The UK's first national day for victims and survivors of terrorism is being held in London on Friday where those affected by the violence of the Troubles will be in attendance.
The day aims to recognise people impacted by terrorism including victims and their families, witnesses and the emergency services, as well as raising awareness about specialist support.
For the rest of the UK, these could be terror attacks such as the London Bridge terror attack, the Manchester Arena attack in 2017 or the 7/7 bombings.
But in Northern Ireland, many will be remembering the atrocities of the Troubles, which lasted 30 years and cost the lives of more than 3,500 people.
The government said it introduced the national day for victims and survivors of terrorism following campaigning from victims and survivors for better recognition of their lived experiences.

Sandra Lee returns to her old home, the Westchester estate that she once shared with ex-boyfriend and former governor Andrew Cuomo. The author criticized the current owners, calling them "Lazy" over landscaping.
Sandra Lee, who visited the Westchester Estate that she shared with her ex-boyfriend, criticized their current owners. She roasted the current owners, saying their landscaping is "lazy" and "tragic."
The cookbook author criticized the owners of the Westchester Estate known as Lily Pond, which she sold in 2020 for $1.85 million. She took to Instagram to share a video of the yard, criticizing the owners. The post drew backlash on the internet for her repeated comments on current estate owners.
According to Page Six, Lee complained about the property's landscaping, including weeds, overgrown plants, and trees with missing branches.
While filming the property, she said, "It's awful. It makes me so sad. Look at this disaster. I can't believe it. You can't even see the boxwood."

Roberto De Zerbi held his first press conference ahead of Saturday's Premier League opening match at Brentford. While the press conference was overshadowed slightly by the fresh news that an agreement has been reached with Manchester City for the purchase of Savinho, there was still plenty to talk about in the match.
For starters, as mentioned previously RDZ named the new Tottenham Hotspur leadership group, which includes Micky van de Ven as club captain, along with Pedro Porro, Ben Davies, James Maddison, and Archie Gray as vice captains. But two of that group will not feature tomorrow vs. Brentford — Micky and Porro were both ruled out of contention, as was Pape Matar Sarr.
"Micky is not on the list tomorrow like Pedro Porro. James Maddison is inside [it], Solanke inside, Udogie, Fernandes also. Sarr not because he felt some pain, but nothing big. Kudus is almost ready.
"Today [Micky] worked with us, with the group and he is going very well. He suffered a problem during the pre-season of Australia, I don't know if it was the flight, but not a big problem. We have Senesi, we have Ben Davies and in the right condition to play the game tomorrow."
A lot to unpack there! Spurs have been strangely silent on Micky's absence from preseason, and we all **** umed it was injury related. De Zerbi didn't provide much of an update, but Micky's been in the club socials a LOT lately, and was just named Captain so if there was a major issue we'd probably know about it by now. Sounds like he'll be coming back sooner rather than later. Pedro Porro's absence is likely just fitness related; he only just returned from his post-World Cup break. Sounds like Sarr is just out with a minor knock and the club is being cautious.

England defender Ezri Konsa is on the verge of sealing his move to Premier League champions ******* nal, while Argentina goalkeeper Martinez has told Emery he wants to go.
Morgan Rogers, Lucas Digne and Youri Tielemans have already been sold by Villa since the end of last season, joining Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United respectively.

Arsenal start the defence of their Premier League ******* le on Friday night, and the expectation is obvious. They have already brushed aside Manchester City in the Community Shield, winning 3-0 in Cardiff, and now they open at home against promoted Coventry. Same sky-blue shirts, very different level of threat.
Mikel Arteta's side go into the new campaign as favourites for good reason. They won the league by seven points last season, ended a 22-year wait for the ******* le, and reached the Champions League final. The immediate task is simpler, start fast, stay in control, and avoid handing a newly promoted team encouragement.
Coventry arrive with a different kind of momentum. Frank Lampard guided them back to the top flight after a 25-year absence, and they did it emphatically. While ******* nal finished seven points clear at the top of the Premier League, Coventry won the Championship with 95 points, nine ahead of Ipswich. Promotion earned them a place here, now comes the difficult part.
Arsenal still have defensive issues to manage. William Saliba is set for a lengthy spell out, while Jurrien Timber remains unavailable with a groin problem. That leaves Ben White and Cristhian Mosquera continuing in the back line, with Ezri Konsa still waiting to complete his £51million move from Aston Villa.
There should also be changes from the side that beat City. Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice both began on the bench in that 3-0 win, but are expected to return to the starting XI here. That matters. ******* nal are a different side when both play from the first whistle, one gives them incision, the other gives them authority.

Tottenham have completed one half of their planned double swoop on Manchester City after an agreement was reached for the signing of Savinho, the Press ***** ociation understands.
Brazil winger Savinho has been a long-term target after Spurs failed in efforts to sign him ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
This time around Tottenham have succeeded in their pursuit of the 22-year-old, who will join for an initial fee of £75 million ($102.3 million) plus £10 million in add-ons in what may be a sensational double-transfer, with talks still ongoing with City over forward Omar Marmoush joining the north London club.
Savinho's arrival will take Spurs' summer spend beyond the £300 million mark and delight boss Roberto De Zerbi, who had promised attacking reinforcements were coming.
Tottenham face a race against time to try and complete the signing of Savinho before 12 pm (1100 GMT) on Friday to ensure he can make his debut in Saturday's Premier League opener at Brentford.

Manchester City signed Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace during the January transfer window. Guehi made an immediate impact for Pep Guardiola's side last season and quickly established himself as a valuable piece of Manchester City's defence. Marc Guehi was a late arrival for Manchester City's preseason after his efforts for England at this summer's World Cup. Heading into the 2026-27 season, Guehi's leadership and composure loom as important components of Enzo Maresca's side.
It isn't a stretch to say barely any Manchester City players covered themselves in glory against **** nal in City's 3-0 defeat to **** nal in the FA Community Shield. Enzo Maresca's side looked short of a gallop against an **** nal side that looked determined to send a message. Marc Guehi came on for 37 minutes in the second half and he was by far and away City's best performing defender on the day. Guehi's performance against **** nal isn't the reason why he will be so important for Enzo Maresca. It was just further proof of this.
Marc Guehi is a leader as he was Crystal Palace's captain before he signed for Manchester City. City do need new leaders to emerge in the Enzo Maresca era. Guehi should be one of those despite the fact he has only been at City for less than a year. Marc Guehi isn't a demonstrative figure like Ruben Dias but his quiet manner of leadership should be important to his team.
At the back, and on the ball, Guehi offers the composure that Manchester City need. Abdukodir Khusanov is a better player with Guehi alongside him. The England international is a calming influence in Manchester City's defence. That will be a quality that Enzo Maresca will need to tap into. If you were drawing up Manchester City's best defence, Marc Guehi should be starting in it.
Marc Guehi offers attributes that the Manchester City defence. He is a proven quality centre-back and his composure and leadership will be vital for his team. Guehi looms as a crucial component of Enzo Maresca's side and it is likely that will start to reveal itself as soon as the 2026-27 season begins.

Manchester United will reportedly launch another attempt to sign young Leicester City midfielder Louis Page.
The Red Devils have seemingly completed their midfield revamp, as they're now close to buying Carlos Baleba from Brighton.
The Cameroonian will join a department that features fellow new signings Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, in addition to Kobbie Mainoo, while Tyler Fletcher and his twin brother Jack will offer extra depth when required.
While Man Utd's midfield department looks sorted, the club is also planning for the future. In recent days, it was reported that INEOS made an offer for Louis Page worth around £10 million, but it was rejected by Leicester.
The 18-year-old was promoted to the senior squad last season and went on to make 18 appearances in the Championship.

Manchester City continues to search for midfielders that they can sign to bolster Enzo Maresca's squad. Crystal Palace's England international Adam Wharton was named as a potential target for the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders. Wharton's passing game and quality in possession seem suited to life in a City side. It has now been reported that Manchester City have enquired about the possibility of signing Adam Wharton. However, Crystal Palace appear to have quickly squashed City's hopes of signing Wharton.
David Ornstein and Sam Lee have reported for The Athletic that Manchester City have enquired with Crystal Palace about the potential of signing Adam Wharton this summer. However, Crystal Palace have informed City that they have no intention of selling Wharton this summer. It is also reported that Wharton is one of many candidates City have on their recruitment list. However, the name of those players isn't revealed.
Manchester City are now in a race against time to bolster their squad ahead of the transfer window closing. My personal belief is that City wouldn't be willing to let so many players depart without having a plan in place. That plan is yet to properly reveal itself. However, due to the stage of the transfer window where City are trying to do major work, they may face frustration or be forced to pay a premium.
Crystal Palace's stance on not wanting to sell Adam Wharton is understandable. They will not want to lose such an important player so late in the transfer window. Unless Wharton attempts to engineer an exit from Crystal Palace late in the window, which looks unlikely, City will have to look elsewhere to bolster their midfield. This is a scenario that could be in play for a host of clubs who will not want to lose key players without having the time to sign a replacement. The other possibility is that Manchester City will have to pay a premium to sign players so late in the window which is now a likely scenario which will take place.
Adam Wharton looks set to stay at Crystal Palace. Manchester City's enquiry about signing the England international has been dismissed. City's hunt for quality midfielders continues and it will be a process that will likely drag on until the final day of the transfer window.

A new era of the Premier League begins on Friday as defending champions **** nal kick off what looks to one of the most unpredictable seasons in years.
Pep Guardiola's departure from Manchester City following a decade of dominance coincides with **** nal's return as defending champions for the first time 22 years. Mikel Arteta is now the longest-serving Premier League manager and the relative stability at the Gunners comes in sharp contrast to the upheaval across the top-flight.
Nine Premier League clubs have changed managers over the summer, while Michael Carrick and Roberto De Zerbi begin their first full seasons at Manchester United and Tottenham, respectively. There are many unknowns across the Premier League, with Andoni Iraola taking charge of Liverpool and Xabi Alonso arriving at Chelsea.
Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City were promoted from the Championship last season, replacing the relegated West Ham, Burnley and Wolves, and will hope to take inspiration from a Sunderland side who qualified for Europe last term in their first season back in the top-flight.
How does it play out this time? This is our predicted table...

The Premier League is back, with reigning champions **** nal beginning their **** le defence against last year's Championship winners Coventry City.
Frank Lampard's side have the toughest possible task to kick off their return to the top flight for the first time in over two decades, particularly as the Gunners looked so impressive as they cruised to a 3-0 Community Shield win over a dispirited Manchester City side in their last outing.
Both sides have strengthened in the transfer window, although Coventry have hardly spent big - particularly in comparison to Mikel Arteta's side, who have brought in ex-Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis as well as securing the services of Piero Hincapie permanently after a loan spell last year.
These two sides are expected to finish at opposite ends of the table but Coventry will relish the challenge against the hot favourites for the **** le, while after that long-awaited **** le the current iteration of **** nal will aim to prove they aren't one-hit wonders.

WILLIAMSPORT, PA(WBRE/WYOU)-- The last seven days have been a whirlwind for the twelve year old all-stars from West Chester, PA. The Mid-Atlantic Regional Champions have been on the road since capturing the ***** le Friday, August 14th in Bristol, Connecticut.
East Side Little League Manager Bob Hennessey said, "It's awesome, and the support back home has been unbelievable. Getting messages, texts, social media posts."

The twelve year old tossed five plus innings, allowing just a single run. "They were pretty good. Just pitching to contact and trusting my defense is the key," Cole said.
Warner also scored a run in the 3 to 1 win over Delaware. Ryan Hennessy drove him in with a two RBI hit in the first inning.

Harry Kane put another amazing season to bed and created an extraordinary amount of distance between himself and Europe's other elite goalscorers since joining Bayern Munich. According to Transfermarkt data (as captured by iMiaSanMia), Kane has scored 146 goals in 147 games across all competitions since his move from Tottenham in 2023. No player from Europe's top five leagues has scored more during that span:
Since he joined Bayern 3 years ago, no player from Europe's top 5 leagues has scored more goals than Harry Kane in all competitions [Transfermarkt] pic.twitter.com/MGOpbe4tIV
The gap to the rest of the list is striking. Kylian Mbappé, who played for Paris Saint-Germain and now plays for Real Madrid during this period, ranks second with 130 goals in 151 games, while Manchester City's Erling Haaland has scored 108 in 143 appearances.
Kane's advantage over Mbappé is particularly notable. The Bayern striker has scored 16 more goals despite playing four fewer games, giving him a scoring rate of almost exactly one goal per appearance.
Former VfB Stuttgart and current Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy follows Haaland with 90 goals in 126 games, while former Bayern striker and fellow MLS competitor of Thomas Müller, Robert Lewandowski, ranks fifth with 87 goals in 147 appearances. Lewandowski currently plays for Chicago Fire. Lautaro Martínez, Mohamed Salah, Alexander Sørloth, Vinícius Junior and Julián Álvarez round out the top 10.

This week has been dominated by players either leaving Manchester City or edging closer to an exit from the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders. Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders have left City this week. Savinho is on the verge of completing his 'dream' move to Tottenham. There is also the real possibility that Omar Marmoush and Nico Gonzalez could also depart City before the transfer window closes. Om top of that, Enzo Maresca's side was well beaten by **** nal 3-0 in the FA Community Shield last Sunday. All of these factors combined have seemingly dampened the excitement of a new season beginning.
However, this Sunday the Enzo Maresca era officially gets underway against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium. City will begin a new Premier League season at home. That is an exciting moment in itself. Despite the fact that players have left Manchester City this week and will do before the transfer window closes, Enzo Maresca has enough to work with to ensure that the early stages of the 2026-27 season can begin on a positive note.
Last season saw Pep Guardiola put the building blocks in place for the next era at Manchester City. Building team spirit and teaching the players City hope will continue Guardiola's legacy how to win trophies was the final act of Pep Guardiola as the Manchester City manager. Those lessons will now look to be carried over by Enzo Maresca.
The Enzo Maresca era didn't get off to the best start last weekend. Maresca's first official match in charge ended in a chastening 3-0 defeat to **** nal in the FA Community Shield. Whether or not the Community Shield is an official match or a glorified friendly is a matter of personal opinion. What isn't in dispute is the manner of City's defeat and the departures of key players or impending departures of others have taken focus off a new Premier League season starting this weekend.
Putting all of that aside, Manchester City take on Bournemouth this Sunday at the Etihad Stadium. In terms of what starting eleven Enzo Maresca could select, he has plenty of quality options to choose from. A possible starting eleven of Donnarumma, Khusanov, Dias, Guehi, Gvardiol, Anderson, O'Reilly, Foden, Cherki, **** yo, and Erling Haaland is packed with quality. That seems to have been forgotten throughout this week.

Arsenal open their Premier League ***** le defence against Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium on Friday evening, just days after thrashing Manchester City in the Community Shield.
Mikel Arteta's side head into the new season as champions and heavy favourites against newly promoted opposition. The performance in Cardiff last weekend, capped by Calafiori's goal inside 26 seconds, gave an early indication of the intent Arteta wants to carry into the campaign proper.
William Saliba remains out long-term with a back injury, and Jurrien Timber is sidelined with a groin problem. Bruno Guimarães is a doubt for Friday after being substituted at half-time in the Community Shield with a thigh problem, later seen with an ice pack applied.
Arteta gave little away when asked about his fitness: "Let's see how he is. He's evolving really well, but let's see for tomorrow." Should he not be risked, Myles Lewis-Skelly is the likely replacement in midfield.
Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka are both confirmed fit. The pair returned late from England's deep World Cup run and appeared as substitutes in the Community Shield win over Manchester City — both are now expected to start. Arteta has strongly implied, without confirming outright, that Ezri Konsa's move from Aston Villa is imminent, though the defender will not be involved against Coventry regardless.

At this point, it would be a massive surprise if Harry Kane backed out of talks with Bayern Munich and pushed to leave the club before the transfer window ends.
Even the thought of that seems ludicrous after months of both Kane and club officials saying that the Englishman is not going anywhere. Still, there is another report indicating that FC Barcelona, who does need a striker, is watching Kane's situation from afar:
Barcelona are monitoring Harry Kane's contract talks with Bayern Munich. The England captain is giving priority to resolving his future with the German champions where he is settled and discussions are ongoing about the length of deal for the 33-year-old.
Kane is understood to want a three-year deal and, as Daily Mail Sport revealed earlier this summer, Barca have made their interest known. Al Hilal are also keen on Kane even though they are pursuing Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins too.
There does not seem to be any chance that Kane will leave Bayern Munich, but if there is a smidge of a reason to worry, it would be because Barca has — somehow — just found ways to get deals done this summer. Whether it was swiping Anthony Gordon away from Bayern Munich or convincing Rodri to leave Manchester City and bail on a move to Real Madrid.

What do you do when you achieve something you've wanted for most of your life? That question is pertinent for ****** nal this season. This group of players have done something many of them have wanted to do since they first started playing football. But for many fans, the first ****** le in a generation begs the same question. Will it all mean the same?
A fair warning: this is going to be a lot of navel gazing. This is the first real ****** le that I've wanted. When ****** nal won the league in 2004 it was the third time of my life, the second time in 3 years, and at 10, I just ****** umed it was a thing that happened, like visiting your grandparents. I've written about this before but essentially, it took until I was 13 to realize, no, ****** nal don't win the league every season…and 19 years later ****** nal finally won the league I've wanted us to win. Wanting something for 19 years is interesting in terms of development. Wanting ****** nal to win the league has seen me from ****** rty, school, university, a graduate degree, a second graduate degree, and a career. I've lived in multiple places, but the one constant–aside from some of my best and closest friends–has been wanting ****** nal to win the league. It's been achieved. How do you go again?
For the players, I think it's simple. They'll want more. Bruno Guiamares hasn't won a league ****** le. Nor has Ezri Konsa. Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, and Kai Havertz all have more to give. And the group will want to go again, to become talked about in the way that teams like Manchester United were talked about and to prove bitter, small time people, like the Athletic's Manchester City stenographer Sam Lee, wrong.
And for the fans, I think it'll be similar. First of all, ****** nal have a chance to retain a ****** le, something that hasn't been done since the 1930s. And secondly because when you win, you want more. I've been more rational this summer, calmer during other football matches because I feel satisfied. This season will be different: the conditions that led to the explosion of joy at the end of last season won't exist (unless ****** nal win the Champions League), because ****** nal aren't coming off of a 22-year gap. And maybe the feeling of 19 May means that when ****** nal drop points in November it won't feel like an existential crisis, because the pressure to win, especially after 3 second place finishes, won't be overwhelming. Perhaps that'll be the biggest difference: instead of feeling a deep need to win, to fulfill a lifelong dream, to end the ****** jokes from colleagues and the stupid second again ole ole chants, the desire to win will be because I've loved the feeling of being Champions and want to feel it again next May.

Since arriving at Manchester City in the summer of 2024, Savinho has made 84 appearances, scoring seven goals and contributing sixteen **** ists. Those statistics do tell the story of Savinho as a City player. The Brazilian international needs to improve his end product to become the player he promises to be on the right or left wing. Savinho is blessed with tremendous ability to beat a man and is quick, but has that one obvious, and perhaps fatal, flaw in his game. Ever since last summer, Savinho has always seemed likely to attempt to take that next step away from Manchester City. That is exactly what will transpire as Savinho will finally get his desired move to Tottenham.
All summer it has been well known that Savinho has wanted to leave Manchester City to sign for Tottenham. He has now got his wish. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Tottenham have finally reached a verbal agreement with City to sign Savinho. Romano reports that Tottenham will pay over £75 million to sign the Brazilian international who will travel to London to complete his medical with Spurs imminently.
Ciaran Wiseman reports for TalkSport that Tottenham will pay £85 million to sign Savinho. That will be a club record sale for Manchester City which represents great business for the club.
Savinho may well kick on at Tottenham and become the player he always promised to be under Roberto De Zerbi. As mentioned countless times before and above, Savinho has the tools to become an elite winger. However, at Manchester City, it never seemed like that would happen for him. Too often, Savinho flattered to deceive for City and a summer transfer is the best move for all concerned. That has finally occurred and Savinho's move to Tottenham does represent great business for Manchester City.
Securing a club record sale for a winger who hasn't quite broken through at City is fantastic. Manchester City can now reinvest that money in the areas of their squad that need improving. They've sold a player that didn't want to be at the club and an end to a saga that has run over two summer has finally arrived.

Wigan Athletic have signed Chelsea midfielder Reggie Walsh and Manchester City midfielder Charlie Gray on season-long loan deals.
Walsh, 17, has made four senior appearances for the Premier League side and became their third-youngest player when he made his debut against Djurgarden in the Conference League in May 2025.
Gray, 20, has been with City since he was an under-9 and made his senior debut against Brentford in the Carabo Cup last December.
Both players could feature for Gary Cadwell's side in Saturday's League One game at home to Leyton Orient.
"It's the perfect stepping stone I need in my career. Being 17, I need to play men's football, and I believe this is the perfect environment for me to be in and build my career," Walsh told the club website.

European experience might not be everything in MLS, but it goes far when it comes to player ratings for EA Sports FC 27.
Lionel Messi is the top-rated MLS player with an 89 overall, the game-makers revealed on their official channels, but he's closely followed by a pair of players who arrived in MLS this summer - both of whom, like Messi, played for FC Barcelona in their standout careers.
Robert Lewandowski, the Polish forward who joined the Chicago Fire this summer, and Orlando City signing Antoine Griezmann, who joined from Atlético Madrid on a free transfer, both are rated 84 overall.
The respect for new arrivals with experience in Europe doesn't end there. Next on the list is Casemiro, the Brazilian midfielder who became Messi's Inter Miami teammate this summer after four seasons with Manchester United and a decade with Real Madrid before that.
Casemiro is an 83 overall, as is Rodrigo De Paul, another member of Inter Miami who joined the club after Messi moved across the Atlantic to suit up for the Herons.
