Samson and Abhishek Sharma have formed a more settled opening combination for India in T20Is. However, Sooryavanshi's attacking style gives the team another option at the top.

Samson's omission in England after three failures also raised questions, especially given his experience in the format.
India could also consider playing both Samson and Sooryavanshi if Ishan Kishan is ruled out.

Kishan had a back injury scare during Friday's net session. He comes into the series after a brilliant Duleep Trophy final, where he scored 270 and 80.

Kishan will be keen to play because T20Is remain the only format in which he is currently a regular for India.
The three-match series will give India's Asian Games-bound players valuable preparation against a strong Afghanistan side.

Buffalo Bison 11, Charlotte Knights 4
The Charlotte Knights stumbled to an 11-4 loss to the Buffalo Bisons in a game that remained competitive for five innings before spiraling wildly out of control.
Adisyn Coffey took the mound as an opener for Charlotte, making just his third start of the season. It quickly became the Lenyn Sosa revenge game. The former White Sox infielder greeted Coffey with a leadoff solo shot in the top of the third. Coffey retired the next two hitters, but a single and an RBI double followed, giving Buffalo a 2-0 edge.
The Knights answered in the bottom half of the inning. Rikuu Nishida drew a two-out walk, and Riley Unroe brought him home with a triple to trim the deficit to one.
After Peyton Pallette got the final out of the third inning, Huascar Brazobán followed Coffey and turned in a successful inning of rehab work, surrendering only one hit in a scoreless fourth. Tanner McDougal took over in the fifth and faced the minimum, setting the stage for Charlotte to pull even in the bottom half when Junior Perez launched a solo shot to knot the score at 2-2.
Unfortunately, that was as good as the night would get for the Knights.

Team USA's Caitlin Clark had one of the worst games of her professional career at the FIBA World Cup, but she attracted attention for an entirely different reason.
Clark ended USA's 55-52 win over Italy at the FIBA World Cup with one point, making zero field goals for the first time in her professional career.
The win kept spirits high in the locker room, but the camera-aware Clark made one action after the game that her teammates noticed, and now fans are pointing it out relentlessly.
The broadcast shared a clip from Team USA's locker room where Angel Reese, Jackie Young, and Indiana Fever teammate Aliyah Boston are seen laughing at Clark for hiding her feet under her locker's bench to make sure they aren't visible on camera.
Clark likely made a fantastic decision, as there are corners of the internet where a pixelated screenshot of her feet would go viral.

Nolan McLean will be looking to continue his run of success from the mound for the Mets as he makes his 28th start of the season.

The Las Vegas Raiders received a troubling ***** sment of their wide receiver room entering the 2026 season, creating another concern for quarterbacks Fernando Mendoza and Kirk Cousins. A low ranking for the position group highlights the uncertainty surrounding an offense that will need reliable production from its pass catchers to find consistency.
The Raiders have spent the offseason attempting to build an offense capable of supporting multiple options at quarterback. Whether Mendoza earns meaningful opportunities or Cousins takes control of the offense, both players could face a difficult situation if the receiving corps cannot consistently create separation and finish plays.

Injuries and uneven preseason performances have only added to the concern. Las Vegas has dealt with questions about the availability of promising young receivers, while the broader group has yet to establish the kind of dependable hierarchy that can give a quarterback confidence on critical downs.
The ranking also reflects the pressure facing the Raiders' offensive staff to get more from the talent already on the roster. Coaches have publicly challenged the receivers to raise their level, signaling that the organization understands the position could become a major obstacle if improvement does not arrive quickly.

José Mourinho will have a depleted squad when his Real Madrid team face Inter Milan next week. Arda Güler, Bernardo Silva and Eduardo Camavinga will all be suspended for that game because of cards they were shown during their last games in the European competition last season, which means that Mourinho will have to think outside the box and deploy a different kind of midfield line in the team's Champions League opener.
If Aurelien Tchouameni is able to make his return from injury in time for that game, Mourinho could use him alongside Valverde in the double pivot. However, the French midfielder hasn't rejoined the squad in training yet and he hasn't completed a single session with Real Madrid's new coaching staff, so his presence in the XI could be premature.
As things stand right now, Mourinho could move Jude Bellingham to the double pivot and play both Brahim and Diomandé with Vinicius and Mbappé in the attacking line. Trent Alexander-Arnold could also be an alternative to that move, albeit a more unorthodox one.

Puka Nacua, one of the best wide receivers in the NFL and a star for the Los Angeles Rams, has had a tumultuous offseason, including allegations that he bit a woman and two instances of alleged antisemitism.
It seems he's working to rectify his issues though, first by entering rehab and now by building a relationship with the Jewish community in LA.

Michael Duarte of the California Post reported that Nacua was spotted at a Bat Mitzvah on Aug. 23, and footage from the event captured a smiling Nacua dancing and clapping with the music.
"The Rams star wide receiver was reportedly invited by the parents of the girl celebrating her Bat Mitzvah, the Jewish milestone traditionally marking a girl's entrance into religious adulthood at age 12," Duarte wrote. "In the videos, Nacua helps carry the guest of honor toward the stage before later being spotted dancing among the crowd."

GREER, S.C. - Greer High School senior running back Calvin McCoy has built his game around a simple motto Head Football Coach Will Young shares with his players: "Earned, not given."
He first stepped onto a football field to help manage anger issues. At the time, he was a bigger kid playing tackle. Years later, he's transformed into one of the Upstate's most productive running backs, helping lead the Yellow Jackets with the same philosophy that's printed across the program.
"It's on our shirts that we have... 'Earned, not given,'" said McCoy. "You got to work for everything. Everything is not going to be a handout."
The motto reflects McCoy's path through the program. After beginning his career on the offensive line, McCoy eventually moved into the backfield when Greer needed someone to step up.
"I actually played tackle. I was a little bit bigger," said McCoy. "When our players went down, I really just had to step up to the next man."

The Magic Mile is the next-to-last race before the Chase in the NASCAR Cup Series.
The Dollar Tree 301 takes place from the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the flat 1.058-mile oval north of Concord.
Tyler Reddick is on the pole, with Hendersonville's Josh Berry on the outside of the front row.
Shane van Gisbergen, 16th in points and 50 points ahead of the Chase cutline, will start fifth.
Today's race will set the scene for next week's regular-season finale at Daytona. If Austin Cindric (+57 to the cutline) or SVG struggle at New Hampshire, the Daytona race will only be more intense and important. But Cindric and SVG could also add to their points cushions at New Hampshire, if not clinch a Chase spot.

Colerain High School's athletic department said Saturday it will address an incident in which a football player appeared to kick La Salle High School quarterback Garrett Fraley in the head during Friday night's game.
Referees did not penalize the play. The incident drew attention after video circulated online Saturday showing the apparent kick.
In a statement posted Saturday on the athletic department's Facebook page, school officials said they had spoken with Fraley, his parents and La Salle administrators.
"We are aware of the incident that occurred on the field during last night's game," the department said. "We do not condone this behavior, and it does not represent the standards, values, or culture of Colerain. This is not the Colerain way. We have spoken with the La Salle athlete and his parents, as well as La Salle administration. The situation will be handled appropriately."
La Salle coach Pat McLaughlin called the incident "unfortunate" and said that Fraley is OK.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Rhyne Howard scored 23 points, Angel Reese had 21 points and 10 rebounds for her league-leading 24th double-double, and the Atlanta Dream beat the Las Vegas Aces 97-82 on Tuesday night.

RC Strasbourg Alsace are reportedly in talks with Chelsea over the transfer of Deivid Washington (21), according to information from L'Équipe. The Brazilian is also said to be on the radar of clubs in Portugal.
Signed by the Blues from Santos for €16m in the summer of 2023, the striker has made just three brief appearances for the London club's first team. Loaned back to his former club in 2025, the Itumbiara-born player failed to make the most of the opportunity, scoring just three goals in 36 appearances across all competitions. A Brazilian Under-20 international (12 caps, three goals), Washington spent the 2025-26 season playing for Chelsea's reserve team.
Strasbourg, which, along with the Stamford Bridge side, form part of the BlueCo network, could therefore prove to be a great opportunity for the centre-forward to truly launch his career in Europe. Such a move would obviously be facilitated by the links between the two clubs, which have carried out numerous transfers together in recent seasons.

Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps spent over a decade racing each other in the pool at the highest level. Not only that, Lochte and Phelps crossed paths in many events, including battling head to head in the 200 Individual Medley and 400 Individual Medley countless times.
They were two of the greatest Olympians of all time, competing on the same timeline, however Lochte never once considered packing up and training alongside Phelps, and he's not shy about why.
"The best training program I've ever had was at the University of Florida, hands down the best," Lochte said on the Night Swim Podcast.
For Lochte, it wasn't close. Legendary coach Gregg Troy ran a program in Gainsville that fit Lochte like a glove, and Lochte says Troy simply understood how to get the most out of him.

The Atlanta Dream and Indiana Fever played a huge game on Sunday afternoon. The two teams entered just a half-game apart in the playoff standings with only 10 games left in the regular season.
The possible playoff matchup lived up to the billing, needing overtime to decide the winner. When the dust settled, the Fever escaped with a 95-91 win, picking up a huge win.
Indiana forced the season series against Atlanta to end tied 2-2, keeping the Dream from clinching an important head-to-head tiebreaker.
The win comes in the first game of a five-game road trip for Indiana. The Fever have been focused on resting their stars when they can this season, and now the team plays five games in the next eight days, including Sunday's win over the Dream.
Atlanta ended the first half on a 17-4 run. Allisha Gray finished the half with 17 points, while no other teammate had more than seven. She ended the game with 32 points, a career-high, but it wasn't enough to help her team pick up the win.

Serie A side Juventus are yet to finalise a goalkeeper signing and while the idea of Guglielmo Vicario has gained traction, Aston Villa's Emi Martinez remains an option for a transfer.
The Villans have made quick progress in a move for Zion Suzuki and this has given rise to Martinez possibly leaving the Birmingham club.
Alfredo Pedulla has reported that Juventus have now stepped forward for the Argentine once again. They have made fresh contact with his entourage and while they haven't made a new, formal offer, this is a sign that they're back to being alert to the scenario, knowing that developments have taken place on the Suzuki front.
The Vicario move remains alive but Martinez is seen as a much more prominent target, even if a deal for the Tottenham player could be easier. Ederson has also been offered to Juve but they remain attentive to the Martinez situation.

One of the main priorities for most coaches is to get out of the Week 0 scrimmages healthy.
At the same time, new Bloomington North coach Andy Harding wanted to get as many reps as possible for freshman quarterback Fisher Pugh and avoid any chances of injury. He got a few more than he was planning on at Dennis O. Martin Field on Friday, Aug. 14 in a two-hour controlled workout against Southport.
Pugh had to finish up the scrimmage with some of the backups after Tristan Stogdill rolled out to throw a pass, which fluttered well off target and ended his evening with an apparent injury. Pugh took a good lick in the final set of plays but bounced right back up.
