Boston College will host Rutgers for their annual Red Bandana game on Friday night in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. In a tradition that honors Welles Crowther, a Boston College graduate and volunteer firefighter who died saving lives in the South Tower on 9/11.
When the Eagles played the UCF Knights on the 10th anniversary of 9/11, fans wore red bandana stickers on their helmets. Three years later Boston College created the "red bandana game." Tonight they will wear special red bandana-themed uniforms and helmets for the 13th consecutive year.

San Diego native Maddie Mercado scored the game-winning goal in the 29th minute as Seattle Reign FC defeated San Diego Wave FC 1-0 at Lumen Field on Sunday evening. The 25-year-old forward has now scored in both matches against her hometown team this season.
Mercado has continued her breakout season for Seattle, leading the team with eight goals. Claudia ****** ey had a standout performance between the posts, logging six saves and securing a clean sheet before leaving the match late due to an injury. Reign backup goalkeeper Cassie Miller replaced ****** ey late in the match.
Since returning from the summer break, Seattle remains unbeaten at home and has entered the playoff picture with this result. They handed San Diego its first loss since early August, snapping its two-game win streak. Wave FC is now tied for third place in the standings alongside the NC Courage and Utah Royals, with 39 points.
San Diego played with 10 players for most of the match after rookie defender Mimi Van Zanten made a questionable challenge during a Seattle transition play. Van Zanten and Kennedy Wesley were the last line of defense, and Van Zanten tripped Maddie Dahlien far away from the net.
After further review, the referee deemed the play a denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and gave her a red card in the 13th minute. Wave head coach Jonas Eidevall looked to his bench for defensive help, subbing on Brooklyn Courtnall for skilled forward Melanie Barcenas.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Offensive linemen rarely receive much promotion or have preseason marketing campaigns built around them.
However, with three NFL draft candidates, the University of Cincinnati is trying to change that.
Left guard Evan Tengesdahl, left tackle Joe Cotton and center Taran Tyo aim to turn Nippert Stadium into the Football House of Pancakes. The trio anchors an offensive line that was among the best in the nation last season.
The linemen have been featured on billboards throughout Cincinnati, along with television and radio advertisements, ahead of Saturday's game against Boston College.
"They deserve the promotion. They were one of the top offensive line units in the country last year, and you've got a bunch of them back," coach Scott Satterfield said. "Most of the time, you don't give O-linemen much love. They never get to score, they don't get to make catches or carry the ball. They get their joy in seeing running backs score or blocking for the quarterback."

SEATTLE - An early second-half goal proved to be the night's only offense as the Houston Dash fell 1-0 to the Seattle Reign on Sunday night at Lumen Field.
Maddie Dahlien scored on an **** ist from Maddie Mercado in the 52nd minute, giving Seattle (8-4-8, 28 points) all it would need to hand Houston (7-5-9, 26) consecutive losses on the West Coast. The Dash lost to Bay FC on a late goal last weekend in San Jose, Calif.
The Dash had just one shot on goal to the Reign's five, and Seattle enjoyed 57% possession to largely control the match.
The Dash next play the Orlando Pride at 6 p.m. Sunday in Florida. Houston's next home game is Saturday, Sept. 12, when the Utah Royals visit Shell Energy Stadium for a 7:45 p.m. kickoff.

"I was very proud of that group last year, being our first year together and coming together as the season went along." Said head coach Brett Frederick. "This group is determined to take the next step, to continue to carry on and to take the things they learned from a year ago and from those that were around us that maybe aren't here anymore."
The Vikings lost a handful of players from last season, including quarterback Grady Condon, wide receiver Brad Dahl, and lineman Phillip Davis. North Boone also lost offensive coordinator Chris Weber, as he is now the head coach at Stillman Valley. Leaving a hole that Coach Fredrick and his ****** istants are gladly able to fill.
"Fortunately, the system that we have been using for quite some time." Said Coach Frederick. "I am pretty well versed in it, so I can slide over to the offensive coordinator responsibilities without having to change terminology and scheme entirely."
With a smaller group leaving from North Boone, it means a lot of returning experience for the Vikings, along with a lot of the younger talent stepping into new roles.

It may have taken decades, but Heather Locklear and Lorenzo Lamas have finally fallen into one another's arms. The good news was that his debt had been cut in half. The bad news was that even half the debt was still over $300,000. The "Bold and the Beautiful" star opened up on "Oprah: Where Are They Now" (via HuffPost), saying, "My greatest regret would be that I took my success for granted, because it was given to me at such a young age. I thought my acting career was going to just last forever ..." But the star wasn't going to sit around and wait to see what would happen. He took responsibility and found a way out of the hole he had dug.

1. Seattle legend Jess Fishlock subs on and scores game-winner in 3-2 victory
Women's soccer legend Jess Fishlock is going out with a bang in her retirement season scoring the late game-winner for Seattle Reign less than two minutes after substituting on.
The Reign took a 2-0 lead only 10 minutes in with goals by Mia Fishel and Maddie Dahlien in the sixth and 10th minutes respectively. Bay FC then responded with a goal of their own in the 14th minute by Hannnah Bebar. Bay FC created a few more chances than the Reign in the second half and equalized in the 75th minute with a set piece in which Keira Barry was hiding and got completely open in a wide area.
Bay FC pushed for the winner in the next few minutes, but the Reign weathered the storm then took advantage of a counter in the 85th minute. Seattle stole a throw-in pass by Bay near the midfield and quickly sent a long ball up to Fishlock. The Welsh legend allowed the long ball to bounce once and headed it forward before knocking it in with her right foot for the win.

Dahl is married to former MLB outfielder David Dahl, who spent almost a decade in the league with multiple teams, including the Colorado Rockies, Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, and Philadelphia Phillies. The couple met through mutual connections while Jacquelyn was in college and David was beginning his professional baseball career.
After the birth of their third daughter, Riley, the couple now share three children together. They welcomed their first daughter, Parker Raye Dahl, in January 2021 before becoming parents to their second daughter, Dani Jo. Now, the girl gang is surely thriving as baby girl No. 3 arrived this summer. The couple shared the news a couple of months after announcing the news via a social media post.

ESPN has ended the syndicated version of Good Morning Football.
The syndicated program, GMFB: Overtime, launched in August 2024, but will cease production now that NFL Network is operating under ESPN ownership, according to a report by Front Office Sports. The show was distributed by Sony Pictures to many over-the-air affiliates across the country, in addition to the free Roku Sports Channel.
Jamie Erdahl, Kyle Brandt and Manti Te'o served as hosts of the show, joined by Sherree Burruss as the news reader.
The regular edition of Good Morning Football on NFL Network will continue. That show was shortened from three hours to two when the syndicated show was announced in 2024. It is not clear whether that change will be reversed as a result of this news.
NFL Network was acquired by ESPN as part of an August 2025 deal that also resulted in the NFL acquiring a 10% equity stake in ESPN. The deal closed in January 2026.

The trial of a woman accused of killing her baby by exposing her to heat from a hairdryer has heard the infant's DNA was found on the appliance.
A forensic biologist told the High Court in Aberdeen that samples taken from the hairdryer nozzle matched the DNA of three-month old Dahlia-Rose Gartshore.
Courtney Gartshore, 28, denies culpable homicide while the baby was in her care on 30 September 2023 and a series of other charges.
The court also heard that fragments taken from a partially-stained bedsheet at her flat in Peterhead were identified as belonging to the baby.
Giving evidence on the fourth day of the trial, forensic biologist Esther Combe said a "white crusty material" found on the hairdryer's nozzle had been tested and matched with Dahlia-Rose.

Courtney Gartshore told the operator three-month-old Dahlia-Rose's skin and fingers had changed colour without her noticing.
A recording of a 999 call placed in the early hours of 30 September 2023 was played during the trial at the High Court in Aberdeen.
Gartshore, 27, denies a charge of culpable homicide and a number of other offences.

Graham Potter’s season ended as it began, with a 3-0 defeat. And there the similarities may have ended, given that the victorious teams were Sunderland and France. Eliezer Mayenda, Daniel Ballard and Wilson Isidor, Potter’s tormentors in August, are rarely compared with Kylian Mbappe and Bradley Barcola, who ended Sweden’s World Cup.
He has gone from the Stadium of Light to the MetLife Stadium. Sacked by West Ham, a saviour for Sweden, there has been a redemptive feel to it. The eventual verdict must be that he is among those culpable for West Ham’s relegation, even if his own participation in their campaign was curtailed by a September firing. He got five games with the Hammers in the Premier League, four with Sweden in the World Cup.
He ended it looking more comfortable in his skin and confident in his demeanour than he ever appeared at Chelsea and West Ham. It also finished with Sweden being utterly outclassed by France. BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Sabres acquired the No. 4 pick in the NHL draft in a trade that sent defenseman Bowen Byram to the Chicago Blackhawks.
As part of the deal, Buffalo also acquired third-year defenseman Louis Crevier, who had a career-best 25 points in his first full NHL season, and a second-round draft pick, 46th overall. Chicago also acquired hard-hitting forward Jordan Greenway.
Byram is the key player in the trade.
