Every sport has its unwritten rules, and one of the most universal is simple: Don't give your opponent "bulletin-board material." Don't say something that can be printed out, slapped on a wall, and pointed to by a coach looking for a little extra motivation. Don't give the other team a reason to make the game personal.
In the end, almost anything can be twisted into locker-room material in one way or another. When Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back Zyon McCollum was asked how he felt about playing against one of the most talented offenses in the league in Week 1, he had plenty of ways he could have answered.
And he made a decision.
"We're going to have opportunities, guaranteed opportunities," he said when asked about his Week 1 opponents. "I mean, they want to get their season started off right. They want to get in rhythm early, so the ball is guaranteed to go in the air. And a ball in the air belongs to us. You know, that's the mentality that we have. That's what we're going into the game thinking. We know we're going to get tested early, so it's an incredible opportunity for us.
"There will be no better feeling than when we take away three, four interceptions."

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — More than half a million Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine since the start of Moscow's full-scale invasion in February 2022, a senior British defense official said Friday.
The dead are part of 1.5 million Russian casualties in Ukraine, Air Chief Marshall Sir Richard Knighton, Chief of the U.K's Defense Staff, said.
The U.K. figures roughly coincide with those published by the Ukrainian military. There was no immediate comment from Russian officials.
Moscow's bigger army is struggling to make headway on the battlefield. Western officials and ***** ysts say the Russian rate of advance has slowed significantly this year.
Russia's armed forces have also lost an "enormous" amount of military materiel, Knighton told reporters. That includes more than 10,000 armored and protected vehicles, close to 3,000 air defense and artillery systems, and over 370 aircraft and helicopters, Knighton said.

BOSTON, Sept 11 (Reuters) - A federal judge on Friday blocked U.S. President Donald Trump's administration from continuing to ask applicants for civil service jobs throughout the government to respond to ‌what unions described as a partisan "loyalty question."
U.S. District Judge George O'Toole in Boston sided with three ‌unions representing government workers who sued last year after the administration began asking applicants for nonpartisan federal jobs to write essays explaining how they would help advance Trump's policies and executive orders.
The unions, including the American Federation of Government Employees, argued the question mandated by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) unlawfully politicized the hiring process for career government workers by attempting to **** s their support for the Republican president.
O'Toole, an appointee of Democratic President Bill Clinton, said the question had been asked of ‌applicants to positions ranging from an ⁠air traffic control specialist to a crane operator to a nuclear materials courier.

There's no doubt who the biggest star for Texas is right now. Arch Manning is the projected top pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, and likely would have been the first pick in April's draft had he declared.
After opening up last season throwing for 170 yards and a touchdown against Ohio State, Manning finished the season with 26 passing touchdowns and 3,163 yards, while adding 10 rushing touchdowns. Manning is one of the favorites to win this year's Heisman Trophy.
The biggest acquisition for Texas in the transfer portal during the offseason was wide receiver Cam Coleman from Auburn. In two seasons with the Tigers, Coleman grabbed 93 passing touchdowns for over 1,300 yards and 13 scores.
In his first game in the burnt orange, Coleman hauled in three passes for 70 yards, finding the end zone twice. The junior is expected to be in the mix for the Biletnikoff Award this season, trying to keep up with Ohio State wideout Jeremiah S,it's in their pursuit for the honor.

Texas A&M football's toughest non-conference game is here, as Arizona State visits Saturday in a clash between the Southeastern Conference and the Big 12.
The Aggies got off to a slow start in Week 1 before demolishing the Missouri State Bears 50-0. A&M quarterback Marcel Reed threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns on 21-of-30 passing, while the defense forced three fumbles and gave up 67 yards of offense.

The Sun Devils should be a much bigger challenge. Head coach Kenny Dillingham has led his alma mater to a 19-8 record over the past two seasons, including a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024. Egyptian television presenter Sarah Khalifa has been sentenced to death, but the Sept. 5 judgment does not end her legal fight.
A Cairo Criminal Court sentenced the 39-year-old presenter and 11 other defendants to death after convicting them in a major synthetic-drug manufacturing and trafficking case. Prosecutors had charged 28 people in connection with the alleged network.
Khalifa has repeatedly denied involvement. Her lawyer, Mohamed El-Gendy, now says she is expected to sign appeal papers Tuesday, Sept. 15, beginning another stage in a case that has drawn attention far beyond Egypt.
Egypt changed its felony appeals system in 2024. A Felony Appeals Court can reconsider the evidence, the prosecution's case and the role attributed to each defendant before a death sentence becomes final.
The Cairo Criminal Court convicted Khalifa and 11 co-defendants of participating in an organized criminal group involved in obtaining materials used to manufacture synthetic narcotics for trafficking.

One could call it chance or call it fate, but there's little doubt that it required quite a bit of good fortune for the Chicago Bears to wind up with Caleb Williams as their No. 1 quarterback. As they prepare to meet the Carolina Panthers in this weekend's season opener, the trade history of the two franchises is back in the spotlight.
The Bears famously sent the No. 1 overall pick to the Panthers back in 2023. In return, they acquired the Panthers' first and second-round picks in 2023, another first-round pick in 2024, a 2025 second-round pick, and wide receiver D.J. Moore. Moore is, of course, now in Buffalo, but mainstays in Darnell Wright, Tyrique Stevenson, and Luther Burden III remain key components of the 2026 squad.
The ability to draft Williams the following year, however, remains the most crucial part of the deal that allowed the Panthers to select Bryce Young atop that 2023 draft. The two quarterbacks enter the new season with differing development paths and outside perceptions, but Williams, for his part, expressed gratitude over how things materialized.

Two cybersecurity heavyweights, Rubrik, Inc. (NYSE:RBRK) and CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD), both released Q2 FY2027 earnings in late August/early September while deepening their strategic alliance. On September 1, the companies announced a joint agentic identity resilience workflow orchestrated by CrowdStrike's Charlotte Agentic SOAR. By uniting CrowdStrike's Falcon Next-Gen Identity Security with Rubrik's Identity Resilience, joint customers can now detect, investigate, and recover from compromised identity environments in hours instead of days.

CrowdStrike continues to operate at a massive scale with strong cash generation and expanding margins. For Q2 FY2027, CrowdStrike reported total revenue of $1.47 billion, up 26% year-over-year, with annual recurring revenue (ARR) reaching $5.84 billion (up 25%) after adding a record $333 million in net new ARR. GAAP net income turned positive at $5.3 million ($0.01 per diluted share), while non-GAAP net income reached $322.9 million ($0.31 per diluted share). Operating cash flow hit a Q2 record of $530.3 million, with free cash flow reaching $377.4 million. Expanding its momentum, CrowdStrike announced a partnership with OpenAI on September 2 to secure Codex agents and integrate GPT-5.6 Cyber into Falcon, prompting Raymond James to raise its price target to $250 from $240 on September 3, citing an "AI double whammy."
Rubrik, meanwhile, represents the hyper-growth challenger outperforming Wall Street's top-line expectations. For Q2 FY2027, Rubrik's total revenue surged 38% year-over-year to $427.3 million (up 43% when normalized for material rights), while Subscription ARR grew 33% to $1.66 billion. While GAAP net loss per share narrowed to $(0.30), Rubrik achieved non-GAAP net income per share of $0.20 ($0.47–$0.53 guidance for full FY27). Operating cash flow reached $76.8 million, generating $65.7 million in free cash flow. While CrowdStrike holds the stronger overall financial profile given its $5.84 billion ARR scale and $377.4 million free cash flow generation, Rubrik leads in top-line growth velocity.
CrowdStrike's bull case rests on its leadership in endpoint and identity security, proven GAAP and non-GAAP profitability, and deep AI integrations with platforms such as OpenAI and Charlotte AI, which could drive further platform consolidation and high-margin ARR growth. However, slower percentage growth compared with younger peers, elevated valuation multiples, and lingering customer scrutiny following past software update disruptions remain key risks.

Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE) is asking designers who use Figma, Inc. (NYSE:FIG) and similar tools to help test Project Oasis, a web-based graphic-design tool with brand-aware AI. The September 7 community invitation seeks feedback under a nondisclosure agreement before public launch. That makes it an early competitive signal, with neither customer wins nor meaningful revenue established.
The investment question is whether easier AI design draws marketing budgets toward Adobe or encourages customers to do more inside Figma. Both already serve people creating branded visual material. Winning that workflow could support subscriptions and paid AI usage, but another tool also gives customers another reason to compare prices.

Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE) reported fiscal second-quarter revenue of $6.62 billion, up 13%, for the period ended May 29. Its AI-first annualized recurring revenue exceeded $500 million and more than tripled year over year. Those figures give its AI strategy substance beyond a product invitation. Its established creative customer base could also make testing and distribution easier.
The risk is that product experimentation fails to produce additional spending. Adobe must persuade customers that new capabilities deserve payment while competitors make basic ******* et creation easier. Oasis currently provides no disclosed conversion rate or financial contribution with which investors can test that proposition. Its invitation targets brand-identity and marketing workflows, so success would need to solve repeatable production problems. Generating an attractive demonstration is a different hurdle from becoming the tool a team pays to use every week.

Sponsor-backed direct lending volume and deal count ticked up in the three months ended Aug. 31, recovering from the lows seen in Q2 but remaining below Q1 levels, according to new LCD data.
Direct lenders provided an estimated $28 billion across 124 sponsor-backed deals over the past three months, up from $23 billion across 101 deals in Q2, though still short of Q1's $45 billion across 133 deals, according to the latest US LCD Private Credit Monitor.
On a year-to-date basis, sponsor-backed direct lending volume of $87 billion across 322 deals through August runs 27% behind last year's $120 billion (from 356 deals) over the same period, signaling that sponsors remain cautious even as quarterly activity firms up.
Buyout financing has followed a similar path. Direct lenders backed 50 LBOs for roughly $14 billion over the three months through August, an improvement on Q2's 47 deals and $13 billion but still well below Q1's 56 deals and $23 billion. Year-to-date, direct lending buyout volume of $44 billion across 135 deals trails the $57 billion and 154 deals at the same time last year, suggesting sponsors are still hesitant to launch new platform deals amid the higher-for-longer rate backdrop.
Healthcare sector deals accounted for 20% of new-issue direct lending deals in 2026 year-to-date, versus 18% in full-year 2025. Technology's share of new direct lending deals has fallen to 16% YTD, from 18% for FY 2025, representing the largest drop of any sector over the period. Utilities and building materials both saw large increases, though both sectors sit on small relative bases.

It looks like the American consumer has more to worry about than food recalls and cyclospora—a new study found that even the packaging the food comes in may pose some health concerns.
Out of over 15,000 food contact chemicals (FCCs), 1,222 or 8% can pose serious health risks, according to a recent study published in the peer-reviewed journal Environmental Science & Technology. Some of these FCCs, which in general are "substances that come into contact with food, such as through food packaging, processing, storage or other handling," per the FDA, were found to be hazardous to human health.
Researchers from the nonprofit Food Packaging Forum Foundation, which conducted the study, found at least 2,160 chemicals regularly contact food and "migrate into foodstuffs." Using guidelines from the UN's Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS), researchers found some of the chemicals related to food packaging and other materials were "carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic to reproduction, harmful to specific organs after repeated exposure, [and] endocrine disrupting."
That's not the only concerning part. The researchers found that 13,211 of the 15,159 known food-contact chemicals lacked harmonized hazard data. That means the scientists could not determine from the available data whether those chemicals met the study's criteria for being hazardous.
"There's a lot of ways of establishing whether something is hazardous or not, and some methods are based very much just on computer models, looking at the structure, predicting something. And others are based on in vitro tests," Dr. Helene Wiesinger, scientific communication officer at the nonprofit and one of the researchers on the study, told Fortune. "And in some sense, the data that we used?' So this is the data we used, and the problem we ran into at that point was that there were huge data lags."

Chanel shoppers are known to be a discerning bunch, but artist Tom Sachs has created an unauthorized replica of the luxury house's sought-after Paris boutique in lower Manhattan.

Located in Sachs' studio at 245 Centre Street, the phony Chanel store has a sign with 31 Rue Cambon on its front door, and a black Chanel-esque ensemble in one street-front window and a red one in the other. During a pass-by Monday night, the studio's security grates were down and a sign on the front door read, "NOTICE BY ENTERING YOU ARE TO BE RECORDED."

Media requests to Sachs were unreturned.

Although Sachs' outpost has a sign with what looks like a handwritten version of Chanel's proprietary interlocked "CC" monogram, the designer label has not been involved in the project in any way. A Chanel spokesperson said Thursday, "Chanel is not involved in this project, and we did not participate in its conception or development. This is not part of the cultural [programs] that Chanel supports around the world and has no affiliation with Chanel."

Scheduled to open Friday and to run through Oct. 10, Sachs' store will have highly limited access — with hours set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. The artist's body of work includes jabs at consumerism, materialism, logomania and high-low dressing. His Centre Street studio's new faux Chanel outpost is prismatic in a few ways, including the fact that his ****** e is a short walk to Canal Street where counterfeit goods are sold in abundance.

Sachs' faux boutique coincides with the $20 billion Chanel's accelerating growth and shoppers' fervor for fashion artistic director Matthieu Blazy's designs. Chanel hauls have gone viral, thanks to influencers like Elle Ferguson, who posted in March about traveling 30 hours to get the other Chanel bag of the season — the maxi flap bag in shearling. (She already had scored the mini rectangular bag in gold.) TikTokers like Mikayla Nogueira are sharing their much-coveted loot too with followers.

Asked about the potential impact of Sachs' project on Chanel, Luca Solca, global luxury goods ****** yst at Bernstein, said Thursday, "Imitation is the best form of flattery. This seems to confirm how powerful Chanel has grown into our collective perception."

The New York-based Sachs focuses on recreating modern icons with everyday objects like plywood, including Le Corbusier's 1952 Unite d'Habitation with foam core and a glue gun or variations of NASA's ****** ecraft like the Lunar Module. His unyielding tongue-in-cheek career narrative touches on craftsmanship, luxury and nihilism.
In 1998, his notoriety or fame rose with the creation of a Chanel-type guillotine. What's a birthday party without confetti and a few tears? There were certainly both at Coach's Spring 2027 show, at which the brand celebrated its 85th anniversary. But while eight and a half decades in business is a pretty big deal, creative director Stuart Vevers wasn't interested in a mere anniversary spectacle rehashing the label's greatest hits. Instead, he used the milestone as a chance to revisit the pieces and ideas that have come to define Coach by pulling them apart (quite literally in some cases—see the Inside-Out Brooklyn Tote) and putting them back together in ways that felt totally fresh.
"I didn't want to make a retrospective," Vevers said in a press release, explaining that his latest collection is centered around the concept of memory, and the way familiar things change and evolve as we live with them. After 85 years, Coach has plenty of history to draw from, but Vevers isn't interested in preserving it with museum-level precision. He'd rather draw straight from the source material and turn it into something simultaneously familiar and brand new.
To that end, the show opened with hallmark Coach silhouettes rendered in cool neutrals: oversized trench coats, tailored jackets, structured leather bags, and chunky pendants, all in shades of dove gray, black, white, soft brown, and natural leather. Some of the tailoring was made from garment-dyed, sun-faded jersey, which gave a blazer or trench coat's shape a hoodie-like softness. It was a clever way of presenting Coach's heritage in a manner that felt lived-in rather than preserved behind glass, as if these brand signatures had been worn, washed, and loved over the course of many years. Meanwhile, bias-cut dresses and skirts came in everything from repurposed lining fabrics and overdyed georgette to denim and lamé, adding another layer of innovation to the line-up.

Midway through the show, the parade of earth tones gave way to something much brighter and bolder. Models took to the catwalk in head-to-toe sequin dresses and maxi-skirt sets in powder pink, periwinkle, mint, and metallics. Alongside them came gift boxes reimagined as purses, leather birthday hats, and crowns, pushing the subtle anniversary theme into a full-blown party motif.

BERLIN (AP) — The Swiss federal intelligence service on Thursday published a 200-page dossier on the notorious ******* war criminal Josef Mengele, the German doctor known as the "Angel of Death" for conducting horrific medical experiments on prisoners at Auschwitz.
During World War II, Mengele served at the Auschwitz extermination camp in ******* -occupied Poland, where about 1.1 million people were killed, approximately 1 million of them Jews. He became infamous for carrying out brutal medical experiments on inmates, including children, under the guise of scientific research.
After the war, Mengele obtained a Red Cross travel document under a false identity, allowing him to leave Europe. Like many former ******* officials, he spent years in hiding in Latin America while being pursued internationally for his crimes. He drowned in 1979 while swimming on the coast of Brazil.
The documents released by Swiss authorities include material provided to police suggesting that Mengele may have returned to Switzerland after initially fleeing Germany, or may have been planning to enter the country under a false name, according to the German news agency dpa.
Historians seeking to establish whether Mengele spent time in Switzerland while being pursued as a war criminal, without Swiss authorities catching him, had long sought access to the files.
