Colerain High School's athletic department said Saturday it will address an incident in which a football player appeared to kick La Salle High School quarterback Garrett Fraley in the head during Friday night's game.
Referees did not penalize the play. The incident drew attention after video circulated online Saturday showing the apparent kick.
In a statement posted Saturday on the athletic department's Facebook page, school officials said they had spoken with Fraley, his parents and La Salle administrators.
"We are aware of the incident that occurred on the field during last night's game," the department said. "We do not condone this behavior, and it does not represent the standards, values, or culture of Colerain. This is not the Colerain way. We have spoken with the La Salle athlete and his parents, as well as La Salle administration. The situation will be handled appropriately."
La Salle coach Pat McLaughlin called the incident "unfortunate" and said that Fraley is OK.

Coleraine manager Ruaidhri Higgins said his side want "more success" in this year's Irish Premiership.
The Bannsiders won the Irish Cup last season and came second in the Irish League by three points.
It has been an impressive summer transfer window for Higgins' side who have signed Northern Ireland international Conor McMenamin as well as Derry City's Ben Doherty.
"When you look at some of the signings the so-called bottom six clubs are making, it is going to be an even stronger league I feel this year and extremely competitive," Higgins told BBC Sport NI.
"When you hear people writing off Linfield, I think that is very, very naive. Larne are the reigning champions and deserve respect and Glentoran will be really, really strong again and then you have the really competitive teams outside of them as well.

Northern Ireland Football League [NIFL] chief executive Gerard Lawlor says he hopes to discuss summer football with clubs before Christmas, with a view to a vote over changing the Irish League calendar as soon as the 2028-29 season.
Earlier in the week, Coleraine manager Ruaidhri Higgins said it is "a worry" that Irish Premiership sides will never improve in Europe without a switch to summer football after his side became the third Premiership team to bow out of the qualifiers.
The Irish Premiership currently sits 51st in the Uefa coefficient system and could lose their fourth European spot if Larne, the only Northern Irish team left in the qualifiers, are knocked out before the group stages.
Lawlor has long been an advocate of summer football, something which has long been a discussion point within football in Northern Ireland.
"There will be a vote somewhere," Lawlor told Sportsound on BBC Radio Ulster.

Coleraine manager Ruaidhrí Higgins says his side "contributed" to their own downfall in Thursday's 5-0 away defeat by HJK in the first leg of their Uefa Conference League second qualifying round tie.
The Bannsiders were two down at the break through goals from Liam Moller and Pyry Mentu, while Toivo Mero added a third early in the second have with a quickfire brace by Teemu Pukki completing the rout.
Higgins expressed his "disappointment" at the manner of the defeat but had no complaints as they now have a mountain to climb in next week's second leg at home.
"The manner of the goals we gave away and the timing were extremely disappointing," Higgins told Coleraine TV.
"We contributed to a lot of their goals and that's on us, so we have to accept it."

Coleraine striker Matthew Shevlin said the side are expecting to face a "fit and sharp" HJK Helsinki in the second qualifying round of the Uefa Conference League.
The Bannsiders will compete in Europe for the first time since 2018 when they travel to play the Finnish side.
Ruaidhri Higgins' side will be aiming to build on last year's success when they finished runners-up in the Irish Premiership and lifted the Irish Cup.
"They are mid-season, so we are expecting them to be fit and sharp," Shevlin told BBC Sport NI.
"They have quality or they would not be in the competition so we are expecting a tough game, but we believe we can win.

Northern Ireland international Conor McMenamin has returned to the Irish Premiership, joining Coleraine from St Mirren on a long-term deal after a permanent transfer was agreed.
The 30-year-old signed for the Scottish side from Glentoran in 2023 and started in the League Cup final win over Celtic last season.
McMenamin won the last of his 14 NI caps in June 2024, with his sole international goal to date came in a Euro 2024 qualifier against San Marino.
He also has had previous stints in the Irish League with Linfield, Warrenpoint Town and Cliftonville.
He excelled in his two-and-a-half year spell at the Glens, netting 33 goals in 66 appearances to earn his move across the water.
