Guernsey FC manager Tony Vance praised the character of his side as they came from a goal down to beat Little Common 2-1.
The victory was the Green Lions' fourth consecutive Southern Combination Premier Division win and moved them up to fifth in the table.
Sam Ellis had given Little Common a first-minute lead as he beat the offside trap and finished past Seb Sheppard.
But Fin du Port equalised three minutes later when he lobbed the goalkeeper and Archie Drillot got proved to be the winner seven minutes into the second half as he reacted quickest to Will Fazakerley's saved shot.
"It was good character from the boys - to go in [at half-time] 1-1 was probably a bit harsh on us and fortunate for them because we had all the pressure, we were pushing them back and we had some good quality at times, but the end product wasn't quite there," Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.

Constance Zimmer underwent three surgeries for breast cancer earlier this year.
Returning to Instagram to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Sunday, the Entourage actress revealed that she was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), or Stage 0 breast cancer, in March. Detected early, DCIS is when abnormal cells are contained inside the milk ducts and have not spread to surrounding tissue.
"The mental toll that followed was overwhelming on certain days as I began talking to many more doctors then I would've liked (sic)," she recalled. "Feeling like my options were limited and most suggested what was the quickest way to get this mass out ASAP, which was a mastectomy."
But after meeting Dr. Kristi Funk, Zimmer opted for a lumpectomy.
"She was the first doctor to make me feel like what I wanted mattered and that made me weep with joy," the 55-year-old continued. "It did take three surgeries - three weeks in a row, but she did it, she saved my breast and it looks good too!"
And while she was recovering from the operations, Zimmer was on the press tour for the FX show Love Story, in which she played Ann Messina Freeman, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's mother.

Tommy McMillen and Marwan Rahiki turned in one of the best featherweight fights ever earlier today (Sat., Sept. 12, 2026) at Noche UFC 4 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, as the two prospects stood toe-to-toe and unleashed everything they had.
Both fighters came into this fight with something to prove. For McMillen, it was his chance to prove he's the real deal at 145 pounds and not just an exciting fighter from the Contender Series. For Rahiki, he was out to showcase his own potential in the UFC's talent-rich featherweight division and that he should get a bigger push from matchmakers instead of McMillen. It was a recipe for unfiltered chaos and that's exactly what fight fans witnessed.
The first round was a back-and-forth affair full of combinations and exchanges in close. McMillen showcased some of his wrestling along the way, but Rahiki did well to get back to his feet. The second round was even crazier as Rahiki landed a massive uppercut that sent McMillen crashing to the canvas. Rahiki chased McMillen all over the cage in search of a finish, but "Gun" somehow survived. It was a true testament to McMillen's heart, toughness, and elite cardio.
McMillen returned the favor in the third round when he regained momentum with a huge knockdown in the center of the Octagon. From there, McMillen was on cruise control. He attacked with chokes, combinations in the clinch, knees inside, and all-out pressure. Rahiki was fading for sure, but he somehow hung in long enough to hear the final buzzer sound. It was one of the wildest three-round fights you'll ever see and another reason why McMillen is one of the quickest rising stars in the sport.
In the end, McMillen walked away with the unanimous decision win. Check out the video highlights below and let us know if McMillen can maintain this pace as he further climbs the 145-pound ladder.

When you're overmatched as the Carolina Panthers may be on Sunday against the Chicago Bears—sometimes, you have to pick your battles. Stopping everything that head coach and play-caller Ben Johnson wants to do offensively simply isn't realistic given the schematic and talent mismatch on that side of the ball.
However, if the Panthers are going to defy the odds and their sorry Week 1 history to pull off a win, they have to find a way to make Chicago's offense one-dimensional. And the quickest way to do that is by shutting down the Bears' ground game, which is led by running back D'Andre Swift.
Last season, Swift led the Bears with 1,087 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Backup Kyle Monangai ranked second with 783 rushing yards to go with five scores on the ground. As a team, Chicago ranked third in the NFL with 144.5 rushing yards per game.
Containing that potent rushing attack will be easier said than done, but it's critical that the Panthers find a way to do so. While defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero will direct the symphony from the sideline, it'll be Pro Bowl inside linebacker Devin Lloyd—who was signed to a three-year, $42 million pact this offseason—who shoulders most of the responsibilities on the field.
Lloyd will likely be the first defender to meet Swift or Monangai once they break past the line of scrimmage, and how well he tackles will play a big role in deciding who wins those matchups.

Keely Hodgkinson made serene progress into the 800m final at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championships in her first race back since taking silver at last month's European Championships.
The 24-year-old skipped the final rounds of the Diamond League and the Final in Brussels last week due to discomfort in her hamstring but looked relaxed and comfortable as she clocked the quickest time of the two semi-finals, 1:57.57.
As usual Hodgkinson led from the front before winding things up in the closing 200m, finishing well clear of American Addison Wiley in 1:58.14 and Australia's Sarah Billings, who clocked 1:58.37.
There was drama as Veronica Vancardo was accidentally brought down by Eloisa Coiro as the Italian attempted to edge past on the inside in the closing straight, with Hodgkinson and the other runners going to console the Swiss athlete, who appeared badly hurt. Officials later advanced her to the final after reviewing the footage and deeming she was tripped.
Hodgkinson told BBC Sport: ""I'm happy with that, I'm glad to be back running. It was a lot of fun. It's been a month since I last raced so it's nice to get that run out through the legs, hopefully go a bit better tomorrow."

What a dominant showing from start to finish: our Red Bulls celebrated a thoroughly deserved 3–0 win over Mjällby on home turf to secure their spot in the UEFA Europa League's league phase. After a dominant but goalless first half, our lads were rewarded after the break with a brace from Konate and an additional strike from Haris Tabakovic.
After a cautious start, our lads steadily upped the tempo and created their first big chance in the twelfth minute. Tabakovic intercepted a misplaced pass from the Swedes, kept his composure, and played a sharp, low ball across the box—Eddi Baidoo missed connecting with it in the centre by just an inch or two. With possession hovering around 70 percent at times and clear dominance in terms of shots on goal, our Red Bulls took control of the match early on.
Mjällby tried to disrupt our flow of play with aggressive tackling, picking up their first two yellow cards after just twenty minutes. Following a heavy challenge by Granath on Nikolas Veratschnig, our right-back - clearly in pain - even called for a VAR check, though none was forthcoming. While the visitors offered absolutely nothing in attack, they made life difficult for our lads through sheer physicality.
In the final fifteen minutes of the first half, we carved out further opportunities to take the lead against the Swedes' deep defensive block. First, Abubakr Barry unleashed a well-placed long-range shot following a counter-attack (32'). Shortly after, Mjällby's tight man-marking prevented a goal when Baidoo played a ball across to Tabakovic. Just before the half-time whistle, Veratschnig curled a dangerous free-kick towards the corner of the target, but Mjällby goalkeeper Wallinder was equal to it with a strong save. The first half ended goalless.
After the restart, Haris Tabakovic and Konate initially missed chances from promising positions in the center of the box (57') before the breakthrough finally came. Following a long-range shot from Redzic, Wallinder could only parry the ball forward, and Konate reacted quickest to tap in a deserved opening goal (61').

A critical piece of the AI supply chain has seen its stock slide back to a familiar floor, forcing investors to ask if history's powerful rebound rhyme is about to repeat.
Synopsys (SNPS), whose software is essential for designing the world's most advanced semiconductors, has seen its stock pull back to a critical price zone between $377.98 and $417.76. For investors tracking the -21% decline over the last three months, this is more than just another dip. This price band has historically served as technical support, where buying interest halted pullbacks on five prior occasions. The question is whether the business arriving at this floor today justifies a sixth stand.
History makes a strong case for the bulls. The bounces from this exact price neighborhood have been sharp and significant, delivering an average peak gain of 42%. The table of prior bounces shows these were not fleeting rallies; they were sustained moves that rewarded the buyers who held the line.
The historical pattern is one of decisive reversals. In April 2025, a defense of this level ignited a rally that produced a 69% gain over the next 114 days. Another instance in June 2023 saw the stock eventually climb to a 49% peak. Even the quickest of these rebounds, in April 2026, delivered a 28% gain in just 43 days. This is the record that sets the stage for the current standoff: a history of buyers not just appearing, but appearing with conviction.
But a support level is a memory, not a guarantee. The floor holds or breaks based on the health of the business that lands on it. And Synopsys arrives this time as a company in transition, defined by both impressive strength and concentrated weakness.

The new European season begins only a few weeks after the World Cup, leaving many clubs with less preparation than usual. Some squads have barely changed. Others have spent heavily or reshaped key positions during the transfer window. Fitness is another unknown after a demanding international summer. Those differences often matter most before the table begins to settle. They also influence premier league betting, where early prices do not always keep pace with changes inside a squad.
The Premier League starts on 21 August, with ****** nal opening the season against Coventry City as defending champions.
Several clubs look noticeably different from last spring. Chelsea and Manchester City have invested heavily in midfield. Liverpool enter the campaign after parting with several long-serving players. ****** nal face a different challenge this time. Protecting first place usually brings more pressure than chasing it.
Preparation has not been equal across the league. Clubs with large World Cup contingents have had less time together, while others completed a much calmer pre-season. The gap may become visible during the first few rounds.
La Liga is expected to begin around 15 August. Real Madrid and Barcelona again dominate the ****** le discussion. Atlético Madrid remain close behind, while several clubs further down the table have strengthened without making major changes.Spain's international players return after a long summer, leaving little time before domestic football resumes. The opening fixtures should show which squads have settled quickest.

PORTSMOUTH — A trio of familiar feature winners and a West Virginia native took home feature wins at Portsmouth Raceway Park on Saturday evening, with Wheelersburg's R.J. Conley winning the super late model feature, South Webster's Adam Jordan claiming the sport mod feature, Pedro's Brian Skaggs laying stake to the modified main and Poca, W. Va.'s Zach Milbee winning the Ohio Valley Dirt Late Model Series feature on Aug. 15 at the three-eighths mile oval.
Super Late Model
The Conley Motorsports duo of RJ Conley and Justin Cooper proved to be dominant again out front, with Cooper and Conley setting the quickest laps with times of 15.135 and 15.598, respectively in qualifying and both drivers winning their respective heat races.

From there, the race proved to be all RJ Conley, who led each of the final 17 circuits en route to a super late model feature win.

World record-holder Summer McIntosh failed to qualify for the 400m freestyle final at the Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine, California, on Friday, slumping to the ninth-quickest time in the heats.
The 19-year-old Canadian sensation, who won three gold medals at the Paris Olympics, clocked 4min 08.56sec -- more than 14 seconds outside the world record she set last year before going on to win the world ******* le in Singapore.
McIntosh had been expected to figure in a three-way battle for the Pan Pacs crown with US freestyle great Katie Ledecky and Australian Lani Pallister.
Ledecky led the way into Friday night's final with a time of 4:03.48 and Pallister, who won the 200m free and took silver behind Ledecky in the 1,500m on Wednesday, was fourth-quickest.

We continue our USC Behind Enemy Lines series with UCLA Wire editor Dylan McNeill. Next question: Who is Bob Chesney's most important staff hire going into the coach's first season with the Bruins?
"The quickest way to start playing competitive football is having a strong defense, which makes new UCLA defensive coordinator Colin Hitschler the most important hire for Bob Chesney's staff," McNeill told us. "Hitschler has had co-defensive coordinator experience at Alabama, Wisconsin, Cincinnati and with Chesney at James Madison. Hitschler has coached some strong defenses over the past few years and if that can continue in 2026, UCLA has a shot at playing winning football in the Big Ten this season."
It's hard to argue with McNeill's answer. When UCLA was able to stand up to USC, it was because the Bruins had a physical, hard-nosed defense under then-coordinator D'Anton Lynn. When UCLA's defense was soft under other coordinators, the Bruins really didn't have a chance against the Trojans. Whether Colin Hitschler hits the mark as defensive coordinator is certainly a core variable for UCLA football this season. The Trojans hope he does as well as Alex Grinch did at USC. That would put the Men of Troy in position to run Los Angeles for many more years.

The first Test at Marrara Stadium in Darwin will be Bangladesh's first Test tour of Australia in more than 20 years. It also starts a 12-month period in which Australia are scheduled to play at least 20 Tests, including series against South Africa, India and England.
Australia are set to bring back their main bowling attack, with Pat **** mins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon returning from injuries. Mitchell Starc is also in the side.
Injuries have meant the four have rarely played together in recent series. Hazlewood's expected return means Scott Boland will miss out, while allrounders Cameron Green and Beau Webster are also in the starting XI.
"We know Scotty's class, it is always a pretty tight call," **** mins said at a press conference on Wednesday. "There is not much you can say to Scotty except there is a lot of cricket coming up.
"He knows his worth, and how good he is, and I am sure he will be out there at some point pretty soon."
Australia's bowling attack looks settled, but there are questions over the batting order.
Jake Weatherald, the first Test player from Australia's Northern Territory, has kept his place after Australia's Ashes win over England last season despite his recent form. He is expected to open with Travis Head.
Usman Khawaja's retirement has allowed Australia to play both Green and Webster in the same XI. Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith will bat at No. 3 and No. 4, with Labuschagne also looking for runs to strengthen his position in the side.
Bangladesh will be without Nahid Rana, Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam for the first Test. Shoriful could return for the second match in Mackay from August 22 to 26.
Rana, 23, is one of Bangladesh's quickest bowlers and was a key part of their ODI series win over Australia two months ago. He suffered a side strain during a T20I against Zimbabwe in July.
The series against Bangladesh begins a schedule of 20 Tests for Australia over the next 12 months, with another match possible if they qualify for the World Test Championship final.
After the second Bangladesh Test, Australia will tour South Africa for three Tests in October. They will then host New Zealand for four Tests before a five-Test series in India.
Australia will also play a one-off day-night Test against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in March to mark the 150th anniversary of matches between the two countries.
The schedule will conclude with an away Ashes series beginning in June.

An extra-time brace from Remina Chiba secured a 3-1 win for the Women's First Team against Hammarby in Biella.
The win sees the Bianconere through to the third qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Champions League as the champions of the mini-tournament.
The Swedes got off to a flying start and, after just two minutes, Svea Rehnberg went close, only to be denied by Danielle De Jong. The visitors maintained the upper hand in the opening stages, but as the minutes ticked by, Juventus began to take greater control of possession.
In the 22nd minute, Juventus had their first attempt through Estela Carbonell, whose shot went wide. Six minutes later, however, it was Hammarby who broke the deadlock: Rehnberg was on hand in the box and scored from close range to make it 0–1.
Juventus responded, and in the 33rd minute, Alba Redondo went in search of an equaliser, only to be denied by Bella Andersson. In the 38th minute, Emma Stolen Godo tried her luck with a header. Barely a minute later, the score was 1–1: following a sustained attack in the Swedish box, Redondo was quickest to pounce on the ball and beat Andersson.

England team-mate Harry Ledingham-Horn, who had topped the standings after 11 riders with a time of 1:00.039, was pushed out of the medals to fourth.
He was beaten to the bronze by just over 40 seconds by Australian Tayte Ryan, who also beat the Englishman to the third-placed medal in the men's sprint.
Meanwhile, Hamish Turnbull got off to a quick start, clocking the third quickest opening 250m with a time of 18.637, but his speed began to drop off to leave him down in eighth.

A fast finish and an action-packed flyweight bout were among the UFC 329 bonus winners.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship handed out a pair of Performance of the Night awards and a Fight of the Night bonus, with each recipient pocketing an extra $100,000 over their contracted fight purse. The fight card featured 11 finishes in total, but a couple of bouts concluded in anticlimactic fashion, with the main event ending via an unfortunate injury.
Paddy Pimblett secured a $100,000 POTN bonus for his submission of Benoit St. Denis in the co-main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It took Pimblett under a minute to put away his French counterpart, sealing one of the quickest and most emphatic victories of his UFC tenure.
King Green also earned a $100,000 POTN bonus following a dramatic first-round comeback against Terrance McKinney. Despite initially facing an early barrage from McKinney and a submission scare, Green survived and earned a first-round victory with one second to spare.
Brandon Royval and Lone’er Kavanagh bagged FOTN honors and $100,000 each for their back-and-forth flyweight clash. Kavanagh looked sharp in the early frames, but Royval showed his experience to rally back and find a third-round rear-naked choke.
As mentioned earlier, the headliner ended in disappointment as Conor McGregor suffered a knee injury just seconds into his rematch with Max Holloway, resulting in a victory for the Hawaiian.

Lucas Coenen (1:53.903) joined his brother Sacha Coenen at the top of their respective leaderboards to give the Dutch twins a sweep of qualification at The Wick 338 in Southwick, Massachusetts.
The Coenens made their debut in Thunder Valley, with Lucas finishing second in the motos to Jett Lawrence. Speculation centered on them being much faster in the sandy conditions this week and that showed up on the chart.
Jorge Prado (1:55.139) posted the second fastest time overall, but he was the quickest rider in the second session when track conditions were more similar to those riders will face in the afternoon.
Prado came within a few laps of winning his first moto and overall last week at RedBud.
That means the Lawrence brothers were not part of the top two in more than a year. The last time that happened was at Thunder Valley last year.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Only minutes into the second half of Friday's World Cup quarterfinal against heavily favored Spain, Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois boomed a goal kick downfield and felt a twinge in his thigh.
He initially felt good enough to keep playing, but the pain resurfaced each time he tried to kick the ball long.
Rather than ask Courtois to fight through the pain, Belgium coach Rudi Garcia opted to remove the Real Madrid goalkeeper in the 71st minute of a 1-1 match. Courtois exited the field wiping the tears from his eyes as backup Senne Lammens entered.
"I wanted to continue, but the coach wanted someone 100%," Courtois said. "I wanted to try to play maybe 5-10 more minutes because, in goal, I was feeling good, I was making saves and I was not disturbed to make those saves. I was only disturbed to kick long."
A dramatic moment became a decisive one less than 20 minutes later when Lammens made a critical mistake at the worst possible time. The 24-year-old Manchester United goalkeeper spilled a routine shot from Spain center back Pau Cubarsí into the penalty area. Spain's Mikel Merino was the quickest to react, slamming home the rebound to propel his team to a 2-1 victory and a berth in the World Cup semifinals against France.

No wonder Spain boss Luis de la Fuente can't resist keeping Mikel Merino on the bench. It's now two World Cup knockout games deadlocked, two World Cup knockout games won by the left boot of the ****** nal midfielder. On Monday, it was against Portugal in Dallas; here in the Californian sunshine, he was quickest following in, anticipating an error from the Belgian goalkeeper. Slamming the ball into the roof of the net two minutes from time, he sends his country into a tantalising semi-final showdown with fellow European heavyweights France on Tuesday.
Only, it wasn't meant to be this way for this valiant Belgian team. The cruel turn of the tide came 20 minutes from the end when Thibaut Courtois, one of the world's greatest goalkeepers, trudged off inconsolable after sustaining a thigh injury. A very capable No 2 in Man Utd's Senne Lammens took his place but it was his error, his inability to hold on to Pau Cubarsi's long-range effort, his incomprehensible spill of the football into Merino's path, which will be the lasting image of their World Cup campaign.
And so European champions Spain march on. It was far from convincing and Belgium will rue a few half-decent openings in the second-half. But nearly 16 years to the day since the 2010 generation prevailed on the world stage in South Africa, this 2026 squad took another step closer to their nation's second triumph. It will now be Kylian Mbappe and the irresistible French attack in four days' time in the air-conditioned Dallas Stadium. Some match, that.
Spain's incredible run now stands at 36 consecutive matches unbeaten in competitive encounters. While their clean-sheet record, standing at 650 World Cup minutes without conceding, came a cropper here, the underlying goal of the summer did not sway off course. And as they took the applause of the 70,000-strong crowd in Los Angeles, dominated by Spain supporters, they will be satisfied with their progression, even if their status was precarious for a period here.
These two had not played for a decade, while Spain were unbeaten in 11 games against their European opponents, dating back to a World Cup quarter-final shootout defeat 40 years ago in Puebla City, Mexico. In similarly sweltering conditions in Inglewood, with this match kicking off at midday, could an underdog story repeat itself here?

An early breakthrough wasn't enough for Phoenix Rising to walk away from Weidner Field with a result, as the Colorado Springs Switchbacks came back to win 3-1 in dominating fashion.
That results leaves Rising sitting in 9th place in the Western Conference standings after playing half of their matches for 2026, while most of their rivals in the table have games in hand.
It took just four minutes for Gunnar Studenhofft to put Phoenix Rising on top.
Daniel Flores' long ball forward found Studenhofft just outside the penalty area. Switchbacks goalkeeper Christian Herrera was off his line, opening up an opportunity for the Cayman forward to chip it over his head.
That goal, just 3 minutes and 39 seconds into the match, is Rising's quickest goal of the season.

Denmark's Jonas Vingegaard took the yellow jersey on the opening stage of the Tour de France following a tense team time trial.
Two-time Tour winner Vingegaard finished the 19.6km course in 21 minutes, 47 seconds - eight seconds ahead of Italy's Filippo Ganna of the British Netcompany Ineos Cycling team.
Favourite for the overall win Tadej Pogacar finished third, 12 seconds down on Vingegaard for his UAE Team Emirates-XRG team.
Pogacar, 27, is looking to try to become the equal most successful rider in the Tour's history, alongside Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain.
On a hot evening in Barcelona for the Tour's Catalonia-based Grand Depart, the race's first team time trial for seven years saw teams ride in a 'chain' formation to establish the quickest time through the city by protecting their lead rider from the wind resistance - with each squad's seven support riders eventually peeling off to let their team leader cross the line alone.
