Valerie Bertinelli fired back at "haters" after posting a tribute to her ex-husband, Eddie Van Halen, on the anniversary of his death.
On Tuesday, October 6, the One Day at a Time and Hot in Cleveland actress, 66, took to Instagram with a video message for followers.
"Strap in haters, let's go for a little ride," she captioned the update, alongside emojis of a hand flashing a peace sign, a white heart, and red lips.
In the video, she shook her head and pointed out, "It does not take long for me to get a lot of pushback when I post a picture of me and Ed. It used to really bother me. It does not. Not any longer because I learned a lot."
Van Halen died at 65 in 2020, following a stroke and battles with lung cancer and throat cancer. He and Bertinelli were married from 1981 to 2007; during that time they welcomed a son, Wolfgang Van Halen, 35.

Some days, Tamara Johnson wonders how her life changed so rapidly.
Johnson, 58, made six figures in an executive leadership position, and when her mother was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and dementia in 2017, she moved from New Orleans to Virginia, where she continued to work while caring for her mother.
Three years after her mom's death in 2020, Johnson's husband suffered a series of catastrophic medical events. To care for him full-time, she took a temporary leave and then quit her job this year. She relied on income from her job's deferred resignation program and her savings to pay for his long-term care. Johnson estimates her family spent over $700,000 in total between her mom's and husband's care. Coming up with that money has been harder, as her husband's income from medical disability retirement was quartered.
"I was one of those people who was taught that you don't quit, you suck it up, and you keep going," Johnson said. "I felt like I didn't have the luxury of falling apart, because if I fell apart, then who would pick up the slack?"

This is the UFC 330 live blog for Mackenzie Dern vs. Gillian Robertson, the strawweight championship co-main event Saturday at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
Dern is currently ranked at No. 7 on the MMA Fighting Pound-for-Pound chart, while Robertson is No. 6 at 115 pounds in the Global Rankings.
This is the first ******* le defense for Dern (16-5), who became champion this past October at UFC 321 where she defeated Virna Jandiroba to win a belt vacated by Zhang Weili. Dern, a decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion prior to pursuing a career in MMA, struggled to find consistency early in her UFC career, but strung together three crucial wins to put gold around her waist. She can cement herself as the true queen of the strawweight division with an impressive performance against Robertson.
Canada's Robertson (17-8) looks to become the first woman from her country to become UFC champion. Before Robertson, Alexis Davis, Valerie Letourneau, and Felicia Spencer all had their shot, but none were able to finish the story. Robertson began her UFC run as a flyweight but dropped down to 115 pounds and has since won five straight fights to earn her shot. She currently holds the record for the most UFC submissions by female fighter (7).

Valerie Bertinelli found a forgotten strip of film frames while decluttering her home, and the discovery sent her followers straight into preservation mode.
The 66-year-old actor shared a close-up of two color frames showing her younger self posing in black lingerie and strappy heels around a chair. Bertinelli referred to the find as "negatives" in her Instagram caption and said she had completely forgotten she had them.
"I had totally forgotten that I had them, which is why we probably haven't seen them in print anywhere," Bertinelli wrote.
She asked followers a simple question: "Toss or save?" The answer in the comments was clear, with many urging her to keep the images from her early Hollywood years.
Bertinelli estimated that the shoot took place in 1979, when she was 19 and already several years into the role that made her famous. She joined CBS' One Day at a Time at 15, playing Barbara Cooper alongside Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Phillips and Pat Harrington Jr.

The ATP Montreal Masters lost its top two seeds in the **** e of a few hours on Wednesday as Germany's Alexander Zverev and Canadian Felix Auger-Alliassime both exited the field.
Top seed and world number three Zverev, this year's French Open champion and Wimbledon runner-up, was toppled by Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, who rallied for a 6-7 (3/7), 6-2, 6-4 second-round upset.
Montreal native Auger-Aliassime had to withdraw before his scheduled night match after injuring his back during training on Monday.
Tournament officials already were fuming at an event in which world number one Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic were both high-profile absentees even before the start.
"I'm not going to lie, we were hoping that Felix was going to win at least a few matches here in Montreal," tournament director Valerie Tetreault said.

Alexander Zverev has arrived at the 2026 Canadian Open as the top seed, headlining a depleted field with Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, and Carlos Alcaraz missing from the draw. Amid the discourse stirred by Djokovic and Sinner's decisions to withdraw, Zverev pinpointed why neither financial incentives nor ranking penalties would have influenced the 24-time Grand Slam champion's move.
After Sinner and Djokovic announced their decision to withdraw from the ATP Masters event in Montréal, tournament director Valérie Tétreault and Tennis Canada CEO Gavin Ziv suggested that "adjustments are needed" and revealed they are in discussions with the ATP to help ensure top players participate in important events.
During his pre-tournament press conference at the Canadian Open, Zverev was asked whether handing out bonuses to participants while imposing penalties on absentees could help address the issue.
However, the German pointed out that such a system already exists, as players who compete in eight of the nine Masters 1000 events receive a share of the ATP's multimillion-dollar bonus pool.
"That's the way it is right now. I mean, it's not rocket science. We get bonuses at the end of the year if we play all nine Masters," he said.

Matt Richards has created Wales swimming history by winning a fourth Commonwealth medal at one Games.
Richards, 23, claimed silver in the 200m freestyle alongside James Guy after the Englishman recorded the same time with Australian Kai Taylor taking the gold.
Only Valerie Davies in the first Games in 1930 and Michael Richards and Martyn Woodroffe 40 years later had previously managed three medals in one Games.
Matthew Richards has now surpassed them with his tally of two silver and two bronze with the swimmer having not won a Commonwealth Games medal before Glasgow.
He was part of two bronze relay squads before claiming his first individual podium position with silver in the 100m freestyle on Tuesday night.

The tournament director of the Canadian Open says changes need to be made to the "demanding schedule" of players after Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic pulled out of the Masters 1000 event.
Sinner, who beat Alexander Zverev to win the Wimbledon ******* le this month, said he had withdrawn from the ATP tournament, which takes place from 2-13 August in Montreal, to prioritise his health.
Carlos Alcaraz will also be absent from the Canadian Open as he continues his recovery from a wrist injury that has kept him out since April.
"We are obviously very disappointed that Jannik and Novak won't be joining us in Montreal this year, especially after they also withdrew from last year's tournament in Toronto," said the Canadian Open's tournament director Valerie Tetreault.
"We respect their decisions and understand that, with such a demanding schedule, players' health must remain the priority.

After their grand Madison Square Garden wedding, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's donated $2 million toward Answer The Call, an organization supporting the families of New York City first responders killed in the line of duty. The gift didn't stay quiet for long, and recipients began sharing their reactions, and the response has been anything but ordinary.
"Taylor and Travis, thank you for your incredible generosity and for standing with the families of fallen New York City first responders,"Answer The Call organization posted on Instagram. "Your gift will make a tangible difference in their lives."
Many like Valerie Perry, whose husband PAPD Officer William J. Perry was shot and killed on December 22, 1980, are still leaning on the support Answer The Call provides, and Perry didn't hold back when she heard about the donation.
"I am one of the older widows. My William was shot and killed on December 22, 1980. We buried him on Christmas Eve. Answer the Call has changed my life with our yearly checks, but they have also brought smiles because I feel like my Bill is always remembered, even after all these years. Now, to read about your donation? I'M IN TEARS for such a gift to all these families that have been through so much. Prayers for your future together, and God bless both of you for your generosity and your caring souls for doing something so amazing."
It wasn't just the widows' fund that saw Swift and Kelce's generosity this week either. Ahead of their wedding at Madison Square Garden, the couple also covered the security costs for the event, with New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani noting that Swift personally picked up more than $160,000 in police expenses.

July 14 (Reuters) - Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI has installed 59 natural gas turbines for its Colossus 2 data center project in Tennessee without securing federal clean air permits, according to communications between regulators and xAI representatives.
Potential emissions from the turbines are far beyond the threshold that would require a federal permit, and would be released near predominantly Black communities already estimated to be suffering disproportionately high rates of lung disease, according to a Reuters ****** ysis based on government data and information in the correspondence with regulators.
The findings, which have not been previously reported, reflect how exploding electricity demand from AI data centers is ‌driving companies to build off-grid power plants at a pace outstripping environmental oversight, with potentially big risks to public health.
The number of unpermitted turbines identified by Reuters is about double what xAI has publicly acknowledged. The company previously said it was running 27 unpermitted turbines for Colossus 2 as of January and has argued the permits are not required. ‌At least 57 of the 59 turbines are located in Mississippi, just over the state line from Tennessee where the data center is located.

The WNBA will host several All-Star weekend activities at the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago later this month, becoming the first professional sports league to christen the newly opened venue.
According to a WNBA news release, several of the All-Star break’s premier events — including media day and team practice — will be held July 24 at the center’s 60,000-square-foot athletic building. The center will also host Jr. WNBA Day, a day of athletic programming geared toward Chicago’s youth, and WNBA Changemaker Day, a community-centered leadership event that highlights a collaboration among the Chicago Sky, Obama Foundation and other local and corporate sponsors.
“Hosting AT&T WNBA All-Star events at the Obama Presidential Center is a true honor and reflects our commitment to creating connection through basketball and engaging communities in meaningful ways,” commissioner Cathy Engelbert said in a statement. “We’re excited to bring together the WNBA family and the greater Chicago community to create memorable experiences at this historic new venue.”
The center, which honors Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States, sits on just over 19 acres of the iconic Jackson Park, making it one of two host sites for All-Star activities on Chicago’s South Side. The 3-point contest and skills challenge will take place at Wintrust Arena, home of the Sky, in the South Loop area July 24. Although the All-Star Game itself will tip off at the United Center on July 25, the downtown arena where the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks play, the weekend’s marquee events will be held at different locations to bring the WNBA to more fans — and fans-to-be.
“We are thrilled to welcome the WNBA as our first professional sports league hosted at the Obama Presidential Center,” Valerie Jarrett, CEO of the Obama Foundation, said in a statement. “At the Center, we believe sports have the power to bring people together and create meaningful opportunities to build the next generation of leaders.”
