Bayern Munich's Global Academy continues to take shape, with various levels and entry station into the Bavarians' increasing youth movement developing. If one wishes to take a closer look at what the Global Academy is, this is the place to look. The TLDR is that, since 2023, Bayern invites a 18 U-18 players to a one year training camp that spans an entire season. These players, if they demonstrate enough talent, will get the chance to move up through the system. The next step for any outstanding Global Academy player is the Bayern World Squad.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Police raided the Korea Football ****** ociation's offices Thursday as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in the 2024 appointment of Hong Myung-bo as South Korea's national team coach.
Investigators searched the KFA headquarters in Cheonan, about 90 kilometers (56 miles) south of Seoul, and the KFA House in central Seoul, looking for evidence that officials improperly intervened in the hiring process.
A police investigation began shortly after Hong's appointment but had stalled this summer after nearly two years without a conclusion. It gained renewed attention amid public anger after South Korea was eliminated in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
Hong, who had also led the team at the 2014 World Cup, stepped down after the tournament, as did Chung Mong-gyu as federation president. Both appeared before a parliamentary hearing at the National ****** embly in Seoul in July.

Aug 4 (Reuters) - Recently listed U.S. shares of SK Hynix rose 5% after six brokerages started coverage of the South Korean chipmaker with bullish ratings, citing its dominance in the booming AI memory market and access to a broader global investor base.
The American Depositary Receipts of SK Hynix, whose primary listing is in Seoul, were last up at $150.08 on Tuesday. However, they are trading 16% below their July 10 listing price due to a recent pullback in semiconductor stocks.
The company had priced its ADRs at $149 for the secondary listing and raised about $26.5 billion, aided by strong investor interest in AI-focused high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips.
Massive AI infrastructure spending has fueled demand for HBM chips, driving up prices and making memory manufacturers key beneficiaries of the artificial intelligence boom.

Matt Damon brought his wife, Luciana Barroso, and their two youngest daughters to the Seoul premiere of The Odyssey, where the family greeted fans with heart-hand poses.
Gia, 17, and Stella, 15, joined their parents at Yeongdeungpo Time Square in South Korea on August 4th. Gia wore a long white dress, while Stella selected a pale blue slip dress with white lace detailing.
Damon arrived in a burgundy suit with a silver-gray shirt and matching tie. Luciana wore a fitted cobalt blue gown as the four posed together on the red carpet.
The actor said returning to Korea after 10 years became especially memorable because he was able to introduce his wife and daughters to the country for the first time.

CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD) said on August 3 that a North Korea-linked adversary injected a malicious dependency into at least 131 Mastra AI framework packages on npm (Node Package Manager). Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) owns GitHub, which acquired npm in 2020 and operates the registry at the center of the attack chain.
This was a developer-supply-chain breach with unusually efficient distribution. Stolen maintainer credentials let the attacker publish poisoned Mastra versions tagged as the latest releases. The malicious easy-day-js dependency then ran during installation, exposing developer machines and build pipelines to credential theft and remote code execution. CrowdStrike found that 87% of identified software-registry threats in the first half of 2026 involved npm packages.

Microsoft's role cuts both ways. GitHub controls the registry infrastructure, and its advisory database powers npm audit, so repeated account takeovers increase the burden to harden publishing and dependency scanning. Yet Microsoft's own June 17 investigation identified more than 140 affected Mastra packages and detailed detections across Defender Antivirus, Defender for Endpoint and Defender XDR. The same incident that creates reputational risk for npm also gives Microsoft another reason to sell integrated security.
The more direct demand read-through belongs to CrowdStrike. Its fiscal Q1 2027 revenue grew 26% to $1.39 billion, while annual recurring revenue rose 24% to $5.51 billion. Hedge-fund ownership also increased to 79 portfolios at the end of Q1 2026 from 67 in Q4 2025, according to Insider Monkey's database. The valuation is the restraint: a roughly $190 billion market value equals about 32 times CrowdStrike's $5.91 billion to $5.96 billion fiscal-year revenue guidance. The business must sustain growth near the mid-20% range for that multiple to remain comfortable.

In a statement carried by state media KCNA, Kim accused ****** an of moving beyond a defensive posture and turning its armed forces into a force capable of pre-emptive attacks and overseas military operations.
She cited ****** an's recent Tomahawk test from the Aegis destroyer Chokai in the Pacific Ocean, as well as test-firings of other missiles and its participation in a U.S.-led joint military drill in the Philippines in May.

SEOUL, Aug 4 (Reuters) - South Korean retail shareholder platform ACT said on Tuesday it had launched a campaign to call an extraordinary shareholders' meeting at Samsung Electronics, urging the chipmaker to buy back about $32 billion worth of shares and set limits on performance bonuses.
ACT said it would begin collecting electronic signatures from shareholders at 5 p.m. local time and seek support from the National Pension Service and domestic and overseas **** et managers to meet the 3% ownership threshold required to call the meeting.
The move comes after Samsung shares lost over one third of their value since hitting record-highs in June, despite the artificial intelligence boom. The falls were driven by a sharp wave of deleveraging and renewed skepticism regarding the durability of AI infrastructure spending.

Investors added $191.3 billion to US-listed ETFs in July, pushing year-to-date inflows toward $1.3 trillion.
The AI trade stayed volatile through the month, but the broader stock market held near all-time highs. Bonds went the other way, with the 30-year Treasury yield climbing to a 19-year high.
By category, US equity ETFs led the way with $75 billion of inflows. International equity ETFs followed with almost $46 billion, then US fixed income with more than $39 billion. Leveraged ETFs took in $10.5 billion, and alternatives gathered $6.3 billion.
At the individual fund level, the usual broad-market suspects sat at the top. The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) picked up nearly $20 billion, followed by the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) with $14 billion and the SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF (SPYM) with more than $8 billion.

South Korea's professional baseball league cancelled all games scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday amid a record-setting heatwave that has sent spectators to hospital.

The Audi Summer Tour kicked off in the Korean island of Jeju with Bayern Munich taking on Jeju SK FC. The Bavarians fielded a lot of young players for a large portion of the match and the 2-1 lead is a result of the Bayern youth's hard work. While a few of the first team players came on later in the game, they could not affect the scoreboard despite some good chances. The Brazilian was a live wire for Jeju. Aiás was not only a finishing threat, but also had the skill to set up one of his teammates. Jeju's goal came off some sheer brilliance from the Brazilian forward. His rainbow flick near the goal line completely flummoxed Kim Min-jae. He found his partner Chang-Min Lee who pulled back his marker in the very last moment to drift into open ***** e. That was all Jeju needed to equalize. South Koreans sent $367 million more in stablecoins out of the country than they brought back in June. It was the 18th month in a row that money left.
The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) handed those numbers to lawmaker Lee Jong-wook. The streak started in January 2025. Traders are chasing something they cannot get at home.
Five exchanges handle almost all local crypto trading. They are Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, Korbit, and Gopax.
In June, they sent roughly $1.8 billion in stablecoins to foreign platforms. About $1.44 billion came back. The gap was $367 million.
Local media reported that across the whole second quarter, close to $1.1 billion left.

Manuel Neuer has made it clear that Bayern Munich's summer tour is about much more than just appearances.
Speaking to South Korean media ahead of Bayern's stay in Jeju, the club captain emphasized that the squad wants to connect with supporters wherever they go.
"Wherever we train and play, wherever fans are present, we'll approach them and will be happy to sign autographs. We want to show the best face of ourselves," said Neuer (as captured by iMiaSanMia).
But Neuer also stressed that the tour is a crucial part of Bayern's preparations for the new season.
"We're not only doing the summer tour for the fans. We're also doing it for ourselves because we're in the middle of our preseason. We have important matches against Jeju and later against Aston Villa in Hong Kong. We'll approach them with 100% commitment and discipline," said Neuer.

She is joined by No. 7 Aphrodite Deng, last year's U.S. Girls' Junior winner (this year's champ, Clairey Lin, is also competing); No. 8 Asterisk Talley, who finished runner-up at the U.S. Women's Amateur two years ago; No. 9 Soomin Oh of South Korea; and No. 10 Rianne Malixi, the 2024 U.S. Women's Amateur champion.
So far this year, O'Keefe has won three of the six highest-rated individual tournaments, according to WAGR – Therese Hession Regional Challenge, Darius Rucker Intercollegiate and NCAA Championship.
