One of the most significant moves for Real Madrid on the deadline day of the summer transfer window, surprisingly, had nothing to do with a direct departure or arrival from the club.
Instead, it was the sale of Chema Andres who moved from Stuttgart to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League for a big fee, part of which Real Madrid were entitled to as they held 50% of the player's rights.
The youngster, thus, became part of a historic transfer window for Real Madrid where the club made over €200 million from youth player sales, windfalls and other similar operations.
As reported by Diario AS, Chema's move from Serie A to the Premier League closed for a sum of €23 million last night, making it a costly operation for Brighton.

Talks between Olympique de Marseille and Crystal Palace for the transfer of Quinten Timber resumed on transfer deadline day. The Dutchman now looks set for a move to Selhurst Park, as per a report from RMC Sport.
Believing that the depth and quality of their midfield is sufficient, OM's management – who continue to seek funds to meet the financial constraints imposed by the National Directorate for Financial Control (DNCG) – are said to have opened the door to the departure of the Dutchman.
Talks regarding a transfer worth over €18m have been ongoing, alongside those being conducted by the Eagles – as well as Sunderland – in an attempt to finalise the deal for Malick Fofana (21). The Belgian could instead now be heading to the Black Cats.

NEW DELHI: Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has offered his resignation from the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) national selection committee, adding another dramatic twist to the turmoil surrounding the Test side after a sweeping overhaul of the squad and coaching staff.

According to Geo News, sources close to Misbah said the former cricketer had informed the PCB of his decision and would serve a notice period before formally stepping down. Cricinfo also reported that Misbah had offered his resignation, although the PCB is yet to accept it.

The development comes just a day after the PCB announced wholesale changes to the Pakistan Test squad and coaching staff following the team's heavy 194-run defeat to England at Lord's.
The timing of Misbah's decision has raised questions over the selection committee's role in the PCB's latest overhaul. According to the reports, Misbah was apparently not consulted despite being part of the national selection committee when the board decided to make major changes to the squad and coaching staff.

The PCB released seven players from the Test squad ahead of the third Test against England at Edgbaston, starting September 9. Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamer Jamal, Awais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad were among those released.

Sarfaraz Ahmed and Umar Gul were also removed as head coach and bowling coach respectively.

The PCB subsequently brought in white-ball head coach Mike Hesson and bowling coach Ashley Noffke to work with the Test side for the remainder of the England tour.

Cricinfo further reported that Misbah has decided to step down from his role as a batting consultant at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, where his contract required him to work for 180 days a year.
The extent of Pakistan's overhaul was further highlighted by the inclusion of five uncapped players in the squad for the third Test.

Arafat Minhas, Mohammad Imran Jnr, Saad Baig, Mohammad Imran Randhawa and Razaullah have been added, while Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal have also been brought into the group. The latter two have a combined experience of only 10 Test matches.

The sweeping changes followed Pakistan's innings-and-103-run defeat in the first Test before England won the second by 194 runs. The back-to-back defeats left Pakistan 0-2 down in the three-match series and staring at a potential 3-0 clean sweep.
Misbah was appointed to the four-member national selection committee in March alongside Aaqib Javed, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Asad Shafiq.

The former captain has previously held several senior positions within the PCB. He was appointed head coach and chief selector in 2019, before stepping down as chief selector in October 2020 and eventually leaving the head coach's position in 2021.

Thilo Kehrer has fallen down the pecking order at AS Monaco. The 29-year-old defender could leave the Principality club before the closure of the transfer window later this evening, as per a report from Foot Mercato.
Previously a key player for Les Monégasques, he looks set to be a second-choice option this season under new manager Filipe Luís. The Germany international has played just one minute of football in all competitions this season, against Le Havre AC on the opening day of the season. It is Eric Dier and Sadibou Sané who look to be Luís' first-choice centre-back pairing. Christian Mawissa also seems to be above Kehrer in the pecking order, although the German does bring valuable experience and leadership to this young side.
Those could become valuable ***** ets to Ajax. The Eredivisie side could welcome the centre-back on a season-long loan without a buy option, Foot Mercato now report.

AS Monaco forward Folarin Balogun (25) is now all set for a switch to Everton after the USMNT forward reached an agreement on personal terms with the Premier League club, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano.
Monaco have been open to selling the USMNT forward all summer. The former ***** nal man had an excellent campaign last time around and significantly bolstered his value. His value was enhanced further thanks to his performances for the USMNT at the FIFA World Cup. He was one of three players earmarked for an exit at the start of the summer alongside Maghnes Akliouche and Lamine Camara. The sale of Aladji Bamba to Newcastle United could allow Monaco to retain the latter.
However, unlike Camara, Balogun was keen to leave the Principality club. ASM, meanwhile, moved early in the window to secure his replacement in the form of Matthis Abline. By freeing up a non-EU spot, Monaco will also be able to finalise the arrival of Erik Lira.
An agreement between Monaco and Everton was struck on Monday night. The deal is worth a fixed fee of €45m plus an extra €5m in bonuses. An agreement has now been reached with Balogun himself. The former ***** nal forward is set to sign with the Merseyside club for four years. He has now been authorised to travel for a medical.

Chelsea are stepping up their pursuit of France international Manu Koné (25) on deadline day, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
It was previously reported this summer that Koné would be keen to join a major Premier League side. The 25-year-old notably impressed with a couple of eye-catching performances for France at the 2026 World Cup. Manchester United were said to be keen on signing him, until they eventually opted to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton.
L'Equipe reported on Monday that Chelsea target Lamine Camara, who ran the show last night against Marseille, was actually the Blues' plan B should they fail to land their priority target. It would seem that Koné is the priority, with interest in Camara cooling over the course of the past 24 hours.
Attempts to sign Koné are now being stepped up, Foot Mercato understands. Chelsea have officially made contact with AS Roma. Talks are now ongoing.

When the Green Bay Packers selected Marshawn Lloyd in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, they probably foresaw him being their starting running back one day. The path he has taken to get there, though, has been an incredibly twisting journey.
That same year, Green Bay signed Josh Jacobs to a four-year contract. Having him and Lloyd was supposed to give the Packers a dynamic one-two punch at the running back position. But while Jacobs put up Pro Bowl numbers, Lloyd spent the majority of his time on the injured list.
Indeed, Lloyd has played just one out of a possible 34 regular season games since he was drafted, and he even left the one he played early due to injury.
Now, however, he is primed to take over as the starting running back. At least, for now.

Liverpool are heading into the closing days of the summer window with multiple moving parts, and the sense around Anfield is that business may not yet be finished. According to Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel, supporters should be alert to the possibility of a late twist in the club's search for attacking cover.
The broad picture is already significant. Liverpool are reported to be closing in on Bradley Barcola in a deal that could rise to £123m, a move that would underline serious intent in the market. At the same time, Cody Gakpo's future appears less certain amid interest from Manchester City. If Sarr is the preferred solution, Liverpool may need to move decisively and accept that the terms could be tough.

Sunderland have yet to conclude a deal to sign Igor Paixao (26) from Olympique de Marseille, and according to a report from Sacha Tavolieri, they now face competition for the Brazilian's signature.
Paixao joined OM from Feyenoord last season for a €30m fee and, just 12 months later, the Brazilian could leave. Marseille and Sunderland are in talks regarding a transfer for the forward, although there is not yet any agreement between the clubs. There are also talks between the Premier League side and Paixao's representatives. Get French Football News understands that the player's representatives were in London for talks on Thursday.
OM cannot close the door to a departure, even if Bruno Genesio is desperate to retain the player, the only recognised senior left-winger in the squad. The chances of Paixao leaving have now increased, even if Sunderland are no closer to concluding a deal. He is seen as an option for Al-Ittihad, should the Saudi side fail to wrap up a deal for Ritsu Doan.

Italian giants Napoli are in talks to sign FC Lorient midfielder Noah Cadiou (27), according to a report from Sacha Tavolieri.
Cadiou shone for Les Merlus last season. The France-born midfielder impressed with his physicality as well as his technicality on the ball. He has started both of Les Merlus' Ligue 1 games this season under new manager Alexandre Dujeux, however, it was during Saturday night's defeat to ESTAC Troyes that links with a move across the Alpine border emerged.

Jamal Musiala used to be the fun, new at Bayern Munich that could do no wrong. He twisted and turned past all the defenders with his mesmerizing dribbling and dazzled the crowds with the #42 on his back.

Running from February through November, the NASCAR season can be long, grueling and unforgivable for its drivers, full of twists and turns, ups and downs.
It's been that way for Tyler Reddick this year.
The 30-year-old from Corning, California, started the year on an absolute tear and made history, becoming the first driver to win the first three races of the season. When he took consecutive checkered flags at Daytona, Atlanta and Circuit of the Americas, he did something that not even legends of this sport – such as Richard Petty or Dale Earnhardt – had accomplished.
By mid-April, Reddick had won five of the first nine races of the season, and most fans ****** umed he was going to ride that momentum all year and win his first championship in the Cup Series by a wide margin. Heading into June, Reddick still remained first in points with a comfortable lead.
Then the bad days started to pile up. His No. 45 Toyota got caught in a multi-car crash at Michigan and he didn't finish. Two weeks later in the street course race at Naval Base Coronado, Reddick was battling with teammate Corey Heim for the lead with less than three laps to go, then blew his left front tire and settled for a 25th-place finish.

Being in the midst of a sports reality show really isn't what you'd expect it to be. But then again, "Welcome to Wrexham" isn't like any other sports reality show, so I shouldn't be too surprised by how things turned out.
I ***** umed it would be an experience marked by intrusive camera crews recording our mundanity, which a melodramatic editing process would twist until everybody on the show was an embarrassing meme. Instead, it must be said that the camera crews are positively lovely, accepted within both the club and the town as friends, not an unfortunate necessity.
Rather than create shock value, the show is remarkably good at selecting people and themes. It reflects what I experience, both as a fan of the club and a resident of Wrexham. To illustrate this, consider the one moment in all five seasons which I felt was inauthentic. It came early on, when Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds' representative, Humphrey Ker, endured a disastrous introduction to the players and manager, Dean Keates.

The NCAA's new 5‑in‑5 eligibility rule continues to send shockwaves through college athletics, and nowhere is the confusion more visible than in Texas A&M's still‑unfinished 2026–27 basketball roster. The past week delivered another round of twists.
First, former G‑League guard Bryson Warren was ruled ineligible by both the NCAA and the SEC. Warren secured a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the NCAA, but the SEC's stance remained unchanged, prompting him to enter the transfer portal and leaving the Aggies with an unexpected roster vacancy.
Meanwhile, former A&M guard Rylan Griffen awaited a ruling in his own lawsuit in the Dallas court system. On Thursday, a judge granted a TRO against the NCAA, the SEC, and commissioner Greg Sankey, effectively telling the governing bodies that if they want to challenge Griffen's eligibility, they'll have to do it in court.
The TRO doesn't prevent the SEC from issuing punishments to schools that play athletes it considers ineligible, but Griffen's case carries a key distinction. He never signed a professional contract. His only pro‑adjacent experience was a summer league deal with the Denver Nuggets, which functions more like a tryout than a guaranteed roster spot. That difference gives him a stronger argument than Warren under the current legal landscape.
Shortly after the TRO news broke, Luke Evangelist of TexAgs reported that Griffen has enrolled in classes at Texas A&M and intends to join the team. His status now hinges on a preliminary injunction hearing scheduled for September 11, which will determine whether he can compete while the broader lawsuit plays out.

The end of the longest saga of this summer transfer window?
On Thursday morning, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Bradley Barcola to Anfield, estimated at €117 million. The fee could rise to €140 million with various bonuses.
It was the highly respected David Ornstein, a journalist for The Athletic, who reported it this morning, kicking off what promises to be a transfer deadline day full of twists and turns.
Ornstein adds that Liverpool and PSG are currently finalizing the last details of the deal for the 23-year-old winger. It would be the biggest sale in PSG's history.
Having arrived in Paris in August 2023 for €45 million from Lyon, Barcola will have won three French league **** les, two French Cups, two Champions Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups and three Trophée des Champions with Les Rouge et Bleu.
