The new Novig ad features Sweeney posing nude with a variety of sports equipment covering herself. It's a play on the fact that, unlike other prediction markets such as Polymarket and Kalshi, Novig — which launched nationwide last month — is only about betting on sports, not world events, politics, or "wars or deaths" as Sweeney says in the ad.

Steve Ballmer was so serious about turning the Los Angeles Clippers into a serious franchise for the first time in their existence that he wanted to make sure no fan ever waited in a long line to use the bathroom when the team opened its new arena. Ballmer's drive to win eventually led the Clippers to courting Kawhi Leonard in free agency, fresh off leading the Toronto Raptors to a 2019 NBA championship. Leonard wanted to live in Los Angeles, yes, but he also wanted Paul George as his running mate, so the Clippers shipped out a boatload of draft picks and future two-time MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to get him.
Leonard's people also made it known that their client wanted the type of big endorsement deals his off-putting, robotic personality couldn't land legitimately. Leonard's now infamous Uncle Dennis Robertson never tried to be subtle about his desire to secure similar off-court bags to the ones Kawhi's contemporaries like LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant were landing on their own accord, and leaks of his demands circulated as soon as Leonard hit free agency.
The Clippers became so entangled in pleasing Leonard that it led to blatant salary cap circumvention, first reported by investigative journalist Pablo Torre. The NBA found enough evidence supporting Torre's claims that it hammered the Clippers with the most severe penalty in league history, stripping five future first-round draft picks, suspending executives including Ballmer, and more. That figured to be the end of the story, with the Clippers spending the next decade trying to climb out of the abyss. Torre continued to hint that there was another shoe to drop, and now that it's here, the Clippers might be in much bigger trouble than anyone first believed.
The Department of Justice has opened a criminal investigation into the Clippers, according to the New York Times, and it's already issued one subpoena. While the scope of the investigation is unclear for now, the fact that the feds are watching the Clippers for under-the-table dealings potentially makes this a much bigger deal than simply breaking NBA rules.

Steven Spielberg may soon say goodbye to his equestrian ranch in Los Angeles.
Closer has learned that the famed Hollywood filmmaker, 79, has listed his seven-bedroom, 11-bathroom property for just under $30 million after purchasing the ranch back in 1999 for $5.35 million.
The 6,219-square-foot property was at the center of controversy shortly after he and wife Kate Capshaw made the purchase because the director wanted to build a five-story horse-riding ring despite pushback from their Brentwood neighbors.
"It's just astounding and obnoxious," land-use attorney John Murdock, who represented several residents at the time, told the ***** ociated Press in 2000. "They're cutting out half the hillside to put in this riding ring … the structure is completely alien to the area."
The riding ring was intended to be a 27,000-square-foot building that would've been about six times the size of a typical home in the area and cost more than $7 million to build, according to the AP.

STILLWATER — Last Saturday, Seth Storey walked into the Stillwater Raising Cane's and ordered a 25-finger tailgate platter. It costs $41.99 and feeds 6-8 people, but Storey wasn't sharing.
At 9:02 p.m., Storey sat down at a booth with an aluminum pan full of chicken and couldn't leave the restaurant for 24 hours. For every tender he ate, one hour came off his clock.
The first 30 minutes went OK as Storey powered through 12 tenders. At the 15 tender mark, his consumption started to slow down. He gagged attempting to swallow tender 18 and nearly threw up. The bathroom would ultimately call three times — once to throw up.
Even the tasty Raising Cane's sauce didn't make things better.
"It didn't help with the flavor and it just kind of tasted like nothing," Storey said. "Like definitely toward the end, I was just sick of the taste."

As the waters recede, the survivors remain stunned, grieving and praying.
A string of miracle rescues in recent days has kept hopes alive that more people might still be saved from the catastrophe of August 26 when a glacier collapsed, sending a mass of mud and rock crashing into a river along the border between Nepal and China's Tibet. The resulting floods washed away villages, snapped highways like twigs, and buried homes in the mud.
At least 1,380 bodies have so far been pulled from the wreckage, some far downstream from the site of the disaster. A wall outside a Kathmandu hospital plastered with photos and desperate appeals hints at the unfinished story of an estimated 5,500 people who remain missing.

If the St. Louis Cardinals are going to make a playoff push, it has to start in San Francisco. That's why Monday's game against the Giants was so vital. It didn't start well for Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy as the Giants grabbed an early lead. Cardinals bats would eventually claw their way all the way back by the 9th inning, but it wasn't quite enough to secure a crucial victory.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has made another major real estate move, adding a historic lakefront estate in his home state of Ohio to the extensive collection of properties owned by him and his wife, Taylor Swift.
Kelce purchased the $5.35 million property in Bratenahl, a village just outside Cleveland, in March, according to The Wall Street Journal. The move brings the Cleveland Heights native back to Northeast Ohio while giving the couple another large private residence.
The purchase follows years of real estate moves for both Kelce and Swift. Kelce previously bought homes in two Kansas City-area neighborhoods, while Swift has ******* embled a portfolio spanning Nashville, New York City, Rhode Island and California.
Kelce's latest acquisition is known as Moyenage, a more than 21,000-square-foot Elizabethan Tudor-style mansion overlooking Lake Erie.

USC football shut out Fresno State on Friday night. The Trojans were able to earn a day off and watch college football on Saturday. The game you know the Trojans were watching on Saturday was Oregon versus Boise State. The Ducks got a severe test. Ducks Wire reacted:

"If that's what (Dan) Lanning instilled in his guys after a tense, nerve-wracking, and often frustrating season-opener, then I think the Ducks won in more ways than one. Did Oregon look good on Saturday? No, not by their standards. Did they play well? At times, but it was far too inconsistent. Is there a lot to clean up? Yes, undoubtedly. Is everything they're aiming for still out in front of them?
"Coaching a championship contender is hard. You want them to be so dominant that they blow every opponent out of the water, but you also want to keep them motivated and hungry enough to keep working hard. The PSC team hosted Northeast Community College following the ribbon cutting of its new PSC Soccer Complex on a 6.7-acre site at the corner of Underwood and Tippin avenues.
The more than $5.7 million lighted complex includes a natural turf NCAA regulation-sized soccer field, bleacher seating for 280 fans, a concession stand and bathrooms.
Phase 2 of the project, the construction of dressing rooms and a press box, will begin in the fall and cost $2.1 million.

He initially paid $3.05 million for the mansion and has since made a $150,000 profit on the sale four years after buying it in 2022, when he signed his $197.2 million max contract with the Grizzlies. The house reportedly has seven bedrooms and spans 13,836 square feet on 6.45 acres.
