Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) is one of the Best Software Stocks to Buy in 2026. Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) has declined more than 8% over the past month, mainly due to valuation concerns and AI disruption fears. The Street has a bullish outlook on the stock, with ******* ysts' 12-month average price target suggesting more than 62% upside from the current level.
Recently, on June 25, Citi maintained a Buy rating on the stock with a price target of $591. However, earlier on June 18, Stifel downgraded the stock from Buy to Hold and lowered the price target from $375 to $275.
Stifel noted that the core concern behind the downgrade is that it expects management to lower long-term growth targets for TurboTax and Global Business Solutions at the September ******* yst day. This comes as the company shifts from years of aggressive price hikes toward more value-based pricing.
The firm noted that it sees TurboTax's growth target dropping to 4% – 6% from 6% – 10%, mainly as lower-income customers get more price sensitive in the DIY tax-filing business. Moreover, for Global Business Solutions, the firm expects growth targets falling to 10% – 15% from the previous 15% – 20% range, due to softer momentum in QuickBooks, payroll, and especially Mailchimp. Stifel also trimmed its fiscal 2027 revenue and EPS estimates, while introducing a fiscal 2028 EPS forecast of $29.38.
Despite the downgrade, Stifel does not expect a sharp further sell-off and noted strong buybacks and a reasonable valuation.

Red Sox must address these three positions if they want to become World Series contenders again originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Red Sox are on a roll recently, trying to dig themselves out of the deep hole they put themselves into earlier this season. If they can climb out of it, a postseason run isn’t out of the question.
However, if they stumble and totally fall out of contention, they will need to address a few positions on their roster. They were able to solidify their rotation, first base and third base, but there’s still a few weak spots on the roster.

Right now, the Red Sox have been using the DH spot as a committee role; a player that needs some rest from the field just takes the DH slot, and only hits for that game. To start the season, it was split between Roman Anthony and Jarren Duran to solve the logjam in the outfield. However, with Anthony’s injury, it got downgraded to a committee role.

RiverPark Advisors, an investment advisory firm and sponsor of the RiverPark family of mutual funds, released its "RiverPark Large Growth Fund" Q1 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The US stock market declined in the quarter with the S&P 500 index ("S&P") and the Russell 1000 Growth index ("RLG") falling 4.33% and 9.78%, respectively. Markets started the year positively but became volatile mainly due to increased tensions with Iran. The Federal Reserve kept rates unchanged in January and February. Still, rising energy prices and weaker economic data sparked concerns about stagflation, leading investors to rethink the timing and scale of future rate cuts. Investor sentiment shifted from growth and tech stocks amid inflation, interest rate, and supply chain concerns. Opposing AI-driven rotations heavily influenced investor sentiment, affecting growth stocks—enthusiasm grew for semiconductor firms linked to AI infrastructure spending, while enterprise software companies, viewed as vulnerable to AI disruption, faced pessimism. The Fund's software holdings were sold off heavily, while the underweight in semiconductor companies, which benefited most from AI infrastructure spending, affected the performance. Despite challenges, the firm remains confident in the long-term prospects and valuations of its portfolio companies. Please review the Fund's top five holdings to gain insights into their key selections for 2026.
In its first-quarter 2026 investor letter, RiverPark Large Growth Fund highlighted Pinterest, Inc. (NYSE:PINS). Pinterest, Inc. (NYSE:PINS) is a social media and visual discovery platform that enables users to find ideas, such as recipes, home, and style inspiration. On July 2, 2026, Pinterest, Inc. (NYSE:PINS) closed at $22.07 per share. One-month return of Pinterest, Inc. (NYSE:PINS) was 1.77%, and its shares lost 38.90% over the past 52 weeks. Pinterest, Inc. (NYSE:PINS) has a market capitalization of $12.36 billion.
RiverPark Large Growth Fund stated the following regarding Pinterest, Inc. (NYSE:PINS) in its Q1 2026 investor letter:
"Pinterest, Inc. (NYSE:PINS): PINS was a significant detractor for the quarter, declining 40% before we exited the position. Pinterest's Q4 2025 earnings report, released in February, was disappointing: revenue of $1.32 billion grew 14.3% year-over-year but missed the $1.33 billion consensus, adjusted EPS of $0.67 fell short of expectations, and Q1 2026 revenue guidance of $951–$971 million came in well below the $980 million the Street had anticipated. CEO Bill Ready attributed the shortfall to an "exogenous shock" from tariffs that caused the company's largest retail advertiser cohort, particularly in home furnishings and décor, to meaningfully pull back on brand advertising budgets. The company also announced approximately 15% workforce reductions and organizational restructuring, further unsettling investors. Multiple **** ysts downgraded the stock following the report

The firm also revised its price target downward from $90 to $70. The downward price target revision reflects PVH's weaker demand in Europe alongside sales and margin headwinds in its Middle East and Turkey operations. Moreover, the firm noted that about 50% of the company's exposure comes from the EMEA region, which limits upside potential due to the Middle East conflict. As a result, the firm expects 2026 EBIT margins to remain flat. High tariff-related costs, licensing changes, and higher marketing expenses are also expected to weigh on profitability and limit margin expansion.
