TOKYO (AP) — **** an's air force said one of its long-distance surveillance drones is believed to have crashed into the sea during a flight Tuesday off the country's northwestern coast.
There were no immediate details on the nature of the mission of the uncrewed RQ-4B aircraft, also known as Global Hawk. So far, there was no indication of foul play, but officials said the cause of the presumed crash was under investigation.
The Air Self-Defense Force said the drone had trouble connecting with a communication device about one and a half hours after taking off from the Misawa Air Base. Three minutes later, it disappeared from the radar and was last seen 50 kilometers (31 miles) off the coast of Tottori, the ASDF said.
Later Tuesday, a fighter jet and a **** an Coast Guard patrol ship spotted debris believed to be from the Global Hawk. After examining photos of the debris, the ASDF said the drone is believed to have crashed just after disappearing from the radar.
The cause of the Global Hawk's presumed crash is still under investigation, the ASDF said. There have been no reports of injury or damage related to the crash.

On August 5, Kinetik Holdings Inc. (NYSE:KNTK) reported the strongest quarterly results in company history and raised its full-year 2026 guidance. The Permian-focused midstream operator posted net income, including noncontrolling interest, of $123.1 million for the quarter ended June 30, while Adjusted EBITDA climbed to $280.8 million. Management didn't stop at celebrating the number. It used the quarter as the launchpad for a string of expansion decisions that stretch out to 2028.
The Midstream Logistics segment, Kinetik's largest, grew Adjusted EBITDA 35% year over year to $204.8 million in the second quarter, even though processed natural gas volumes held flat at 1.74 Bcf/d. That flat number actually undersells the quarter. It came despite roughly 250 million cubic feet per day of gas that had been shut in because of weak Waha-area pricing, with stronger natural gas liquid recoveries, condensate yields, and favorable commodity spreads carrying the segment instead.
Management is betting the growth continues well past 2026. In May, Kinetik reached a final investment decision on Kings Landing II, a roughly $260 million project that will lift sour gas processing capacity across the company's Delaware North complex above 700 MMcf/d and push total system capacity to 2.7 Bcf/d when it comes online in mid-2028, earlier than previously communicated. The ECCC Pipeline, which links the system's northern and southern halves between Eddy and Culberson Counties, is now in service, and right-of-way work has already begun on a follow-on expansion for 2027.
Kinetik also locked in new firm Gulf Coast access for residue gas starting in 2027 and signed fresh natural gas liquids transport agreements, both aimed at getting better prices for the gas it moves. On the back of that momentum, Kinetik raised its full-year 2026 Adjusted EBITDA guidance to a range of $1.04 billion to $1.1 billion, a 7% ***** p from the guidance it issued in February.
Not every part of the business is moving in the same direction. The Pipeline Transportation segment posted Adjusted EBITDA of $83.0 million in the quarter, down 14% year over year, a decline the company attributes to last year's divestiture of its equity stake in EPIC Crude Holdings. That sale removed a source of cash flow the rest of the business now has to make up for. Kinetik also expects gas curtailments to keep running at an average of 25 million cubic feet per day through the second half of 2026, on top of the Waha-driven shut-ins that already weighed on the quarter. Its own pricing ***** umptions underline the regional problem: the company is now modeling Waha Hub natural gas at negative $0.26 per MMBtu for the full year, meaning gas in parts of the Permian is priced so low that moving it out of the basin is the whole game.

(NewsNation) — The family of an Alaskan boy who survived four days at sea wants the world to know what they say kept him alive: prayer.
Fifteen-year-old Parker of Savoonga, Alaska set out with his older brother Sidney Kulowiyi, 35, and their cousin, Barton Rookok, 34, to fish for halibut on September 4, according to Anchorage Daily News. They planned on returning in the early hours of September 6. When they didn't return, search and rescue efforts were launched.
US Air Force officer reveals his prayer after getting shot down in Iran
On Monday, around 10:30am, the Coast Guard spotted Parker around 10:30 a.m. on top of the capsized vessel in the Bering Sea and asked another boat to pick him up.
According to Alaska's News Source, their 18-foot skiff capsized after a fishing line got tangled in the motor. The boy's older brother Sidney reportedly got caught in the line and was pulled under the ship.

AL executive reveals why Phillies are serious World Series contenders originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Philadelphia Phillies have had a bit of a roller coaster of a 2026 season. It's been hard to get a real gauge for what this team really is. Are they a real contender, or are they an inconsistent team that cannot be trusted when it matters most?
Both sides have strong arguments, but in the eyes of one American League executive, there are five strong reasons why the Phillies are legitimate ***** le contenders this season.
Jesse Rogers of ESPN shared the comment from an AL executive on the Phillies, who highlighted five players as reasons why the Phillies can contend for a ***** le this season.
"I know how good the Dodgers and Brewers are, but I'm not betting against [Cristopher] Sanchez, [Zack] Wheeler and [Jesus] Luzardo -- not to mention Bryce [Harper] and [Kyle] Schwarber," this anonymous AL executive told Rogers.

A month after the death of Hayden Panettiere, the investigation into how the "Heroes" and "Nashville" actress died now reportedly spans two coasts.
Panettiere died Aug. 16 at an apartment complex in Greenville, South Carolina, police confirmed to USA TODAY, while a 911 call obtained by Reuters, TMZ and other outlets revealed the "Scream" franchise actress was in cardiac arrest after a possible overdose. Days after her death, the Drug Enforcement Adminstration joined the investigation.
Now, investigators in both Los Angeles and South Carolina are focused on identifying what drugs may have contributed to her death and where those drugs came from, according to ABC News, citing unnamed sources.

Argentina's state-controlled energy company YPF is close to signing several LNG sales agreements for its planned Argentina LNG project as it races toward a final investment decision later this year.
YPF CEO Horacio Marín said at the Gastech conference in Bangkok that the company expects to sign two or three LNG contracts covering between 0.5 million and 1.5 million tonnes per year each. YPF aims to have the agreements secured before partners make a final investment decision in November.
The $24-billion Argentina LNG development, backed by YPF, Italy's Eni and Abu Dhabi's XRG, is designed to turn the vast Vaca Muerta shale formation into a major source of LNG for international markets.
The initial development will feature two floating LNG facilities with combined capacity of 12 million tonnes per year, with potential expansion to 18 million tonnes. A dedicated 527-kilometer pipeline will transport gas from Vaca Muerta to the Atlantic coast in Río Negro province. YPF says the development will also include gas treatment and liquids infrastructure.
Eni and XRG each hold approximately 32% interests in the upstream blocks feeding the development, with YPF holding 36%.

It has been a rollercoaster year for the "Magnificent Seven" stocks, the name given to tech ******* ans Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Tesla, and Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META). Of the group, only Meta and Tesla are in the red for the year, down 1.2% and 18.8%, respectively, through market close on Sept. 10.
Both have their fair share of issues, but Meta is a struggling stock that seems to have plenty of upside from its current level. And if history is any indication of what's possible, you may regret not investing while it's having an off year.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
No single issue is dragging down Meta's stock; it's a combination of factors, with the two main ones being its AI spending and its ongoing regulatory issues.
This year, Meta is slated to spend between $130 billion and $145 billion on AI-related projects, such as building data centers and other infrastructure. In the second quarter (Q2), it spent $31 billion, which, for perspective, is more than all but 26 public companies have made in profits in their past four quarters combined.

Orioles 3 Jays 7
That was a much better game.
The Jays went up 2-zip in the first. Brett Bateman started the game with a walk, and scored on Vladimir Guerrero's double off the wall. Then Alejandro Kirk singled Vlad home.
And we got three more in the third. Bateman started this inning with a home run. George Springer singled and, an out later, Kirk homered. 5-0 and we could coast.
We got one in the sixth: Josh Smith was hit by pitch and Andrés Giménez doubled him home. We should have scored more that inning, but on a single Giménez rounded third, and, after Orioles third baseman faked a throw to first, tossed to SS Christian Encarnacion-Strand (covering third) and Giménez was tagged out. Not good baserunning, but that seems to be a theme lately.

PAWTUCKET – Jim Fleming wasn't interested in capping his team's best drive of the day with a field goal.
A short kick would have meant the lead early in the fourth quarter at Centreville Bank Stadium, but the University of Rhode Island coach felt more was needed. The Rams hadn't come all the way out from their own 2 to settle.
Terrence Campbell smashed up the middle from 1 yard out, a touchdown that served as fuel for No. 8 URI over the final 15 minutes. What was a frustrating, tense start to this Coastal Athletic ***** ociation opener with Elon wound up a relatively comfortable victory.
The Rams forced five turnovers and finally found some offensive rhythm in the second half while posting a 31-10 triumph on brilliant Saturday afternoon, Sept. 12. That's now 16 straight for URI in home games, and this temporary residence while Meade Stadium undergoes its extensive renovation was christened properly.
"You were wondering what the heck was going on in the first half," Fleming said. "As is representative of this group, they continue to go ahead and find ways."

Lowry's surge to the top of the leaderboard has further energised the tournament.
The 39-year-old won his home Open in 2009 as an amateur and claimed his only major on Irish soil at Royal Portrush seven years ago.
However, Lowry has one only won one individual event since.

There is a particular kind of quiet that follows a quarterback who hasn't needed to be loud. Marcus Washington Jr. throws touchdowns the way some kids collect grades—steadily, without much fuss, until one day the transcript is too good to ignore. The three-star, 2029 First Team MaxPreps All-American out of Cajon (Calif.), has spent this season quietly ******* embling one of the most productive stat lines in the country, and this weekend he trades the Southern California sun for the SEC's version of theater when he makes his way back to Lexington for Kentucky football's showdown with Alabama at Kroger Field.
Call it a homecoming, even if his mailing address says otherwise. Washington camped in the Bluegrass this past summer, and the visit left a mark. He is coming back not as a tourist, but as a young man doing due diligence on a decision that will shape the next four years of his life—and doing it the way the good ones always have, on his own clock, gathering information instead of chasing headlines.
THE NUMBERS DON'T WHISPER.
Whatever Washington is doing quietly, the box score is not. Last week alone he was 14 of 25 for 219 yards and a touchdown through the air, then shredded the edges for 138 yards and four more scores on the ground—the kind of two-way workload that makes opposing coordinators lose sleep and college recruiters lose their composure. Through three games this fall, he has piled up 1,176 total yards and 13 touchdowns, a pace that reads less like a high school box score and more like a mid-major Saturday.
Numbers like that don't need adjectives. They need context, and the context is this: Washington isn't just a runner who can throw or a thrower who can run. He is a West Coast problem that programs from four time zones away are now trying to solve, and Kentucky is convinced it has the answer.

Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford met his wife, Ally McBeal actress Calista Flockhart, in 2002.
The couple got engaged in 2009 and tied the knot over a year later. Ford, who is a dad to four children from his two previous marriages, also adopted Flockhart's son, Liam.
They've been supporting each other's careers over the years, with color-coordinated red carpet appearances and sweet shoutouts in acceptance speeches.
Back in 2002, Harrison Ford wasn't on Calista Flockhart's radar. "I remember loving him on Mosquito Coast, but I really didn't think about him," the actress said of Ford at the time. But that all changed after they met at the 59th Golden Globes with a meet-cute straight out of a '90s rom-com. Ford officially caught Flockhart's attention when he accidentally spilled wine on her dress mid-conversation. The comical moment apparently sealed the deal for Flockhart, and the two began dating from that point on.
"I'm in love. Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love, and I think there is a potential for it at any stage of your life," Ford said in a 2003 interview, a year after meeting Flockhart. "I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn't surprised that I did."

BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraq's government raced Saturday to contain the fallout after local Iran-backed militias were accused of attacking and shuttering a key Saudi pipeline.
Though an umbrella group of Iran-backed militias in Iraq denied their involvement, Iraq's government confirmed the attacks had originated from its territory. The government pledged to investigate and dismissed two senior officials.
The country is under mounting pressure to prevent local militias from aiding other Iran proxy groups across the region. The Iraqi government has set a Sept. 30 deadline for nonstate groups to disarm, but several of the most powerful militias have said they will not comply.
Pressure to disarm the militias is especially acute as the Iran-backed Houthi rebels make an advance across Yemen's west coast in a major setback to the Saudi-backed coalition that risks escalating the war in the region. The Houthis on Friday seized an island in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a key shipping lane through which around 12% of global trade passes.
Their virtual control of the strait could send global oil prices — already inflated by the six-month Iran-U.S. war — spiraling. The strait has become a vital commercial lane for Saudi oil ever since the Iran war disrupted shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

The desperate pleas for air cover from Yemeni generals started coming mid-morning on Thursday. An advance by the Iran-backed Houthis toward Yemen's strategic port city of Mocha was in full swing, and backup support from chief ally Saudi Arabia was nowhere in sight.
"The Houthis committed everything they had – waves upon waves of fighters … along with their available ballistic missiles and weapons," a senior Yemeni source attached to their military forces told CNN. The source said he contacted the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) and was ******* ured the US was "watching the situation closely and that Saudi air support was coming."
"But the air support never came," the source said. "And Mocha has now fallen."
Hours later, on Friday, the Houthis captured another key coastal ******* et, Perim Island, at the mouth of the Red Sea. The island splits the Bab al-Mandeb Strait in two, giving Tehran de facto control over another key shipping route.
The Houthis' rapid advance amounts to an extraordinary 36 hours in a conflict that had been largely on ice for years. But the kindling for renewed fighting had been laid for months amid the conflict between the United States and Iran, as Tehran seeks to use oil prices – and their impact on the global economy – as leverage.

Northern Trust Corporation (NASDAQ:NTRS) announced on September 7 that Warwickshire Pension Fund had appointed it to provide global custody, valuation reporting, capital call execution and performance measurement. The UK public pension fund has approximately £3.6 billion, or $4.8 billion, in ****** ets.
The appointment strengthens the pension-servicing franchise of Northern Trust Corporation (NASDAQ:NTRS). Contract duration and fees were not disclosed in the announcement. The investment question is whether the relationship can generate meaningful recurring revenue and support further wins.
Scale sets the hurdle. Northern Trust Corporation (NASDAQ:NTRS) reported $20.0 trillion of ****** ets under custody or administration at June 30. Warwickshire's ****** ets equal approximately 0.024% of that base. The pension ****** ets represent a servicing opportunity, with revenue depending on the services provided and contractual pricing.
Northern Trust Corporation (NASDAQ:NTRS) won responsibility for several connected functions. Combining custody, valuation reporting, and performance measurement could make the relationship more embedded in the fund's operations. Capital call execution also provides a role in supporting private-market investments.
Warwickshire is one of 18 partner funds in Border to Coast Pensions Partnership. For Northern Trust Corporation (NASDAQ:NTRS), successful delivery could provide a reference for additional pension mandates. The opportunity lies in repeating the service model across clients and expanding relationships as operational needs evolve.

The Nats have been a chore to watch the last month and a half. We really saw that on display during an 0-6 west coast trip. Many of the games were close, but the Nats consistently found ways to lose. That is just what they have been doing lately. Hopefully that can change at home against the Angels.
With a lefty on the mound, Daylen Lile is actually out of the lineup. The outfield will be Dylan Crews, Jacob Young and James Wood. Andres Chaparro will get the DH duties, with Yohandy Morales at first base. With Nasim Nunez on the bereavement list, CJ Abrams will be at shortstop. Harry Ford will do the catching in this one. Nats ace Cade Cavalli will look to snap the losing streak.

Over the last couple of years, we've seen the same players who helped make Juventus Women what they have become over their first decade of existence head out on new adventures one by one. For much of that Italian core, it has involved a move to the United States and the NWSL. First there was Sofia Cantore and Lisa Boattin, then Cristiana Girelli head to the West Coast and the sunny weather of California.
Now, we have the latest pillar of the Bianconere's past heading across the Atlantic to play outside of Italy for the first time in her very accomplished career.
The club announced on Friday that Italian winger Barbara Bonansea — one of the final pieces of the original Juventus Women roster to still be playing in Turin — is heading to the United States and joining the San Diego Wave on loan. As part of the move, the 35-year-old Bonansea extended her contract with Juve until 2028. But she is now very much an NWSL player, and much like when Girelli joined Bay FC, it will be one that sees her join one of the best leagues in the world for more than just the current campaign.
The loan move, as of now, will run through June 2027, according to the Wave's press release announcing the signing.
With BB heading to San Diego and the sunny beaches that come with it, that now leaves just two original pieces of the Bianconere's ******* le-winning debut side still on the roster: Martina Rosucci and Cecilia Salvai.

The ****** o Foxi founder shared new details about her relationship with Vaughan in a new interview, including the profound words she said to him when they crossed paths again. Both Moakler and Vaughan have been married before, but would she consider getting married again if it were to Vaughan?

Moakler couldn't help but gush over the Beyond the Gates star. "He's my good old boy, my Southern gentleman. He's everything," she raved.
The couple first met as models in Miami. At the time, Moakler had just graduated from high school. For its Q3 FY26, ABM Industries Inc. (NYSE:ABM) posted a record topline figure of $2.3 billion. With year-over-year acquisitive growth and organic expansion of 2.1% each, the total jump in sales was 4.2%. The company's adjusted EBITDA for the quarter climbed 11% to $139.6 million, compared to Q3 FY25. Adjusted net income stood at $61.5 million, exhibiting a 19% growth and translating into an adjusted diluted EPS of $1.04. ABM generated operating cash flows for the third quarter totaling $146.8 million, while free cash flow stood at $128.4 million.
Dmitry Kalinovsky/Shutterstock.com
Third quarter print revealed that majority of the topline growth was concentrated across the company's Aviation, and Manufacturing & Distribution (M&D) segments, which expanded 12.5% and 17.6% respectively. Performance within the M&D segment was driven by strong technology market trends, with further support coming from ABM's acquisition of WGNstar. Aviation segment got a boost from robust demand for air travel and healthy progress around the company's newly secured London Heathrow contract.
Prudent cost management resulted in around $3 million reduction in ongoing corporate costs compared to the previous year. Overall growth in bottom line can be attributed to higher operating profits across most segments, a lower tax bill, and cut down in corporate overhead. Some of these were offset by rising interest burden due to the financing of the WGNstar transaction. The company's share buyback initiative was another factor that led to a 25% rise in diluted EPS for the quarter.
The Education segment's revenue held steady. Business & Industry (B&I) slipped 2.6%, largely in line with expectations, due to the previously disclosed loss of a major UK client and ongoing weakness along the US west coast. Technical Solutions (ATS) growth was hampered by certain deferred projects.

In the days leading up to this season-opening NFC West matchup, the discourse surrounding the game was less about the players on the field, and more about the way they'd get there from the United States. With the game set to take place in Melbourne on Friday morning local time, each team tried a different approach to account for the 17-hour time difference from California (where it was still Thursday afternoon). The Niners flew out of San Francisco last Wednesday to get acclimated to the new time zone and have a full week of practice. The Rams, meanwhile, did not fly in until the day before the game, with the thought of keeping their players' biological clocks on West Coast time.
It became clear that the Week 1 affair would be a referendum on the superior preparation approach, and, at first, it certainly looked like the Rams made the smarter choice. They were dominant early and scored the game's first touchdown. Los Angeles even made fun of the whole debate early in the second quarter after a bad Brock Purdy pick. The whole defense celebrated in the end zone with players taking a nap on the grass.
However, it proved to be a bit early to spike the proverbial football. The Rams followed up with an inexplicable interception of their own, and the Niners drove 86 yards down the field for their first touchdown of the game. From there, things completely fell apart for Los Angeles as the Raheem Morris-led Niners defense kept the Rams from doing anything, and Kyle Shanahan's offense somehow turned Myles Garrett - the biggest acquisition in the NFL this offseason - completely invisible. San Francisco scored 24 straight points, including seven from a 99-yard drive down the field, and even forced two more turnovers.
Linebacker Fred Warner even gave a response of his own, getting a Steph Curry-style night-night celebration off in his first game since fracturing his ankle last season.
