Real Madrid, fresh off the back of Tuesday's victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League, are back in La Liga action on Saturday, as Jose Mourinho's side host Rayo Vallecano in a local derby at the Bernabeu. However, it is not the only major sporting event in Madrid this weekend, with the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix taking place at the Madring circuit for the first time.
The city of Madrid has been eagerly awaiting this moment ever since it has announced that the Formula 1 would be switching from Barcelona to the Spanish capital. There is a lot of excitement, although Real Madrid themselves are far from enthused about the event, which will be taking place in close proximity to their Valdebebas training ground.
In the build-up to a match day, Real Madrid would ordinarily be training in front of the media, before Mourinho hosts his press conference at Valdebebas. However, this will not happen on Friday, with MD reporting that enforced changes have been made due to the Spanish Grand Prix taking place this weekend.
Real Madrid have already had to deal with noise from the Madring circuit as a result of testing being done in the lead-up to this weekend's Formula 1 Grand Prix, and they will have to withstand it again on Friday. However, the first 15 minutes of the session will be held behind closed doors, which is the first change that has been enforced upon the club.
The biggest change to the club's pre-matchday plans affects Mourinho. Rather than speaking to the media at Valdebebas, his press conference will now take place in the Bernabeu's press room, which is far from ideal for him and the journalists in attendance, although this adjustment has been considered necessary due to the fact that noise from the Madring circuit would have a major effect on the presser.

Friday, September 4 brings a football-packed day full of major headlines. From the eagerly awaited clash between Real Betis and Real Madrid at La Cartuja to key managerial moves, strategic renewals at FC Barcelona, and an emotional farewell in the Spanish national team, we round up the five main stories setting today's news agenda.
The standout match of the day pits the Verdiblancos against Los Blancos tonight at 21:00 at La Cartuja stadium. Betis are looking to make a statement after their latest stumble, while Madrid want to maintain their perfect run of victories before their European opener.
Carlo Ancelotti visited the Valdebebas facilities to reunite with his former players and watch the team at work. The Italian coach used the visit to wish the new coaching staff good luck in a season that is already approaching the start of Europe's top club competition.
In Barcelona, the absolute priority is securing Hamza Abdelkarim's future. FC Barcelona are working intensively to raise his release clause from €15 million to €150 million, thereby protecting their great attacking gem from the advances of Europe's biggest clubs.
Surprise around the Spanish national team. Marcos Llorente has made public his decision to step away from the national side, a stance he says he had been considering since before the last World Cup. The Atlético de Madrid player bids farewell with 27 caps, two World Cups, and one European Championship behind him.

José Mourinho spoke at a press conference ahead of this Friday's match against Real Betis Balompié.
This is what the coach said about Asencio: "I spoke to him when I arrived regarding things from the past. Since I arrived, I no longer speak about off-field situations. At Valdebebas he is an exemplary professional; when he was well, ***** ody trained more or better than him. Now he is the first to arrive and the last to leave. But a Real Madrid player is a Real Madrid player 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 12 months a year. Everything you do outside still reflects on Real Madrid. It continues to damage the prestige of a club that is untouchable. I'm not happy, and everyone makes mistakes, but repeated mistakes are different."
"The club has opened an investigation. As long as the investigation is open, I see him as a Real Madrid player. He is injured and will remain so for a couple of weeks. That helps keep me out of this problem."
Later, Mou spoke about Messi's retirement from the national team: "Talking about Messi is complicated. There are no words. He has been what we have all seen; he is one of those players you are going to miss. We'll have to watch some MLS matches, which I don't like very much. There are players you always miss. And we know what he means."
"Many work with me at some point, but even the ones who don't come up, we pay a lot of attention to them. They have done a great job in recent years and the result is that they have moved up to the first team... Thiago... and the many millions that Real Madrid has brought in through transfers that aren't really transfers, because in the end Real Madrid gets the players back whenever it wants to bring them back. As the season develops, with suspensions, injuries... opportunities will always come. I know them better every day and we are in daily contact with Manu and La Fábrica. And all the kids can be... I'm not going to take all of them, but they can all be excited about moving up to the first team."

After winning the first two games of the new season, against Espanyol on the road and Real Sociedad at home, Real Madrid are set to face the newly-promoted Malaga in their next La Liga game, which is scheduled to take place at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.
The Merengues have already been training for this game for some days, and Jose Mourinho held the latest training session ahead of this game on Saturday. As has been the case since the start of the season, the Portuguese coach will remain without several players, including Ferland Mendy, Eder Militao, Raul Asencio, Aurelien Tchouameni, Thiago Pitarch, Rodrygo, and Endrick.
Tchouameni and Endrick's cases are not as severe as those of the other mentioned players, but they are still not at a competitive fitness level, and thus are highly likely to miss the game against Malaga. The other players continue to recover from their longer-term injuries. As a result, Mourinho called up several players from the academy, including Sergio Mestre, Mario Rivas, Cestero, and Alexis Ciria to fill up his ranks.
Meanwhile, Diario AS reports that there was another surprising presence at Valdebebas during this training session, i.e., the Real Madrid legend, Sergio Ramos. The former Merengue defender and captain visited the club's training facilities during this session.
The Spaniard is currently without a club after having ended his time with the Mexican side Monterrey. Several years after his departure from the Spanish capital, he still remains one of the most beloved players in the history of the white club.

The board at La Liga giants Real Madrid this week received fresh contact from their counterparts at Premier League champions ******* nal, regarding the situation of young striker Endrick.
This comes as the Gunners seek out reinforcements in the final third ahead of the imminent departure of Gabriel Martinelli.
Endrick's future in Spain's capital has of course proven a headline talking point at Real Madrid across the summer to date. After the 20-year-old returned to base at Valdebebas following a fruitful loan stint in France with Lyon, it was suggested that another temporary departure could be on the cards.
José Mourinho has since moved to ******* ure that his young goalscorer will be going nowhere before the window slams shut, but speculation surrounding Endrick's name has nevertheless continued to circulate.
And as alluded to above, late this week, the former Palmeiras sensation has been linked with another of European football's leading clubs. As per a report from TEAMtalk:

Real Madrid centre-back Raul Asencio is facing the prospect of undergoing surgery despite just recovering from an injury that has kept him out for a while, Marca reports.
The 23-year-old has overcome the quadriceps injury that kept him sidelined earlier this season.
However, the issue affecting his tibia has flared up again. The same leg is once again causing concern, leaving Asencio with one final attempt to avoid surgery.
The Spanish centre-back has already started a new treatment programme at Valdebebas, where he has completed several sessions.
The aim is to reduce the pressure on the affected area and allow the injury to heal without the need for an operation.

Expectations at Real Madrid could hardly be higher heading into Jose Mourinho's first season back in charge, given the kind of signings they have made.
That, coupled with the fact that the serial winner is back in charge, means a lot is expected of Los Blancos this campaign.
According to Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, both the coach and the club are convinced the squad are capable of fighting on every front this season.
The message from inside Valdebebas is one of confidence rather than transition.
Despite the significant changes made this summer, Real Madrid believe Mourinho already has the resources required to challenge immediately.

Real Madrid's injury list remains a concern at the start of the season, but there is growing optimism at Valdebebas over the progress of two important Brazilian players.
Eder Militao is moving closer to his return and has already started running on the training pitches and working with the ball.
Rodrygo, meanwhile, has reached a significant point in his own rehabilitation, with five months now completed since his serious knee injury.
According to AS, the pair have made encouraging progress in recent weeks, as Militao is expected to be the first of the two to return, with the centre-back currently targeting a comeback after the next international break.
Rodrygo's wait will be considerably longer, but the Real Madrid forward has now reached the halfway stage of a recovery process expected to last at least 10 months.

Real Madrid face another league fixture with significant changes in the squad traveling for the game. José Mourinho spoke at a press conference to preview the match against RCD Espanyol in Barcelona. During his appearance, the Portuguese coach confirmed the absences of Endrick and Aurélien Tchouameni.
The most notable absence among the recent arrivals is Endrick. The Brazilian forward has been left out of the squad and will not travel with the group. As the coach himself explained, he is the only unavailable player who is not carrying issues over from last season.
For his part, Tchouameni will also not wear the Real Madrid shirt this Saturday in Cornellà. Although the French midfielder is recovering well from his physical issues, the coaching staff have decided not to take any risks and to keep him on a specific training plan to complete his return to full fitness.
"Tchouameni has to train today, tomorrow, and Sunday to speed up his process. He arrived in a condition that does not allow him to be ready for this match," Mourinho said regarding the French midfielder's fitness.
To cover these absences and complete the squad list, the coach from Setúbal will turn to the Valdebebas academy. Academy players Mario Rivas, Joan Martínez and Alexis Ciria will be on the bench against Espanyol.

Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has identified two areas in his squad as being short on numbers heading into the new campaign. That's according to The Athletic, who have this week provided an insight into the latest ongoings behind the scenes in the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid have of course been busy on the transfer front across the summer to date. Amid ongoing efforts to close the gap on arch rivals Barcelona, Los Blancos have reinforced the club's first-team ranks courtesy of six signings.
All of Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konaté, Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Yan Diomandé and Carlos Espí have put pen to paper on terms at Valdebebas over the last couple of months.
As alluded to above, though, the incoming José Mourinho is of the opinion that his squad still features a couple of holes on the depth front. As per a report from The Athletic:
'Mourinho is keen on adding another centre-back and a midfielder, so Madrid are keeping an eye on various positions and players.'

A fresh round of footage, showcasing the talents of Real Madrid summer signing Yan Diomandé at the club's training base, has come to the fore online this week.
This comes as the Ivorian continues to turn heads with his exploits at Valdebebas…
Youngster Diomandé of course sealed his long-awaited big-money Real Madrid switch earlier this month, after the brass at the Bernabéu agreed to meet the considerable demands of their counterparts at German outfit RB Leipzig.
The 19-year-old has since gone on to link up with his new teammates in Spain's capital, ahead of playing what is expected to be a leading role under José Mourinho over the season ahead.
And though they have not yet been afforded the chance to watch him in competitive action in Blancos colours, the understanding is that Diomandé has already made quite the impression on all behind the scenes at Valdebebas.

Real Madrid have officially announced the presentation of José Mourinho as the new head coach of the first team. Although the Portuguese manager had already spent several weeks overseeing training sessions with the squad, the formal event took place at Real Madrid City.
The event was held in a private setting within the Valdebebas facilities. The club's president, Florentino Pérez, acted as host to welcome the tactician back to the Real Madrid dugout.
During the event, the Portuguese coach signed the contract that will tie him to the Madrid institution for the next three seasons. In this way, the agreement between both parties is set to run until 30 June 2029.
As tradition dictates in this type of event, Mourinho received several institutional gifts from the president. These included a scale replica of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, a commemorative watch and a personalised shirt bearing his name.
The ceremony also featured a highly significant institutional presence. José Martínez 'Pirri', Real Madrid's honorary president, was present at the signing to accompany the new coach at the start of this new chapter at the club.

An up-and-coming member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid was on Sunday rewarded with his first-ever senior appearance in the club's colours.
The player in question? Illia Voloshyn.
Voloshyn, for those not familiar with his name, is a 19-year-old shot-stopper, who has long been held in high regard in Spain's capital.
The youngster is best known for his towering stature, standing at over two metres tall. He spent this past season plying his trade with Real Madrid C, and caught the eye of incoming first-team boss José Mourinho along the way.
Voloshyn, in turn, was recently afforded a call-up to senior training for pre-season at Valdebebas. And as alluded to above, on Sunday, as much culminated in a debut appearance for the talented Ukrainian.

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is expected to be afforded a starting berth in the club's season opener next weekend.
The Blancos star in question? Aurélien Tchouaméni.
Midfielder Tchouaméni is for his part fresh off a return to base in Spain's capital this week. After being afforded an extended break following his exploits with France at the World Cup, the former Monaco man is now at the direct disposal of new boss José Mourinho.
Tchouaméni, nevertheless, has to date been considered something of a doubt to play his part in Real Madrid's first fixture of the new campaign, against Espanyol on August 22nd.
The 26-year-old picked up a fitness problem during the World Cup, which, added to his late return to Valdebebas, led to suggestions that the likes of Eduardo Camavinga or Arda Güler could start in his place at the RCDE stadium.

La Liga giants Real Madrid have late this week been forced to contend with a fresh setback on the personnel front. This comes amid the understanding that youngster Endrick has picked up a fitness problem.
Real Madrid are of course currently in the thick of preparations for the fast-approaching new campaign.
With all of the club's World Cup stars and summer signings alike now back at Valdebebas, José Mourinho and his staff have this week been afforded the opportunity to put their collective ideas across to the entirety of Los Blancos' star-studded ranks for the first time.
The aforementioned Endrick is amongst this group, eyeing something of a breakout season in Spain's capital following a productive loan stint in France with Lyon earlier this year.
As alluded to above, though, on Friday, the Brazilian has seen these plans dealt a minor setback. As per a report from Real Madrid insider Melchor Ruiz of COPE:

Footage of two leading members of the summer recruitment drive at La Liga giants Real Madrid locking horns in training has come to the fore online.
The Blancos pair at the heart of the clip in question? Marc Cucurella, and Yan Diomandé.
Both defender Cucurella and attacker Diomandé are fresh off linking up with their new teammates in Spain's capital over the course of the last week.
Signed in respective big-money deals from Chelsea and RB Leipzig, the duo will be expected to play a leading role in the XI of new head coach José Mourinho over the course of the season ahead.
At Valdebebas on Tuesday, Cucurella and Diomandé, in turn, were pitted against one another during a training drill between ranks.

Earlier this week, more of the Real Madrid first team returned to Valdebebas ahead of the 2026-27 season starting soon. Among them was Marc Cucurella, who was signed earlier in the summer from Chelsea in a deal worth up to €60m.
Cucurella, who won the 2026 World Cup with Spain earlier in the summer, spoke to the club's official media channels (via Marca) upon partaking in his first Real Madrid training session. He admitted that he's very proud to have joined, and he feels that his career has been building up to this point.
"It's a source of pride. I don't think many people can say they've worn this shirt. We have seen great legends, it is a club with a lot of history, the greatest in Europe. Being here today is a privilege, an honour and above all a reward for all the effort I have had to make in my career. It's been a long time waiting, it's been long, but I'm already here
"Everything is very good. I was already looking forward to meeting my teammates. I have spoken to some who had written to me. The welcome has been very good. A hard, long day, but already getting a feel for it and training little by little because nothing comes from the good things."
Despite coming through the ranks of Barcelona's La Masia academy, Cucurella has many positive memories of Real Madrid, which he opened up on. He's also hoping to make more history in the coming years.

Real Madrid returned to training at Valdebebas on Monday as José Mourinho's squad continued preparations for Wednesday's Teresa Herrera Trophy clash against Deportivo La Coruña.
The session came after Madrid's friendly victory over Ferencvaros and included several notable additions to Mourinho's group.
Marc Cucurella and Ibrahima Konaté completed their first training session as Real Madrid players, while Kylian Mbappé returned to the team following his participation at the World Cup.
Ousmane Diomande and Thibaut Courtois also trained with the group after working individually in recent days. Diomande had spent his first few days at Real Madrid City training separately after completing his move from RB Leipzig last week, making Monday his first opportunity to work alongside his new teammates.
Aurélien Tchouaméni also began his preseason work on Monday, although the French midfielder trained indoors.

It has been only a month since Jose Mourinho arrived at Real Madrid, but it has taken him little time to ****** s the environment at the club and in the dressing room, and start making changes.
Indeed, according to AS, After observing the day-to-day habits at Valdebebas, the new Real Madrid coach decided the club needed greater structure, discipline and control.
His objective was not simply to reshape the team's performances on the pitch, but also to redefine the routines surrounding the players' daily lives.
From nutrition and injury rehabilitation to punctuality and team bonding, Mourinho has already left his mark with a new set of standards.
The Portuguese coach is not relying solely on strict discipline. For Mourinho, creating a united group is just as important as tactical work.

Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz reiterated the team's desire to compete for trophies this season with new manager Jose Mourinho.
The Moroccan international, who had an extended break due to his country's quarter-final finish at the World Cup, was back at Valdebebas as he joined training with the rest of the squad on Monday.
Brahim was asked about how he is feeling on an individual level, and what the collective goal of the club comes down to, among other things.
He said: "It's clear I'll give my absolute best. I see that all the Madrid fans are happy with my football. On an individual level, I'm going to give my best in every match.
"The best thing at a team level is winning ***** les. This is Real Madrid, and we have to win ***** les."

La Liga giants Real Madrid are closing on an agreement to part with an up-and-coming member of the club's ranks in the middle of the park.
This comes amid the understanding that César Palacios is inching towards a move to the Premier League, with Fulham.
Palacios, for his part, is a 21-year-old midfielder, whose name will likely be familiar to those of a Real Madrid persuasion. The starlet spent much of last season in and around the first-team setup at Valdebebas, culminating in six senior appearances between La Liga and the Champions League.
And his efforts, both at academy level and under the bright lights of the Bernabéu, evidently proved enough to impress one of Palacios' former managers.
It was recently confirmed in the Spanish media that Álvaro Arbeloa, after being named new head coach of Fulham, was eyeing a reunion with his compatriot in England.

Denzel Dumfries has officially begun life as a Real Madrid player, taking part in his first training session at Valdebebas before sharing his initial impressions with Real Madrid TV.
The Dutch international, who arrived this summer to strengthen José Mourinho's squad, expressed his excitement about getting started after returning from his post-season break and admitted he has already been impressed by the club's world-class training complex.
"After the first training session I feel great, the start has gone very well. After the holidays I'm happy to get going. It's an honor to be here. The facilities are incredible. Very big. You can get lost very quickly. They're helping me figure out where everything is."
Dumfries also spoke about the welcome he has received since arriving in Madrid. While several first-team players are still away following the World Cup, the defender said everyone currently at Valdebebas has made him feel at home.
"They've welcomed me very well. Several are still on vacation for the World Cup, but those who are here have given me a great reception: the coaching staff, the manager… I've felt very welcome. We have a great team and a great manager. It's great to work with them and learn from them."

The new coaching staff at La Liga giants Real Madrid have been left taken aback by the efforts of one member of the club's midfield ranks across pre-season to date.
The Blancos star in question? Arda Güler.
Midfielder Arda for his part returned to base in Spain's capital to report for pre-season training earlier this week. Afforded an extra week of rest following his exploits with his native Türkiye at the World Cup, the 21-year-old took his place under the watch of José Mourinho for the first time.
And safe to say, Arda has since gone on to make his presence very much felt at Valdebebas… As per a report from Diario AS, the engine room starlet has returned full of intent and vigour with a view to the campaign ahead:
'The coaching staff is surprised. Arda Güler has returned from his vacation not only eager to impress, but also in excellent physical condition. So much so that some key members of the team didn't hesitate to openly praise him: "Güler is flying!" was heard at Valdebebas.'

#arda #valdebebas #Coaching #liga

The midfielder Arda Guler was one of the very few Real Madrid players who avoided any meaningful criticism, despite being a regular starter, for the failure of the last season. He remained a key player for both Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa, and the highest point of his season came in the second leg of the quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich, in which his two goals kick-started the Merengues’ comeback, although they ultimately fell short of achieving its objective.
Guler also participated in the World Cup with Turkiye where he also impressed, but his team was eliminated in the group stage. As a result, he returned to Valdebebas before any other World Cup player, last Monday.
According to Diario AS, the sessions over these five days have been enough for the Turk to impress his new coach, Jose Mourinho, and his staff. He has returned from holidays in excellent physical condition and mentally driven to continue playing an important role at Real Madrid. Some members of the coaching staff can be heard saying: “Güler is flying!”
The midfielder will find increased competition for his starting spot going into the next season. Bernardo Silva has been one of the major bets made by the Merengue club this summer, and he will compete directly with Guler for the attacking midfield spot. Meanwhile, Endrick’s ability to play on the right wing also means more competition in this position for the Turk.
However, he has the advantage of already being in Mourinho’s good books. The Portuguese manager wanted to have him in his team when he joined Turkish side Fenerbahce, and later had a meeting with the player in Istanbul.

Jose Mourinho’s return to Real Madrid has brought a noticeable change to the training ground, with players already adapting to the high standards and intensity expected by the Portuguese coach.
According to Guillermo Rai in The Athletic, the atmosphere at Valdebebas has been described as “overwhelmingly positive” since Mourinho began work, with the manager combining demanding training sessions with a hands-on approach that has impressed those around the first team.
Despite inheriting a depleted squad because of the FIFA World Cup, Mourinho has wasted little time implementing his methods as he prepares Real Madrid for the new campaign.
Mourinho took charge of his first training session on July 13, but preparations began under unusual circumstances.
As many as 14 first-team players were absent after representing their countries at the World Cup, forcing the new manager to work with a squad made up of available senior players and several academy prospects.

It has already been two weeks since Jose Mourinho returned to Real Madrid, and more than ten days since the start of preseason training at Valdebebas. During this time, the Portuguese coach has had to work without most of his first team players, but he has been able to make a good ***** sment of the players who have been training under him.
In fact, some recent reports suggest that he has also made decisions about the future of some of these players. For instance, he has already let the defender Raul Asencio know that he is not part of his plans, and thus, should start looking for a new club.
Meanwhile, the forward Franco Mastantuono has been another player for whose departure the coach has reportedly given the green light. However, according to a report from MARCA, the Argentine has also been one of the players who has impressed the new coach the most since the start of preseason training, and although the possibility of a departure remains, the youngster knows he can still earn a place in the squad.
Two of Mourinho’s predecessors on the Real Madrid bench, Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa, both gave several opportunities to Mastantuono to shine and lock down a place in the starting eleven. However, he was unable to take advantage of these opportunities, and lost prominence after a few games under both managers.
For now, Mourinho understands that he will have to restore the player’s confidence and to make him feel comfortable if he is to continue at the Merengue club. Meanwhile, Real Madrid are also considering loaning him out, as they did with Endrick last season, to allow him to adapt to European football in a lower-pressure environment, and several clubs from the Premier League, Serie A, and La Liga are interested.

Real Madrid's new captain, Federico Valverde, shared his thoughts on new manager Jose Mourinho on Wednesday. Valverde returned to training after Uruguay had a disappointing first-round elimination at the World Cup.
"I'm eager to learn from Mourinho, to try and listen to every piece of advice he gives me. To get the most out of every second, every minute of training I get to share with him and his coaching staff," said Valverde.
"I'm going to try to learn and grow as a footballer and as a person. I think he's a special person from whom I can learn a lot."
Real Madrid are currently hosting double sessions under Jose Mourinho at Valdebebas. It's been an intense start to the pre-season as Mourinho wants all players in top shape. Real Madrid have a series of pre-season friendlies lined up. Valverde will soon get the chance to demonstrate his level to Mourinho.

Federico Valverde has officially returned to Real Madrid’s pre-season preparations after enjoying 24 days of vacation, becoming the latest World Cup international to rejoin José Mourinho’s squad.
Following Arda Guler, who reported back on Monday, the Uruguayan midfielder is the second returning international to resume training at Valdebebas.
Valverde began the day by completing his routine medical examinations, receiving clearance before taking part in his first training session under Mourinho.
His return increases the number of available first-team players to ten, although the squad continues to rely heavily on academy players while the remaining internationals complete their holidays.
Uruguay’s disappointing World Cup campaign ended in the group stage after draws against Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia, along with a defeat to Spain.

Real Madrid's pre-season preparations are gathering pace, with Jose Mourinho set to get a significant opportunity to **** s his squad before the club begins its schedule of summer friendlies.
According to journalist Arancha Rodriguez, Madrid will face Leganes in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Valdebebas on Tuesday, July 28.
The match will not be open to the general public or the media, but it will form an important part of Mourinho's preparations ahead of the new campaign.
The fixture comes just over two weeks after Real Madrid began pre-season training on July 13, with players returning in phases following their involvement at the FIFA World Cup.
The match in question will be a meeting with Leganes, which is expected to provide Mourinho with valuable minutes for players still building match fitness after staggered returns to training.

Real Madrid approach every summer under a spotlight bright enough to illuminate every corridor of Valdebebas, every whisper in the boardroom, every tactical preference of the coach. This window already carries that familiar sense of theatre, yet the mood around the Bernabeu feels particularly instructive. There is movement, there is patience, and there is a clear idea emerging of what the club believe the current squad can yet become.
According to The Athletic, the biggest immediate development has been the departure of Fran Garcia, with Real Betis set to pay close to €4million and Madrid retaining a 50 per cent sell-on clause. It is tidy business, practical rather than dramatic, and significant chiefly because it continues a process of reshaping around the fringes of the first-team group.
The report notes that Fran Garcia is the fourth departure since the end of last season, following the exits of Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Dani Ceballos. That matters because Madrid's summer, at least so far, has been defined less by flamboyant recruitment and more by recalibration. At a club where expectation often demands a marquee storyline, this is a more deliberate piece of squad management.

At the heart of that strategy lies one of the clearest statements of intent in the entire piece, "midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, 26, signed a new contract until 2031." In a market that can lure clubs into unnecessary restlessness, that renewal feels substantial. Tchouameni is not simply retained, he is reaffirmed. He represents physical authority, positional intelligence and a degree of midfield control that elite sides still require when knock-out football tightens and games become contests of nerve as much as imagination.
