In a lawsuit filed on Sept. 10, and obtained by Rolling Stone, Quintanilla III seeks an unspecified amount in damages and monetary relief exceeding $1 million. The suit alleges that as the manager of Selena's estate, Quintanilla-Arriago has not provided A.B. A federal court on Sept. 9 dismissed a lawsuit between former Memphis football receiver Cortez Braham and the NCAA, ending a legal saga that stretched on for more than a year.
Braham initially sued the NCAA in 2025 to get an additional year of eligibility. He was granted a preliminary injunction before transferring to Memphis, where he was the Tigers' leading receiver in 2025. After the season ended, Braham's lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.
The NCAA fought it, saying in legal filings that it wanted to enforce the "rule of restitution" against Memphis for playing a player they said should have been ineligible. Lawyers for both sides argued their cases in a Las Vegas courtroom in March.
A ruling finally came on Sept. 9, when the panel of judges ruled that the case was moot and dismissed it.
"Famously, in sports, "it ain't over 'til it's over." But, in this case, it's over," Judge Gabriel P. Sanchez wrote. "The game clock has run out on the 2025 college football season. With these appeals, the NCAA attempts one last Hail Mary pass: asking us to reverse the preliminary injunctions granted to these college football players that allowed them to play in the now complete 2025 season. Because these injunctions have already expired and these players' collegiate careers are over, no effective relief can be granted to the NCAA. We therefore dismiss these appeals as moot."

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he is nominating acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao for the permanent job, giving the Navy combat veteran the nod as concerns have emerged that some sailors have been stretched to the limit during the Iran war.
Cao has been serving as acting Navy secretary since John Phelan departed the job unexpectedly and without explanation in late April. Unlike Phelan, who had not served in the military or had a civilian leadership role in the service, Cao spent 25 years in the Navy as a special operations officer and went on to serve with SEAL teams and special forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"I am pleased to nominate a true WARRIOR," Trump wrote on social media, prodding the Senate "to confirm this Warfighter, ASAP."
Cao on social media called it the "honor of a lifetime to lead the great warriors of the Navy and Marine Corps team."
Cao's nomination comes as some, including Democrats in Congress, believe Trump has been overtaxing the Navy. The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier's nine-month deployment to support the Iran war has included a record-setting uninterrupted time at sea.

The Everybody Loves Raymond alum, 68, opened up about Friends of Abe, a private network of conservatives in the entertainment industry during the August 24 episode of Andrew Gold's Heretics podcast.
"There were a lot of people that felt like they couldn't say anything who were conservative. And we ended up having to make a secret group," Heaton explained.
The former star of The Middle said the organization became known as FOA, or Friends of Abe, a reference to Abraham Lincoln, and members had a discreet way of figuring out if someone else had a similar political mindset.
"So you could say to somebody, 'Are you a friend of Abe?' Or, 'Are you FOA?' And if they said, 'Yeah,' then you knew there was another conservative or independent or, you know, or someone who is not a Democrat," she continued.

Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas) said Monday he does not "make much" of reports that allege crew members aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln are suffering from declining mental health and supply shortages due to its long deployment.
In an appearance on Fox Business's "Mornings with Maria" anchored by Cheryl Casone, Fallon, a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, responded to the reports and calls for congressional oversight into the physical and mental state of crew members on the ship.

In his first game after returning from an illness, Sox fans booed the team's best player after he didn't run out a grounder to lead off the eighth. Chad Tracy didn't take isssue with his play, though. "I know how that looks," he said. "But I'm also aware, more than others, that he's a little beat up and told us before the game, 'I don't have everything today.' So I'm fine. Aston Villa are still awaiting the outcome of their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as they try to register Brian Madjo, who joined from Metz for £10m in January and does not turn 18 until January next year.
Under-18s cannot complete international transfers, but Villa have argued Madjo was born in London and should be exempt, despite having three caps for Luxembourg.
Fifa does allow some exemptions for minor players to make moves, including if a 16 or 17-year-old transfers within the European Union - something the UK is no longer part of.
At 6ft 4in, Madjo has already been compared to Belgium's Romelu Lukaku and his leveller against Real Sociedad to make it 2-2 after 56 minutes was simple enough but showed a predatory instinct.
He was a handful for Real, with strength and power unsettling the visiting defenders and, with Ollie Watkins still on a break following England's World Cup campaign and Tammy Abraham returning from a shoulder issue, Madjo has the chance to impress.

Since then, Brahim has established himself as an important squad player for Los Blancos without ever exploding into the star he threatened to become.
This summer, the 26-year-old had a very good tournament for Morocco at the World Cup, where he was at his creative best.
Now, according to Abraham P. Romero, speaking on Ramon Alvarez de Mon's channel, Brahim wants to remain at Real Madrid, even though he understands that he may not become one of the biggest stars in Jose Mourinho's squad.
The Morocco international is comfortable with both his current role and his situation at the Bernabeu.

The 2026 MLB Draft has come and gone, with the two-day event concluding on Sunday night. The Seminoles had seven players taken in this year's draft, headlined by second-round selections Wes Mendes and Myles Bailey. FSU lost its entire weekend rotation from a season ago, but did not lose RHP John Abraham or OF Brody DeLamielleure, as neither was picked.
On the high school front, two of Florida State's best high school recruits, Landon Thome and Kaden Waechter, had their names called in the second round, and it would be unlikely that either would make it to campus.
As always, players do not have to sign when they are drafted and can elect to go/return to school. This year's signing deadline is Monday, July 27.

WASHINGTON, July 9 (Reuters) - Coinbase's chief legal officer, Paul Grewal, is stepping down after six years at the U.S. cryptocurrency exchange where he fought off a major lawsuit brought by the U.S. securities ‌regulator and played an instrumental role in the crypto industry's Washington campaign to secure industry-friendly policies.
Molly Abraham, Coinbase's ‌vice president of legal, will move into Grewal's role with the ***** le of general counsel, the company told Reuters. Coinbase is also naming Ryan VanGrack, who is currently vice president of legal, as the company's first vice chair and head of corporate affairs, Coinbase said.
Grewal first posted news of his departure on X. He will be staying on as an adviser at Coinbase and will remain on the board of Coinbase's National Trust Company.
MAJOR SEC LEGAL BATTLE

It’s safe to say that Notre Dame football had a great month recruiting, especially in the 2027 class.
The Irish added multiple prospects to one of the highest ranked groups in the county, with two from this past month standing out. Those two, edge rusher Abraham Sesay and offensive lineman Albert Simien are both ranked as 5-star prospects by Rivals, aside from a Texas commit, they were the highest ranked prospects to verbals during the month.
Only one other team made the list, Ohio State, but they barely did. The recruiting calendar has changed, but it hasn’t made a difference to Notre Dame. It has been able to make a quick adjustment and has started landing some of the best prospects across the county. Don’t expect this to stop with Marcus Freeman at the helm.
The 2028 class already has three commits, and could be adding more top talent at anytime. It’s extremely impressive the amount of talent there is in South Bend now, and in the future.

The unveiling took place at a ceremony near Corinne, Utah, and the locomotive immediately embarked on its inaugural freight mission, which involved hauling ******* e Launch System solid rocket motor segments for NASA's Artemis III lunar exploration program. The program is a collaboration with aerospace and defense company Northrop Grumman and locomotive manufacturer Wabtec.

Union Pacific said in a statement that locomotive No. 4547 is a dedication to President Donald J. Trump. This makes it the third engine in the company's presidential locomotive series. The first two are No. 1616, which honors President Abraham Lincoln, who signed the Pacific Railway Act in 1862, effectively founding Union Pacific, and No. 4141, which recognizes President George H.W. Bush.
The company detailed that its CEO Jim Vena was joined at the christening ceremony by Utah's House Speaker, Senate President, and senior officials from NASA, Northrop Grumman, and Wabtec. It added that No. 4547 was also accompanied on the maiden journey by No. 1616, the Lincoln commemorative engine.
The locomotive's design also commemorates America's 250th anniversary. Union Pacific said this is a theme it has been weaving across several initiatives this year, including a cross-country tour by its famed Big Boy No. 4014 steam locomotive.
