Rising interest rates have the US on a collision course with the need to finally deal with its bloated debt pile, Goldman Sachs warns.
"Persistently higher rates would boost interest expense as a share of GDP — a key gauge of the cash outflows needed to service the debt — and push the debt-to-GDP ratio up to 132% by 2035, 10 percentage points above our baseline, raising the odds that deficit reduction becomes necessary sooner to stabilize the debt," Goldman Sachs strategist Pierfrancesco Mei wrote in a new note on Tuesday.
US Treasury yields have climbed aggressively this year, effectively pushing up the country's debt servicing costs. The benchmark 10-year Treasury yield (^TNX) has surged more than 115 basis points, from around 4.10% late last year to a 24-year high of around 5.28% at present.

This sustained sell-off across the bond market has been fueled by inflation brought on by the US war on Iran, which prompted the Federal Reserve to hike interest rates last month. The economy's resilience in the face of pricing pressures has also contributed to the sell-off.

Los Angeles County judge granted a temporary restraining order against Olivier Martinez for abusing his ex-wife, Halle Berry, as per the allegations made by the French actor. According to him, Halle Berry choked their 12-year-old son, Maceo, during a fight between them at her house.
In court documents that were initially disclosed to TMZ, 60-year-old Olivier alleges that 60-year-old Berry physically attacked their son in a violent manner on September 26. Also, he is requesting custody rights over the minor. Berry's lawyer describes the court document as being baseless.
According to the filing, Berry entered Maceo's room while he was playing virtual reality games and became furious because he looked "stupid" for playing. Martinez said Berry's fiancé, musician Van Hunt, was at their place during the altercation.
It is alleged in the documents that the fight became violent as Berry hopped onto their son, grabbed him around the neck, and started strangling him. Meanwhile, she was saying, "Who is dominant now?" The filing alleges that Maceo later called his father to tell him what happened.
It is also alleged that the following day, Berry texted Olivier that she felt "terrible" about the entire episode.

On September 8, 2026, Reuters reported that NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE) shareholders rejected a proposal urging greater transparency on how the company plans to meet its 2030 emissions-reduction targets, despite support from Norway's sovereign wealth fund, Nike's 11th-largest shareholder.
Nike's board had urged a "no" vote, arguing management is "best positioned to determine the targets and related disclosures that are appropriate." Shareholders separately approved the company's executive compensation proposal, including pay for CEO Elliott Hill, in a vote that had faced some opposition.
The failed climate proposal gives NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE)'s management more flexibility to focus on its operational turnaround. Shareholders rejected the request for greater disclosure on how Nike plans to meet its 2030 emissions targets. It allows CEO Elliott Hill and his team to prioritize product innovation, sales recovery, and market-share gains. Nike faces significant operational challenges. So management could benefit from directing more resources toward restoring growth and profitability.
Nike has already made measurable progress toward its environmental targets. It limits the immediate financial impact of the rejected proposal. The company reported an 11% reduction in supply-chain emissions from its 2015 baseline in fiscal 2024, while its 2030 targets call for a 65% reduction in operational emissions and a 30% reduction across its supply chain. This progress gives Nike evidence that it is chasing its climate goals even without expanding its current disclosure.
Shareholders' approval of Elliott Hill's compensation package shows support for Nike's leadership despite the difficult turnaround. Investors approved more than $36 million in total compensation for Hill for fiscal 2026, even though Norway's wealth fund and major proxy advisers opposed the package. Shareholder support gives Hill greater room to execute his strategy as Nike works to stabilize sales, rebuild its market position, and restore long-term earnings growth.

Sept 17 (Reuters) - JP Morgan said on Thursday that it does not have a clear baseline view for oil markets for the first time since the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran.
"We simply don't ‌know how to model the endgame," ***** ysts at the bank noted.
The note flagged that at the beginning of ‌the conflict, JP Morgan had ***** umed there were some economic thresholds that the U.S. administration would not cross, but six months into the conflict, many of those lines have been crossed with no clear exit strategy in view.
The bank noted that oil prices have climbed above $100 a barrel with gasoline at $4.37 a gallon. It also noted that US diesel prices have hit an all-time high of $6.31 a gallon heading into winter, the period of peak seasonal demand, while inventories sit at all-time lows.
JP Morgan estimated Brent's fair value at around $90 a ‌barrel for September, compared with current prices near $106, suggesting markets are pricing in the risk of further supply losses beyond the estimated 10 million barrels per day already disrupted.

Six months into a conflict that has proven complex, costly, and highly unpopular, there remains no end in sight to the war in Iran. That's left the energy market — and the ****** ysts and strategists who study it — with a deep lack of clarity.
"For the first time since the start of the Iran conflict, we don't have a baseline view," commodities strategists at JPMorgan, led by Natasha Kaneva, wrote to clients on Thursday. "We simply don't know how to model the endgame."
As the war enters its seventh month, the conflict has broadened to multiple fronts.
In the mouth of the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz — the world's most critical chokepoint for global energy flows — remains essentially closed to through traffic as Tehran's Revolutionary Guard Corps continues to threaten vessels in the region. Daily crossings of the waterway have remained in the low double digits, far below the average of more than 120 daily transits before the outbreak of war.

Small modular reactors, or SMRs, are essentially miniature nuclear power plants. They can be built faster than larger conventional nuclear facilities. And while typically more expensive on a per-megawatt basis, upfront capital investment can also be much lower than that of traditional nuclear plants.
While the concept of SMRs has been around for decades, only two SMR systems have ever been commercialized -- one in Russia, the other in China. Both of those systems are relatively small in generating capacity.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
A new age for SMRs, however, is upon us. The AI industry needs more power quickly to support scaling trillions of dollars in data center infrastructure. Nuclear power can provide large amounts of stable baseload power with minimal refueling needs. And while SMRs are typically higher cost on a per-megawatt basis, the speed of construction of these smaller nuclear systems is highly attractive in today's environment.
The European Investment Bank -- the lending arm of the European Union -- is recognizing the potential of SMRs. On Sept. 4, the group announced a €40 million loan to Steady Energy, an SMR developer based in Finland. According to Reuters, "The loan is the first in a pipeline of SMR investments the EIB has planned."

NuScale Power Corporation (SMR) stands out as America's leading developer of small modular reactors (SMRs), building light-water nuclear systems designed to deliver reliable, carbon-free baseload power. Its core product, the NuScale Power Module, targets a wide range of applications, from traditional electricity generation to industrial decarbonization, AI data center power supply, and hydrogen production. Notably, NuScale remains the only SMR developer to secure Standard Design Approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, a regulatory milestone that continues to anchor its competitive positioning in the emerging advanced nuclear industry.
NuScale's stock has been anything but stable. Over the past 52 weeks, shares have traded across an enormous range, from a low of $7.21 to a high of $57.42, before settling closer to $10.81. That volatility stems from a mix of factors: heavy retail investor interest, elevated short interest fueling sharp swings in both directions, and macroeconomic shifts in interest rates that disproportionately affect capital-intensive, pre-revenue growth companies. Compared to the Russell 2000, a benchmark of diversified, largely profitable small-cap stocks, NuScale carries a significantly higher beta and downside risk, reflecting its speculative, early-stage commercialization profile.

Sexyy Red could be facing a $5 million judgment in a lawsuit brought by the grandmother of one of her children, but the money has not been awarded.
Nicole Barnes is asking a judge to enter a default judgment after claiming the rapper failed to respond to the case, according to new court documents obtained by TMZ. Barnes sued ****** yy Red in March 2025 over allegations that the rapper posted her home address online and encouraged followers to attack her.
Barnes says ordinary efforts to serve the lawsuit were unsuccessful and that she later served ****** yy Red through publication in a newspaper. She now argues that the lack of a response entitles her to a default judgment for $5 million.
Sexyy Red is disputing the underlying case. Her attorney Jason Lampert told TMZ that the claims are "baseless and completely without merit" and said the rapper categorically denies the allegations and intends to defend herself. The judge has not yet ruled on Barnes' request.
Barnes filed the lawsuit on March 24, 2025, after an alleged social-media incident the previous December. The complaint alleges that ****** yy Red, whose legal name is Janae Wherry, posted Barnes' Hazelwood, Missouri, address and a photograph of her home on Facebook before encouraging her followers to "kick in the door" and harm her.

The artificial intelligence (AI) boom is fueling a nuclear renaissance. For the industry to grow, massive amounts of energy-intensive compute power will need to be built. As a low-carbon, high-baseload energy source, nuclear power is a promising solution.
NuScale Power (NYSE: SMR) is the only small modular reactor (SMR) developer in the U.S. approved by regulators to construct an SMR facility. SMRs are ideal for the AI data center build-out, given that they can be built more quickly and at a lower cost than conventional nuclear plants. This smaller footprint allows an SMR to be constructed near the data center infrastructure itself.

Despite growth potential, NuScale shares are down 40% this year. Skepticism is reasonable. Only two SMR systems currently exist worldwide. NuScale has never commercialized any of its SMR designs. Plus, the company already experienced a sizable failure in 2023 when its biggest customer (at the time) canceled its project.
While NuScale operates in an industry that should see long-term growth, the nuclear stock's future may hinge on a single upcoming catalyst.

On August 5, Cytek Biosciences (NASDAQ:CTKB) reported financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, and the report reads like two different companies at once. Revenue climbed, margins widened, and the installed base of instruments kept expanding. At the same time, the net loss more than doubled from a year earlier and adjusted EBITDA swung negative. For a company selling hardware into cell ***** ysis labs, that split between growing revenue and growing losses is the story investors need to untangle.
Total revenue reached $48.1 million in the second quarter of 2026, up 6% from the second quarter of 2025, and the growth came from more than one source. Cytek expanded its installed base to 3,933 instruments as of June 30, 2026, adding 142 units in the quarter, and each new machine tends to pull in service and reagent sales over time. That dynamic already shows up in the numbers: recurring revenue from service and reagents hit $18.5 million in the quarter, and on a trailing 12-month basis it now makes up 35% of total revenue, up from 32% a year earlier.
Gross profit told a similar story, climbing 19% to $28.3 million, with GAAP gross margin rising to 59% from 52% and adjusted gross margin reaching 61% from 56%. Some of that lift came from a one-time tariff refund, but even stripped of it, adjusted gross margin still improved to 56%. Cytek also launched the Borealis, a 7-laser flow cytometer built for 60-color panels, and rolled out more automated configurations of its Aurora Evo line, giving the sales team new hardware to sell into the rest of 2026. Full-year revenue guidance moved up to a range of $207 million to $212 million, raising the midpoint by $1 million.
The same quarter that grew revenue also widened the losses. Operating expenses rose 15% year over year to $39.7 million, with general and administrative costs jumping 24% to $16.8 million because of litigation-related expenses, severance, and other personnel costs. R&D spending grew 10% to $9.7 million, and sales and marketing rose 9% to $13.2 million, so the increase was not confined to one line item. The loss from operations widened to $11.4 million from $10.6 million a year earlier, and net loss more than doubled to $12.2 million from $5.6 million.
Adjusted EBITDA, which strips out stock-based compensation and currency swings, swung to a $1.5 million loss from a positive $1.3 million a year earlier, after also adjusting for a write-off tied to an early-stage technology investment. The tariff refund that boosted this quarter's headline gross margin also means the underlying figures, 53% GAAP and 56% adjusted, are the more honest baseline going forward. Cash and marketable securities held roughly flat at $262.0 million as of June 30, 2026, down only slightly from $262.2 million three months earlier, so the balance sheet has not yet felt the strain.

The New England Patriots have reportedly agreed to a four-year, $102 million extension with Christian Gonzalez, making him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
All of the speculation surrounding the star defensive back can finally end.
The Patriots have decided to invest long-term in having one of the best cover cornerbacks in the NFL for years to come. And Gonzalez, Bill Belichick's final first-round draft pick, is digging his roots in as a foundational defensive stalwart in New England's secondary.
The extension comes after the Seattle Seahawks agreed to a blockbuster deal with All-Pro cornerback Devon Witherspoon in August. There was a belief that Gonzalez was waiting for that deal to get done to set a baseline for his negotiations with the Patriots.
It took longer than expected, but Gonzalez and Witherspoon, who share the same agent, have both now made history in less than a month apart.

Yet in the same release, the industrial distributor guided fiscal 2027 sales growth to just 4.0% to 6.5%, a sharp step down that leaves investors wondering whether the acceleration is fading or just getting started.
Applied Industrial's fourth quarter showed growth spreading rather than concentrating in one corner of the business. The Engineered Solutions segment grew 12.9% while the Service Center segment grew 7.9%, both accelerating well past the pace either had shown earlier in the fiscal year. Full-year net sales reached $5.0 billion, up 8.8% year over year, with organic growth of 5.4%, meaning the fourth quarter alone ran at nearly double the full-year organic rate.
Profitability grew even faster than revenue. Fourth-quarter EBITDA rose 16.1% year over year to $177.6 million, and EBITDA margins expanded by more than 60 basis points, evidence that the extra sales reached the bottom line rather than getting discounted away. Net income for the quarter climbed 13.2% to $118.6 million, or $3.17 per share, while full-year earnings per share reached $10.95, up 8.2%. Management also pointed to an estimated 7% organic sales increase in the first quarter of fiscal 2027 to date, suggesting the demand that showed up in the June quarter has not cooled off since.
The company used that strength to raise its own long-term bar, lifting its intermediate targets to $7 billion in sales and 14% EBITDA margins over the next five years, and pointing to an active M&A pipeline as another lever beyond organic growth.
The same release that celebrated record results also set a noticeably slower pace for the year ahead. Fiscal 2027 guidance calls for total sales growth of only 4.0% to 6.5%, well below the 9.7% organic growth just posted, and EBITDA margins are guided to 12.5% to 12.8%, short of the 14% margin the company now targets down the road. Management explicitly cited tougher comparisons as fiscal 2027 plays out, language that suggests the fourth quarter's growth rate was closer to a peak than a new baseline.

One of the biggest changes you're going to notice about new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon's scheme is his Penny package, which is essentially a 3-4 defense on the line of scrimmage with one true off-ball linebacker, split safeties and another deeper safety in the middle of the field. Green Bay Packers fans are familiar with the 3-4 base defense, which was run by Dom Capers, Mike Pettine and Joe Barry in the past, along with the typical 4-2-4 Nickel defense that is played for the majority of snaps league-wide.
This Penny wrinkle, though, is a little different than what you're used to seeing from most NFL teams. That's why we wrote about what it means for the secondary in an article two weeks ago.
Today, though, I want to focus on the line of scrimmage, particularly with how Gannon is deploying "off-ball" linebacker Edgerrin Cooper.
Generally, when 3-4 defenses play Penny, they take their Will linebacker off the field to add a slot defender. The Packers, as a baseline, don't play a slot defender, but a third safety.
The other change-up Green Bay has is that they aren't taking their Will linebacker (Cooper) off the field, at least with the first-team defense. Because Cooper is one of the team's better defenders, Gannon has actually played Cooper on the edge, displacing the edge defender opposite Lukas Van Ness (generally Barryn Sorrell) this preseason.

With seven days to go before the Green Bay Packers take on the Minnesota Vikings in the 2026 regular season opener at U.S. Bank Stadium, here are seven things for Packers fans to know about Kevin O'Connell's team entering 2026:
Unlike last season, the Packers won't be facing J.J. McCarthy or Max Brosmer in the season opener. The Vikings are turning a new page at quarterback, starting former No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray to open the 2026 season. Murray is 0-2 as a starter in his career against the Packers. At his best, Murray is a playmaker at quarterback who can extend plays or create explosive gains with his legs. But Murray hasn't led a team to a winning record as a starter since 2021, and his career passer rating is 92.2. Last season, Murray played in only five games, and he hasn't appeared in a regular season game since Oct. 5 of 2025. Can he provide a higher baseline of play at quarterback in Minnesota, and is he more than just another stopgap?
Kevin O'Connell on Kyler Murray: "I think he's demonstrated what he's capable of, both the experience he has playing at a high level in this league, but also his experience now of coming in here being challenged. And I think he's shown enough to really project with the right prerequisite now of work for a starter leading into a camp that we can get the rhythm, the timing, we can get the mastery of our system and this year's system, regardless of what we've done in previous years, what we're going to look like, how we're going to play. There's different things and nuances that we're going to fit to what our players, Kyler included, do the best. And in my opinion, he's got the skill set and the abilities, not only just from a standpoint of accuracy, but his ability to affect the game with his athleticism."
A bit of a surprise before Week 1: Harrison Smith is coming out of retirement to re-join the Vikings for a 15th NFL season. A versatile veteran who knows Brian Flores' system inside and out, Smith provides an experienced veteran who can get everyone on the same page pre-snap and play from multiple alignments post-snap. While he wasn't in Minnesota for training camp, it's likely Smith will be ready to contribute right away in Week 1. The Packers will have to wait another year to face the post-Smith Vikings.
The Vikings traded away top pass-rusher Jonathan Greenard, leaving a hole on the edge of Brian Flores' defense. He was a menacing rusher who made the Pro Bowl in 2024, but Greenard dealt with lingering injuries in 2025 and is now playing for the Eagles. Who will take over his role? Dallas Turner, a 2024 first-round pick, is now expected to be the go-to pass-rusher in Minnesota. Expect to see plenty of battles between Turner and 2024 first-round pick Jordan Morgan next Sunday. Last season, Turner produced 8.0 sacks and 15 quarterback hits. Is he ready for a breakout season in Year 3? Andrew Van Ginkel is another productive player on the edge, and the Vikings also added veteran Kyle Van Noy to t

Fourth-seeded Coco Gauff advanced to the fourth round of the US Open on Saturday, turning back Spain's Cristina Bucsa in straight sets.
Gauff, the 2023 US Open champion, topped the 40th ranked Spaniard 6-3 6-4 in 88 minutes, charging the net on match point and sealing the victory when Bucsa's lob sailed long.
"She's a tricky player, so it's tough to get rhythm," Gauff said of the Spaniard. "Happy with how I fought through even when I wasn't playing my best."
Gauff, who is on a nine-match winning streak after triumphing in the Cincinnati warmup tournament, will next play either rising American Iva Jovic or Alex Eala of the Philippines.
In a largely baseline battle both Gauff and Bucsa made effective forays to the net and dug in defensively to extend the rallies with difficult retrievals that enthralled the crowd in Arthur Ashe Stadium.

On August 6, Versant Media Group (NASDAQ:VSNT) reported second-quarter 2026 results that capture a company in transition. Revenue slipped 3.8% year over year to $1.64 billion, and net income attributable to Versant tumbled 30.1% to $211 million. Yet the same report included a raised full-year outlook, a third straight quarterly dividend, and a second $100 million stock buyback. For a company barely eight months removed from its separation from Comcast on January 2, the numbers tell two stories at once.
Versant's headline Adjusted EBITDA fell 8.9% to $624 million, but measured against the prior year's Standalone Adjusted EBITDA, the more relevant apples-to-apples baseline, EBITDA actually grew 3.0%. That gap matters because it shows the company trimming programming and overhead costs faster than legacy revenue is shrinking. Management leaned into that momentum by raising full-year revenue guidance to $6.2 billion to $6.45 billion and Adjusted EBITDA guidance to $1.9 billion to $2.05 billion, while holding free cash flow guidance at $1.0 billion to $1.2 billion.
The growth story lives outside the traditional cable bundle. Platforms revenue, excluding the divested SportsEngine business, climbed 9.3% on the strength of Fandango and GolfNow, and Versant used the quarter to lock in two multi-year distribution renewals with major partners in the US and Canada. Sports rights remain the anchor: PGA TOUR coverage delivered its best second quarter since 2020, USA Network's WNBA broadcasts drew three of the quarter's most watched games across cable and streaming, and a new five-year Bundesliga deal adds more than 300 live matches a year, with at least 30 landing on USA Network. MS NOW backed that up digitally, posting audience growth for a seventh straight month through June and racking up close to 3 billion YouTube and TikTok views so far this year. Layer in the Full Swing acquisition completed after quarter-end, and Versant is placing real bets beyond linear television.
The pressure driving those buybacks and that raised guidance is real. Total revenue fell 3.8% to $1.64 billion, or 2.8% excluding SportsEngine, and linear distribution revenue, still the largest piece of the business, dropped 6.3% as subscribers kept leaving traditional pay TV. Rate increases only partly offset that erosion, and advertising revenue slipped another 0.6% even with better ratings and a boost from a recent acquisition.
The bottom line felt it more than the top line. Net income attributable to Versant fell $91 million to $211 million, and the company pointed to higher costs of running as a standalone public company, new interest expense tied to debt taken on after leaving Comcast, and a bigger tax bill linked to the SportsEngine sale. Those are the direct costs of standing alone rather than sitting inside a larger conglomerate. Versant's prior year financial statements were also built from Comcast's carve out accounting rather than results as a true independent company, so s

Continue »
There's no doubt about NuScale's potential. The company specializes in small modular reactors, or SMRs. This technology has been around for decades, with only two SMR facilities ever commercialized worldwide. Adoption of SMRs, however, is heating up quickly. More than 80 SMR systems are currently in development, largely thanks to a single catalyst: rapidly rising energy demand from artificial intelligence (AI) companies.
These companies require large amounts of reliable baseload power. And due to climate commitments, much of this emerging power demand must be met by low-carbon generation. AI companies will need more power years down the line, but they also need more power now. That makes SMRs a better fit versus conventional nuclear power plants. SMRs are essentially miniature nuclear power plants that can be built faster and with lower upfront costs. They can also be located directly next to data center infrastructure.

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz reached the fourth round of the US Open with a straight-set victory over Wu Yibing and said he's getting better every match in the wake of his four-month injury absence.
China's Wu kept Alcaraz hopping with an aggressive baseline game, but Alcaraz came through 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 to line up a meeting with American Tommy Paul for a place in the quarter-finals.
Paul, seeded 20th, beat 15th-seeded Alexander Bublik 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (4/7), 6-1, 6-3.
Alcaraz won the Australian Open in January for his seventh Grand Slam ******* le. But the 23-year-old arrived at Flushing Meadows having not played since April as he recovered from a wrist injury.
His lack of match play -- and the pressure Wu applied -- was evident in 33 unforced errors, the Spaniard showing plenty of frustration along with satisfaction.

CHAPEL HILL — UNC football general manager Michael Lombardi has resigned, the university announced Aug. 3.
"The University will continue its ongoing investigation and will consider all appropriate corrective actions responsive to the information it learns," UNC released in a school-issued statement.
On Friday, July 31, lawyer Tom Mars released a statement in response to the Lombardi situation.
"Michael hasn't been told anything about the nature of UNC's investigation and welcomes the opportunity to clear his name, which has already been sullied by baseless statements and innuendo on social media," Mars wrote.
"He is fully cooperating with UNC and expects the investigation will be swift, thorough, and fair. Michael would ask that people have the decency to let the process run its course before jumping to any conclusions about the nature of the investigation or whether there's any merit to whatever has been alleged."

After a 5 run first inning, Kansas City had a multi-run lead for over half the game. The Marlins kept chipping away inning after inning to eventually win 9-6.
It was a very exciting beginning to the game tonight, though it was both the good and bad type of exciting. Noah Cameron had a breaking ball hit the back foot of the leadoff hitter to start the game. Then Otto Lopez hit a hard groundball down the third baseline and into the corner that John Rave misplayed into a triple and an RBI. Kyle Stowers was up third and the infield was in. He immediately hit a little single up the middle to make the game 2-0. Cameron started to settle in after that and got out of the first. In the bottom half the Royals decided to show Miami that anything they could do KC could do better. Carter Jensen led the game off by pulling a solo home run and cutting the lead in half. Bobby Witt managed to reach base with a single before Jac Caglianone mirrored the triple in the top half of the inning only down the first baseline and into the corner for a double. It was enough with Witt's speed to tie the game up 2-2. That was not enough for Salvador Perez however, so he also turned on a ball and hit his 18th bomb of the year to score two and give the Royals the lead. After which Vinnie Pasquantino flew out, Nick Loftin worked a walk, and the newly returned Michael Massey drove a double to right center for a 5-2 lead.
View Link
That was a long inning for Eury Perez ending with 34 pitches thrown, and the Marlins even got the bullpen moving a bit before the end of the initial frame. It was a great start after the last two games where the Royals got blown out, but the crazy first was a long way from the end of this one. Cameron, after those first three batters, took down the next 8 in a row before Miami got to him in the 3rd. With two outs and no one on, Stowers got his second RBI knock of the night by hitting a solo homer to left center. It looked like he may have struck out on a check swing the pitch before the home run, but it was called no swing on appeal.
In the bottom of the 4th, with Eury still hanging in there, Carter Jensen tagged another mistake and lined it 110mph into the Royals bullpen. It was his second multi-homer game of his career and brought him to and then above the 20 homer mark. Not bad for your first full season in the bigs. Royals lead 6-3.

NFL players diagnosed with advanced CTE after death who also demonstrated cognitive impairment in testing during their life still did not meet the requirements for financial compensation under the NFL Concussion Settlement, according to a Boston University study published Wednesday.
Researchers examined 33 NFL players diagnosed with CTE after an autopsy who had completed the baseline ****** sment program (BAP) stipulated by the 2014 settlement – that ended a years-long class-action lawsuit – in what researchers called the largest study to date linking cognitive testing performance during life with CTE confirmed posthumously.
The results, published in JAMA Network Open, found that seven participants had advanced (Stage 3 or 4) CTE. Six of those seven showed measurable cognitive impairment on testing, yet all seven received the lowest impairment rating (Level 0) on the BAP's system, according to documentation provided to researchers by players' families.
"The BAP's diagnostic criteria might miss cases of cognitive impairment that are objectively measurable and ****** ociated with confirmed CTE pathology," Michael Alosco, PhD, co-director of clinical research at the BU CTE Center said in a statement. "This has important implications for former players seeking diagnosis and potential compensation through the NFL Concussion Settlement."
The participants' average age at the time of testing was 63, and their average age of death was 65. The most-common problem was memory, particularly short-term, with 63% of the participants affected. Executive function (52%) and language (41%) were other common impairments.
